Guest Reviews
- Mauricio (8/5): -
- Zachary (2/5): - Dirty, cheap, rundown and smelly with thread bare towels and beds with blankets and no sheets. But you get what you pay for. When I checked in the man at the desk practically choked his cute puppy dragged them to the back room roughly when they were just being a sweet puppy. Hate to see how he treats puppy in private.
- judy (6/5): - Older property.. Water pressure low.. Friendly staff..needs house keeping help
- Elizabeth (2/5): - No one answered the door when I arrived to a non refundable booking!
- Joshua (2/5): - This was literally the worst property we've ever stayed at. It was dirty, noisy, there was a huge gap in the windows as the windows had bowed and not been fixed. The carpets were discusting, the bathroom shower was gross. I would NOT stay here again.
- John (3/5): Poor - Cleanliness
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - It was a cheep room in every way. You get what you pay for. It wasn’t clean or in good working order. To top it all off we came back from an early morning exploring trip only to find the maid was in stripping the room with all our stuff still in the room and it wasn’t check out time nor had we checked out. She stated she stripped the bed but the same sheets we slept on were still on the bed. I know this because of a black mark made by my shoe when we first arrived
- Wade (4/5): I wouldn’t go again - Not much, the people working there were decent TVs service was terrible, rooms totally outdated , my first room heater wouldn’t work, second room tv wouldn’t work
- John (2/5): - Garage hotel, 2 a.m fights in the parking lot, more then once, drug addict hotel, stayed 7 days room was not cleaned once
- Gerald (1/5): Room was so gross we walked out immediately and stayed somewhere else. Check room before you pay. - location was fine. Room was disgusting and gross, Was not clean. Towels were stained. Shower was not clean
They had a handwritten sign in office " absolutely no refunds after checking in"
- J6674WMgeraldc (2/5): Nastiest motel I have ever seen. - This is absolutely the most disgusting hotel/motel I have ever stayed at. Make sure you look at room first before you pay. They will not refund once you pay for the room. Problems I had, Room smelled the carpet was so brown from dirt (originally blue) Even though it was a non-smoking room there were cigarette burns every. The towels in the bathroom were stained the shower does not get cleaned regularly as the old nasty soap and washcloth were sitll in shower. The toilet paper roll look as it had gotten wet. The curtain was a old stinky blanket nailed to the wall. The base boards were coming away from the wall in many places. The pillows were also heavily stained. We walked into the room and in 2 minutes left. We could not get refunded. We dropped key off after we went to a clean motel for our stay.
Please look at room before you pay. I have not been the gagged out in years.
- Matthew (3/5): Survivable if needed yet not worth the cost - Never new there was a breakfast, if the was, was never informed The room was half piece put together with curtains and rod that didn’t span and was nailed a point just to hold it up, curtain in bathroom window didn’t even cover the window span in which anyone could walk in the alley behind and peer in. Covers on the bed were torn in multiple places, no air freshener was used to cover or eliminate odors from prior or poorly kept rooms, tv remote control didn’t work or needed batteries. Bathroom had some makeshift valve that was attached acting as a shower head neck, sink was corroded and faucet was not installed properly and or was not associated with the sink that was installed
- Heather (4/5): Disappointing -
- Walter (7/5): Good -
- Rick (6/5): Pleasant - Price
- Timothy (8/5): - Not bad for age of the place and the price
- Kurt (2/5): - I couldn’t take a shower because of the mold and filthy conditions of my room
- Ralph (2/5): - One of the worst places I have ever stayed
- Kris (4/5): - A omplete dump. Window screens fall off to/from outside, windows too much play to stay up and dont like. Window a/c sucks -- itw 53 deg outsude, 2 windows open and upper 70s inside. Room location in a maintenance corner so no air enters window. Batheoom shower has half door, no curtain, looks so dirty I wore water shoes to shower; floor so dirty I now have a brown towel, bath towels dirty or stained. But the refrigerator works well!
- jasminet699 (2/5): HORRIBLE! - Terrible place! Don't stay here! We made reservations for our guys while they were out racing. Went to check in and no reservation. Paid & everything. Super ghetto. Don't go!! Not professional at all. They were wearing unbuttoned Hawaiian shirts and smoking cigarettes in the office. Just a bad place.
