Guest Reviews
- Kevin (2/5): Frustrating - The location. After we checked in another guest checked in and was put in the adjoining room even though there were plenty of vacant rooms available. The new guest was very loud. This made the entire stay very uncomfortable. After many hours of driving it was very annoying to not be able to relax and rest.
- Maxine (7/5): -
- Steve (6/5): Slept well, good for shower, 1 night stay, - Employees talking all hours of night
- Stefani (3/5): - The clerk that checked us in was nice. We were in room 111, the bathroom was not clean, there was pubic hairs on the shampoo on the wall, the drain plug was not in the drain, and there was a lit of hair on top of the drain. The toilet was VERY LOUD could not flush it at night time, and it ran for a while. The bathroom door was very hard to close.
We waited until 6 am so we could have the breakfast that is offered to us. The clerk was nowhere to be found, several guest were upset. There was no breakfast offered. Could not even cook waffles as the waffle maker was not working. There was no fruits, or yogurts available like most other super 8 we have staid. I have never had a bad experience at a super 8. This one was a bad experience.
- Ana (10/5): Always stay here - Location, right along my path.
Good nights sleep. Price. Nice little grassy area in back for my dog. Nothing
- alison (2/5): - no smoke detector in room
- Jada (9/5): -
- Ira (9/5): - The room was a good size, comfortable bed. Being so close to the highway, we didn't hear any road noise. Can't really think of anything.
- Noel-Paul (6/5): -
- Linda (6/5): Would come back for bed but did not feel comfortable in the bathroom due to cleanliness. - Bed was amazing Not clean at all. There were crumbs around the bed and hair all over the bathroom.
- Kerry (6/5): - conveniently placed for my trip Could use some sprucing up
- James (7/5): - BREAKFAST WAS OK. NO FRESH FRUIT AVAILABLE. NO SEATING IN BREAKFAST AREA. TOOK IT BACK TO THE ROOM. NO FRESH FRUIT AVAILABLE FOR BREAKFAST. NO SEATING IN BREAKFAST AREA
- Randall (4/5): -
- Paul (6/5): - Bed was comfy Breakfast was without coffee or hot water or bread or a toaster or much else
- Jeffery L (7/5): -
- Lisa (2/5): Would have been fine if it was clean - Convenient Room wasn't clean. Food debris on floor, sink and toilet dirty.
- Hinshaw (6/5): - There is nobody in the office when I got there to check in

- Angela (2/5): Convenient location but that's about it! - My grandkids liked the breakfast waffles It wasn't a very nice kept hotel and no extra facilities like a pool or fitness center.I won't ever book a room here again but it did serve our purpose to have a bed to get some sleep for the night.
- Randy (7/5): Good value - Good location and good value Breakfast selection very small.
- Jason (8/5): -
- Maria (6/5): - I left very early, so no breakfast. The sheets were clean. The shower wasn’t working well. The toilet seat was loose. The sink faucet was loose and leaked. The floor had not been mopped, my clean white house shoes were black from the filthy floors. Read above.
- Ana (9/5): Pleasant, safe, great staff, clean. - We were very pleased with our stay.
Our goal was a safe, easy location, pet friendly, comfy bed. Everything else was a pleasant perk, such as; breakfast included, nice picnic area for dog to walk, room on first floor.
We will continue to book there & do refer others to do the same. None
- Fred (10/5): -
- Sophia (5/5): -
- Alex Fernando (9/5): Good Stay - comfortable bed. I found the stay expensive for what was offered.
- JackBrown91 (2/5): Run down hotel that's over priced for what it offers. Don't stay here, go to the Quality Inn. - Hotel is in poor shape, it needs extensive renovations. There were multiple issues I didn't realize until the next morning, we had a long drive and just needed a bed. Damage to ceiling, flooring, walls, etc. The room wasn't clean: the floor left our feet black, the shower had hair and soap scum on the walls, and there was dust/dirt etc. in the room corners and under furniture. The breakfast was 2 cereal options and waffles. There isn't anyone in staff from 2am to 2pm, so nobody to report issues to or restock anything. Go to the Quality Inn down the street and get a better room.
- O130QHwilliamb (8/5): Good stay - A decent one night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. I have stayed in all the other hotels in Clayton at one time or another. Other than the Ekland Hotel, the super eight is as nice as any other hotel in town. The continental breakfast is not quite as fulfilling as the others. But I’m just looking for a place to stay the night and this is clean and nice.
- Lee (2/5): A place to sleep and shower when you passing through. You get what you paid for - You get what you paid for Breakfast items waffle maker was broken and no hot coffee in the lobby. There were no staffs in the morning to help you.
- Brian (4/5): The bed is ok. That is all. Needs serious updating, and they need to think of their guests more. - Was a decent place to sleep. That is all. Coffee at the breakfast??!! First hotel ever with no coffee at breakfast, the host said the coffee maker is in your room. Wow. Such a simple thing to do for guests. Also, zero seating at the breakfast area. None. I guess you have to bring your waffle or cereal to your room??!! What a joke. It’s a place to get sleep that is it!
