• 529rebeccao (10/5): Amazing staff Beautiful location! - The Explorean and their staff are incredible! This is our 4th trip with our two kids (9 and 5 this year) and we absolutely love it. Jassiel, Nestor, Ariel, Edgar, Miguel, Jonny, Alejandra, Jason, Gabriel and all the staff are helpful, so kind to our kids, always wear a smile and make us feel so welcome. The excursions are fun and the staff make it easy and enjoyable for all age and abilities. Our favorite is el cielo boat ride with Jassiel and Nestor! The staff are quick and responsive when we have needed extras like a kids bed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable full of amenities. The breakfast basket left at the front of our door every morning is a perfect way to start our days. We will be returning for sure!!

We saw a shark, lots of sting rays, barracuda, and lots of other tropical fish. The hotel was peaceful and relaxing, food was delicious, and staff were friendly. No hesitation in recommending :)

Quiet, secluded jungle location but close to the beach and entertainment/dining options of the larger Fiesta Americana; lots of great excursion options but also a beautiful pool/open air lobby where you can relax all day; and minimal distracting amenities (TV, etc.) but comfortable, modern rooms. The high point is definitely the people, though. Rubi at the front desk is a true stand-out, the epitome of hospitality. Jassiel, Vega and Armando made the tours seamless and fun, and Claudia, Edwin and Jesus (Lol K'aan), Manuel (Italian restaurant), and Alejandra (buffet) were welcoming and helpful. The boat tour, buggy tour (first 3 hours, anyway), and cenote bike trip were our favourites, and the circus show at Fiesta Americana was surprisingly impressive.

• freeznlow (10/5): Memories to treasure - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Explorean in Cozumel. We were able to take part in the festivities and enjoy all the restaurants at the Fiesta Americana when we wanted but we were always happy to get back to the calm atmosphere of the Explorean. Even our grandchildren (9 and 13) enjoyed the quieter pool at the Explorean especially after tiring themselves out snorkelling which they could do just a short walk from our rooms. They did that several times each day, even the day we were leaving (as we, the grandparents, were fretting that we would miss our shuttle to the airport 😊). The staff was awesome. They were so welcoming and went way out of their way to make our stay special. Special thanks to Rubi! The daily adventures provided by the Explorean were super. The adventure team led by Jassiel was fantastic! The buggy ride around the island and the boat trip that included great snorkelling stand out but the other adventures were so much fun, also. The adventure team made sure of that! We treasure our memories from our trip to The Explorean Cozumel. Thank you to everyone there.

