Guest Reviews
- Glenn (1/5): Awful they cancelled night before. I had to ring US to try and find alternative none close to metro. Awful service. They - They cancelled the night before They cancelled night before
- Ronald (7/5): - what breakfast? location was perfect. the room was very dated
- Carolina (8/5): Good stay at an excellent location - The bedroom was really good and the location was excellent I was surprised that they only required the id of the person who did the reservation and not to the other’s guests. Also, the staff weren’t so clear to explain offers to the clients
- Melvin (10/5): -
- Ke (10/5): - Awesome staff. Helpful and respectful. The room is luxurious too. 20/night parking but that's pretty normal for this area. Pretty good garage with direct elevator access. Overall a great experience. They'll try to ease you into a session for their timeshare program.
- José (9/5): Superb -
- brooksp126 (6/5): Handicapped caution - 2 issues:
Coffee service in the lobby is apparently only for business travelers. For those on vacation who have relaxed morning start it’s usually closed.
Elevator to the parking 2-3 floors below has been closed for repairs for over a year and there is no alternative to taking the stairs. (Handicapped beware)
Other than the maintenance issues it’s a fun gateway to the region via metro where the elevators work.
- CMODJG (10/5): Wonderful stay at Club Wyndham - We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath with our son, daughter-in-law and grandbaby. The unit is large and very well stocked with everything you need. The front desk staff could not have been kinder. This is our second stay at this property. We highly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.
- Badge958 (8/5): Nice place. Flaky WiFi. - Great hotel. Nice people. Very clean and well maintained. Only had a couple of problems:
1. Garage elevator was down and is being worked on. They expected to it be repaired by December. The workaround requires going up and down some stairs.
2. The Wi-Fi would not work with our iPhones. When I called support there was a hard to understand message saying the iPhone settings needed to be changed. Failing that, I talked to support and they tried to help me, but no luck. Fortunately, I had an iPad and an old laptop that works great using the Wi-Fi. Otherwise, I would’ve been pissed.
- Glenn (8/5): Started rocky and ended favorable - We were in a handicapped room (did not request), when asked if we could be moved they did so and upgraded us Put in a handicapped very small room, we were a party of two only set of towels for one Amtrak and metro outside room, very disturbing
- B5684KSja (2/5): Reservation not guaranteed - Do not use Live Suites, TRPJoseph or VRBO to book this property. We were specifically told that our reservation was guaranteed and would not be canceled for any reason. This proved to be untrue. Live Suites canceled our reservation 10 weeks prior to our trip. We then booked a different unit with TRPJoseph. TRP Joseph cancelled our reservation 3 days prior to our stay. Both management companies told VRBO that we had actually canceled the reservation.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Norbett (8/5): - Overall the property is nice however there are some signs of age. The elevator to the parking garage was out of order during my stay which meant going up and down 2 or 3 floors. Not a big deal, but a small inconvenience. Also while my room was clean, it was musty. It smelled like there has been a lot of cooking in the kitchen and the kitchen odors have gotten into the furniture and carpet. It needs freshening up. Otherwise it was perfect.
- DestinationDiaries4U (8/5): Great Place to Stay! - We stayed on the first floor and was slightly nervous about that but ultimately it was just fine. The rooms are large and the family room and furniture was comfortable. There is a renovation starting soon and the cabinetry , carpeting and other items will be updated which will be a welcomed change. It's time. The air filter in the HVAC unit was changed recently when checked and water pressure is excellent. An old school coffee maker was in the kitchen, maybe a newer one is needed but appreciate that it's available. Toaster works well. Was pleased with towels and quality of soaps. Elevator was down which was a slight nuisance. Garage was tight. Just need a reno and all will be perfect. Thanks Club Wyndham!!
- Kristin (8/5): Great location and good to have 2 rooms - Close to old town - at the top of King St. Close to Metro. Was clean. Staff nice. Since not a member tried to get me to go to a Wyndham promo talk. I declined and that was all. No more pressure. The unit was very clean. However the furniture had a few dings and bathroom tile looked a bit old.