- Peter (9/5): -
- Salazar (5/5): - they ran out of milk and I couldn't find anyone to ask to refill it so I just left The breakfast
- Richardson (1/5): Didn't make it there - I bought cancellation ins but it wasn't honored. I got a late start from Colorado and had traffic problems . I called and was told they didn't honor it. See above

- comanche12018 (10/5): Super 8 Clayton, NM - Clean, recently renovated, quiet, comfortable. The staff was polite and professional. Plenty of parking. Restaurants in walking distance of motel. I left before breakfast was served so I can't comment on it.
- Charles (9/5): Good value, but breakfast needs a boiled egg or something. - Affordable, comfortable, good pillows, clean, had coffee in the room. Breakfast was a waffle and cereal. VERY disappointing. I was hoping for at least a boiled egg and toast. Still better than motel 6 which offers nothing for the same price, but i had to ping the rating for that since we still had to buy food elsewhere.
- Clark (3/5): Disappointed. - Location was fine and bed was clean. Floor was dirty, towels were stained and threadbare, dresser was taped together, bed was hard, fridge sounded like a baby dragon. I have photos.
- Eddie (6/5): -
- Timothy (8/5): -
- Yakub (8/5): -
- Kim Lott (10/5): - Convenient & good price.
- G Farley (8/5): - For the price, clean, very comfortable bed and pillows. Relatively quiet and easy access. Not much to the breakfast.
- Mohammed (4/5): - To be honest only the location! It was very dirty! From bed to floor to washrooms all were dirty with lot’s of loose hairs here and there! It was gross!
- Hyun (4/5): - traffic noise at night
- Vicki (9/5): -
- Jill (8/5): - Very simple and basic hotel but that’s expected with the price. Beds were comfortable and clean. Breakfast is very basic with cereal and waffles but no where to sit. Completely satisfied.
- Melissa (6/5): Thank you for letting us stay with our pup! - Very convienient placement! Bed was so comfy!! Breakfast was very scarce. No juice or coffee.
- janet (10/5): -
- Oscar (1/5): Bedbugs - Room has bedbugs. Room has bedbugs
- Karissa (10/5): - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My stay at the Super 8 was about what I expected for the price. The room was clean and comfortable, which made it a decent value. The water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water for showers, which I appreciated. Breakfast was simple—just waffles—but they were tasty and satisfying enough to start the day. Overall, nothing fancy but a solid, budget-friendly stay.
- Eduard (2/5): - Parking is easy
- Evette (2/5): - There was bed bugs they moved me to a difference room. I still cleaned it because it was not too clean. Towels were dirty and stained. The female at the desk was very kind. 2nd room was better and clean .
- Danuta (10/5): - Parking was easy, breakfast was limited and had no tables to sit and enjoy it
- Gabrielle (4/5): - Good parking area. 1 trash can for the whole room.
- Garcia (5/5): - The bed was comfortable and the towels smelled clean. There was plenty of lighting and the air conditioning worked great. The location wasn't the best.
No elevator
The rooms were not very clean. The floor was sticky, and there was stuff so over the floors in both rooms I looked at. When I was told it was an 86 year old woman that was cleaning, it made sense. I understand it's a small town.
- Maureen (2/5): - Very dirty place.
- Shelli (10/5): -
- Becky (2/5): - Toilet lid was broken. Bullet hole in window. No ice in ice maker. This was the absolute worst place I've ever stayed in.
- G.Rabalais (8/5): -
- Michael (5/5): - It was just ok Free breakfast sucked! Cook your own waffle and that's about it for $100 a nite? Not again!
- Marilyn (8/5): - Nice updated room.
Helpful staff
- Emily (4/5): Feces on the walls in the bathroom - Place is pretty run-down, but not a huge deal. The dealbreaker was literal feces on the walls of bathroom and the tub. Our best guess was that a toddler had a dirty rear end and backed up against the wall and the tub. Only problem there is that we shouldn't have been able to even guess - it was pretty disgusting.
- Elizabeth (8/5): -
- Steven (6/5): - Not at this time
- Leisha (6/5): - Rock hard pillows that are too thick.
- John (8/5): New mexico - Got in late but the clerk was very friendly, and knowledgeable. Clean smell and quite
- Steven (8/5): - Its in need of a facelift! The bathroom is very dated! Remodelling would be worth it!
- Remy (7/5): -
- Jason (7/5): -
- Mary (6/5): - The room and building definitely need some overall care and maintenance. Great little Mexican restaurant next door.

- Anthony (10/5): - Review: Average Stay with Room for Improvement
My recent stay at this hotel was decent but unremarkable. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable, which made for a satisfactory night’s sleep. Check-in was smooth, and the staff were polite, though not particularly attentive or proactive. However, the hotel lacked any standout amenities, and the overall atmosphere felt a bit dated. The breakfast selection was basic, with limited options that didn’t cater to varied tastes. While there were no major issues, there was nothing memorable or exceptional about the experience. It’s an okay choice for a short stay, but I’d explore other options for a more elevated experience.
