• nigelmhealey (8/5): A quirky, affordable and very comfortable venue for those visiting Leeds - I went to visit one of my children who lives in Leeds. I have fond memories of Headingley (Skyrack, Original Oak, Woodies, Salvo's), having been a postgraduate student at the University of Leeds and a lecturer at Leeds Beckett University in the late 1980s. I booked Headingley Lodge online with www.booking.com (alert: book using the App and you may get a 10% discount over booking online on your laptop... I did!). The price was £75.66 (no breakfast). I found the hotel difficult to locate at first, despite driving up and down Michaels Lane with my SatNav repeatedly telling me "YOU HAVE ARRIVED AT YOUR DESTINATION, WHAT DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?". It is actually an integral part of Headingley Cricket Ground (I was looking for a standalone hotel). The car park is inside the stadium perimeter with a gate house (barrier controlled) and super secure (24/7 security). The reception area is very unprepossessing. It looks like the porters' desk at a budget student accommodation block, but travel up three floors in the elevator and the rooms are Premier Inn plus: large double bed, desk+chair, two arm chairs, big flatscreen, fridge, iron and board, hair dryer and en-suite bathroom. And the view: over the pitch at Headingley Cricket Stadium, woah! I talked with the staff and the rooms are converted into 12-seat hospitality suites for test matches (if you need to ask how much, you can't afford it... I did, and I couldn't). The French window (locked) from the bedroom opens onto the top tier of the seating over the pitch. BTW: the reception staff are lovely and friendly and there are a few hotel chains that should visit to see how customer service can be personal and authentic. I'd forgotten how much I miss Yorkshire hospitality.
• 583grahamt (8/5): Clean room and good stay. Close to Leeds Airport. - This is close to Leeds Airport so you can hear the planes take off and land. The window glass gets rid of most of the noise. It has a stunning view of the cricket field and the beds were comfortable. Plenty of choice in the area for shopping and somewhere to eat. This also has free car parking but tell them in advance.

Room very spacious with a great view of the cricket pitch, none on while we were there and no access to the stands from the room. Brilliant location for Leeds with buses running very close. Could do with some more storage in the bathroom and guess it could be noisy when busy as people were obviously in the room next door for our second night and we could hear them quite well. Not much to be done about the planes directly overhead at times, but didn’t affect us too much. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay again if no cricket on as parking wouldn’t be quite so convenient with spectators parking as well.
• eatmypig (10/5): Lovely 2nd stay - Second time we have stayed at the Headingley Lodge, it's in a great location , good sized rooms and comfortable beds, friendly welcoming staff, it's definitely the first place I look for when we visit Leeds, short walk to nearest pubs and you pass a chippy on way, approx £7 for an Uber into Leeds, rooms get hot but fan provided sorted that issue out.

Lovely spacious room overlooking the pitch. Very clean and a huge bed ! Great shower and I liked the fact that the small light underneath the shelf stayed on all night in case you need the bathroom. So easy if you come to watch the cricket. We even popped back to the room between the men’s and women’s game to freshen up ( on a very hot day) well worth the money and we will definitely be back.

On our arrival, we were greeted by two lovely, friendly ladies on reception. Check in was swift and they even gave us excellent advise on where to eat and drink in the local area. Our room was very clean and spacious with a great view over Headingley cricket ground. Great night's sleep. Overall excellent stay with lovely staff. Will definitely return.

• Paul (8/5): - The room itself was a nice clean comfortable room with plenty of space, the lodge itself was a bit inpersonable, didn’t really feel like a hotel, but it served its purpose, which was was we wanted. It’s a shame the only breakfast option was a limitied one, with just cereal, pastries or toast and tea or coffee and a carton of fruit juice, which at £6:50 seemed a little overpriced.
• Katherine (8/5): Great stay until the fire alarm! - Overall a really comfy and pleasant stay but a fire alarm at 8am on the Saturday morning left us with a negative impression. The alarm itself was annoying (but safety is safety) but the reaction of staff was disappointing as they didn't offer any kind of apology or explanation for the inconvenience to everyone who'd evacuated the building for what was obviously a false alarm. We'd had nothing but good service until then so would have expected something a little more personal than 'you can all go back in now'.

A good size with ensuite and with a wonderful kingsize bed (which was really comfortable) and a quite stunning view of the cricket ground. We both had a really good night's sleep . The only downside was the absence of breakfast but, then again, Headingley has plenty of coffee shops to choose from. There was ample parking (being out of season) and we would definitely stay here again.

