Guest Reviews
- Bill (10/5): - Very clean cabin. Nice to have a bathroom in the cabin.
- April (6/5): Hope you love Fabuloso cleaning products - We stayed on a Sunday to Monday so probably not their busiest time. First went into the Country Store to check in and found no one to help. Then went across to the restaurant/bar and found out that is where we were to check in at. Thats fine, but maybe a sign to let people know where to go. The staff was very friendly and checking in took just a few minutes. We didn't eat or drink there, but it looked clean and the customers who were there looked happy.
The cabin was cute and fit well in the wooded setting. It had what I needed to have a comfortable stay. The only problem was the cleaning product used was such a strong overpowering smell that it was unpleasant. A bit hard to breath. We appreciated that it had been cleaned, but the smell was so bad. We left the windows open and the fans on and left to do our scheduled activity early to get away from the smell. It didn't help. Upon our return the smell was just as strong. We went to sleep and woke up with sore throats and flemmy lungs. Not just me, but my wife as well.
The whole Lake Wonaka "resort" is a little rundown looking, but it was still a place I would stay again if they just change their cleaning produts.
- Micah (10/5): Loved it!! - Great people, great atmosphere!
- theresa (10/5): - Amazing place, we have been coming here for years! Love the staff and the bar, restaurant and splash pad too. Would definitely recommend.
- Jennifer (6/5): - The cabin was extremely old. The window wasn't properly secured in the frame—just held in place with duct tape—and it kept falling out. The carpet was filthy and had a strong moldy odor. The bathroom plumbing also gave off a terrible smell.
- pat (2/5): - The bathroom was horrible could not fit on toliet and no one answered the phone in the office for the 3 days i stayed had to drive 14 miles to use bathroom
- vincent (8/5): - Cabin was nice, clean,
awesome A/C, quiet, plenty of room, nice front porch.
Katie was AWESOME very nice and helpful.
The on site bar/restaurant (KC Peppers) had awesome food and very nice, helpful staff.
Had a great time.
A little hard to find a real person sometimes.
We wish the cabin had a full kitchen not just a small fridge and microwave (king cabin)
Cabin could use a little more update to the shower.
- Norma (2/5): - Smells like cat urine
- Johnny (10/5): - Had such a nice stay! The area is very pretty, and the cabin we stayed in was so cozy and cute. Only thing was the TV being in a weird spot, we wished we could watch it while laying in bed. Other than that, we really enjoyed it!
- James J. (8/5): - The staff are friendly and helpful people. Check in was in the on-site restaurant. It was smooth and our cabin was the closest one to the playground and splashpad. It was an easy walk to eat, play in the pond (full of inquisitive fish who will follow you) and enjoy the splashpad or playground. This cake would have been iced perfectly with some sort of "welcome guide" printout talking about local attractions, explaining the property and the funciton of the room features.
- Flavor (10/5): - Our experience at Lake Wanoka Resort in the Poconos was absolutely amazing! The cabin was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway for my husbands birthday. It felt like a true home away from home. The peaceful setting, surrounded by nature, made it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The resort grounds are amazing. The other campers were so friendly. There is also a restaurant on the resort and the staff are so nice. My husband and I connected with so many people and they made us feel like family. The food at the Resturant is really good and the bartender Seth is Excellent with drinks.
I highly recommend this resort for couples, families, or anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of the Poconos in a comfortable and welcoming place. We’ll definitely be back!
Special thank you to Ms. Katie thank you so much for everything.
- bob (10/5): - Cabin in the wooded area was simple, but great.
Only 2 coffee pods in the room, could have used more.
- Tracy (10/5): - Always nice staying there
- Tonya (10/5): - The only thing I found to be an issue is the cabin I stayed in the doors opened to the outside not the inside and they didn’t latch well into seeding the door from a K9 alerting a person driving by! My K9 barked at a car going by the cabin and jumped up on the door which flung open and now my K9 is in the road! Not good right. Suggest you do some maintenance to your doors on cabin #7. To prevent any dog from possibly getting free. Other than that I loved the place!
- Jacqueline (10/5): - It is a great place to stay at a great price and has a nice restaurant on site
- Sandra (10/5): - What a beautiful cabin. My husband and i loved everything about it. Well kept up. Friendly staff. We will differently come again. Thank you
- Clarisa (8/5): - Its a pretty quiet and peaceful place.
- William (10/5): - Very cozy retreat
- Elle (8/5): - Loved it
- Brandon (10/5): - This was our second time here. We will be back again. The property and cabin are very cozy. The perfect place to go relax. The cabin was clean and comfortable for both of our stays. The fire pit outside made for some nice nights. If your hungry walk right down to the KC Pepper for some great food. Everytime we ate there, we left more than stuffed. I highly recommend this stay to anyone but, at the same time I want to keep it all to myself!
