Guest Reviews
- Catalina (10/5): - Everything was great and worked well. Water was a bit cold we couldn’t figure out how to warm it up. Pool was being redone so that was a bummer
- James R (10/5): - This place is someone’s art project centered around making tequila. It is amazing.
- Jorge (10/5): - The hotel is a gem in the beautiful town of Tequila. Service was great and room comfortable. The food at the restaurants both for breakfast and lunch were amazing
- rau (6/5): - Besides you are paying usd300 per night the service on the staff are not the BEST they do need to be trained for customer service purposes. Restaurant hours is stated until 8. 30 pm but they turn off the equipment at 8. Check out is at 11 am that is a shame that they want to charge you an extra for delaying the check out
- Karla (10/5): - Free shots and nice staff that tour you around.
- Ronald (10/5): - Beautiful place. Tequila tasting and tour of factory was really fun.
- Adriana (10/5): - Their tequila tour is better than what you'll find in the centro. Don't pass it up and it's included with your stay!
- Cameron (10/5): - It’s a tad distant from the town, but otherwise this is a fantastic place to stay. Great staff, nice rooms, and fantastic restaurant on site.
- Areli (10/5): - Loved the rooms. Only think would be the bathrooms could be a little bit cleaner.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Amazing!
- Asdruval (8/5): - The theme is unique and related ti the town
- Lucas (10/5): - Overall it’s an excellent experience
- Ruby (10/5): - Beautiful place! My first time at tequila and will definitely come back here.
- Juan C (10/5): - Good service
- Esmeralda (10/5): - Mucha paz y tranquilidad, me encanto, bonita experiencia!
- Lundyn (10/5): - had an amazing stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed.
One of the highlights of my stay was definitely the free shots—such a fun and unexpected touch that really added to the experience. It made the atmosphere feel relaxed and enjoyable, perfect for a vacation.
The cleanliness of the entire property was also top-notch. My room was spotless, and everything felt fresh and well-maintained throughout my stay.
Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my experience here. Great vibes, excellent staff, and thoughtful extras like the free shots made it a memorable trip. I’d absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone!
- Teresita (10/5): - Everything was beautiful, it is very big
- Jennifer (10/5): - It everything
- LILIANA (10/5): - Great hotel. They have complementary drinks as soon as you check in. The rooms are clean and super cute. Great place to stay in tequila
- Stephanie (6/5): - The hotel was very quiet, wifi was patchy at best and didn't work for some of our party. The rooms were clean and spacious and had AC so we were happy with the room itself. But the location of the hotel was not idea, it is a 5-10 minute taxi outside of the main town down bumpy gravel roads. Breakfast was average and service was slow and they had no juice available which was a disappointment.
Ni (our guide on our tequila tour) was great and she gave a brilliant tour in English - the tour was the only highlight of our trip.
- Jill (10/5): - The staff was extremely helpful. The grounds were beautiful and our room was decorated beautifully. Issues with water pressure and the water never got hot…god thing it was 90+ degreas
- Priscilla (10/5): - Wonderful!! 10/10!!
- Stephanie (10/5): - Staff extremely accommodating. They were able to give us early check in with no problem. Property was gorgeous
- Myrna (10/5): - Super nice
- john (10/5): - Very interesting place. Learned a lot about tequila and how it is produced
- Missia (10/5): - My day was wonderful. The only reason I’m giving it three stars for property condition and facility is because the AC did break in a few of our rooms but they did just fix it right away
- Daniel (4/5): - The photos and the advertising for this property look great but the reality is they don’t match in real life. The staff are very nice and accommodating, but the property has been neglected and is not a good shape. The rooms were dirty, I had no hot water, and the bed was extremely hard
The location is not ideal as you are about 10 to 15 minutes away from downtown and they do not have any shuttle service or drivers to bring you outside of the property
The pool area was a joke and in disarray. This property looks like it might’ve been five years ago, but then it’s current state. I would not recommend staying here.
- Cecilia (10/5): - Great time !
- cain (10/5): - Tequila tour on there property was nice and good tequila. Distillery on the property was nice also
- Tricia (8/5): - Cute hotel slightly outside town. A fun experience to sleep in a ‘tequila’ barrel.
- Edgar (10/5): - The staff here is very nice. The rooms are a great experience
- Sylvia (2/5): - I’m disappointed i was not notified the place has been shut down for the past 2 months. I could have canceled my flight or made other plans.
- Denelle (10/5): Closed by the government but great help in booking - When we arrived we found out they had been closed down by Mexican government. The guard at the gate called the manager who then booked us into the 5 star hotel in downtown Tequila. It was a more expensive hotel but they covered the cost difference. Very impressed with how they handled it.
- Miriam Melissa (4/5): - I had an experience expected. We wanted to be in the full experience.