- Chesser (9/5): I had an excellent stay - The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
- Sherry (4/5): - Most of the stay was pleasant. However, while I went out to dinner, it rained, and the window was not sealed, so it rained all inside the room. I had kenneled my dog inside the room and she was frightened. The staff gave me another room but did not offer a refund or discount.
- Andrew (4/5): - Dead bugs on the bathroom floor, toothpaste on the mirror, dirty surfaces
- Stephen (2/5): - I've stayed at a lot of Super 8's over the years. I've always enjoyed Super 8. But this place is the nastiest dirtiest hotel I've ever stayed at. It was well over a 100 bucks a night. I will never stay at this place again and seriously suggest you don't either. Just pay the extra money and stay at the Best Western or the Quality Inn right down the street. I swear on everything this is the nastiest place I have ever stayed. I got bit by something while I was asleep. It caused a large red bump on my arm. I have been treating it with cortisone and 91% rubbing alcohol. It has been leaking fluid out of it for the last 24 hours. Seriously stay away from the disgusting hotel. I guarantee they don't wash anything. The beds and rooms are disgusting. If you don't believe me ask to see a room. They simply just move a piece of furniture and look behind it. The hotel is disgusting and the health department should step in. This place is absolutely ridiculously filthy.
- LindaODell (8/5): Overnight stay - Nice place to stay overnight. We stayed 1 night. Dog friendly for our small dog.. room clean. Mostly quiet not crowded. Would like to had a few more breakfast choices in the refreshment area but the waffles were good. I would stay again if I am back in the area
- John (3/5): Poor -
- Bobby (2/5): Dirty. - Location wasn't bad. Parking lot was well-lit. They had a room when we really needed it. Sheets were one of the few clean things in the room. The place smelled really bad. The floor was filthy, and had hair and trash on the floor. In-room fridge and microwave were both broken. In room AC unit was in pieces, but it worked after I reassembled it. Floor lamp was grimy. Woke up to roaches climbing the north wall. We didn't stick around for breakfast for obvious reasons.
- Kenneth (10/5): - This was jus advertised enjoyed visiting with the owner and a tour of the property upon arrival . If you like historic places this is for you! Very comfortable we slept better here than anywhere on our trip. Will definitely stay here on our next trip!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - stay elsewhere
- Cecilia (6/5): - The room was ok and beds comfortable but attention to details is missing. All the corners were very dirty and it had exposed wires in the ceiling.
- Elmer (8/5): - There’s a Mexican restaurant next door, unfortunately it was closed when we arrived , but there was another two minutes away. The hotel was great for the price. No cofee machine was available in the morning.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Not safe doors open the cleaning person was very nice and my room was clean the area where there was breakfast was not clean at all worse place I have ever stayed
- David (5/5): Passable - Too many flies from the over flowing trash can by the entry door to check in.
- Jennifer (2/5): - The property is extremely run down. There were flies everywhere. I didnt feel unsafe but the facilities are bad. There is no staff at the front desk except from 2pm-2 am. The words I would use to describe it is sketchy and rundown. I wouldnt recommend staying here and I wont do it again.
- Kurt (6/5): - Hallway and stairs were gross, carpet held down with visible nails in places. Rooms were ok with tiny bathroom
- Joseph (10/5): - The TV would not come on. An employee did come up to the room and got it working, but when I turned it off, if would not come on again. Kind of irritating.
- Harold (4/5): - Not worth the price, staff did not have enough experience. Breakfast was a joke. Cereal all over the floor, no place to seat down. Had to go back to the room. No one there in the morning to check you out.
- Hannah (2/5): Gross - The room was filthy. The floor was unswept in our room and the hall carpet was disgustingly and unvacuumed. There was an old burrito in the microwave and the blankets had cigarette burns and the sheets were stained. It was gross actually.
- Shannon (6/5): - The staff was great and very helpful. They need to vacuum pretty bad. Also, I’ve been trying to contact the property at least three times as we think we forgot something. I cannot reach anyone as no one will answer. I left a voicemail and no response.
- Jason (6/5): - Bed room had bugs, windows were leaking bad from the rain.
- Kuldeep (5/5): Passable -
- Shyanne (8/5): Very good -
- Udit (3/5): Poor -
- Linda (9/5): Older hotel but very clean room - This hotel is an older hotel but very clean and a very comfortable bed. Not a full breakfast
- Brandy (2/5): - Do not stay here. It’s really gone down hill in the last 10 years. We often travel from Canada to Texas and have stayed here a few times. This place used to be good. I cannot express how dirty this place is. The halls have never been vacuumed, the floors inside the room are not swept, the tub was disgusting, super run down facility. Rust in the bathroom, tap broken, shower is from 1984, smelled horrible. Nothing nice to say. Sleep in your car!