• F5943UQbonnieg (10/5): Even better than we hoped!! - What an amazing vacation! Our time at The Explorean Cozumel was even better than we hoped it would be. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family. Juan Carlos, the concierge, was so friendly and helpful. He checked on us daily, always asking if there was anything we needed. We loved how clean, quiet and secluded it was at The Explorean. The individual units tucked into the jungle and surrounding areas were so well maintained. Again, everyone from maintenance to restaurant staff was so friendly and attentive. The food at Lol K'an was delicious, with many options. We were well cared for by everyone, but especially by Louis, Gabriel, Jesus and Edwin. We ate there except for lunches, which we enjoyed on the beach at The Fish Shack. We never had to wait and had a variety of yummy dishes, with a different "special" each day. Jose greeted us and was patient in explaining what the specials were, even if he wasn't our waiter! Talk about All Inclusive, The Explorean takes it to a new level, including daily excursions at no extra cost. The staff who lead the excursions are excellent. It had been over 20 years since we had snorkeled. Jassiele and Santiago did an amazing job of teaching and working with each of us. I was so impressed by Jassiele, free diving down to point out turtles, stingrays, nurse shark and other marine life that I would have missed because of their camouflage. It was a great preparation for the excursion to El Cielo, with more snorkeling, star fish and the stingrays at the sandbar - Jassiele and Ariel took great care of us. We did The Buggy Tour, with Gerardo Vega and Ariel. Fun time and enjoyed the Tequila tour. Once again, staff was great. The water is crystal clear, turquoise blue and you can snorkel right from the property! Bring beach shoes to protect your feet. Having The Explorean affiliated with The Fiesta Americana, provides "the best of both worlds!" We enjoyed the evening entertainment at The Fiesta Americana. They have a very talented dance/ acrobatic troupe. Shows have different themes. Circus show was really good. Don't miss The Fire Show!! Then we would go back to the peace and quiet of The Explorean. We certainly were pleased with our choice of The Explorean Cozumel All Inclusive for our vacation!
• COcomadre (10/5): A Great All Around Experience and a Great Value for Your Money - We read many reviews before choosing to go to The Explorean Cozumel. What a great decision. The Explorean exceeded our expectations in every way. From our casita nestled in the near jungle setting to the amazing attentive staff we could not have asked for more. Each casita is basically a two story fourplex and each unit has its own private balcony that looks out into the jungle foliage. We had the King bed option and found everything we needed in the unit. Housekeeping was there every day without fail. The short walk from our casita to the lobby, pool and Lol K'an Restaurant was beautiful and always immaculately clean. There were very few times that my wife and I were walking on the path that we did not see one or even numerous staff members working on the grounds and keeping even the leaves swept from the pathway. Even the staff that tended to the grounds greeted us with a smile and a friendly "hola". Talk about service with a smile, the wait staff at the Lol K'an Restaurant were fantastic. Louis, Jesus, Gabriele, and Edwin were standouts in regards to service. It was not unusual for the staff to call you by name and remember if you wanted juice or coffee with your breakfast. Honestly, with the exception of the beach side Fish Shack, we ate all of our meals at Lol K'an. The food was great, plenty of menu options, always hot and the open air quiet jungle setting was wonderful. I don't know if they are there on a regular basis, but on Saturday night there was a talented musical duo that played live music. I just mentioned the beach side Fish Shack or Fish Hut. The real name is La Cervecheria. Great fresh seafood and everyday they had a different Chef's Special. If you are like us and are not fluent in Spanish, don't worry. I have to praise Jose for his ability and willingness to explain what the specials were. All the staff at the Fish Shack/Hut were very helpful and soon knew what we would be having to drink. Speaking of drinks. This is one all inclusive that does not skimp when it comes to their mixed drinks. Not being a connoisseur of alcoholic beverages, I cannot say that all the alcohol served was top shelf, but I recognized most liqueur at the bars as being name brand. I asked for Kalua on the rocks, and I got name brand Kalua not coffee liquor. If you are looking for the biggest bang for the buck, The Explorean has it. Besides all the things I have mentioned, Remember there are daily excursions that are included at no additional charge. If you have ever booked an excursion on a cruise or at an all inclusive you know that excursions can be pricey. At The Explorean, all you have to do is show up at the scheduled time on the correct day to have a wonderful excursion experience led by extremely helpful, friendly activities coordinators. I would be remiss if I did not at least mention by name some of the activities coordinators. Our first snorkeling excursion was with Jassiele and Santiago. These young men took about eight adults out to snorkel with some being novice, some not having snorkeled for 20-30 years. They were great. I don't believe anyone felt left behind, and they were so helpful and attentive. It was so pleasant when they referred to us as "familia". Jassiele is able to free dive and he would dive down and point out the different sea creatures. A great all around experience.

From the moment we arrived, the team was warm, welcoming, and incredibly organized. They took the time to explain the itinerary clearly, making sure everyone felt comfortable and excited about the adventure ahead. Their professionalism immediately stood out, but what impressed us most was how genuinely friendly and attentive they were. During the snorkeling portion, the guides (Vega Hoa and Nestor) were patient and highly knowledgeable. They ensured that everyone—regardless of experience level—felt safe and confident in the water. They were always nearby, pointing out marine life and making sure we didn’t miss the breathtaking starfish that El Cielo is known for. When we reached the area with the stingrays, the staff handled everything with great care and respect for the animals, creating a magical yet responsible encounter. The service went far beyond just guiding the tour. The crew frequently checked in on us, offered refreshments, and made sure we were comfortable at all times. Their positive energy was contagious, and it created a fun, relaxed atmosphere that made the whole trip even more enjoyable. What could have been just a beautiful snorkeling trip turned into a truly memorable experience thanks to the dedication and kindness of the staff. Their attention to detail, safety, and guest satisfaction made all the difference. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone—not only for the stunning scenery of El Cielo, but for the incredible team that makes the experience so special.

The tour guides Vega Hoa, Nestor, Ariel, Santiago and the rest of the guides made sure we had safe and fun trips as well as informative. Everyone was attentive and cordial. The food was excellent.

• Britta (8/5): Ganz gut - aber auch ganz schön teuer - Das Hotel liegt sehr ruhig in einem schönen Garten. Die Zimmer sind toll isoliert sodass man selbst bei ausgeschalteter Klimaanlage super schlafen kann. Betten bequem. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut. Strand gibt es quasi nicht aber guter Zugang zum Meer in dem man direkt losschnorcheln kann. Das Fiesta Hotel das man mit nutzen kann stört nicht. Leider sind die Restaurants allesamt nicht zu empfehlen. Es gibt nur Chilenischen Wein mit übler Qualität und für einen extra Wein zum Beispiel aus Mexiko zahlt man ab 70€. Die Qualität des Essens lässt auch zu wünschen übrig und ist alles andere als mexikanisch nämlich komplett geschmacksneutral.