- Brandon (1/5): Unacceptable - Absolutely nothing. I was given keys for rooms that were already occupied. The worker would not return to the office to fix. I can’t get a hold of the property for a refund. When I opened the room the smell was terrible.
- Yitshak-tsahi (2/5): Very poor - The stuff is welcoming. Not clean, not comfortable, Toilets didn't have toilet paper.
- TAkeshi (4/5): - You get what you paid for.
I will not return this motel.
- Johnnybonanz (2/5): Very poor - The place looks like it should be condemned... The bed had not been made up. Looks like the covers were just pulled up. There were plug ins that looked like a fire hazard. The fridge was not cleaned out from previous occupants. The Air conditioner unit looks original to the building and did not work...
The Bathroom tile, soap dish and shower drain looked disgusting and the glass shelf had not been cleaned.
We had to ask the manager to have the cleaner to return to the room as the toilet looked like a poo explosion...
No photos of that one...
- Scott (10/5): - It was super close to downtown. And close to get.back on the road again..
- Brian (6/5): - Clean, friendly.
- Lorrell (4/5): - The manager was very friendly. However the rooms in desperate need of repair
- Teresa (3/5): this property should not be on booking.com - staff every thing else.
- Christine (1/5): Bad -
- ROBERT (2/5): Don't stay there - several light bulbs out, half of lamps not working. The guy doesn't care about his property
- Mary (8/5): Nice people, convenient location, but run down - For the low price, it was reasonable. The property is run down: there is broken tile in the shower, and chipped paint. But the bed was comfortable, and it served my purposes just fine.
- Stacey (4/5): Just NOPE - We should have known it was bad when at the front desk they showed us a sign that said you have 15 minutes from the moment you get your keys to get your money back. I figured how bad could it be? We had looked for hotels that let you have 3 dogs in Ely and this is the only one we found. Next time we will look harder for sure.
The room was very very dirty, the pillows were just caked in oil and dirt. I did look for bed bugs and did not see any signs. But we were still so creeped out we kept feeling imaginary bug.
Also there are lots of small children living there and every time you walk in or out of your room they say “I want money”
- Dawn (1/5): Bad -
- Isaac (2/5): - They weren’t there for my check in and I couldn’t stay and had to figure out something else after midnight
- Brandon (1/5): Bad -
- Wayne (2/5): - So unsafe from gas fumes and filth that we didn't stay there!!! Still waiting for our payment to bevreversed
- Simon (2/5): Needs serious attention; repairs and cleaning. - The location in downtown Ely was great - this is the old section of town and there is obviously a lot of history there. I should have read the reviews.
This place is in very poor repair (things broken), and it’s not clean.
First room had water (show head was leaking) and hairs on the bathroom floor, shower pan tiles were broken (no way to clean it). The sheets were not clean — obvious stains of some kind and when I flipped the sheets further back — a bug of some kind…
The second room was better, but the AC filter was clogged, the bathroom vanity was covered in dead bugs and the toilet space was too small to sit… As other reviewers have said the linens were gray.
I was tired and needed to lay down otherwise I would have moved to another hotel — even though they state once paid it is non-refundable.
- Neil (2/5): - This is an old and poorly maintained motel. The room was dingy and very worn out. Furniture was thrift store quality and not a single chair in the room. The carpet had not been vacuumed and had stains and debris on it. Towels did not look clean. We took one look and went elsewhere, even though we had already paid.
- Jenica (1/5): Choose somewhere else. - Did have hot water. Cleanliness was abysmal, we almost slept in the car instead. We changed hotels for our second night in the area.
Towels were old, dirty, mismatched.
Curtains crooked and not closing. Carpet very dirty.
Baseboard heating. Tiny bathroom, heater might burn you as you use the toilet. Bathroom dirty.
One light in main room
Beds old, creaky, small for 4 people.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Judy (1/5): It was substandard all around. - Ok location . Relatively quiet It was old the beds were not really made and the rooms in bad need of repair and update.
- Richard (1/5): Bad -
- Brian (1/5): The place is a dump my dog has a cleaner dog house -
- Nancy (8/5): - Very unique rooms. Very friendly staff.