- M4932OUvictoriaj (2/5): Terrible service for a company that borderline harasses you to buy more time. - Okay now I understand why the such low star rating. I won't go back. The rooms are okay, but outdated and not very suite we stayed in had inoperable outlets, outdated furniture that should've been thrown out a long time ago. They constantly contact you about sales offers to purchase more time and yet if you as I for simple things like creamer for your coffee or a later checkout time, we were either lied to and told it would be done or not at all. I accidentally overslept and awoke at 10 am which is the checkout time. I was stressed due to being notified just 10 hours later arlier that one of my relatives who had just been hospitalized a few days ago and another relative I had come to visit only had days to live. I immediately called the front desk to ask for an hour and was old no. They called the room 3 times and my cell phone once while I was trying to get dressed tears flowing down my face. Then 2 managers came knocking at the door to tell me I had 30 minutes to get out. I much rather prefer the location at National Harbor or sell the Timeshare and buy a home there because it was ridiculous.
- Arakna1234 (6/5): Hotel - Our stay at the Wyndham Resort in Alexandria was a mixed experience. While the room was acceptable, clean, and pleasant, the continuous sounds from the trains and metro were rather distracting. If the rooms are insulated for sound, then I'd be truly concerned if they weren't. Assuming they are insulated, the noise level is quite distracting.
There isn't much to make this "resort" stand out. It's really just a nice hotel in Alexandria. It is conveniently located for walking or riding the tram and, as alluded to earlier, very near the metro/train station.
My biggest negative, which applies to all Wyndham resorts we've stayed at, is the high-pressure tactics employed to try and get you to attend the "tour" to encourage you to buy into the timeshares. We agreed to attend a 30-minute session provided we were allowed a late checkout, only to find out the "late checkout" was 11 am (the same time as the "tour"). When asked if we could extend that checkout time, we were eventually allowed until 11:30, but that didn't help us at all because the tour was scheduled to go beyond 11:30 anyway. We still had to be packed and out before 11 to attend the "tour." And you can't skip the tour because you're charged a refundable reservation fee of $40, only refundable if you attend the event.
Generally speaking, I'd say this "resort" is nothing more than a conveniently located hotel.
- louboone (10/5): Club Wyndham Old Town - The location is so convenient! The rooms are very large and extremely clean. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need for cooking and eating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice laundry located on every floor. You are right at Amtrak, Metro, free Trolley, and Dash stops! Metro takes you to MGM so no use for a car. No hotel restaurant but plenty within walking distance and local shopping were great. Lamar at the from desk was amazing.
- Mark (10/5): Great location to explore Alexandria and the greater DC area. - Location We liked everything
- 1Travelerfrom (2/5): Beware - My daughter booked a two-bedroom unit in December 2023 through Southwest Airlines, who uses Booking.com for their reservations. Today , May 23,as we are 4+ hours into our 7 hour drive to Maryland she gets an email , 24 hours before check in saying “ we’re sorry, your reservation has been cancelled due to overbooking” She received a phone call from them last week confirming our visit. Friends were traveling here too and same thing happened to them. Booking offered regular hotel rooms as compensation. We had a unit with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, full kitchen including oven, fridge, dishwasher, washer, dryer. Not the same accommodations, and definitely more expensive than original reservation. We brought food to cook in the room, which we can’t do in a normal hotel room. Sad to say I think the government has to step in and fix this just like they went after the airlines.
Beware if you book any hotels through Southwest Airlines or booking.com
- Christina (8/5): - The property is conveniently located near the metro and the free trolly that runs un and down the street. It is very close to the trail though, so that might bother some people, if you're not used to loud noises. Club Wyndham does have timeshares/ownership programs, so they will try and convince you to buy into those programs.
- Hervé (9/5): Excellent stay. - Large room in a comfortable apartment. Excellent quality/price ratio. At walking distance from downtown. Close to the metro railway, hence some noise disturbance. Not too uncomfortable though as there are very few metro trains at night.
- Gwendolyn (1/5): Paid in advance and was canceled upon arrival with no help to go elsewhere. - Great online I never saw the property. Booked 3 months in advance and was canceled when I landed. Had a party of 5.. . Three were disabled.
- Piper (10/5): Immaculately clean, comfortable and roomy! - It was a perfect location with easy in and out parking garage next to hotel. The room exceeded our expectations actually being larger than our son’s apartment!