- Christin (6/5): - Lovely cabin but 2 out of 3 heating sources do not work. The hot water doesn’t stay hot enough to fill the bathtub so I didn’t use it. Really icy everywhere, no salt anywhere. Dangerous especially for my husband healing from knee surgery. Also having to go to the bar to get the key to the room was inconvenient. There was no office and took us a bit to figure out how to even check in. I was glad I was not alone to have to check at night at a bar.
- Rosaland (2/5): - You need more staff the poor lady is running around like crazy. No one to get in touch with because you only have 1 person working. The roads were horrible. The fulton was cheap and you can feel the metal. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone.
- Bradley (10/5): - Awesome time
- Bermary (10/5): Great stay - The cabins were very nice and service was wonderful! We even got upgraded to a really nice comfy cabin.
- Jenel (10/5): - This property was a find for us, who travel with our dogs. The cabin was comfortable, clean, quiet and convenient to Hawley where we were meeting with relatives. The only concern we had was with communication. We had some specific questions which could not be answered by Expedia but were answered when the "owner" replied to our weekend queries. Upon arriving, there was no one to check us in, and only by chance were we able to flag someone down to charge our card, and more importantly, give us a key! Our dogs enjoyed the Dog Park and walks around the property, and we enjoyed the serenity. Sadly, our schedule did not permit a visit to the pub which looked inviting. I would happily recommend this property.
- Theresa (10/5): - Love everything!
- Vanessa (10/5): - Amazing
- Saneria (10/5): - Love this place!
- Keith (8/5): - Nice place have stayed several times
- Dora (10/5): - Cozy, peaceful, quiet
- Verified traveler (8/5): My stay - Porch and porch furniture could have been cleaned off.
The toilet is positioned too close to the shower making it very awkward to use.
The location is beautiful and it’s comfortable other than the toilet
- Alma (10/5): Quaint and comfortable - A very quaint location. Very minimal staff but absolutely helpful and friendly.
- alexander (2/5): - Got there to check in could not find the office to check in asked around no one would answer me. I called and left messages to call me back. I waited two hours in the parking lot for someone to return my call so I had to leave and find another room very inconvenient and unprofessional.
- Miriam (2/5): - Where do I start? This cabin had light bulbs that didn't work.Uncovered electrical outlets. Very slippery shower( I had to go purchase a shower mat!). COBWEBS like it was decorated for Halloween. TV didn't work. WiFi didn't work.Terrible potholes on all this entrance roads. I would NEVER stay here again!!
- Renee (10/5): - We had a lot planned between taking in a play at the Ritz playhouse in Hawley, Antiquing in the surrounding area, to Monster trucks event at the Wayne County Fair and a train ride in Honesdale. We picked a cabin at Lake Wanoka resort/campgrounds which put us in the center of all of our activities. We have be coming here for 15 years and have stayed in all cabins. We walk down to KC Peppers Restaurant on site to eat and food is great. There is a splash park for the kiddos, tennis courts, sitting out down by the pond or sit outside of cabin on the porch and have a campfire. We do take our own camping chairs though to use. Cabins have electric, microwaves, mini refrigerators, TV with roku, shampoo/conditioner, towels, pillows and sheets (though we bring our own but that's just me where ever we go). You can bring a grill and grill out if you wish.
- Alexis (8/5): - The cabin itself was nice. There were areas, like around the beds, that definitely haven’t been cleaned in a while as there were many dead spiders and trash and things. The WiFi wouldn’t work for the TV. But AC was cold, kitchenette was very nice. Comfy and clean bedding. Only real complaint is that Expedia lists the cost as fully paid even when the location doesn’t charge your card til you arrive. It was a very frustrating unexpected expense.
- Ben (10/5): - Nice cabins in nice quiet outdoorsy area
- michelle (10/5): - All good!
- Melissa (10/5): - Clean cabin beautiful upgraded bathroom. Quiet and cozy place.
- Alyson (6/5): - Nice night of camping
- Gary (6/5): Where's the lake? - Stay was OK. Had presumed by the name of the place that it would be at least within view or short walking distance to Lake Wanoka, but it wasn't even close. But was very nice getting in late and being able to catch a decent meal and drink on site at KC Peppers. Staff there were especially helpful and friendly as well.
- Lyndsie (10/5): - Great place perfect weekend get away
- Robert (10/5): - Rustic cabin in a wooded area. Quiet and beautiful
- Brian (10/5): - Very friendly place
- Jodi (10/5): - We love it at Lake Wanoka Resort!!!!! They are great!!! So accommodating!!! Can't wait to go back next year!!!
