Guest Reviews
- KANWLJEET (8/5): - Good location and staff were very helpful!
Overall good value for money
- dwight (10/5): - Second time staying at this property. The rooms are a great size, the showers are amazing and the pool is perfect. The staff is really nice. I would recommend this place. It’s about 15 mins away from Ubud center but no problem if you have your moto
- Elise (6/5): - I think we picked the only hotel in Bali that does not have cocktails on the menu
- Kaye (8/5): - I really liked being able to walk out of room to courtyard and pool.
The heatpump needed a service
- Alejandro (4/5): - Is a nice property but lack of maintenance! Staff great, but swimming pool dirty on the bottom, bathrooms with old and dirty furniture!
- stuart (6/5): - This was a last minute booking and I don’t regret booking the hotel. However I do feel the hotel pics are somewhat out of date. The hotel now looks tired and in need of a refurbishment. The bathroom although clean needs a lot of work. The room was also very noisy, with the sound of children playing and later builders working next door to the hotel.
The pool area is nice but has seen better days, with lots of cracked tiles surrounding the pool and in the pool itself. There is algae around some of the tiles.
The staff are lovely and even arranged a trip for us to see some of the local sites.
Breakfast is very average.
The hotel itself is a good 10/15 minute taxi ride into Ubud town centre.
I know I’ve been quite negative in this review, I never intended to be. My wife and I had a lovely stay despite the issues mentioned above. I would recommend a stay at this hotel if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Ubud town centre and can put up with the tired looks of the hotel.
- Shivani Baskar Kuttuva (10/5): - My family and I stayed in this resort for 5 nights and we had an absolutely amazing stay! It’s been one of the best in my personal experience.
The room, it’s utilities, the aesthetics, the food and the staff service were all to the point.
They were very supportive to my family member who fell sick during our stay! I’m very thankful to the staff for their kindness
- Sherwin (8/5): - A nice place to stay if you are happy not being in central Ubud. The wifi could be quite a bit better than it is.
- Mark (10/5): - A really lovely place. The courtyard area is gorgeous. The staff are friendly and quite helpful. My only concern is the bathroom/shower area. I don't love the way it is organized so that the entire room gets wet if you shower, but I've found that to be standard throughout Indonesia. However, our shower drain was clogged and remained that way during our entire stay. Not a big deal though, we just asked the staff for extra towels and used them to make dams around the shower.
- Lindsay (10/5): - I stayed here 5 nights!
The hotel is located about 1.5 km outside of the main town of Ubud, on a fairly quiet road. There are two small convenience stores and a handful of restaurants nearby.
The hotel grounds were beautiful - lush with greenery.
Rooms were incredibly spacious. My room was pool view and came with a private balcony, a large Hollywood bed, functional furniture, a mini fridge, a luggage rack, an electric kettle with tea and coffee making supplies, and 2 bottles of water.
The bathroom was sparkling clean and well designed. There was a large western toilet, a bathtub, and a rain shower, with a glass wall to prevent water from flooding the floor. 3 large dispensers of liquid hand soap, shower gel and shampoo were in room. Toiletries were replaced by housekeeping every morning. Ample towels were provided - clean and smelled fresh each morning! Water was hot and water pressure was excellent!
Housekeeping services were efficient and on point - towels and all room toiletries were replaced daily! Bed sheets were also changed frequently!
The included breakfast was delicious. You choose from a set menu of 3-4 different options and meals were a good size!
Air conditioning, ventilation and wifi signal in the room were excellent, with many electrical sockets. The room came with a flatscreen tv, with several English channels.
Reception staff and management were superb! Highly professional, courteous and accommodated the needs of guests!
- Tomas (10/5): - Great boutique hotel in the Ubud area, value for money.
- Angie (10/5): - I really love this hotel, it was so relax, food was amazing and people very kind
- Rosey (8/5): - Feels private and secluded with a lovely pool in the centre. The staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you. The food was good but basic and you might want to eat out for a change if you're there for a few days. Free shuttle to Ubud centre (about 10km away) but if you want it out of the set times, you'll need to pay about $10AU. Not much outside the hotel. I had a deluxe room which is on the ground floor next to the pool. The rooms are basic and clean. Unfortunately, my room (103) had a damp issue - there was a lot of mould in the wardrobes and I couldn't use them. I pointed this out and they washed it down but the smell remained and the mould returned the next day. They really need to sort this out as I noticed someone had commented on this a couple of years ago (the same room). My friend had a similar room with no problems. Despite all this, I really enjoyed my stay there (5 nights) and would recommend the hotel. PS. The Wifi is pretty dire, if you need to use the internet I would suggest buying a dongle before you go!