The excursions were truly the highlight of the trip—well organized, adventurous, and a great way to experience the natural beauty of the island. Every day felt like a new opportunity to explore something unique. We would like to give special thanks to the entire adventure team (Nestor, Mr. Vega, Jassiel, Armando, and the rest of the team) The atmosphere at the resort struck the perfect balance between fun and quiet relaxation. Angel kept it lively around the front pools, but you will still peace and laid-back relaxation in the back when you wanted to unwind. The staff did a great job creating an environment where you could easily switch between adventure mode and total vacation mode. Our room was also very well managed and consistently clean, which made it easy to relax after long days of activities. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a mix of adventure and comfort while visiting Cozumel.

Recommend the Mayan cultural tour, Chaukanaab, and the snorkeling (if you're a beginner or don't remember how to snorkel). The tour guides were friendly and explained everything well. We always felt safe and it was lovely getting to know the island of Cozumel through the excursions. We recommend the ones offered through Explorean.

I would like to recognize some that made our stay so special! Tour guides-Armando, Nestor, Gerardo., Jassiel. I was incredibly impressed with their attention to guests and their friendliness. Look Kan-Claudia, Edwin, Jesus, Isabela and Gabriel were outstanding. Thanks Isabela for recognizing our anniversary and bringing us a special dessert. Mexican restaurant-Felix was an ultra attentive server. The Ceverechia -Jose was our server twice and is very kind! All staff at this resort should be commended for their friendliness and hard work ethic!

• O3892COianm (10/5): Best excursion of our week in Cozumel! - Our snorkel tour with Gerardo and Nestor was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. With three different stops in pristine, crystal-clear waters, each location offered something special. We were thrilled to see a couple of sea turtles, nurse sharks, vibrant tropical fish, starfish, and even numerous manta rays gracefully swimming among us — truly unforgettable moments. Lunch was a highlight as well: fresh seafood ceviche, delicious tuna sandwiches, and refreshing drinks served onboard. The boat ride was very comfortable, and the captain and crew were attentive, professional, and made us feel completely at ease. This experience is a definite must-do when staying at the Explorean All Inclusive Resort!

Nicolas at Rosata and Edgar at El Mexicano restaurants made meals extremely enjoyable. The excursions were top of the line and beyond our expectations. Jasasiel, Nester, Daniel, and Armando were among the best in the tour business . They made everything even better moment of the process extremely enjoyable and smooth! Overall great trip.
• Traveler22449682271 (10/5): El Cielo-Snorkel Adventure - Vega and Nestor were our guides for this 4 hour excursion courteous of the Explorean Hotel. This trip was incredible-our first stop was a shallow reef and we got to see turtles, a nurse shark and lobsters! We then cruised over to El Cielo and got to see a large amount of star fish. We finished our trip at El Cielito and parked in shallow water where we got to swim with sting rays and enjoy some drinks. The ride back was about 1.5 hours and lunch was provided! We had tuna fish sandwiches and ceviche, both 10/10. Sodas, water and cervezas were provided too! Sunscreen is not permitted, even reef safe, to protect the reef, so wear sun shirts if you're privy to sunburns. We had a blast and cannot wait to do it again. Vega and Nestor, you guys are awesome and we appreciate the hospitality!
• U3712DSannr (10/5): Service! - This is my first trip advisor review. I feel strongly about the amazing service we had here. Explorean is a small adults only area in the jungle behind Fiesta Americana. If you dont like a jungle setting, book the fiesta Americana instead. Some advantages to Explorean are a nice restaurant, private pool and hot tub. The biggest advantage is a different excursion each day that is included with the price of your stay! We snorkeled one day and took a drive to the beach in convertibles another day. Both were amazing experiences! Nestor and Daniel were very encouraging and caring to this inexperienced snorkelor. They also ensured we had towels and cold drinks along the way. We had a problem with the water pressure in our room. We reported it, went to dinner and when we got back, Gabriel had it fixed! If I wanted something off menu at one of the restaurants, all I had to do was ask Antonio and he would make it happen! We spent a great deal of time at the Fiesta pool, where Miguel worked his tail off to get our drinks. Miguel went above and beyond to do many extra things for our group. Yasmine and Angel were a lot of fun as pool dj's.

We felt like we were actually in Cozumel, which is an accomplishment for an all inclusive resort. The staff was effective and always friendly. We also appreciated the fact that the Explorean is quieter than the adjacent Fiesta Americana, although we had full access to everything there as well. It was a great visit for us!

