• Verified traveler (2/5): - Towels are given at check in, carry your own towels to the rooms. No make up rooms even if you pressed the "Make Up Room" button. Water pressure is weak in the toliets. Convenient location and friendly staff.
• srm (6/5): Broken sleep - Hotel too noisy at night next to a main road. Young lady Malay receptionist very helpful during our stay helped us find a travel agent to book a couple of private tours as there are no organised trips from this town.all other staff very friendly.
• Tina (4/5): - Staying in Non smoking room(with smoke free signboard in the room) but the room filled with cigarette smell, complaint to the staff but they said nothing they can do. Requested to change to another room but still another smelly room with cigarette smell. Clearly the hotel management didn't bother or take any action about smoking in the Non smoking room.

• w m magdalene (8/5): Convenient hotel - The location of the hotel is excellent. You are surrounded by all the famous eateries. The staff of the hotel are a bit cold and room is a bit on the small size, maybe this can be reflected by the price we paid.

• Victor (6/5): It invites you to think about its bygone days - I stayed here for 2 nights last week. I want to say Le Metrotel is the type of place where they offered "old fashioned service". The older gentleman manning the front desk during the day (who I guess is the hotel manager?) is your typical friendly 'uncle' type. He'll accommodate with any requests that you have. The same hold trues for the service ladies - who are also your typical older 'aunties' type. Unfortunately, the hotel itself - outside of the lobby which is deceivingly refreshed - has seen its best days already. The bathroom is particularly old, and the towels even older. The lack of free toiletries was surprisingly, given that it's usually a standard freebie in Asia. I stayed in a standard room and the room itself was comfortable, if unspectacular. As others have mentioned, the night market is right next to the hotel. If you're in Ipoh for an overnight stay, without a car, and you're looking for a budget stay for the night market, this hotel may be for you. Otherwise, you may want to try exploring your options.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Good location hotel, but not enough car parking! - We choice this hotel, because of the nice location, close to the famous food shop, but unhappy is not enough car park parking for us, their car park may give to public, so when we back to car park, no more parking for us, need to tell the hotel staff and want to move the car later, very disappointed!

One downside is the hotel parking lots at the back during weekend is not so pleasant as non-hotel guests were also allowed to park there !!

• SE YONG (6/5): Great location but very small room and noisy. - The only reason to stay in this hotel is its location. All the famous dishes around Ipoh are in walking distance. The hotel also provided an open air private parking place, so you don't have to worry about finding a place to park your car. Room is very small that even with 2 person in the room you feel crowded, and for the same price I believe you can get a bigger room somewhere else.no refrigerator in room, only a liquid soap is provided in the toilet, and it was for both body shower and hair shampoo. The shower curtain is dirty. I can hear the noise of the traffic from my room (at 2nd floor). No carpet in the corridor and poor sound-proofing as you can hear peoples walk and talk outside your room.
• mei (8/5): close to local famous restaurants - The location is perfect and there are a lot of local famous restaurants nearby such as Funny Mountain tau foo fa, Onn Kee and Lou Wong Bean Sprout chicken rice. Parking was provided for free (they had an open space carpark).

• Shirley Goh (8/5): Fabulous location - Located in the new town but only 12 minutes walk to old town and located on a restaurant street where eateries open till the early hours of the morning every night. There's a night market on the next street every night. Best salt baked chicken best kaya puffs best soy bean drink all along this street and the next. Helpful staff and well secured premises. Room is comfortable with all basic necessities. Only setback no outside calls on room phone but reception staff will assist if necessary.

• Verified traveler (6/5): impossible to shower in toilet - Hotel is near good famous food and easy to roam about Ipoh from this location. However, the layout of the bathroom is horrendous and showering area is less than 2 feet wide between the wall and the curtain. Too narrow for any comfort.

• Teck Oon (10/5): The best location ever for Ipoh's famous food! - Le Metrotel is located right in the centre of Ipoh's best eating places. Whatever time of day it is, there is something very good to eat here. All the big & famous names of Ipoh's best are near. And even those takeaways of salted chicken and special biscuits are next door or within a short 5 minute walk. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and very clean. The room is small but is adequate. The bathroom is really too small but is clean and looks new and pleasant. The air conditioning worked very well. For the room rate it is a wonder! The staff are really helpful in pointing out to you the locations of the best restaurants to go to. Specific mention for Jessy who is super enthusiastic about that.

Room was clean and nice deco as well, bed quite comfortable and the air-conditioner was cold enough, haha! But one thing, room soundproofing aspect not good. Those who talking along the corridor also can be heard clearly. Overall stay was good, not bad.

• Gin (8/5): Small but all needed is include - Choosen this hotel is because of good review from other. Found out it is really a nice hotel. Near the town, and also have a night market near by. Didn't spend too much time at the hotel actually. Everything needed is provided. As my title, is small but all is provided. Suitable place for ppl that only demand on a place to sleep. A little disappointed on the cleanses of it. Keep feeling got sand on the floor of the room even the bathrooms. Not sure is it the materials of the floor cause it. Overall of it are satisfied. Get a good night sleep after a whole day fun.
• Lian (8/5): Nice hotel close to all the good food - Hotel is located close to famous names such as Funny Mountain tau foo fa, Onn Kee and Lou Wong taugeh chicken rice. Also within walking distance to the famous dimsum shops. Parking was provided for free (they had an open space carpark) which was great as parking in ipoh was hard to find unless u r willing to pay extra. As we loved exploring by foot we also walked a little further to hunt for the street art and heritage buildings.

• XIAOHONG (10/5): Perfect Location - The location is perfect and there are a lot of local famous restaurants nearby.
• Henry (6/5): Excellent location for food lovers - 1) Rooms are small n very cramp and flooring not very clean 2) Corridors very stuffy - no air-cond. 3) Windows are not air-tight - very noisy when vehicles passes by. 4) Lightings in rooms are not bright enough and only one switch that controls all the lights. There's still room for improvement - overall quite ok

• Matthew (6/5): Pleasantly surprised - Actually had a pretty pleasant stay here a few nights ago. My girlfriend and I had two single beds pushed together instead of a double, so that was a little disappointing, but the rest of the hotel itself was great. Beautiful entrance/lobby, super clean and very kind staff. Unfortunately they weren't able to help us book our bus to KL (had to walk about 30 minutes to bus station). They did call us a taxi to go to some of the cave temples. Also, the neighborhood really has very little to offer in the way of restaurants. Found Purple Cane nearby and ate there almost exclusively...really incredible food for a fairly low price.
• 1st Trip to Ipoh (8/5): Great location for 1st time stay in Ipoh - Reserved parking bay right in front of the hotel. Room is clean and bed very comfortable. Old town about 10-15 minutes walk away. You do not need to go far to look for food. Restaurants and snack shops are all nearby the hotel. But might be a little noisy if you are on the 1st or 2nd floor as the hotel is located right next to the main road.