- Frugalmama57 (10/5): All around excellent!! - This is a great place to stay to visit Old Town Alexandria. So close to everything! We really appreciated out concierge Craig. The room needed a little TLC but nothing major. We had a fire drill while there due to a burnt hamburger and the building emptied in no time flat! There is a wonderful patio outside the front door. Free trolley and bus service - no need for a car if flying. Plenty of wonderful restaurants on King Street. Metro into DC is right across the street. Took the water taxi to DC Wharf. Definitely recommend!!!
- Vincent James (10/5): - Staff was very helpful. Llamat at front desk was courteous and gave me great advice on where to eat and directions to the conference I was attending in town.
- 9967bobj (10/5): Caring staff at Old Town Alexandria - My family has stayed with Wyndham Old Town Alexandria many times over the past several years. Its welcoming presence and convenience bring us back. Iespecially commend its staff for caring and immediate response to any request.
- Assaf (9/5): Superb - Location, room, facilities - really good. The shower had a really low pressure
- W. (8/5): What I expected-will recommend! - Best combo of price/location w DC access for our weekend (late Jan ‘24). King St Metro EZ walk for all ages (500 yds). Restaurants/Bars walk as well. Fitness Center good compared to most Hotels. Parking $20/day for non-members-GREAT value in DC. if you are sound averse, many rooms hear Metro trains 5 am-1 am daily; TINY towels in fitness center (don’t bother if not at least hand towel size).
- Kotmair (7/5): Nice place, but hope you love trains - Loved the street it was on, many many shops and attractions easily walked to. Right next to the metro, 2 shuttle lines, 2 Amtrack going from early to late. Not far outside bedroom window.
- B9398QBmollyd (6/5): Nice hotel on King St - Nice hotel that is centrally located to several attractions, restaurants, etc. The train didn’t bother us at night, and it was nice to be so close to it when we needed to use it. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. I would suggest not signing up for a timeshare tour if you don’t think you can make it. We ended up getting charged for canceling the tour prior to the tour date, even though we were told we wouldn’t be charged any money. We called several times to try to remedy the situation with no result, this is a little disappointing. Other than that we enjoy our stay.
- Roman (8/5): Nice, good location, but beware of time share presentations - Room was clean, bed, pillows, comforter were comfortable. Didn't need the full-size fridge on this trip, but nice to have access to one and the kitchen Somehow got a handicapped room, so the hangers in the closet were very low to the floor and to the safe, and the shower not really comfortable for a non-handycapped person. I wish I didn't feel forced to sit through the time share presentation, that's really not for me
- Niall (8/5): Very good - The Gym was good. The facilities in the apartment also v good. Very close to there Metro
- Lois (10/5): Great place to stay with easy access to DC on Metro - Great location next to the King Street Metro Station and within walking distance of Whole Foods Market and restaurants on King Street. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
We had stayed at Club Wyndham Old Town 13 years ago and noticed this time that many upgrades had been made in the lobby and unit to give it a cleaner and more modern look. X
- Graham (10/5): - This was brilliant. The room had a separate dining and living area so you could even eat in if you wanted. It was brilliantly located for everything Alexandria had to offer, and near a metro station if you wanted to go to Washington. Parking was simple.
- Kimberly (9/5): Superb -
- Time_Lady (8/5): Good stay at Wyndham Old Town Alexandria - Nice that the parking is free but a little bit confusing to drive to. But it is easy to get to hotel from parking garage. We arrived late and it was nice that Geron called to make sure that we were coming. We had a one bedroom condo. Bedding was comfy. Kitchen had everything we needed and included a new stove. There wasn't much of a view. We didn't take a tour or go to a presentation. The sound of the train didn't bother us. It is an easy walk from the Wyndham to the King Street Metro, free King Street trolley, or DASH bus.
- Monica (10/5): Excellent location everythingin walkingdistance. , very nice hotel and staff -
- curmudgenfred (8/5): Alexandria, Mt. Vernon, Washington D.C. this n a week - Tucked side by side with the Hilton, main entrance off the street. Ending out points for Wyndham’s Discovery trials. Good access, great concierge duo with Tana and Craig. Handy to the Metro - a must! Don’t bring your own car or rent one if you can help it. Metro, cabs, yes and walking fill the bill.