When we arrived to the hotel, the lady at the front desk tried to embarrass us and told my husband that he purposely put in 4 and 6 for the ages of my children who are 15 and 17. She then told us that we would have to pay 975 for an extra room because although Expedia considers 15 and 17 as children, the hotel doesn’t. The hotel room is advertised to accommodate 3 adults, see photo. Then she told us that although we will need to pay the extra price for the extra room, she doesn’t have any extra rooms available, but we still need to pay the extra 975 for nothing. We got shaken down for 975 dollars. When I become upset and said to my husband let’s leave and find another hotel, the women became confrontational with me and started yelling at me that it is Expedia fault and not theirs. I honestly just wanted what I was paying for, if you are going to charge me for an extra room, then provide me with the extra room. I love Cozumel and me and my husband have been going there since 1997, but this will be the last trip to Cozumel, I will never go back. I don’t like being scammed out of my money and I don’t like being disrespected because I am a women and that is exactly what I encounter at Explorean.

Where the weather (wind!) kept us from doing the kayaking tour, we were offered a tour of San Miguel instead. The buggy tour was awesome and both snorkel experiences were incredible. This is a great location in the jungle and use of the sister resort on the ocean were included. We really liked the food and drinks and didn't have any issues with anything and everyone was very friendly and you didn't get pushed into the "subscription" service unless you wavered or really wanted a discounted activity sitting through their presentation we heard as they call the timeshare selling these days.

The boat, captained by Angel was spacious and has a decent bathroom. Thank you Explorean! I can’t wait to do it again next year.

Dining - Generally good. Loved the Asian à la carte as well as the fish taco place on the beach! Some evenings missed having a buffet as we usually missed the evening entertainment as dinner took so long. Snorkeling- Very good right off the resort Nightlife - Pretty quiet! All bars/coffee shop closed by 10:30. Seemed pretty low key. Enjoyed karaoke night and mock casino. Overall good experience and would likely return should we come to Cozumel again.

I'm a vegetarian and there was always something at every restaurant for me. What really made this place stand out for me and a big reason I would return again was the included excursions. We hadn't really snorkeled before and the guides were great at explaining everything. The kayak excursion was cancelled due to the weather and instead they took us to learn about the Mayan culture which I really enjoyed. The one thing I did not like about our stay and the reason I'm only giving 4 stars was how damp and musty the room was. It needed a humidifier or something to dry it out.