• Escape48798135149 (10/5): Excellent value for a brilliant room. - A friend in Leeds recommended this hotel as a great place to have your nights kip. We weren't disappointed. Our room was large, clean and a great place to stay for one or two nights. The bathroom is really modern and the towels are really fluffy towels. The best thing is you have a view over the cricket ground. I've called the place basic as there is no bar or restaurant. There is a really inviting looking cafe just over the road on St Michael's Lane for breakfast if you're not in a rush. We would definitely stay here again if visiting outer Leeds. We'd like to explore Headingly next time.

Granted the sun had been blazing through the window all day which was the root cause, not a lot the hotel can do about that, but the windows barely open so it's incredibly stuffy and there's no climate control. Much cheaper hotels offer that. I can only imagine what that room costs on a match day. The bed was hard, sheets were very starchy. Don't fancy coming back. Not good value for money at all

The rooms are clean and tidy with a view over the Cricket Field. A lift to all floors and gated security for car parking right outside the Hotel.

• kelly29186338 (8/5): Comfy Stay - I stayed here two nights as i was seeing Manic Street Preachers and Suede in Leeds on the Saturday night. A nice big room with a great view of the cricket ground. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was large and clean. The bed was comfy.

The only down side I would say was that it was an incredible summer evening and it would of been lovely to of been able to open the patio door on to the terraced seating. I can understand would be a logistical nightmare on game day but I had such an amazing sunset over the stadium it would of made it unbelievable .

• suebT895UH (2/5): Don’t book for cricket matches - Despite advertising that every room has a view of the cricket ground they fail to mention on their website that all rooms are booked out for hospitality during international matches!!! I booked our room 18 months in advance after checking that I would have a view of the pitch only to have it cancelled when it was too late to buy separate tickets for the cricket which was sold out
• joshbN956AE (2/5): Flooded hotel room, minimal effort from staff. Chance your luck for a bad time - We booked 2 nights there as it was the nearest to a nearby wedding we where attending. Not aware of the rugby match on arrival, and had to wait nearby whilst the road opened up. An email beforehand about it being a match day would have been useful. Room was okay, and first night sleep was good. When we first used the shower, nost of the water went under the door and flooded the bedroom, the water went under the bed and the full width. Thankfully staff knocked to check as water had leaked to the room below, got told to pack up and we'd be moved rooms. However 30 minutes later we had to go to reception as no one had come bacm. Then had to explain again why we needed the room change now and a room change in a few hours was not workable. Only found out at hotel that car park is only open from 6am to midnight. Once moved rooms, second night was okay. Generally is an okay hotel but it I'd a lucky dip if your gonna have a bad experience or not. Unfortunately we had a bad time and the view of a cricket pitch is not enough.
• andrew (8/5): - Following three failed attempts to check in on arrival due to an unmanned desk, the rest of the stay was excellent, mostly down to the wonderful Sunny whom ensured our stay was comfortable and with plenty of supplies due to the weather conditions. The only downside was a faulty light in our room which constantly flashed on and off during the night which disturbed our sleep a little. We reported it twice, hoping for repair or a change of room but it was a weekend so no maintenance was available and the hotel was fully booked so no other room was available.

Negatives: Nobody on reception when we arrived. No notices or information on how to contact someone. Eventually someone arrived and gave us a room key. That was the only time we saw a member of staff. We knew there were no food facilities and went out twice in the evening and at breakfast. Never saw another guest or staff member at any point. No one in reception when we checked out. The curtains in the room had come away from the track. There was only one lamp in the family rm so had to have ceiling fluorescent lights on. Only 1 plug socket - rubbish for a family. Couldn’t reach window to open it and no one to ask. Very eerie experience.