- 383gavinf (10/5): Great Experience - Great hotel with suites that included a full kitchen, jacuzzi, separate space for dining, relaxing, and sleeping. Parking on site and free. Location is within easy walking to the metro station and free King Street shuttle picks up and stop literally right in front of the complex
- Gavin (10/5): Excellent Stay and I would return - Great hotel with suites that included a full kitchen, jacuzzi, separate space for dining, relaxing, and sleeping. Parking on site and free. Location is within easy walking to the metro station and free King Street shuttle picks up and stop literally right in front of the complex Wyndham Club tried to upsell you on club vacation packages and literally forces you to meet with a "guest relations manager" right after checking in. After a long day of travel it feels like a pressure sale but once you say no your good to go
- Jorge (10/5): - The hotel is very clean, very well maintained, very well located and the attention is very good.
- P1062NFedh (8/5): Great trip to Washington DC - We enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were very nice and clean. The only complaint my husband had was that it was next to the train station and it affected his sleep. He told this to the staff at checkout and she told him if we came back to request a room farthest away from the station. I liked being near the station because we used it often to visit Washington DC. We stayed there seven days and got to see all the things we wanted to, plus the cherry blossoms in full bloom! We would stay there again!
- Brittany (10/5): It was great - The location was good it was nice and quiet. From the minute we arrived until the time we left everyone was very nice. We didn't have the breakfast so I'm not sure how that was. Our room was perfect. We had a room with a view of the train and it was really nice. I'm not a huge fan of the area and I only stayed in the area because of my daughter's cheer comp but I would come back just for the room and not leave the hotel while there ha.
- Englert (8/5): Very good -
- Ima369 (10/5): Our stay here - It was centrally located to where we wanted to be. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The price was fantastic. The shower didn't have a safety rail or shelf to place your toiletries on other than a soap dish. The TV in the main room is in a bad location as it causes you to turn your head 90⁰ to view it from the sofa
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional value in old town Alexandria right next to the Metro ! - The best place I have ever stayed on Booking.com. I was just looking for a nicely priced room near the metro in Alexandria. What I got, exceed my expectations, I had a kitchen, a dining room with tables and chairs, a living room and a bathroom with a jacuzzi ! Also it was very clean, fast internet and a friendly staff. Exceptional value for the money ! I had to leave
- Matthew (8/5): - Could hear people in rooms on both sides, their TV and if they were talking loud or children yelling/crying.
- Jennifer (8/5): great stay! - spacious, well-equipped rooms N/A
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abdiel (8/5): Very good - Full size kitchen Bathroom sink problems
- Michelle (7/5): Good -
- timothyb986 (10/5): A nice visit to Alexandria - We stopped over for two nights on our way from the Southlands back to Long Island.
The resort has all the comforts you could want while traveling; walk along King street to the harbor, free parking, beautiful property and excellent guest service. The front desk service provided by Lamar H. and Solange G. was over and above what one would expect; they were helpful in multiple ways.
From the harbor you can see the Capital Dome in nearby Washington D.C.
We will be back soon.
- Denys (7/5): Good -
- Cynthia (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - great staff, good facilities with kids nothing
- xyzz111 (10/5): As good as new - The building is in historic Old Town Alexandria. The interior flooring, walls and eveerything are so well kept that they look new. The metrorail station is fifty yards away. We used the metro (less than $7 per person round trip) to go to the Bible Museum, American History Museum and the World War Two Memorial in Washington. I live and work in the DC area. I can tell you the metro is safe, modern and clean. I highly recommend using it to visit Washington. There is also an inexpensive bus to the National Harbor resort or you can take a water ferry.