- judy (4/5): - The cabin we rented did not have a mirror anywhere, not in the bathroom at all .
Cabins were sparse but ok.
- marc (10/5): Well worth it! - Wanted to find a quiet cabin in the woods and it was perfect. Resturant is very good and reasonably priced.
- Craig (10/5): - The place is just relaxing and fantastic. This was second trip there with on a month.
- Mike (10/5): - Highly recommend this property.
- Craig (10/5): - It was just nice and relaxing and peaceful.
- Amanda (10/5): - Enjoyed the stay, wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night. Staff was very helpful and responsive when called. Will stay again.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - We have stayed here before while visiting family its a great price, but the tv did not have channels
- Eileen (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin 11 was great. The bed was very comfortable and the cabin was private our dog loved it there too! The only thing I could say to improve is it could definitely use a small table with a few chairs. The cabin was nicer then I expected. The restaurant was also pretty neat inside. The people were very friendly and the food was delicious. We hope to comeback again in the summer and hopefully the weather will cooperate next time.
- Jim (2/5): - Bathroom sink, tub and entire cabin floor littered with "ants" in various stages of dying off. Found insect trap in corner of bathroom with a pile of "ants" around it. Traveling with 2 dogs who started showing interest in the "ants" on floor. Felt unsafe for all to stay there given the obvious presence of insecticide and sick "ants" in the cabin. No onsite management for resolution. Left property.
- Nicole (8/5): - Cabin had a sewer smell in the morning
- Lynn M (10/5): - Property manager Patty was very accommodating with special request involving check in and staff was prepared for fast easy check in. Heat was on and cabin filled with toiletries and clean linens
- Lauren (10/5): - Loved the individual cabins with fireplace and tub. People were very friendly. Would absolutely stay again
- Brandon (10/5): - A great weekend getaway! We stayed in the king suite and it did not dissappoint. Very cozy and clean cabin. Very quiet property. Dining at the KC Pepper Bar and Grill was excellent and the staff was great. We cant wait to visit again
- Jim (10/5): - Rufus their labradoodle greeeted us when we arrived. Owner was extremly nice and upgraded our cabin for pur stay the bar and groll had a good menu snd plenty of drink options
- Sarah (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and the cabin was very cute. It was cozy, but provided plenty of space for dog crates. We loved walking around the area with the dogs, but were so excited to see the dog park/run and was extremely satisfied with how secure it was. We had a great experience and can't wait to make plans to return in the future
- Rachel (10/5): - Perfect little spot! Clean, comfortable and the staff is top notch!
- Carmen (8/5): - When we came in at night and it was very nice and seemed more only staying for one night so so far really nice thank you
- Ellen (6/5): - This place was good except it wreaked like Fabuloso (which is a cleaner if you don’t know). The smell was so overwhelming and our stuff even smelled like it after we came home. I think there should also be a note somewhere that you check in at the restaurant; we didn’t know where to go and I went in there for help; luckily the girl told me I could just check in there. It’s nice that there’s a fireplace.
- WILLIE (10/5): Couples get away. - The cabin was nice It was clean. It had everything we needed small fridge microwave A little sitting area with a couch that turned into a Let out bed The main bed was ok The mattress was a little too soft and squeaky. Other than that I had a really nice time And I would stay again in the future
- Kristin (10/5): - This is our favorite place to go for our anniversary each year we come back! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. So much so that this morning we woke up and noticed we had a flat tire. We went to the general store and the woman working is an absolute pleasure to deal with! Another employee named Mike went out of his way to get the site’s air compressor and filled our tire so that we could make it home safely. Who does that anymore, no one except for this resort. My husband and I fell in love with this little resort 10 years ago and we’ll always come back. The food at KC Pepper is phenomenal and extremely well portioned. We love that we’re helping to support a small family owned business. The resort always goes well above and beyond and I’m extremely grateful that we have this little piece of serenity so close to our home. Thank you again Lake Wanoka Resort for another amazing trip, next year we’re making it a two night stay because one night is never enough!
- KAREN (10/5): - Good for a get away cabin
- Tanya (10/5): - Cabin is beautiful and super clean. You can walk to the restaurant and have a drink and excellent dinner! Very pet friendly!!
- Cynthia (4/5): Really? - Checki in was at a bar on the property. I was harassed and called names by some patrons. The experience was unsettling. The harassment made me feel unsafe. Not a place for a person traveling alone.
- Virginia (8/5): Nice stay - I have never stayed in a place like this before but with dogs, small town boutiques were not an option.
Cabin was clean, bed comfortable, nice and quiet!