• richardvertigan (4/5): Poor state of cleanliness in bathroom - I'm only leaving a review here because the hotel has not responded directly to my feedback to them. I've contacted them 3x. So, my review is negative because I've seen cleaner toilets in a pub loo and they've not had the decency to respond to my feedback.
• Sam (8/5): - Lovely unique stay. Room was very clean and spacious with a great view over the stadium. Short walk to town and to Burley park station.
• linzzdg (4/5): So many negatives and so NOISY - This hotel has few plus points - free parking and an unusual view. The positives end there. At first glance the room seemed great, but quickly the negatives began to add up. Tired bathroom. Wobbly toilet seat. Dirty toilet bowl. Heated mirror not working. The most uncomfortable pillows. Lipstick or blood on cushion. Only two teabags and 4 milks provided for two people for 2 days. No information booklet at all about hotel services (I guess, because there were none) or the local area. Not even a diagram on the back of the room door to tell you where to go in case of a fire. Seals on the glass door to the terrace (which does not open but has a security chain and yes, we used it!) degraded so they let in a lot of draft, and squeak and groan all night when it's windy. The windows also let in any external noise, such as sirens, and also we were treated to a party in the stadium's event rooms when driving bass kept us awake until the early hours. No soundproofing of doors or walls either so internal noise is terrible - doors banging, conversations, toilet sounds - you could hear it all. People running in corridors and coming in at 4.30 am and proceeding to make a racket for hours more. And something in the ceiling making a noise like dripping water. All night. Security guards were in evidence when there was an event on the Saturday evening. They turned a blind eye to a row of men blatantly urinating in the hedge. Absolutely lovely. It set the tone for the whole place. This was the worst hotel we've stayed at in years. If you want to party all night and stagger in drunk making a lot of noise this is the perfect place for you. If that's your idea of a nightmare then please heed this review and stay elsewhere.
• Fearless03469563021 (10/5): Room with a view - Fantastic room with a view - even though deep winter & no games being played! Large super-king bed (two singles together), very comfortable. Clean & spacious shower room. Tea & coffee facilities and a little fridge - could bring your own milk/drinks and enjoy a peaceful time sitting watching the pitch. Recommend if you are after a hotel room with a difference (and some within your party are cricket fans). Very quiet and reasonable price, walkable into Headingley for food - no food onsite.
• Michelle (10/5): - Amazing to have a view over the cricket pitch - even it it was deep winter and not games played. Lovely large room & super-king bed, clean shower room, very peaceful.

• colind210 (6/5): Surprised about the lack of care and attention - Second stay here, first one was fab. This time Room 206, entered to a dirty carpet, hairs and crumbs on sheet under the duvet and marks on pillows. Toilet seat lid not attached and came off in my hand. I mean this is simply not acceptable for a fairly decent establishment. Good sleep though I’ll give you that hence 3 stars. This has probably put me off coming back again, especially after not replying to my email seeing your reception was unmanned during our check out. Am I surprised !!!
• Lee (4/5): - Very basic rooms, lower then travelodge level TBH, dirty sheets, bathrooms need a deep clean, no breakfast options but walking distance from Burtley Railway station.
• Andrew (6/5): Very wet and cold room - Checked in to a really cold room. Heating wasn't working and the window was leaking the rain water and we had a pool of water on the floor.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Headingley Lodge - The room was fine, clean and comfortable. Reception staff were efficient and courteous. Very helpful when we had a health problem

• manis546 (10/5): Simply Amazing - Great customer service from Bali who was lovely and really made the stay stand out, hotel was exactly as expected but the warmth shown by the staff really made the family break special. Will definitely be going back and more than happy to recommend to anyone else who is thinking of staying here!
• Lynn (6/5): - This was our second time of staying at this hotel. The rooms are spacious and the reception staff friendly. On our first visit we had to report a number of maintenance issues including no volume on BBC1 on the TV. We left it in the hands of the reception staff. On our second visit, to a different room the same issue existed so it is obviously a hotel wide issue rather than room specific. The bed is comfortable but the pillows are at the end of their life as lumpy and the towels are getting thin. The parking is useful and easy (esp if no match on). It is easy to walk to a number of restaurants in Headingly.
• Oldpjm (6/5): Not bad, but looking tired and needs some refurbishment - You know what you are getting, room only. However those room’s definitely need a bit of work. Curtains don’t close properly as some of the hooks are broken particularly on the sides by the edge of the window. Big bed which was comfy enough but they come with the worlds smallest pillows. Also rooms generally showing signs of use. Spend a bit of money: curtains fixed, buys sone bigger pillows and get a bit of a general tidy up. On the plus side: friendly welcome, free parking with 24 hr security, less than 10 minutes walk to Headingly high street with loads of cafes, bars and restaurants.
• Tom (10/5): Headingly Lodge...'ticks' all the right boxes! - We were back in Leeds for a family funeral. Decided to make it a 'nostalgia' trip too...and stay in/near Headingly. The GREAT appeal of Headingley lodge was the free secure parking.