• LegreeSimon (8/5): Fun in the Jungle - My wife and I spent five rainy days in December at the Explorean. Overall, we had a good time and would consider staying there again in the future. The Explorean sits behind the Fiesta Americana (FA) resort, and Explorean guests have access to all of the FA restaurants and facilities. The good: Snorkeling right off the “beach” of the resort was fabulous. Plenty of colorful sea life including varieties of fish, rays, lobsters, and different corals. There is no real beach, so bring your surf shoes and don’t let the waves push you into the rocks. The included excursions were a good way to get out and see more of Cozumel outside of the resort grounds. The service in general was very good. Most of the wait staff and bartenders tried their best to make sure we were taken care of. The excursion staff were excellent at making sure the group stayed together and stayed safe. Big shout-out to Daniel for doing an excellent job on the snorkeling excursions. The seafood restaurant on the beach (Cevicheria) was superb. They only serve from noon-5:30 PM, but we enjoyed every meal we had there. The OK: Other than the seafood restaurant mentioned above, the restaurants were somewhat hit or miss. We found something to enjoy at each of them, but not always on the first try. Don’t be afraid to give up on a dish that isn’t working for you and order something else. The Explorean has a bunch of 4-unit buildings spread out in the jungle, which might be disconcerting for some people. The rooms themselves are spacious but a little sparse. No microwave, but the mini-fridge is restocked every day. You can let the housekeeper know if you want more of a specific snack or drink. Most of the items in the room were in good shape, but the makeup mirror in the bathroom had exposed wiring with poorly wrapped electrical tape over it. The excursions were also hit or miss. The snorkeling boat trip took us to some very nice areas. The other snorkel trip we did involved walking up the street a bit and drifting in the current back to the resort. Both of these were very safe and our guides did a great job. We also did the buggy tour around the south part of the island. This was fun, but the buggies don’t have windows or doors, and our buggy had a broken parking brake. This wouldn’t be a big deal if you’re going on jungle trails, but the whole trip was on pavement. You also don’t get a chance to stop and explore except for at a commercial beach area and a tequila store. The buggies have manual transmissions, so make sure someone in your group of 4 can drive stick. Our other excursion was a short bike ride to swim in a local cenote. Like the buggies, the bikes functioned but weren’t in the best condition. The cenote was small and didn’t have any real cave features. It would probably be a lot more fun to visit in the heat of the summer. Note that there weren’t enough buggies or bikes for the amount of people trying to do those excursions. This resulted in a scramble of people trying to get to an available bike or buggy. Sitting outside for dinner at the FA Mexican restaurant, we experienced dozens of grackles getting together in a tree to “scream” at the setting sun. This was a very interesting experience, but they were so loud it was hard to have a conversation. There are few signs around the resort and a distinct lack of maps or printed schedules. Prepare to walk around and explore or ask employees for directions. Some of the details can be found on websites that are only reachable through QR codes. Those codes aren’t available everywhere, so take a picture when you find them. The not as good: Check-in and check-out were smooth, but the front desk staff doubled as sales staff for the FA timeshares. They were fairly persistent, so we ended up avoiding them when possible. Not the resort’s fault, but we had rain several of the days we were there. The snorkeling boat trip was the worst, with heavy wind and rain while we huddled on the boat. Guests and staff were shivering from the exposure. Fortunately, getting back in the water allowed you to warm up again.
• bapwin (10/5): Wow! - We are a couple in our 60s who stayed in mid-January. The hotel was supposedly fully booked but it didn’t feel like that at all. No issues getting a lounger, Bali bed, excursion or meal reservation whatsoever. It truly was an enjoyable experience, the best we’ve had at an all inclusive in a very long time. It was about a 30 minute ride from the airport and check in was very quick. A green smoothie was offered, which was refreshing. There were also pastries available which was very welcome. We did sit down with a representative who explained some of the amenities while we were waiting for our bell hop. She didn’t identify herself as such, but she turned out to be a timeshare rep. I knew about this due to reading up on reviews before coming down, so be aware. She wasn’t overly pushy but did want us to book a breakfast meeting. We said no three times and then she gave up. We weren’t giving the room that I had requested (double beds on the second floor). We went back to request another but they’re weren’t any available. Unfortunately or fortunately, out room had a significant water leak coming from the AC condenser? In the ceiling, that caused a huge mess and a small bit of the ceiling falling down within a few hours. We had to wait until the next day, but we were switched to the exact room that I had asked for. It was amazing! The balcony jungle view was lovely and we spent a lot of time sitting out there. The room was spacious. It had wardrobe which was roomy enough for our things. The fridge was well stocked with drinks and snacks. The sink counter space was generous. The toilet is in a separate room. Be aware that you should not be flushing your TP as it could cause issues. I did forget occasionally but never had an issue. The shower was never hot when I used it, not sure when a great time would be to use it. The pool area is serene and never was crowded. The pool was sparkling clean and very refreshing. The hot tub was actually hot! The restaurant / bar is right beside it and it was always easy to get a drink or snack. There’s a small breakfast setup in the mornings that featured muffins, rolls, pastries. Sometimes tamales and hot chocolate. There’s also a pastry case that has a pretty good selection of treats, sweet and savoury. We only ate at the restaurant once, the first night that we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious! Service at the front desk was very good and we had no issues with communication. They offer money exchange (we were using pesos). Be aware that the smallest bill is usually a 50. I tried getting 20s but these were very rarely available. The bars didn’t have them either. I was looking forward to the excursions and we did appreciate them. We were given our week’s schedule at check in. We opted for the Chankaanab tour. You have your choice of travelling by bike or foot (15 minute walk). I’d been in the early 90s and it’s completely changed. It was very commercialized and VERY pricey if you wanted food or drinks ($18 USD for a margarita). The snorkeling wasn’t really that great. If you’ve never been, you should probably go. Jassiel’s guided tour of the Mayan village was the highlight. There’s also a sea lion show that may be of interest. Otherwise, I found that it was probably two hours more than I wanted to spend there (4 hour duration). We also did the buggy tour which was very nice, basically a tour of the southern half of the island. There was a 10 minute stop at Punta Sur, and then a stop at a beach club on the east side. Again, expensive for any food or drinks and too much of a layover. I wish we had stopped at the lighthouse instead. It was a nice drive though and nice to experience the mostly unspoiled beauty of that side of the island. We didn’t do any of the other tours. The weather was too windy on the day of our El Cielo tour, they do not reschedule that one within your week. We were offered chankaanab again or a bike tour, but declined. There’s a bike ride to a nearby cenote offered. I ended up just walking for 25 minutes to see it for myself. A bit disappointing, it doesn’t have the crystal clear waters you would expect. I also just walked south down the adjacent road. It’s a nice walk as there’s not that much traffic and the scenery is pretty. You can use the bikes for your own adventure if they aren’t all in use for their excursions. They’re actually in decent shape. We loved being able to have full use of all of the amenities at the Fiesta Americana. The pool area was lively and we had fun participating in some of the games. I loved all of the lounge areas and the swings. Service everywhere was good and friendly. The coffee corner was fabulous, great specialty coffee and ice cream. The restaurants at the Fiesta were really good as well. The Asian was our favourite, followed by the Mexican. I tried the Sushi as well which was good. The only miss was the Italian, we didn’t care for either of our meals, but the view was great. The breakfast Buffet with the ocean view was sublime. There was a nice selection of anything that you could want and we were never waiting for our coffees. Service was quick and efficient. The speciality coffees are also available here, which was very impressive. A basket with a carafe of coffee and two banana bread muffins was left outside our room every morning. We very much appreciated this! The one criticism I have is the quality of the drinks, the cocktails just aren’t very good. I’m not sure what the “fruit” juice is that’s being used but any fruity drink wasn’t enjoyable. One day they offered fresh coconut and pineapple drinks for $150 pesos. This was disappointing, other all inclusives I’ve been to usually offer this for free. The only cocktail I enjoyed was the espresso martini. They would run over to the coffee corner to have an espresso freshly made. The house reds were a Chilean Merlot and a Cabernet Sauvignon, not bad and usually my go-to drink. If you like to snorkel, this is the place to do it! This was so much better than chankanaab! You’ll see fish just about anywhere in front of the resort, but there were hundreds of fish of different varieties just at the footings of the pier on the north side. I’ve never seen anything like it, they were everywhere. Bring some bread and you’ll be swarmed, it’s incredible. I had my own gear. The resort does have gear available to rent. The shows at the Fiesta were pretty good. We enjoyed Circus Night, the fire show and pre-Hispanic night. There was no pre-show for kids and they were mostly early starts between 7-8. We loved it! We rarely return to the same resort but we’re already making plans to return to this one. It was such a great experience. We loved the amenities, excursions, and the kind and wonderful staff. We can’t wait to be back!
• gupta (1/5): Never again! - restaurant staff there was black mold in the room we were given on check-in. When reported and asked for another room, they took nearly a whole day to sort but it was sorted in the end. My son got food poisoning from the sister all inclusive Fiesta Americana Hotel on day 2 night and we ended up in hospital - paid $2500 USD to get fluids and nearly missed our flight back to UK that day. Didnt manage to do much snorkelling at all or go to El Cielo as we wanted to- all in all very disappointing- only saving grace is the restaurant staff are absolutely lovely- food taste was meh.

