Guest Reviews
- Vuyo (6/5): - The day after we got there our neighbors woke up so early and their car was pumping music nonstop I eventually called the Reception after 2 hours was told that they would send Securities into the place. Was so disappointed that there is no wi fi coverage in the rooms even in the Restaurant area you must sit in a certain area, that for me was a no no my kids wanted us to move out immediately we realize that we were screwed. The day before I checked out same thing happened, my neighbors played their Radio like they were in a Party. Like I mean, are there no rules in that place? People are there to rest and not being woken up by the inconsiderate people.
- Neil (8/5): Not Bad - The stay in room 48 was all good except for 3 things. 1. Aircon was broken 2. The tv channels where all bad with signal and could not watch tv 3. The package inculded Wifi but there was no Wifi at all.
- André (2/5): - Simply horrible and poor service
- Ngomerzulu (6/5): Feedback - No WiFi and No working Dstv especially advertised online. Poor natural light in room 79, noisy wedding party not suitable for babies, but it was okay
- Stuart (2/5): Worst run and managed place I have EVER stayed at - Sad that such a beautiful place is so badly managed.
Dinner - no Amstel which was not really an issue. They had 5 choices on the menu, 3 of which you could not have as they had no beef. So, I went and ate elsewhere.
The breakfast experience was worse. Supposed to start at 6;30 and could only start around 7;10 because the staff arrived late for work, even the new restaurant manager.
you could have coffee, if you did not want milk, as they did not have any. Toast, if you liked it dry as they had no butter, or margarine.
When the actual breakfast did arrive, it was cold, fridge cold......... So, I did not eat that either.
In these times where occupancy is so low, should they not go out of their way to ensure the guest are happy and return and spread the word so that more people go there?
I MOST CERTAINLY WILL NOT BE BACK THERE - EVER!!!!
- Kyle (4/5): Will not see me again! ! ! - Had no beef, ate somewhere els,
In the morning, no milk,
- Farouk (8/5): Stunning views - The lodge is situated on a hill between Mbombela and White river and not too far from Riverside mall and casino, the location is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views. The rooms are clean and comfortable, however there are only 4 television channels, Sabc 123 and Etv and the reception is terrible, also there is no wifi as advertised which is misleading, the shower is a nightmare, I was unable to get the hot and cold water to mix properly, besides that I enjoyed staying there and the rates were very reasonable compared to other places in the vicinity, probably will come back for a night or two
- Mzwandile (8/5): - Alwaysoon point. Will definitely comeback again.
- Thabo (6/5): Just an ok trip - My stay was ok, We were limited to one channel. I struggled to balance the hot and cold water from the shower.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent stay, had a fabulous stay. Great service from Staff at the establishment. Definately highly recommended.
- Albert (4/5): Deteriorating standard - Sub-standard furniture, basin in room. Cleanliness questionable. Very noisy. Construction work commencing in early hours of the morning. Give this a miss.
- Nonkululeko (10/5): Beautiful stay - It was beautiful and we had a great time, the reception lady was very helpful with all quires and overall great experience
- ML (10/5): Everyone was accommodating - The trip was wonderful, actually it was worth it. Everyone was very excited, they wanted to stay even longer than expected, they want us to go back there soon.
- KL (8/5): - Awesome place, but WiFi and dstv is very limited. And no room service. Food was great but maybe some braai areas would make it exceptional.
- Sello (10/5): One of our best weekends - Very beautiful establishment.
- Thalukanyo (6/5): Great Lodge, worst cleaners.Very bosy - Everything was well until the next morning when i had to transfer to another room. The cleaner ladies need some major mentoring on how to conduct themselves decently when talking to guests. All i got was attitude and it felt like i was obstructing them for carrying out their duties. No respect for privacy whatsoever, its like i wasn't given a choice to have any. From my first and second room. Not ever going there again. Not impressed at all.
- Ludwig (10/5): - With animals in the park.