- Brian (1/5): Stayed there 11 nights they never once cleaned my room or gave me clean sheets or towels -
- Jeff (1/5): Bad - Price was right Very outdated. Rooms smell like they look.
- Valerie (9/5): Church h convention - Convenience of location.
Very friendly people. The person next to us didn't turn off his alarm.
Some people that stay there don't remember that not everyone gets up when they do.need more parking.
Need to make the doorways not so high for older people.
- Anthony (1/5): You don't hate yourself enough to deal with this place. - Absolutely nothing Smelled horrible. Looked like someone got murdered in the room. There were hot electrical wires and outlets laying on carpet which is a huge safety hazard. The shower head would not attach to the pipe. There was no toilet paper. Refrigerator and microwave were inoperable.
- Gwen (2/5): Very poor - The manager and the other staff are nice and friendly The room was awful .. smelly ..filthy ..
- Jeffrey (1/5): Worth about 20.00 a night, in the condition of the room. - Shower in bad condition, tile loose, missing, and mold.
- Leo (2/5): - This was not what was pictured on their website.
It was a filthy dump. Rusty tub, one towel to share if we were to shower. Dirty floors. Lights on wall and bedstead did not work. Thriftstore type junk piled near door entrance. This place makes motel 6 look like the trump tower
- Brian (1/5): Gross - Filthy nasty. Do not stay here. Prison cells are cleaner
- Ellen (5/5): Passable -
- Hrv (3/5): Poor - Arrived here by accident everything else was fully booked The heater was on and could not be swtched off. Outside we had high seventies. Airco did not work.
Place was last updated around 1970.
- William (5/5): Convenient motel to stay 1 or 2 nights. Good value weekend rates. Amenities need improvement. - Centrally located to the convention center and restaurants. Inexpensive compared to other motels. Room was available at the last minute. Refrigerator worked well. Satellite television did not work and could not be repaired. Room air conditioning system was below average. Room key was unavailable at check in.
- Del (2/5): I survived the night - Norman Bates Hotel Norman Bates Hotel
- Christeen (5/5): Passable -
- Denise (7/5): Good -
- Michael (1/5): Worst place I've ever stayed - Easy to book Room was filthy, no hot water in shower. had coat closet but no hangars. AC was too loud to allow sleep. People coming and going all night long, didn't feel safe parking here. This place meets no one's personal standards!
- Miranda (1/5): Confirmed room given away - Nothing There was no parking and they gave away my confirmed room. I didn’t stay there.
- Shawn (5/5): You get what you paid for - Cheap if you only need to rest a night Had a reservation, but was told room was not ready, much less available and were scrambling to see if there was one. What's the point of doing a reservation.
- Joe (6/5): Good place to get out of inclement weather. - TV didn’t work
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jonathan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tim (3/5): Poor -
- Gale (1/5): uncomfortable -
- Raymond (1/5): Bad stop at the White Pine Motel - We had reservations for a room on the Ground floor handicap. He first tried to give me a room that someone was already in I said no way . Then he said then there is up steers and I said that will not work . I think they gave our to someone else why else would he want to move them out of there room and move us in. And to top that off it was a dump . He was yelling in to the other room to a lady and kids about something she came out and looked at the reservations and left so I walked out and will not go back. Not a thing.
- Ballou (8/5): Very good - Manager very responsive and nice. A bit dated but ok
- Hope (3/5): Poor -
- Hilton (8/5): Great price and met my expectations. - This hotel was perfect for what I needed. I wanted a place to rest, do some work on the computer and get a good night rest. The AC worked well. The staff was really nice and the price was the best in town. I will come again. Thanks folks. There are nicer properties but most were double the cost and a few triple. This hotel hit my expectations perfectly.
- Ly (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sylvia (7/5): Surpassed our expectation. - Remodeled, we were surprised, staff welcoming, good value for your money.
- Robert (4/5): Disappointing -
- Mcgee (1/5): Bad -
- Emma (1/5): The room was gross and I will not stay again nor recommend to another human. - I booked this hotel becsaue it was the cheapest I could find. I liked that it was cheap because it ended up being a waste of money as the acomodations were unacceptable. There were dead bugs all over the bathroom floor and in the towels. There was trash under the sheets of the bed (bottle caps and q-tips if you are curious) and live bugs crawled out of the sheets. I did not sleep in the beds.