• Serena (10/5): Great hotel - Beautiful setting in the jungle, but have all access to amenities of the larger hotel in front. Staff was really great all around, always helpful, kind. They made the place look well cared for, and the guests well cared for. In high season, there were always chairs available by the pools, and at the restaurants. The buffet by the water has a nice setting, loved the breakfast there. While the excursions we did were great, and the guides awesome, there was no choice on excursion, or advance notice (before checking in) of what is the schedule for your excursions. It makes it hard to plan an outside excursion if what you want to see is not being offered.
• N2304UDrm (10/5): The Resort El Ciello Snorkel Tour 5⭐️ - This tour is included with your resort stay and it is amazing! Nestor and Armando are the best hands down. They’re extremely friendly helpful and they make sure you’re 100% safe. My wife had never snorkeled before and was a bit hesitant and they made her experience wonderful. So much so she wants to go again! The snorkeling was beautiful and they made sure we saw all sorts of marine life including starfish, tropical fish of all kinds and even a ray. We cannot recommend this tour as well as Nestor and Armando.

We ate at all the restaurants except for the Sushi place - we were just not in the mood for it - all the food is high quality, fresh ceviche and good choice of drinks, excellent presentation. Things are very chill, they make your food after your order so don't expect for the food to arrive 5 min after you ordered. Explorean casitas are really nice with a sliding door opposite the bed, so every morning you wake up to a beautiful rain forest outside your window. It was very quiet and felt very private. Don't expect a high pressure water in the shower. Bed was pretty firm and comfortable. We went on several tours including a boat ride to snorkeling and El Cielo and buggy drive around the island - Jassiel and Ariel and Vega are great tour guides at all they do: very insightful, personable, kind and helpful. We loved having our meals at Lol'kan, excellent quality. We were always asked if we had any special food requirements or allergies. All inclusive on all the meals felt really worth it. In the morning it was great to have breakfast buffet at the Fiesta America and then walk to the pier with our coffee and stare at the fish swimming right under the pier and the boats going by. Alejandra is a great hostess. We got to the beach cabanas around 7am and would put our stuff down for an all day hang there - first come first serve. There is easy access for snorkeling and swimming- just go down the wood stairs with rails that are hanging off the shore. In the evenings there were different shows, about 30-40 minutes and then music to dance to. Staying at Explorean was like having 2 hotels at your disposal: one to enjoy total peace and quiet, and walk over to the Fiesta gives a more of a party atmosphere with activities and dancing music at night and direct ocean acces. I don't recall all the names unfortunately, and here are the folks that really made a difference with their kindness and good vibes and hospitality: Aleksy, Vega, Jassiel, Ariel, Jesus, Edwin, Francisco, Luis, Selene, Fernanda, Miguel, Aaron, Alejandro and Alejanda, Fermin, Larisa. We'd do this kind of a vacation again.
• Yang (7/5): Nice stay - The room is quiet and privacy. The garden view outside the balcony is beautiful. There are little yellow belly birds come to the balcony every morning. The pool and restaurant are never crowded. The snorkeling tour guide was great. Good snorkeling around the beach area. The room smells not good. The air conditioner of our room was a little loud. The only has the shower on the ceiling.