- Bill (2/5): Hotel is run down in the bush. - When I checked in after waiting several minutes, I was given a key, but informed my room was being used for a photo shoot and would be ready soon. A few minutes later I went to the room, when I unlocked the door, a woman jumped out of bed and started shouting at me.... I showed her my key and went back to reception. By then it seems the ‘good rooms’ were taken and I was sent to the back side of the property where instead of the double bed there were two SMALL twin beds. The room was very plain and rustic. Disappointing!
- Kelebogile (10/5): great place - The stay was great so was the service...
- Mr K (2/5): Abysmal!! - For £45.00 per night, in South Africa, this hotel was abysmal. Lacks the basics from room cleanliness, hygiene, shower facility in the room, and most importantly customer service.
I was told by reception staff (a man called “Innocent” - the irony!) to “sleep on it” (what he meant was “get over it”) when I complained about pillows being dirty and not having a shower facility in the bathroom. Shocking customer service/ experience - lacked initiative to resolve issue himself resulting in a complaing being made to senior management. Although the room was eventually changed, it also lacked (as stated above) except it had a shower.
Terrible.
I’d your after the basics for a comfortable nights kip before an early morning flight, this is not the place.
- NOEL (4/5): A bit disappointed - The room 16 was smelly and old tv. We manage to change to room 116 was better but also old tv. We book a standard room with digi channels. The breakfast was over priced, we don't come again.. very poor internet signal
- John (4/5): - The lodge has denied us breakfast as we were there for the Kaapshoop Marathon
- Ilídio (10/5): - My stay it was amazing...
- Andre (2/5): Bad experience - Very bad experience. Only one TV channel which is clear. Not even enough hot water for one person to shower. You charged me R120 per person for breakfast and the actual price is R95.Booked out after one night. Still waiting for a refund!!
- Ockert (6/5): - Very nice place in overall but not much to do like activities and will like to see self catering inside rooms like microwave ovens and stoves but it's a very nice place and food up to standard
- Riaan (6/5): A disappointment - Reception kept contacting to inform me that I have not paid even though I confirmed proof of payment with them three times; on the day of check-in was the same issue. The bathroom looks a bit run down and there was so little water pressure from the shower, the water was basically dripping. No soap or washcloth holders in the shower.
- Carmen (4/5): - My Tv in my room only had one channel. Asked to get it fixed and they didn't. only put new batteries in remote. No hot water and the shower head was in such bad condition.
- Norman (8/5): Bundu lodge place to be - They just need to upgrade the TV
- Isaac (6/5): - They allocated us room with two single beds instant of room with double bed. The changed us to another room of which the picture of TV was not clear. The speed hump on access road was too high for my car. It was scratching the car underneath.
- Pretty (10/5): - great and affordable
- Jimmy (4/5): clean and a water proof rooms, speed point machine - My self and my wife had a funeral to attend on Saturday at 6h00 in the morning at the area called Game, We then decided to leave JHB on Friday to have accommodation near, On my arrival just after 10 on Friday night the security didn't have speed point to pay, our room had 2 single bed on it , my self and the Security had to move the beds close together to accommodate my self and my wife, When moving the bed we realized that underneath was not cleaned properly, It was raining that night and in the morning there was water and debris on the floor, lucky we have put our language on the chair and pillows was wet on the floors.
I had to check out after 6 because the reception open at 6 therefore I couldn't pay with a card before then that caused us to arrive late at the funeral.
It was a very frustrating situation all together
- Deborah (6/5): Disappointed- Bundu Lodge - In need of a good renovation. Looking very tired and old fashioned. A beautiful piece of land....so much could be done to make it a top class spot.
- Kaboeng (6/5): Linen in the first room allocated was dirty. - It seems reception was not ready for us. Had to change rooms twice.