- Aadu (4/5): Not a 4 star hotel. - No hot water sometimes in the mornings. Staff was great but hotel itself is definitely not 4 stars.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - My girlfriend and I had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The highlight for us was the staff. Anthony, Akum and the girls made sure to look after us. Also, kedek did a great job cleaning the pool everyday.
The only downside for us was that we thought there needed to be more shuttles offered. We went out on New Year's eve and the last shuttle was 22:30. The hotel is quite far from the city center.
Overall a good stay. We bring home good memories.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique experience , friendly staff and great service
- Vagn (10/5): Fantastisk hotel i Ubud.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice staff! Our room was nice but slightly outdated! Breakfast was included with the option we took and it was good! They have their own car if you need to go to places but comes at a cost compared to GoJek! Location is slightly away from everything but we knew that we cabbed everywhere we went. But tbh for the price you can’t complain! Their pool is very nice!
- elina (10/5): Prisvärt hotell - Fin pool och innegård. Ett helt okej hotell som är prisvärt.
- Thomas (10/5): Excellent stay! - My stay here was excellent. Started taking the shuttle downtown and back some days. Later on rented bike and its really refreshing to travel around Bali on bike. Staff was excellent, some may have language barriers and seem worried of saying something wrong. First i booked 5 nights and ended up extending for another 7 days. First time ever on my travels around Indonesia. If i should look for improvements, it must be restaurant. Food was very very salty and breakfast got a bit boring in the long run.
- Dash (8/5): - This is a small hotel but when your in Ubud you will most likely be exploring outside. Hence, if ur exploring outside then thisnis a great hotel especially for the price
- Samantha (10/5): - Great staff and breakfast and a nice pool.
- Julie (10/5): au top - Super hôtel ! Literie excellente ! Très bon restaurant ! Bon petit déjeuner! Personnel agréable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful setting, beautiful room, great service.
Hotelkamer mooi, groot, schoon, netjes onderhouden.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was great. My only comment is you need to get great coffee. Yours was very ordinary. Maybe look at getting some beautiful breads, not many people like plain white bread. Otherwise fantastic, the best bed I have ever slept on.
Thank you julue
- Yvonne (8/5): Leuk hotel - Leuk, kleinschalig hotel. Schone, ruime kamers.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - it is a nice hotel, and the stay was overall good.
one thing to note - Internet was terrible, impossible to use even for light tasks.
Not central, so you need a bike to get around.
- GILES (8/5): Small and personal - As the name says, i is a small boutique hotel some 10kms from downtown Ubud. The area is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is a two storied building with an attractive swimming pool in the middle. Service was very good and polite and friendly. Food was good but not haute cuisine. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms big. A good place to stay if you want to avoid the hustle and crowds of Ubud.
- Olivier (10/5): Bon hôtel - Très bonne place où séjourner !
- Blair (10/5): Loved this wonderful hotel - My husband and I stayed for 4 nights and we wished we booked for longer. There was nothing about this hotel that we could fault. The owner was there regularly checking everything was ok. The staff were amazing, friendly and brilliant with anything we needed. The food was always hot and tasty and the prices for food and drink are very reasonable. The shuttle bus service means that the distance to ubud centre is not an issue.. we actually walked one day and it was a pleasant walk down there. If we come back to Ubud this will be the first place that we check in to! Hopefully into room 111 again!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was the first place we stayed during our vacation. It couldn't have been a better experience. The property was perfect. The room was beautiful. I loved the pool view and their restaurant has really good food. Their continental breakfast options were amazing! The very best part, though, was the staff. Absolutely amazing. Antoni in particular was the single best server I've ever had. He was so friendly and attentive. It's a pretty small property so you get really individualized service. I can't wait to stay there again when we go back!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Well maintained, good staff, tasty food..the resort if calm to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was great! Staff was amazing and the breakfast was excellent! We had an amazing time!