• jbertoni (8/5): A nice adventure with a good time had by all! - The Explorean is a very small property that sits in the jungle behind the Fiesta Americana (Jungle life is humid and damp, but that is part of life in paradise). It has its own restaurant that is lovely with a very nice changing menu and a wonderful staff. Really enjoyed breakfast with almost individual attention. We were told by more than one staff member, "This is your vacation, just relax." The pool and hot pool/tub are very nice and uncrowded. You have access to all the Fiesta Americana restaurants and bars and I would say they were ok but remember the price point. The excursions were a great added value. At any other resort, you would pay about $200 a person and we were able to take advantage of a few (swimming in a cenote and over a coral reef). You will walk or bike to some of the attractions, but the staff is again wonderful and very attentive. Our guide had a great knowledge and was willing to explain in Spanish and English with towels and beverages always offered. Nice because you are just far enough away from all the cruise ships, but close enough that you could walk/taxi into Cozumel. For those who like to bike, Cozumel is very bikeable with bike lanes/private roads around the entire southern end of the island. We would recommend Cozumel Rent a Bike online to get a road bike delivered to the resort. The whole trip was a nice adventure.

We had the quiet of the Explorean casitas (yes, there are 4 units per building) and facilities, but ready access to the shore and restaurants at Fiesta. Most of the staff were super nice and tried hard to be helpful - nobody was rude. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We liked having the always available Explorean restaurant close by, but some of their dishes were hit and miss (unexpected combinations of ingredients, some dishes not hot). It was nice to have the daily activities included. I did the cenote bike ride and the snorkeling excursion. We opted out of the self-drive "buggy ride" to the east shore. It was a 4-hour trip that started at 3 pm, which would have meant an hour or more of driving in the dark in unfamiliar territory in an unfamiliar vehicle. No thanks. There was also pretty good snorkeling right in front of the Fiesta. Many varieties of colorful fish. Some reviewers seem shocked that there is no sandy beach, but that probably enhances the snorkeling. You can either wade in gradually from a rocky area by some steps, or descend one of several wooden ladders by the beach chairs. Just wear reef shoes instead of flippers. Do not snorkel to the left of the dock since excursion boats pull in and out there. We experienced few bugs while there, but take insect repellent. My wife got a few ankle bites one evening during dinner. All-inclusive is the way to go!

It was absolutely wonderful, we stopped at three places to snorkel and saw turtles, stingrays, and many, many fish. I would highly recommend taking an excursion with these gentlemen.

Alejandro and Aaron were especially attentive throughout the reception. Drinks were tasty, food was good, and the ocean was beautiful. We did two of the excursion options and really enjoyed snorkeling along the shoreline.
• Brin145 (10/5): Last Minute December Getaway - We had the most wonderful trip to Explorean Cozumel. It was a last minute booking and we enjoyed everything from checkin until departure. The staff there was most notable. When we arrived, we had traveled from Cancun airport and it was a long day. We were shown to a lovely room that was clean and modern. Note that you do not have a tv in the room, but you can access the wifi to use your own devices. We dined at the Explorean's Lool Kan restaurant daily for breakfast. Most nights we also had dinner there. You do not need reservations for this one, but the food is top tier. It is an outdoor restaurant overlooking an amazing pool. The waiters at Lool Kan were all excellent. I did record some names since they do deserve recognition--Edwin, Gabriel, and Alejandro. Make sure to bring tip money because you will want to show them you appreciate their service. We ate dinner at the sister resort (Fiesta) for two meals with reservations at the Italian and Asian restaurant. They were good as well, but I think Lool Kan at the Explorean was the best. For lunch everyday we ate seafood restaurant at the ocean across the street which is also included. We would simply leave our sunbeds and walk over for things like ceviche and grilled fish. All of the food was delicious. We were offered activities daily but only participated in the buggy tour and the boat snorkel trip with Dive House 3's boat staff, Armando and Vega. These guys took such good care of us and we had the best snorkeling trip we've ever had. They took us to a sandbar where we swam with stingrays! The weather was in the 80s daily and there was some humidity, but we honestly couldn't ask for better since it was freezing back home. :) We enjoyed this last minute getaway so much!