But a few days before my trip I called to see if we could bring our baby with us and told me that the hotel was closed and that they were thinking about calling us to tell us. At the end the staff was helpful and gave us the other hotel that was in our option but for a reason we wanted to stay at a barrica.
- Jose (8/5): - We liked that this hotel was downtown and within easy access to everything. But other than a bed and a bathroom, there were no extras and for the price, there should have been some extras. The price of the room does not match what you get. Very disappointing.
- Diana (2/5): - The hotel cancelled my reservation one week before arrival and getting a refund was one of the worst experiences.
- Allison (10/5): Tequila barrel hotel with heart! - Awesome little barrel hotel on the grounds of a tequila distillery. Really cool designed buildings and restaurant. The resident ducks are gorgeous too!
- Soraya (10/5): - Perfectly located
- Rafael (10/5): - Everything was Amazing
- Maria (10/5): - Beautiful Style loved the peace
- Roberta (8/5): - Restaurant was the downfall. Would give it 2 stars out of 5. Meals cold, two individuals got stomach problems and margaritas were not original-more like sugary pop.
- Giselle (10/5): - Amazing service and very beautiful!
- Alma (10/5): - Each unique barril name with nice murals , property is very peaceful
- Ryan (10/5): - Great place to visit. They have everything you need. The tequila tour was amazing and the restaurant was excellent.
- Marisa (8/5): - I love the whole experience the only negative thing I have to say is the the front staff could be more friendly and the check in/out more convenient/faster
- Tomas (10/5): - Great Experience
- Myra (10/5): - It was 10/10 , informative staff. Tequila Tour guide went above and beyond to make the tour fun and informative. Place was relaxing and as pictured. Highly recommend booking hotel. Best part was constant tequila shots .
- Erika (10/5): Book it!!! - Awesome stay! Very cool and fun place! The staff was friendly and they derve shots!! Even the public bathrooms are a barrel! The pool area was nice!
- Joel (10/5): - Great stay to take a break from day to day life. Highly recommended.
- Jose (10/5): - Great
- Alma (10/5): - Beautiful property! everything was clean and has a restaurant. The only negative thing is that you’re far from downtown.
- David (10/5): - Hermoso. Lugar y servicio
- Jacky (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful property, our stay was amazing!!
- Jorge (8/5): - The place is amazing, but they have lots of ducks. The only problem is that they are really messy and they need someone or somebody or a special crew to be in charge and clean all the walks so people can enjoy more of the beautiful place they have.
- Patricia (10/5): - Unique concept really really nice!! Would highly recommend this experience, the restaurant and breakfast areas were so beautiful nothing I have ever experienced you will definitely love this places must see & experience!❤️
- Miguel (10/5): - Bbb
- Martha (8/5): - It’s a hidden treasure but away from the main attractions of Tequila. No transportation is also a downfall. Having to get an Uber or taxi was very difficult.
- glendiz (10/5): - Muy recomendable
- Ericka (6/5): - The property was in need of outdoor cleaning. There was a terrible smell on the property from thousands of mangos on the floor and ducks galore everywhere. The showers amd sink were covered to keep bugs out but we weren't warned so the water overflowed and the ftontdesk leaves at 10pm to help. The road the leads to the hotel is TERRIBLE its a dirt road with a lot of pot holes not good if you are in a small rental car. The Barrica itself was amazing and the tour was wonderful. Great drinks and food.
- Benito (10/5): - I
- Juliana (10/5): - Beautiful experience y los barriles preciosos y el pueblo y su gente wow 😍
- TERESA (6/5): - I did not have a good experience in this place personally I think It’s overrated because of the barrel Concept Hotel in the middle of agave fields
but in all truth the cleanliness of this place is not the greatest, I found hair stuck on the shower walls, bad smell coming out of the bathroom shower drain and sink, long hair on my bed and dirty floors .
I'm actually very disappointed with that place,
I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Excellent staffing, everyone was super polite and welcoming.
- Andrea (10/5): - Great staff! Amazing
- Lidia (6/5): - The staff were very helpful. The stay was not pleasant. The room (barrel made of cement) had horrible ventilation and the ac unit took a full day to make the room bearable. It was a hot box. The location is not ideal. They do have two restaurants on premises. The food was ok. The pool was dirty. Although it was extremely hot, no one was in the pool. I overheard someone saying the pool water “clear as mud”. Definitely not worth the nearly $400 USD a night.
- Veronica (8/5): - Concept and place is nice, a bit rough in road to get there (lots of rocks) AC was not working properly and it was hot. Also, it could be cleaned up a bit since they have a lot of ducks roaming around.