- Ashley (9/5): Superb - Very reasonable rates. The staff were AMAZING! Lamar stood out as very friendly, accessible ... Perfect staff! We had the ADA suite. The corners of the bathroom could stand to be cleaned a bit more.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Teresa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Lovely location but beware the bathroom. - The location is excellent. Access to Washington DC was simple and what we were looking for. We enjoyed walking King Street with its shops and restaurants. The bathroom. Shower was useless. I am 5'10 and had difficulty getting under the shower head. My husband at 6'4" commented that "showering with one hand is useless". In addition, in order not to flood the bathroom we had to shower in a corner using about 10% of the overall shower space. We would also have appreciated a little counterspace in the bathroom. Lastly, we felt that the air conditioning unit in this suite could not keep up as the unit was always damp and towels never really seemed to dry.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Jimbilly (10/5): Clean, comfortable and a great location - I have stayed here several times in the past and returned for this year's 4th of July weekend. From the moment you check in until check out the staff is there to serve your every need with their friendly, efficient and professional service. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with all the kitchen ware one would need for a great vacation. A free laundry is also located on each floor. The resort is across the street from the Metro Blue/Yellow lines for easy access to the DC attractions. Two stops from Reagan airport. There is also a bus to National Harbor for $2.00. If staying for several days, there is a whole foods store 3 blocks away. The resort on Kings St has a trolly stop at its entrance which will take you down to the many historical buildings and waterfront.
- txstransplant (8/5): Perfect place to stay when touring DC and Northern Va - This is our second time here. We love the location above all. It is literally across the street from the Metro train so access to DC is incredibly easy. Parking was complimentary in a covered garage ( unlike so many other Wyndham resorts! )
The hotel is beautifully decorated and clean in the lobby and common areas. Staff was friendly and our room ready when we arrived at 3.
We had a 2 bedroom condo and it was HUGE. Large bathrooms, clean beds and linens. All kitchen items were clean and plentiful.
The only negative was the slightly tired look of walls and couches/ tables. Could use a bit of paint. I did note fingerprints on the door knobs and mirrors and have reported that ( it’s unusual for Wyndham resorts to have unclean areas in our experience). Since Covid, however, we’ve started taking Clorox wipes with us and doing our own wipe-downs before settling in when we travel.
Will definitely stay here again.
- Beth (10/5): - The location is fantastic for exploring DC and old town. The room was comfortable and clean but could use a little updating. It had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. The common areas were gorgeous and Honestly the staff were amazingly kind and courteous. They really made it a wonderful stay. I felt it was a good value and free parting with in and out privileges was a big plus too. We would stay again in a heartbeat.
- Dawn (10/5): - Perfect place to stay in Oldtown Alexandria. Roomy and comfortable. It is right next to the Metro Station and there is a Trolley that runs up and down the main street (King St). Free parking if you have a car.
- Thomas (8/5): - Too much pressure to “buy into” your concept! We listened but aren’t candidates for what you offer, your plan does not fit into our lifestyle!! Did not think the sales rep was able to understand us at all.
However, Tonya at the front desk was excellent, thoughtful & most helpful.
- Zimri (2/5): - I arrived Friday afternoon around 6pm. I planned a surprise birthday dinner for my husband and as we were getting ready, realized the iron did not work. I called the front desk at 6:45 pm to ask for a new iron and was told “I’ll see if the porter is still here, if not you’ll just have to wait to tomorrow and deal with it”.
We had no choice but to arrive to an upscale restaurant wrinkled because no one was courteous enough to grab an iron from an empty room.
The next morning the shower handle fell off and we had to screw it back in. Then as we were getting dressed noticed the pillow cases were dirty/moldy but the bed had been made with the dirty side down so it was not immediately noticeable. Absolutely disgusting to think we laid our heads and face on these pillows for two nights.
Absolutely unacceptable!!
- Veronica (10/5): - My family and I had an amazing stay with Club Wyndham. The staff was super personable and friendly. Stephen and Monica were great! The parking garage was a nightmare to get out of. Overall, I would highly recommend the hotel to folks and I will certainly be returning for my next staycation!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was very nice and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Diamond (10/5): - It was very nice i enjoyed my stay ❤️
- Kayla (10/5): - Hotel was very nice, quiet and clean. This is definitely going to be our hotel that we stay at every time we come to visit DC.
- Tabitha (10/5): Good time - Great place to stay.
- Monica (10/5): Staying at such a wonderful place. - Amazing stay! Beautiful rooms . Wonderful staff. Will definitely stay again.
- Karen (10/5): - Very clean and in a great location.
- Travis (10/5): Got to stay here - Was just all out amazing
- john (8/5): - sound from other rooms was disturbing. this property was a time share which expedia did not reveal