Restaurant food was also really good
- Renee (10/5): - We love this quiet place. We come to get away once or twice a year. Patty is a great lady and goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. Until we stay again Thank you Chris & Renee'
- Bobbie (10/5): - Great see you next year
- Laura (10/5): - Amazing! Would go back again!
- Cheryl (10/5): - This was the first time we stayed at this campground which happens to be only 20 minutes from home. We rented the efficiency cabin. This little weekend getaway exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for our family, ages spanning from 8 to 58. Because we live in the area, my husband and son were able to stop by after work and have dinner with us and then came back the next day to swim and hang out. The pond was my favorite spot as I sat at the water's edge to cool off while the big kids swam farther out. We ate one meal at the restaurant--it was excellent! And I agree with many
other people's comments about how friendly the staff is! We already plan on returning next summer and have mentioned that this will be one of our annual summer activities.
- Kim (6/5): - Property could be cleaned up a little..replace the bq grills
- Naomi (10/5): - It was pleasant
- Ryan (10/5): - Stayed one night before heading to our AirBB. What a fabulous choice we made. Loved our room and the wife loved the bathroom with soaking tube. Relaxed all evening with a fire and ate dunner take out from the on aite restaurant on our patio witch was outstanding. Had lunch the following day after check out with our 6 month old pup on the restaurant patio. Definitely a great stay..
- Mary (10/5): - we have been going here for years and we love it
- Julie (4/5): - Advertising cable TV and wifi is quite a stretch. Limited Wifi if you stand in the middle of the road and five snowy TV channels that no one would want to watch.
- Anne (10/5): - Really clean Cabins, friendly and helpful staff, great food!
- Bobbie (8/5): - Great place. Wasnt crowded. Wasnt happy with the first place and with 15 minutes we were moved to an upgrade room. Great time.
- jodi (10/5): - Very friendly!!! KC Pepper was awesome!!!! Loved the cabin!!!! Super pet friendly!!!! Can't wait to go back for another stay!!!!!
- Janelle (10/5): - Staff was friendly and welcoming! Family friendly!
- Howard (10/5): - All around great place
- Robert (10/5): - The cabin was rustic but pleasant. Two things I would suggest is a key Dropbox for customers to leave their keys should the office not be opened when they checkout. Also, I think they should provide a brochure explaining restaurant hours, where to place trash and any other useful information.
- Allen (10/5): - Friendly staff, and very quite nice get away
- Joelle (10/5): - Amazing!
- Clarisa (4/5): - What I liked is tranquility and peace that is enjoyed while you are in the room and even when you are sitting in front of the fireplace.
I didn't like it, is the property need updated and have more recreation areas.
- Matthewe (10/5): - Staff was amazing and took care of any issues that came right away.
- Kim (10/5): - Ok
- Alison (6/5): - Never received Wi-Fi info. Difficult to get a call back from administration. No one in the office ever.
- Aubrie (10/5): - Really enjoyed my little getaway. Everything was perfect.
- Samantha (10/5): - I absolutely loved our stay, from the beginning to the end it was excellent. They are extremely dog friendly, they even have a dog park! We loved the hiking trails and really enjoyed our meal from KC Peppers. The room was outstanding, from the very comfortable King size bed to the roomy soaking tub we loved every but of it.
- Samantha (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay and would book again. The outside needs to be updated
- debbie (10/5): - It is a beautiful place to spend a weekend or vacation.
We are in love with the place and the staff are super friendly people, we brought our dog and she had so much fun in the dog park , KC pepper is the name of the restaurant in the resort they were so nice , helped us to accommodate so we can have Sammy with us all the time , the food and service was awesome - 5 stars.
We’re definitely coming back
❤️Debbie ,Josh & Sammy .
- Kimberly (10/5): - Everything was great..
- Chantel (2/5): This place is not a resort - This place calls themselves a resort but their office closes at 8pm. We traveled from 3 hours away and was not aware they closed at 8pm. We arrived a few mins after 8pm and no one was there to give us access. We called, contacted hotels.com and even they could not get thru. The least the hotel should do if they have a reservation is call people to make them aware the office closes. Glad I brought someone along last min because this was going to be a solo trip so I would have been a single female stranded in the dark winter with no place to stay. Luckily, I found another hotel last minute.
- Theresa (10/5): - Very peaceful and the staff were wonderful.
- Joseph (6/5): - Space between cabins. Firepit outside the cabin. Spacious porch/picnic table. Inside was clean.
Could use a small table and chairs for dining inside.
- Sheila (10/5): - We loved it!
- Susan (10/5): - The cabin was just ok. The bed to low to the floor and couldn’t watch what little channels of tv they had from bed. Not to impressed