- stephen (10/5): Nature-friendly - Simply Beautiful! - We could not have been happier w our choice! From the moment we checked in and throughout the entire stay. The cleanliness of this place is immaculate, right from the lobby area to the restaurant, the pool and as well as the room - very well looked after! Staff were attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, afternoon tea is provided daily and complimentary fruit bowl in the room. The atmosphere is incredible and very relaxing. Really can’t fault it in any way. We would very much recommend to give this place a shot as it deserves it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice to be in a beach front resort to begin or wind down a resort stay. Nice breakfast option which we took advantage of. Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel staff and their services provided were commendable. However, unfortunately, room and facilities were not as great as shown in pictures. Creaking wardrobes, stained towels and aircon didnt work well causing us to sleep humidly for the first night. They were great in ensuring they could served us well n made us changed room, sadly, still the same. Overall, great experience with staff, sadly not the place tho.
- Chelsea (10/5): Magical experience - It was wonderful! The staff was great and very attentive. The location was beautiful and I would love to stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff were absolutely amazing! Food was lovely! Only downside
- braden (6/5): Decent place, Ubud is overrun - Ubud is beat. The hotel was fine but overall feeling of tourism running the place, not culture.
- Verified traveler (6/5): not fabulous stay at all - The place was not as clean as they make it out to be in photos. By the breakfast table area, I dont mind flies as much but there was a flying cockroach on the dining table and after it was killed they did not wipe down the area. Which makes me wonder about the sanitary level of the hotel. The bathroom was filled with so much scum every where and the room always smelled of dried sweat. The bed sheets and towels all smelled really musky and not clean.
The thing that made me most upset was that they rip you off on the taxis. I had a spa session at the Como hotel and they picked us up from deep in Ubud centre towards the Monkey Forest (3.2 km). It cost us nothing to be picked up to take spa services at this hotel and when we headed back it cost us 30,000 IDR from Como Ubud Hotel to D'Bulakan (2.1km). D'bulakan charged 70,000 IDR to go half the distance to Naughty Nuri's (2.2km) and 50,000 IDR to go to Ritz Carlton which was a 2 mins car ride (700 metres) from the hotel. Is it because the rooms are cheaper they are trying to make money otherwise? It's really ridiculous to be jipping your guests.
One positive note of the stay was that the pool area was quite cute and the room and bed are spacious. I would just prefer honesty and cleanliness over those things though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great breakfast - Clean room. Big comfy bed. Great breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great good - Amazing pool. Cold a/c. Great breakfast!!
- Mary (8/5): Worth it - Very comfortable stay, clean room, good service. Food was alright. Accommodating staff.
- Lane (10/5): - Wonderful little boutique hotel, everything was up to standard. Utilized the free shuttle into Ubud center a few times. Breakfast was very filling. Not too much going on around the hotel, a few convenience stores close by and bbq place a few hundred meters down the road.
- simonetta (8/5): Nice atmosphere in the outskirts of Ubud - Ideal if you need relax and you want to combine your visit of Ubud with a lazy time ‘home’, hanging out by the swimming pool with a good book, getting something from the delicious restaurant.
Most of the staff is super friendly and professional. After four days I didn’t feel it was too long a stay at all!
- Duncan (10/5): Great stay - Very relaxing place, and the staff went out of their way to help make it that way. A bit outside Ubud center, but the free shuttle made it convenient. Small hotel, so had the pool to ourselves a lot of the time.
- Tim (10/5): Great, relaxing stay - I loved this hotel for its friendly and relaxing ambiance. The room was superb, balcony overlooking the pool. I would stay again.
- Florence (10/5): - This was an amazing hotel! Really fantastic. The beds were so comfortable, the pool was amazing, the free shuttle was handy as it is a bit out of the way, but that really doesn't matter. If you can't catch the shuttle then taxis are cheap. Beautiful place, great hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice hotel, location a little far for us. - Very nice hotel! Breakfast was really good and the staff were super friendly and willing to help book whatever we needed. Location was a little too far from town for us (we walked and it took about 45 minutes), they have a shuttle to ubud town about 4 times a day or you can get a taxi.
- Parul (10/5): - Very friendly staff. But not much options to eat for vegetarians.
- Hailey (4/5): Black mold, but friendly staff - Upon arrival, we noticed a musty smell to the room but wrote it off to the smell of the incense that had recently been burned. The next morning, my partner woke up on the verge of an asthma attack and had to step outside for an hour to catch his breath. I looked around the room and found black mold on the whole wall of the bedroom and on the ceiling of the bathroom; our guess is that the unit above leaked at some point and was never properly cleaned. The hotel staff were very kind and accommodating and allowed us to move into another room for the next night of our stay. This one was much cleaner, but we’re still upset that we spent an entire night inhaling black mold spores. For future reference of which to stay away from, room #103 had the mold.
