The front desk receptionist was extremely friendly and he even allowed us to park in the lot when we checked out. The bathroom was a tad small, but good enough when that's not your main worry. We paid for the view and boardwalk, and we got exactly that. We will be booking again for our anniversary next year. Thank you Hillcrest staff for the relaxing stay!

- Krista (2/5): STAY ELSEWHERE - BEWARE!! I have never staying in a more disgusting place as I have here. I can deal with outdated but this place was just plan gross. From ceiling tiles falling off, mold in shower and bathroom walls. Baseboards falling off and rotting. The carpets were gross and would not ever suggest walking barefoot. The AC unit on the balcony is a huge hazard as it's right where the table and chairs are and it's rotted & rusted. The common areas are also very dirty with old dilapidated furniture and fixtures and 100 year old worn carpeting. We thought staying right on the main boardwalk would be a nice experience to be close to everything but it was NOT worth the money they get for these dumps.

They don’t offer housekeeping however if you ask at the front desk, they will get you extra pillows or towels. There are no elevators so if you have issues climb and stairs, it would be very hard to stay there.

Ac worked amazing, shower pressure was good , small bathroom slippers in the shower be careful . Over all solid place for a night away with a friend or spouse if you plan on being out and about. Affordable parking oh my i have a large suv very tight spots but got out very very carefully.. cute spot perfectly located to everything… probably could use some updates maybe ditch the carpet and put flooring down coat of paint and cute decor would probably make a world of difference imo . BUTTTT LOVELY STAY greeted with kindness and when checking out they were super kind and friendly definitely would stay again because of that alone oh and plenty of seating out on their front deck

The bathroom was also very small and you couldn’t even open the door all the way cause it would hit the toilet. The owner or maybe manager, was super friendly and kind. He let us check in hours early, which was amazing with two young kids. This made everything else tolerable for us. The beds were clean and fairly comfy. The only complaint I have is more pillows in the room would have been nice! Overall I was satisfied with out stay and it was great to be that close to the ocean!!

We were unable to enjoy the private porch and the front porch due to excessive smoking. I have asthma and have quit smoking 15 years ago so this was a definate discust to me. The smoke rolls up from the entry porch up to ur private area. Also our ajoining neighbors smoked all day so its all u smell. Just couldnt breath or enjoy it at all. Staff were friendly and did get us extra pillows and towels right away. Needs a firm cleaning as there was old food in floors.

- Heather (4/5): Very cute but wouldn’t stay again sadly - The hotel is very cute but severely outdated. No elevator so hauling luggage up the stairs at our age was difficult. The room are ok but not meant for tall people. The reason for the low review is that the beds are atrocious. Very uncomfortable to say the least. The location is fantastic for night life but be prepared to be woke up early from garbage trucks.

The refrigerator did not have a freezer and there was no hair dryers provided. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was great right on the main strip. The room was small with a tiny round table and 2 arm chairs. There was a small freestanding armoire with a couple of drawers. The lighting was harsh with super bright led bulbs. The coffee was pretty decent.

- Jacob (6/5): - The Pro's: Outstanding water pressure in the shower. I've stayed at roughly 100 different hotels and this is easily a top 5 in that regard. Getting checked in & out was pretty seamless. The Cons: The beds absolutely suck. Felt like I was sleeping on a box spring. Patio table was pretty dirty, shower curtain only covered half of the shower so I had to throw a towel down in order to not completely soak the bathroom floor, room was pretty small. Parking was a bit of a headache too but, with all the places to stay in the area, I can understand not all places can get premium parking lots.
- Mikki (6/5): - Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay. The photos in the listing did not accurately reflect the true condition of the property. While the basic linens and surfaces were clean upon arrival, it quickly became apparent that the space has not been well-maintained. There was visible mold in the bathroom, the carpet was extremely worn and dirty, and several furnishings were outdated or broken. When we first arrived, the room was stocked with only one set of towels and a single pillow per person. Although the staff was responsive and eventually provided what we needed, we had to follow up multiple times and were told it had simply been forgotten—understandable during a busy holiday, but still frustrating. The biggest letdown was the pool area. There was a clear stain around the waterline that suggested a past mold issue, the pool furniture was in poor condition, and the deck had overgrown grass and cracks in the non-slip surface. The location is likely the main selling point, and the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. However, the overall condition of the property did not match what was advertised, and we left feeling misled and disappointed.

Ashtray available outside on a table and chairs set in case you want to smoke. They kindly let me check in earlier than I was supposed to. The staff was trying to help us the stairs with our stuff, very sweet. The owner was very chill . I had the top floor so if you can’t climb stairs it’s kind of hard . I did it and I’m still recovering from knee surgery. Its old fashioned stairs are cute. The pool looked fun and clean but I didn’t use it, this time… This inn is a pleasant place and close to everything you need . He has a parking lot at the end of h street to park while your his guest. Enjoy!!!