• SMZ927 (10/5): A truly fantastic family vacation! - We love the Explorean Cozumel. This was our second trip. We all want to go back again. The property is beautiful. Having access to both the amenities at the Explorean and Fiesta Americana was a perfect combination. When we wanted excitement, we went to Fiesta Americana. When we were ready to relax, we returned to the Explorean. We spent time every day at the Explorean pool. It was so relaxing. We loved each of the excursions offered by the Explorean. Our favorites were the guided snorkeling, including El Cielo and Dzul Ha. We tried all of the restaurants and never had a bad meal. We traveled as a family (age range of 12 to 60), and everyone enjoyed it. While all of the above made it great, what made it truly fantastic is the staff at the Explorean. Everyone is focused on delivering the best customer service. They are so friendly and helpful, from the bellman to the cleaning staff to the bartenders and waiters to the guides. They were always there with a genuine smile and ready to help. I want to give particular note to Vega and Jacciel (guides), Cristell (concierge), Eduardo (bellman), Luis (Fiesta Americana coffee bar), and, at the Explorean bar and restaurant, Luis, Edwin (both of them), and Alejandro.

We spotted a manta ray, a small shark, lots of fish, and starfish. It’s our second time coming back to The Explorean, and they were our guides last time as well. We can’t thank them enough!
• 882elyj (10/5): Best experience - We spent the day at ElCielo, ElCielito and Colombian Corals with Joseil and Armando, and they took incredible care of us from start to finish. Between the ceviche, the fresh sandwiches and that insane turquoise water, the whole tour already felt perfect… then came the wildlife. We swam alongside sharks, manta rays, turtles and schools of colorful fish that looked straight out of a movie. It ended up being an unforgettable experience, not just because of the places we visited, but because the entire crew made it amazing. Thank you!
• 758brijeshs (8/5): Excellent for novice snorkelers / first timers in Cozumel - We just checked out today, after a 5 day stay. We were a couple with a 5 year old and this was our first time in Cozumel. Highlights: for novice snorkelers: this provided excellent snorkeling just off the shore and is at walking distance from nearby spots like Dzul Ha, Playa Ulvas, and Chankanaab. 3 of the 4 excursion allowed for snorkeling opportunities. In addition to the excursions by Explorean you also have access to activities on Fiesta Americana, which includes snorkeling lessons. We could even bring our 5 year old along on one of the snorkeling excursions, holding on to a buoy used by the very patient guide. The resort also offers you life jackets if you want to snorkel on your own, there is a life guard and clearly marked safe areas. Resort: Explorean side has a very nice tropical forest feel and you can access the larger pool side area on the FA side where activities happen through the day Room: Spacious enough for a king size bed and a side bed for the child. You will notice some solidly built furniture. Food: 6 restaurants to choose from. We like vegetarian and preferred the Asian and Italian one for dinner. Most of the items would rank 6-6.5/10. We are far from disappointed, just didn’t find many wow options The coffee is consistently average. Excursions: Pre-allocated for full days that you are here. I hear that the boat ride and buggy ride are the best ones, but they were scheduled on weekends and did not match our stay dates. While all other excursions are good, it does feel disappointing that we missed the best ones. Staff and Service: Top Notch 10/10 everyone The concierge do try to push attending a breakfast meeting in lieu of spa passes / tours. We declined. At this price point we would want to return.

I loved the excursions and being able to see around the island and in town. We biked, drove buggies, kayaked, and snorkeled. Our guides, Jasiel and Nestor were awesome in making each trip fun! They explained how to use equipment and described the background or history of the places we visited. My absolute favorite excursion was the long boat ride to the reef and starfish sandbar to snorkel. Also, the food was delicious and there were plenty of options. Breakfast was the best with Vicki expertly preparing handmade tortillas for quesadillas. The Mexican restaurant was my favorite dinner option. Overall, I enjoyed my stay immensely. There were plenty of options for fun outings with a good balance of relaxation by the ocean. Can't wait to visit again!

Overall, the service was warm and positive. Yazmín from the Kids Club deserves special recognition for her great energy and kindness. Alejandra, the hostess, was consistently friendly and attentive, and the lady making the morning quesadillas was always smiling, warm, and incredibly sweet. Where things dipped a bit was not at The Explorean itself, but at the neighboring Fiesta Americana, which shares some restaurants and activities. Over there, it often felt like several staff members expected tips in advance, and at one of their improvised Italian restaurants, a waiter actually demanded one despite offering very poor service. Still, The Explorean delivers a great experience overall. The people who truly care — like Yazmín, Alejandra, and the amazing quesadilla lady — make the stay memorable and absolutely worth recommending

Loved how small and intimate it was, but also that we were able to use fiesta resort. Food at Lol Kan was delicious. The excursion/activity staff were all amazing. Excellent snorkeling right from the beach. Can't wait to come back here someday! The rooms were so much nicer and larger than they appear in pictures.

They shared their knowledge of the island with us and made sure every need was met. Their compassion for all the life on the island and in the sea was great to see.