Outside of the bad room experience, the pool is beautiful, and the restaurant on-site is great. The shuttle into town is convenient also. We won’t be returning, but perhaps we just had bad luck and got the one dirty room.
- Ash (10/5): Absolute perfection! - This small hotel must be one of the hidden gems in Ubud and wider Bali. The rooms are large and spacious, the outdoor shower is a touch of genius. The whole set up gives you a feeling that you are sat in an Oasis... It's peaceful, quiet and airy. At night there is literally no noise apart from maybe the Geko in the gardens :-)
Special mention to the staff who are so friendly and attentive. Nothing is impossible for them. When the rains come down they are quick to cover the sunbeds etc.
Breakfast is good but otherwise the food is a bit limited. However plenty of places to eat out in Ubud centre which itself is not far away and the hotel provides a shuttle service to and from there.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone... One of the best experiences I've had anywhere in the world. Will definitely be coming back.
- Karen (4/5): - The property was quaint
To far out of Ubud
Unfortunately it was very damp this made the room damp
Beds were on the hard side
Staff were terrific
Food was limited
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great getaway resort - Excellent Resort, friendly staff and good room service. Wi-Fi can be a bit inconsistent but otherwise nice stay. It is a few minute shuttle bus away from centre of Ubud but you'll find you only need to go to Ubud for a day and rest will be relaxing by the pool or picked up direct from the resort.
- Dino (10/5): Very serene and nice place to stay - A good place to stay; away from the busy and hustle of the city. Quiet, serene and cosy
- Jane (10/5): A hidden oasis - I loved the ambience of d'bulakan, lovely friendly helpful staff, the hotel is a little oasis it's only down side is hidden away to far from anything to wander to in the evening, d'bulakan do put on a shuttle services to the centre of Ubud. And if you book trips normally they come inclusive of a driver that comes and picks you up, although because of the distance out, a motorbike turned up to take us into a more central part of town to begin a booked trip.
It stands out how all the staff are happy to work there all get on and put the customer at the foremost, continually cleaning with smiles on there faces.
The food at d'bulakan is excellent fresh and tasty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good, quiet, really peaceful location, out of the Ubud town centre, which is far too tourisity
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel - The stay was superb, we really enjoyed our time here, the staff was friendly and helpful. The place is a little away from the main city market, however not more than a 15 minute drive.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Generally good place to stay - The hotel is located about 10-20 minutes drive outside Ubud (depending on traffic). The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service although it only does 4 drops/ pick-ups per day.
I found the hotel to be clean and it's staff, friendly. My biggest gripe about my stay was the buffet breakfast; the restaurant is open-air and so there are lots of flies around and although some food nets are provided, there were often flies sitting on food that was and wasn't covered. The a-la-carte breakfast option was much better, when this could be facilitated. My room was close to the restaurant but I didn't get a lot of noise from it. There was quite a lot of noise at the back of the room though from the cockerels (in the facility behind the hotel) which started early morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): comfy relaxing - great place with everything at your fingertips. one of my favourite hotels we stayed at on our 3 weeks in Bali.
- Nicholas (8/5): A luxurious boutique hotel - We stayed for three nights at d'bulakan and it was fabulous. Not the best neighbourhood – not dangerous or anything, and very quiet, but a 15 minute walk or free shuttle from the hotel is required to get to major centres of interest. (And, being used to a Canadian autumn, a 15 minute walk in 35°C heat was a bit of a challenge.)
Very clean, very hospitable boutique hotel that was accommodating and helpful. Super friendly staff, great spa, nice pool, and an overall luxurious atmosphere. The pool-level rooms have a cute outdoor shower, too.
Overall, highly recommended. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice place to stay - While the surroundings and the room was very good, what makes this place special was the staff. Night or day the staff was very attentive and very accommodating to everyone. I would suggest you consider getting a room with an outdoor shower, it was a very nice touch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was friendly, helpful and efficient. Hotel was beautiful and close to Main Street. Hotel provided complimentary shuttles as well. Bed was big and comfortable and outside shower was amazing! Loved this place and would definitely return!