- Stacy (8/5): - My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Hillcrest. We absolutely loved being right across the street from the beach, the people watching from the front porch is incredible. They have some board games in the front area of the lobby over looking the ocean. The staff was kind & helpful. That said, this property is decrepit. It is in need of renovations that more than good cleaning can help. Our room was clean and the staff were nice and polite at check in. The beds are old, the sheets of low quality, the carpet old. We had a balcony overlooking the ocean, but your neighbours are on the same balcony, only separated by a fence. If they smoke, your room smells like smoke. When they make noise at night, you can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. This was an extremely inexpensive hotel room for Hampton Beach. We did not expect luxury, and appreciated the good qualities of our stay, but will pay more for thicker walls and better quality amenities next time. I’m writing this review to be honest about what you should expect from the price you pay, and to be appreciative of the staffs work.

Smokers on their balconies next door drifted right into our room, unfortunately. Staff was lovely and it came with a coveted parking spot! Right on the Hampton Beach strip, the description said 1/4 mile to "Hampton Beach", but it was more like walk across the road and right in the sand!

It seemed to me that our bathroom had some recent updates, though. Hampton Beach is just kind of run down in general. Our stay did nothing tonchange my mind about that.

- Verified traveler (4/5): would not recommend - Only stay here if there are no other options. It's a quaint old building but has not been updated in a long time. The floors were really crooked. The upholstered chairs in the room were ripped and stained. The bathroom baseboards had layers of dust. The bed was hard as a rock. There was no deadbolt on the door, just locking knob and a chain. I stopped myself from looking more into how dirty the room actually was. The linens are not changed daily, no house keeping at all during our stay. We had to ask for a new set of towels.

- Bridget (8/5): Potpourri smell - Older hotel with smaller rooms, perfect location, comfortable bed. Only real complaint is the floral cleaning products they use are overpowering. Smells like potpourri from the 70-80’s. Really offensive. We had to leave the sliding door open the first night to air the room out. Walked by a different room that was being cleaned, and the strong floral smell made me gag!

Every time we signed off our phones and tablets we had to go thru the whole process to sign back in only to have 1 or 2 bars that booted us offline frequently. We got it, but didn't spend any time out there with the tiny stained table and plastic chairs. This was certainly not worth the high price! Stay away.

The front porch offers the ideal spot for people watching if you are not lucky enough to have a balcony. The beach is literally across the street and you can even hear the waves once the business of the day dies down. If you are looking for an ultramodern hi-tech hotel, this is not the place for you (in fact, we had to forego tv during our stay because they were unable to get it working) but if you are looking for the nostalgia and simplicity of days past while still being in the thick of things, this may be for you

- Danielle (6/5): Pretty Good Stay - It was a super small room. Very old building, which has it's charm. There were 2 staff members that were very pleasant, girll with curly curly hair at front desk and the grey haired gentleman that checked me in and carried my bag for me. The rest of the staff were standoffish. One improvement would be a simple bottle of water upon check in. (One thing is the ceiling tile in bathroom had a pretty good size missing corner, I felt watched)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I booked an side ocean view room its very small...was not very clean. There was a sign to put towels and garbage by door and they would leave clean towel they didnt..we had to get clean towels on our own. Above the a.c i dont think has been cleaned at all... for the money we paid it wasnt worth it...
- Jennifer (8/5): - This was our first stay at the Hillcrest Inn and I would definitely stay here again . Overall, this is a decent place to stay right on the beach! Nice balconies with view of the ocean and boardwalk. Outdoor pool was a plus for the kids. I am always nervous about the beds in these hotel rooms, but they were decent and sheets and blankets were clean and white. The only complaints I have was that the air conditioner only worked for 10 minutes at a time we couldn’t figure it out or it was broken. And the rooms do not have a microwave or coffee maker.
- Susan (6/5): - Great location and the 2 bedroom was ideal for what we were looking for. But the room was filthy. Old ice cream still in the freezer. Bedding was stained. Mirrors were smudged. Air conditioner dripped on the floor (carpet) on the porch and was moldy.
- Allison (2/5): Not clean - The front desk was very helpful. Helped me find parking to the hotel and gave me tips for parking areas for the beach. Hotel cleanliness was a 0… dirty bathroom. Other peoples belongings still under the beds. I felt so gross in the bathroom that I had to wear my flip flops to shower. Bathroom was the worst part. Pictures included. Def staying somewhere else next time. No coffee in the room etc which is I feel important for a hotel stay.
