• Thomas (4/5): Unangenehm feuchtes Zimmer. - Eigentlich nicht viel. Das Zimmer war zu feucht, sämtliche Kleider und das Bett sind feucht geworden. Unter der Eingangstüre war ein grosser Spalt, sodass zB. Insekten ohne weiteres reinkommen konnten. Das WC wies einen unangenehmen Geruch auf. siehe oben.

• Zainab (5/5): A good stay, with loads of history. However could do with some updating. - Location. Very private with beautiful views. Staff were very helpful and willing to please. The hotel was central to all the attractions and restaurants. The rooms needed updating. The rooms were damp, which was probably due to the location. Dehumidifiers might have helped. No nets on windows to keep the bugs out, hence we were unable to open the windows during the night.

• VERNIER (8/5): Un bel endroit hors du temps - Un hôtel dans un écrin de verdure.Une très belle vue des chambres avec balcon.C’est une ancienne école anglaise.Tres joli jardin.Loin de la cohue de Thana Rata mais on peut y aller à pied. Beaucoup de charme à l’anglaise et non un horrible complexe.Accueil très chaleureux .Tour des environs possible voir avec l’accueil.Nous avons très bien mangé le soir au restaurant et Tea Time de charme.Le mobilier des chambres n’est pas moderne mais reste dans le charme vintage colonial de l’hôtel .

• Martin (9/5): Eine prima Wahl für Tanah Rata - Das Bala‘s ist ein altes englisches Herrenhaus mit Fachwerk, Türmchen etc. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, auch wenn man dem Haus schon ansieht, dass es halt wirklich alt ist. Terrasse, Außenbereich etc. wirklich groß und gepflegt. Die Anlage war zu Kolonialzeiten eine englische Schule, in der die Lehrer auch gewohnt haben. Es gibt englisches Mobiliar (Ohrensessel etc.) und offene Kamine. Am Nachmittag bekommt man frische Scones mit clotted cream zum High Tea. Das Frühstück ist eher übersichtlich (kein Buffet). Tanah Rata ist wirklich keine Schönheit und die Hautstraße geht mitten durch den Ort. Das Bala‘s liegt ruhig ca. 15 Min. zu Fuß von der Ortsmitte entfernt. Taxi vom Busbahnhof (d Säulen immer genug) 15 RM.

• Nor Hadhirah (7/5): - Nice secluded place to stay at a reasonable price. It gives the British cottage vibe. They could really look into upgrading certain furnitures in the room. The wardrobe in my room was such in a bad condition. Water heater was not functioning well. Breakfast was ridiculously expensive. Its not even buffet. The owner was racist. Only greeted international tourists and his own kind.

Second room higher up was nicer but shower failed to work and was still fairly damp and tired. Was just quite expensive for what we got. Omelette cooked by chef was great but tea and coffee was very bad.

The water heater reheats slowly, requiring a wait between showers, and the small, uneven car park can be challenging for larger vehicles.
• Przemyslaw (1/5): - Zdecydowanie nie polecam tego hotelu. Obiekt reklamowany jako 4-gwiazdkowy w żaden sposób nie spełnia standardów, które powinny się z tym wiązać. Ocena 3 gwiazdek i tak wydaje się zawyżona. Największym problemem jest czystość. Ręczniki oraz pościel były brudne, z widocznymi śladami użytkowania. Również lustro w łazience nie zostało odpowiednio posprzątane. Nie są to detale, które można zignorować. Czysta pościel i ręczniki to absolutna podstawa, niezależnie od standardu obiektu. Dodatkowo w łazience była zimna woda i bardzo słabe ciśnienie, co uniemożliwiało komfortowy prysznic. W pokoju było okropnie zimno, a brak klimatyzacji lub innego systemu umożliwiającego podgrzanie pomieszczenia sprawiał, że nie dało się zapewnić podstawowego komfortu cieplnego. Na minus również hałas oraz bardzo cienkie ściany, przez które słychać było wszystko z sąsiednich pokoi. WiFi było skrajnie słabe i niestabilne, praktycznie nieprzydatne nawet do podstawowego korzystania z internetu. Rozczarowujące było również wyżywienie. W menu oferowano różne rodzaje naleśników, jednak rano okazało się, że nie ma dostępnego wariantu, który zamówiłam, a porcje były ściśle wyliczone i bardzo skromne. Dodatkowym problemem był brak informacji o gniazdkach niekompatybilnych z polskimi wtyczkami. Na miejscu nie było przejściówek, przez co nie było możliwości naładowania telefonu, co w dzisiejszych czasach jest absolutnie podstawową potrzebą. Nie mam wygórowanych oczekiwań i nie jestem osobą, która szuka luksusów, ale w tym przypadku zawiedzione zostały podstawowe standardy hotelowe. Nie polecam tego miejsca, zwłaszcza rodzinom z dziećmi. Brud, zimno i ogólny brak komfortu sprawiają, że pobyt nie daje żadnej przyjemności.

• Kimberley (10/5): Immaculate vibes, friendly staff, great service! - The staff were very kind and attentive, the vibes were immaculate, the view was gorgeous, the price was reasonable for the service, the room was cozy, and the food was amazing. If anything, I love how secluded and calm it is here, it truly is one of the best getaways I've been to. Thank you Bala's Holiday Chalet for hosting, you've been so accommodating and we loved it all. We hope to visit again in the future!

It was very oldie worldy and the property made us feel at home with all of the rooms decorated and furnished with antiques and interesting knick knacks. The food was exceptional and prepared using all natural ingredients and spices. We met the owner Bala who was a real bon viveur and had some lovely tales to tell. I would recommend Bala' chalets to anyone who wants to experience something different. That we couldn't stay longer.

We had soup with non garlic bread, lamb grill & bolognese spaghetti. Asthetic 10/10, taste 2/10 Kinly plese improved the scone as the texture similar with muffin not scone

• Murmann (7/5): Also the property is very unique, we are not sure if we would stay again at this place. - It’s a very unique property, which we enjoyed. The staff was attentive and friendly. The bathroom had no window - means no natural light. Water pressure was a bit weak and the hot and cold water at the shower was wrongly connected. So we first thought there is no hot water until we changed the tap to the other side. In front of our terrace was a large plastic canvas with a big flower pot on it. We had rain in the night so the water ran from the roof direct into the pot, which was very noisy and disturbing.

The afternoon was rainy/ chilly and we were treated to an excellent curry diner by the fireplace (with fire to warm us up). • Nicole (8/5): - A hotel full of character and charm, far enough from the ugly town and surrounded by greenery and many flowers. Quite a nice choice of breakfast options. Not a single hook to hang your clothes, the outside furniture wasn't comfortable which didn't help enjoy the mediocre tea. Food in the restaurant wasn't up to what you can eat in the "ugly town" at a fraction of the price.