- Greg (7/5): Good -
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (3/5): Could have been way better - No breakfast Not sure what was on top of the mattress maybe a plastic liner but you sweat all
Night.
There were see through curtains that didn't cover the windows so yiu were open to everybodies view
Some dude was going through the trucks
- Thinh (7/5): Prefer not - Old but good enough. Tedious about the door chain, floor carpet.
- Jacobs (10/5): Exceptional - V we y accommodating
- Eleanor (7/5): Good -
- Robert (7/5): Good -
- Patrick (2/5): never again! I met the new management and they are not hoteliers... - One of the worst stays in a motel ever, and I've stayed in a lot of them. I have very thick skin when it comes to traveling alone on long road trips and my tolerance level is high. I'm willing to save a few bucks and I don't mind an older place as long as it's clean. This place needs serious cash to improve everything or it should be torn down completely. dirty, filthy, frig didn't work, bathroom was terrible, toilet wouldn't flush... the list is long.
- Ana (9/5): Very welcoming motel - We liked everything, the staff was super nice, very welcoming, it was very clean, comfy, quiet, we had all what we needed and all the staff was very helpful and made our 2 nights stay very pleasent, we didn t like to leave. Thanks to everybody :) We re on a very tight budget 3 months roadtrip, so the price was 20% higher than we can usually afford, but anyway we are happy to have chosen this motel.
- Vicki (7/5): Good - The room was clean, the water was hot, and the mattress was comfortable. The one thing I didn't like was the lack of a substantial window covering in the bathroom. It was really creepy, especially at night.
- Ian (1/5): steer clear of this place. it might be under new management but it hasn’t had any work done to it in decades and the new - this place is flat out disgusting. places like this are the reason I’m so apprehensive to use the booking.com app. with no refunds available on arrival, you are forced to stay in dilapidated run down, unkept motels that literally should be condemned.
- Manuel (1/5): Awful!! Strong smell of cigarettes, really dirty, really bad. I'm sorry to say this about the motel - No breakfast offered Dirty carpet, smoke smell, ceiling falling etc!! It was really bad bad!!
- Laura (1/5): Staff tried to be helpful, but the place is falling down around them. - Location. We didn’t like the smell of cleaning products and sheets and towels smelled like cigarette smoke, even though we were in a no -smoking room.
- Damiano (6/5): not the nicest motel, but ok for one night passing through Ely. - the staff is awesome and they are really trying to make customers feel welcome. gotta give it to the young couple at the front desk starting to manage a new hotel must be hard. continue working on it guys and it’ll get better! facilities are not so nice. building / rooms need some renovation , get new sheets, add soap bars, and make sure you make it as clean as it gets.
- Rick (5/5): Passable - You get what you pay for. If it's a place to lay you head for the night and price is most important this is it.
- Jack (1/5): This place was worse than the cheap places I stayed in India - I liked nothing about it There was no hot water the bed was uncomfortable the door he couldn't unlock it could hardly get in the room it shouldn't be on your list
- 103lukea (10/5): Warm staff and a warm room! - Perfect spot for a mid nevada rest!
I knew when I saw the prices this was a hole in the wall and would be a cheap hotel. I was hoping for no roaches and a soft bed. We booked before even entering the city so had a lot of presumptions coming in. We were greeted by a very kind gentleman who was kind and festive. He promised us a warm bed and was able to grant our request for the 1st floor. We were in a smoking room, which also made my spouse happy. I didn't take any photos, but the room was clean, warm, the bathroom was clean. I read a lot of reviews and can say that you can see some awful ones, and then it shows that the newer owners really take good care of their rooms. It was a wonderful experience. I am very very very very happy we found this hotel and plan to stay again on our return trip.
The rooms had microwaves, fridges, TVs, phones, a dresser, towels, and shampoo. While there was no coffee pot, there are plenty of spots nearby.
For what I expected and what I received, I was very happy! :)
- williamwO7535ZP (10/5): Great Stay - Stayed at this lodge for a week. No issues at all and I will stay at this location again. Great service and awesome location. Very friendly and helpful staff with a 24 hour grocery store that has everything you need to include awesome ice cream.