- Solly (10/5): - Was absolutely amazing
- LERATO (8/5): beautiful place - it was an amazing venue for our holiday. friendly staff, awesome breakfast spread great place all around.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The roof was leaking on the first night and I advised housekeeping nothing was done. Thank goodness it was not raining the second and third night. Other than that everything else was ok
- Vusimuzi (8/5): - Great stay with family, staff very friendly
- tharollo (8/5): - Great place but very limiting to the extend that we not allowed to braai in the area. If I did not choose to eat from your restaurant I must be allowed to prepare my food otherwise considering the fact that shops around close before time. Braai area needs to be available to make things simple and to accommodate those who do not prefer certain types of food. My bed was not comfortable at all and the sad part of it all as someone who booked the place, I was given a small room compared to the other couple I brought along which is something I really do not understand. You must explain the condition of the rooms before handing the key to a customer or show us the rooms that we can choose from so we know its a choice we've made based on what we saw. Me as a man some of the stuff I can take but women can notice many things which can cause conflicts somehow.
- Buhle (6/5): ADD AIR CONS. PLEASE - I got to say, a Standard Room does not have Air Conditioners only found out when I arrived.... and honestly speaking it is not supposed to be "an extra" but an ESSENTIAL, for the location (NST/White River) is very hot.
- EN (10/5): Fantastic - Great place, great vibe, great reception, great service
- Danie (8/5): Mostly satisfied - Like indicated above we were mostly satisfied and even impressed. Great view. The location is just great. Relaxing atmosphere. Clean and spacious rooms. Adequate and close by parking. Friendly staff.
Sadly the following need attention:
Two sets of towels for 5 people is inadequate (we did phone in advance to confirm)
The free breakfast should be removed from the confirmation emails (a cup of coffee or tea is not a free breakfast, the amount provided were also inadequate for 5 people for evening and morning use)
- Jose Enrique (6/5): Not the best stay - Feces (from a bird or so)from the roof fell on my wife's while she was sleeping
- Charles (6/5): - I had booked a family room as I was with children, we were given one of the very old rooms, I would suggest something be done about those rooms they are no longer fit to house guests, very uncomfortable and they just kill the holiday spirit. I had to change and Pay up for an upgrade to the New rooms, which are quite nice.
- Francisco (2/5): Terrible hotel, tremendously noisy. - Terrible hotel. Tremendously noisy. They manage different parties in their hotel, in front of rooms. No proper infrastructure to do it and no time to finish. 05:00 am people were still singing.
I went to this hotel to relax and I am back to work more stressed.
Their stuff is not friendly, no compliments even in the check in.
- Gerhard (10/5): - Very enjoyable
- faizal (8/5): - Great
- Pieter (8/5): One night stay over at Bundu - Great Time - We had a excellent stay with great food and accommodation.
- rose (10/5): Breathtaking Experience. - Bhundu Lodge came as a life saver after a bad night with some unscrupulous Lodge. We moved to Bhundu Lodge and not only felt safe; but also slept like babies in a clean comfortable bed. From now on my family and I decided we will always book with Bhundu Lodge.
- KRISH (8/5): - Good
- Marianne (6/5): Mixed memories - My partner and I stayed for 2 nights while I attended a conference. We could cope with a room with twin beds, but the beds are very narrow, not full 90cm single beds.
We were also disappointed that the rather pricey room rate does not include breakfast.
Having difficulty climbing stairs, I had requested a room with no climbing. In the event the access to the room was via 3 steep stairs on rather uneven terrain - a nightmare of balancing, with no handrails to assist.
The surroundings are a delight - many animals and birds wander around.
The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. The food is tasty, and the service in the restaurant friendly and efficient.
I was, however, rather puzzled by the lovely toilet facilities offered for the disabled on the first floor conference venue - but no way of getting to that venue in a wheelchair! You simply have to climb the stairs, or crawl up, or be carried up. On the ground floor the toilet facilities were not nearly of the same standard, and the floor was wet and looked messy.
So: the stay left very mixed feelings. Will we be back? We'll have to weigh the positives against the negatives, and I am not sure which will win. But for able-bodied, younger people with not many requirements it is probably ideal.