- Mariana (8/5): great service and nice design hotel - The hotel has great service, and the look is nice, the only thing I didn't like was the bathroom, too dark, and I did't like that the shower has no door.
They have a few drivers that can take you to ubud center or to other places, for no charge.
They have a very nice spa, and the prices are really good.
- Jenell (10/5): A fabulous place to stay! - I stayed in an upstairs room and just loved it. Everyone on the staff was so friendly, and the place had a great atmosphere. The food was very good and it was lovely to dine by the pool at night.
- Heather (10/5): Excellent chic little boutique hotel ~ love it! - I travelled solo, and spent 2 nights at d'bulakan boutique resort in Ubud. I absolutely loved it there. A modern, newer, very clean little hotel tucked away in off the street. Quiet location. I loved the open outdoor restaurant with great foo. Very relaxing pool area, I swam both nights, enjoyed the temperature of the pool. The room was really nice, clean, very comfortable, comfy bed, nice bathroom, and perfect view off the little balcony. The staff was top notch! Very friendly, and immediate with assisting me. I'll definitely go back there!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect! - I could not fault this hotel if I tried. The staff were absolutely amazing and the room was stunning. Will definitely be back.
- BADAR (10/5): The staff were great ,The Hotel was very clean and - The Hotel was very clean and comfortable.
The staff were great
- Shayle (10/5): So peaceful - Best hotel of our stay so far in bali between 12.05 - 16.05.15 the honeymoon room/package
Pros:
* Cleanliness 10 out of 10 - room cleaned daily and was always spotless couldn't fault (which is what I needed because I'm a clean freak when it comes to the bathroom)
* Always service with a smile, staff are always welcoming, smiling, not once did we see a miserable face.
* Desserts even though small we're delicious.
* Breakfast included is a wide variety from western dishes to Asian dishes (just ask what's included and they'll let you know)
* Bed is enormous and comfy, I like my sleeping space we could fit a 3rd person on the bed and still have space
* Warung Lalapan a few stalls down serves the best dishes (nice and spicy) and pretty affordable dishes approx $2.50 or less per dish.
* Bali Adventures are a few doors down and the food there even though pricy for Bali best presentation and we'll worth the money
*ATM near as well if need to pull money out
Cons:
* WiFi need more work, keeps dropping out unless down by pool
*Asian dishes aren't as flavorsome and not as spicy as should be (cater too much for western society)
* More than 1hr from airport (really long drive)
- OLIVIA (10/5): Beautiful oasis on outer ubud - A little far from ubud. 25 minute walk from town but there is a shuttle.
- Florin & Acha (10/5): Good choice, you gonna like it !!! - I recommend this resort to everyone. Good location, good condition, good food, free shuttle to Ubud center, pool is there for your relaxation, spa give you discount, employees are always willing to serve you !!!
I was there only for 5 days, but I really recommend this place !!!
I been here with my wife and parents in-low and we enjoy everything !
- Steven (10/5): Would love to return... - I recently stayed @ the D'Abulakan for 7 nights. Rather a beautiful yet small hotel surrounding a dreamy, warm pool with tropic plant life that leaves you breathless. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom & additional outdoor shower in my case the things vacation dreams are made of. The staff kept me smiling with a continuous supply of my favorite fresh squeezed juices, deliciously prepared meals, all at prices, like the rest of Bali, that are incredibly low, at least by my American standards. The hotel staff was very attentive to my every need. They are all young & adorable. Their smiles, greetings, & warm personalities give one hope for the world.
- ryan (10/5): Great little hotel - Great, friendly staff, very accommodating. The room I had on the ground floor was spacious, clean and opened out onto the pool! Hotel is very quiet, a bit of a drive from the centre of Ubud. Staff are happy to drop and fetch you from the centre whenever it suits you, or organise tours and taxis if you want. I Would go back and I would recommend it to others. Local Warungs in the area are also worth a visit.
- Bing (10/5): Great hotel with good value - Nice place with great breakfast included, absolutely loved it.
- Jing (8/5): Good value boutique hotel - Friendly and helpful staff. We called front desk in the middle of the night because of a mosquito problem, and they came immediately with some plugged-in insect repellent, worked a treat. Enormous bed, if that's what you are after. Not in ubud centre. Hotel has few shuttles a day to ubud but timing yourself to catch those is a challenge. For a small fee, they can drive you to ubud centre any time. Close to Bali adventure tours which was a bonus, particularly if you'll be dripping wet after rafting. Not a fan of the small vanity, or the configuration of the shower, made the whole bathroom floor wet.