- Jesmess21 (2/5): Go somewhere else unless you want a free meth pipe - If you like to find nasty meth pipes in your room, this is the place to go! Also, if your hungry, they have complimentary left over food from a restaurant in the microwave. We also had the window completely open in the bathroom so someone deff sneaks in for a place to smoke meth.. do not take kids here. The guy behind the desk also had no care that there was a meth pipe rolled up in a sock in the room. He just gave us another room like it was normal. Luckily my husband and I have no kids and can handle this type of stuff while we’re young lol Only reason we stayed is because we were on a serious budget and desperately need somewhere to sleep ASAP, just so we could get up early and keep driving. Poor husband got no sleep because he felt he needed to keep watch all night for our safety. Hotel room was nasty too!
- 66DavidL66 (2/5): DREADFUL ! ! ! - Unfortunately we booked online in advance. When we checked in late in the day, we were offered the "best" room in the motel which sounded good. The room was actually the only one which had AstroTurf outside which looked promising. Unfortunately inside was awful. It was small and dark like a cave. The bed was too big for the headboard. The carpet was grimy and suspect. The TV only worked on one channel. Electric wiring was draped around the room in a dangerous way. No coffee maker. No breakfast only insipid coffee available in the office. Not a cheap motel either
- Medmondson78 (2/5): Horrible!!! - My 3 kids and I were driving from Vegas to Portland and got stuck in a snow storm so we had to stop for the night. We stayed at this motel and it was aweful. The carpets were the nastiest so I didnt take my shoes off. We slept on top the covers on our jackets. The outlet had too much on it and it was detaching from the wall. A fire seems is a huge possibility. I was unable to sleep so we left around 5am after getting in after 11pm. This place cost $65 per room. I would not have paid 20 if I wasn't desperate. Wish I had slept in my vehicle. Do not waste your money.
- heelerhaven (2/5): DONT STAY HERE!!!! - After driving 12 hours we found this place and In not sure WHY TripAdvisor even advertises this place!
This place is beyond gross! The SHAG carpet was stained black. I made the HUGE mistake of taking my shoes off! The carpet was greasy...Ugh!!
The bedding was filthy. Literally nothing on the bed was the same color. There were stains on the blankets( fresh)
There was so much stuff plugged into the sockets a fire is inevitable.
I'm an adventurer, and I'm all for the independent little motels, but I could NOT bring myself to even try this.
This after dragging my poor 75 yr old mother in there. She said HELL NO.
So we repacked the car, went in and demanded a refund. I didn't do the checking in, my fiancé did and I saw a sign that said "NO REFUNDS AFTER CHECK IN!" To be fair, the man DID give me a refund.
I wish I had taken pictures of this place. We did find a beautiful CLEAN room at the La Quinta.
We all felt dirty after being in that room for 10 minutes.
- PaulaA439 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE! - This place is absolutely filthy and the raise hotel I have ever seen. The carpet looked like someone changed the oil on the car. I have never seen anything so bad. The towels were so rough and looked like rags used for washing your car. I can’t believe Trip Advisor would even feature this dump!!!
- 259rainyd (2/5): Horrible place - The manager couldn't find my reservation, even when I showed him the print-out of my confirmation. The first room he stuck us in was NOT what I'd booked, nor paid for. He tacked on an additional $15 to move us to where we should have been in the first place. The rooms were DIRTY. I wouldn't even shower there because the shower was nasty. It was HOT in the room, had to stand on a rickety chair to reach the cooler to turn it on. Never did cool the room. The refrigerator was filthy. The microwave was on the floor. Wi-Fi wouldn't work. Then they have the audacity to say I never showed up for my booking. Phew! I hope to NEVER go to Ely again, much-less that filthy dump!
- michaelbQ2756VF (2/5): Avoid !!! - Dirty carpet, towels looked dirty after you shower, the shower rug looked dirty fresh from their laundry, Top of shower stall NOT cleaned, walls of bathroom and room in disrepair. You take a Hot shower but be quick. Lumpy mattresses. No coffee maker in room you had to go to the office and pour from his pot which was always empty.