- Jackeline (10/5): - Muy padre 🍻 si están en tequila les recomiendo quedarse en este hotel. Muy bonito y grande con mucho espacio
- Magali (10/5): - Outstanding staff and very clean
- Kenya (6/5): - The hotel is super unique, but the isn't much to do there. The rooms were super clean. The food is mediocre. I stayed 2 days, but I was really bored and ready to leave. The tour was okay.
- Hector (10/5): - Great hotel
- Diego (8/5): - Restaurants closed early and needed more lighting and activities at the property
- Esme (8/5): - The hotel felt safe and clean. It was a great experience except for the mosquitos. There was only one restaurant in the property and ubers would not go up to the property so you have to get a taxi but the taxis came quick
- Robbin (10/5): - Unique rooms. Nice deck
- Grecia (10/5): - Our stay at Matices was a fun and unique experience. We stayed for just one night after visiting Tequila and it was a great end to a long day. The hotel is just out of the way of the main area in the center area of the city. It feels a bit out of the way but security was excellent a taxi will cost you about $5. The check in was easy and we were greeted with tequila shots and water, just what we needed. The room itself was clean and fresh. The AC worked great and the room had plenty of amenities including a mini fridge with plenty to drink. The room was adorable, I loved the patio area in the morning light. Breakfast was not included for us since I booked via Expedia but we ate at their restaurant and the food was delicious and inexpensive. I would definitely stay again if I return to Tequila.
- Misty (10/5): - Our favorite stay during our Mexico visit. This is a must stay for those who like history and eclectic adventures. The staff was exceptional and friendly. We participated in the Tequila tour and learned a lot about our favorite drink. The property is clean and quiet. We were able to walk the grounds freely and enjoy the ducks and ambiance. We felt safe and welcome. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinner at the restaurants. Will recommend to friends and family who would like to visit Tequila, Jalisco!!!
- Luisa (10/5): - I had the best experience visiting Matices! The place is gorgeous one of a kind and everyone was so nice, courteous and friendly. I love the free Tequila tasting and the free tour of the place. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here when visiting Tequila Jalisco!
- Ruben (8/5): - This is a cute place and is a working tequila factory. The Barricas are instagram worthy but for the cost of the stay you would expect a better bed, wifi (they have it but it’s really bad that you’re better off not using it. The speed is like 3 mb down and 6 up.) the grounds need more and better upkeep. The complimentary tequila tour was the highlight and the underground cave restaurant. Food and service was delicious. I would not buy their tequila their because it can be purchased online for 40% less.
- Shaun (10/5): - Friendly taff
- Jed (10/5): - The concept is a great one. The room was roomy and had all the amenities that you need for a good night stay.
- Jennifer (10/5): - A very unique experience! Loved the hotel. The walkways are a little bumpy because of the stone but it’s all part of the experience. Staff was so so nice.
- Rocio (10/5): - Loved this property, but please don’t expect it to look like the pictures online. The complimentary tour and breakfast were divine, though.
- Suzett (10/5): - Had a one night stay and it was fantastic!! The restaurant was beautiful and super delicious! The next day after checking out we did a tour of the production of tequila and it was greag! Super recommend
- Graciela (10/5): - I liked that it was very quiet and felt safe. What I didn’t like was that it was not walkable to town.
- Isaias Ulloa (6/5): - Fhe experience and the views are nice .
- Jesus (10/5): - Tematico
- Miguel (10/5): - Very unique place.
Restaurant served delicious food.
- Arnulfo (10/5): - The stay includes so many activities and free things, it was awesome and so much fun.
- Guadalupe (4/5): - No hot water
- Paulo (4/5): No AC in the pods at 105 degrees - They kept giving us rooms with broken ACs. Terrible as we wasted our time during a single night stay. It was a 105 degrees in those pods with no AC, the AC guy would work on it and ask us to wait 30min, did it for 3 times and 3 different rooms.
- Jess (8/5): - Beautiful place to stay but getting a Uber driver is impossible. Reception is not great and the AC isn’t the best. But it’s a beautiful experience you should try it once.
- Roberto (6/5): - I arrived around 10pm, people in reception was very gently. Room was nice but the bathroom was a mess, no hot water until next morning after reported two times. The environment is phenomenal but per the price all amenities should work perfectly.
- albeza (2/5): - They charge me extra just for no reason
- Jennifer (10/5): - Pretty. Relaxing. Isolated. Quiet.
- Jenny (10/5): - Friendly staff, beautiful views
- Berenice (10/5): - Everything, they had a tequila tour, the rooms were so beautiful and unique, the trees were full of delicious mangoes. Just a gorgeous paradise
- Dora (4/5): - Rude staff very nice hotel for the experience wish the receptionist and managers are
More train on customer service
- Jessica (8/5): - The barricas rooms are cute and so is the whole area.
- Servando (10/5): - Wonderful stay and worth it