- Frank (10/5): Great Hotel near Ubud - D'bulakan is an excellent hotel. Spent 3 weelks in total so nice efficient helpful staff.
I want to return again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Reservation room - failed. - I had planned to stay at Bali, Ubud for 3 days and 2 nights. I had reserved 2 nights at d'bulakan boutique resort ubud because it is a newer resort (About 3 months old when I arrived). On the first night I arrived at the hotel lobby, the staffed asked for my reservation print-out. After providing the reservation I made, the staff mentioned that there was no room available for me. I was told inconsistent information by the staffs for the reason they were unable to provide the room. One mentioned that the shower and toilet didn't work at the time; another told that they had double booked the room - rendering pointless for making reservation/booking. Obviously, this was a disappointing and upsetting experience. The best thing they could do was to transfer me to another further away, cheaper and older hotel by the same management. With the existing problem, I had to end my enjoyment time in Bali early the following day, to pack and move to the d'bulakan boutique resort ubud for the second night. There were no apology nor compensation from the hotel for the mistake they made. It was the sort of "unfortunately and deal with-it" attitude that I received. (As I am fluent in Indonesian language, I can assure that there were no language barriers that may create any sort of communication misunderstanding). This made my 20 hours trip from Vancouver, Canada, felt less pleasing of a vacation than it could have been.
- Shu (8/5): Vacation - Good at all, friendly staff, internet not work couple hrs.
- Ves (10/5): Very very impressed - I am proud to call it home. I could not find any fault with the resort at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful hotel. Suitable for couples. - Brand new hotel in the hustle and bustle of Ubud. You are not aware of the busy road outside. Is a drive away from Ubud center but the 10 minutes is worth it for the hotel itself.
- Frank (10/5): Nice Hotel in Ubud - This is a lovely new clean hotel just 15 mins outside Ubud but there is a bus shuttle.
The staff are very friendly helpful and aim to please. Food is good.
- Adel (10/5): Very spacious, clean room with very large bathroom - We were welcomed with a wet flannel and a welcome drink. Checked in quickly and shown to our room without fuss. During our stay we ate at the in house restaurant and enjoyed the food and the good service. We could have stayed longer as the place had charm and all the staff were very attentive to our needs.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice facilities but.. - Hotel staff were nice but communication in English wasn't easy with miscommunication resulting in several frustrating inconveniences. Even when you book the shuttle back from ubud centre they will leave without you unless you spot them and pounce. The rooms themselves are lovely however every morning my bathroom smelt like sewerage and on my last day the smell was through my entire room with no remedy to this. Breakfast was never ready from 7, more like 7:30.
- Kez (10/5): Delightful and comfortable place to stay! - My husband Dave & I had farewelled our kids back to Australia and wanted a quiet boutique style resort for our last few days in Bali. The d'bulakan is a 10 minute drive from the central area of Ubud and is easily accessed with the free resort shuttle service. This place is an oasis of comfort and personal attention when returning from the hustle and bustle of busy Ubud or sightseeing. We felt like we were part of a family during our stay.
The place while very new, is designed in a traditional Balinese style and all rooms overlook the pool and eating area. Our ground floor room opened directly to the pool and we were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves one day. Comfy lounges, big umbrellas and a sparkling clean pool, Bliss! We didn't leave the place all day.
The gorgeous staff in the restaurant looked after us beautifully, however the place ran out of gin! and on one night there was no cold beer left at 7 pm! The place is going through some small teething problems but we encountered nothing but helpful, smiling and delightful service from everyone.
The hotel put on traditional Balinese BBQ of suckling pig and dancing one night and we had a delightful time. Another night a couple of smiling young men entertained us playing traditional xylophone instruments.
Our room, bed and pillows were perfect, and I loved the outdoor shower. A DVD player can be hired but it would be better if this was a standard inclusion.
Thank you to all at d'bulakan for our lovely stay
- Lyn (10/5): Relax and unwind by the Pool - We were looking for a sanctuary to relax and unwind and we found it here. The beautiful surrounds, the great staff and luxury amenities made for a wonderful stay. The d'bulakan was an oasis to come back to after a day out exploring the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return again.
