- Vinod (4/5): - Some of the lights did not work, the bathtub was dirty and bathroom light was too loud
- Mameche (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nattaisha (1/5): HORRIBLE! - NOTHING This hotel had bed bugs and roaches. My employees were unable to stay the week. They had bites everywhere. I need to request a refund.
- Peter (4/5): - I expected a sub par place for the price, but I specifically called and asked if there were sit down restaurants close by (walking distance) because I’d been driving for ten hours. He said yes, and then when we got here said they are a ten minute drive
- Annah (2/5): - The carpet in the room was disgustingly dirty. The sheets had multiple cigarette burns in them and ceiling was damaged and looked like it would fall in. I should have been prepared when the first thing I saw was a note hanging at the check in counter saying if you don't speak to the front counter within 15 minutes that you don’t like the room there will be no refund. I strongly recommend that no one stay at this hotel.
- Helena (4/5): Short - There was a door for cleaning that was supposed to lock from the inside but the chain was busted and anyone could have entered my room because before I left I pushed it open to see if it would open because there was no door handle from the inside and it did and it freaked me out so we checked out
- Mark (4/5): - I can deal with the old building and the outdated fixtures and whatnot, that what I expect when a place is crazy cheap. But the place just reeked of old cigarettes. That's too much even for a low maintenance person like me.
- Cadora (8/5): U get the best they can give. - The staff is perfect at the front desk. Very easy check in Everything was satisfactory
- Sagar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cadora (8/5): Will return often - The staff make sure to try n accommodate you. 👍☺️
- Kathleen (5/5): Place to rest your head for a night. - Close to highway Bed very uncomfortable there was a ton of mold in the bathroom and it was just not updated and literally rusty.
- Kelly (10/5): Great location and value - Perfect location to visit local hospital and medical facilities. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable, but a little outdated.
Check in was easy and friendly. Great value.
- Sagar (10/5): Super excited - Everything good Nothing is bad
- Marco (10/5): - Convenience
- Kenneth (1/5): Bad - Nothing Loaded with roaches
- Kim (6/5): Grim - Although the room was clean and the guy at the front desk was helpful, the building itself was in very poor condition. The exterior was dilapidated, dirty and littered with cigarette butts. Still it was quiet and I had a good sleep. But I could not recommend this hotel.
- Henry (2/5): - It was dirty and it had another door in my room that I didn't know where I went to and it had bugs cockroaches.
- EDWARD (4/5): - --
FIRST ROOM HAD A VERY BAD CIGUARETTE SMELL WAS TRADED FOR BETTER ROOM. NO SITING CHAIR IN ROOM BAD FOR ME. MANAGER GOOD BUT MOTEL IN NEED OF UPDATING .ALSO NO COFFEE OR BREAKFAST .
- Steven (10/5): - I like the convenience of this place. I work in town all week then drive home on the weekend. The price is good, the staff are nice. Im going to continue utilizing this place
- Saurabh (1/5): Bad -
- Jessica (2/5): - Moldy, roaches, dirty and everything is broken. Place should be condemned.
- Hugh (6/5): Adequate accommodation on short notice. Staff were pleasant and frirndly -
- Brad (6/5): - I did like the staff and the convenience and low price. The broken down shape and condition of everything did not keep me from getting sleep which is what I was there for. It suited my purposes and I hope in time the maintenance and working order of the rooms will get better and the condition of everything will improve. If I visit that area again I will look for the improvements.
- Nicole (1/5): horrible. - nothing roaches in room
- Taisha (1/5): Joe's Apartment will leave the lights on for you! - The location was within walking distance to a sheetz gas station where you can purchase food. It had roaches! The room smelled bad. There were burn holes in the blankets. Oh, did I forget? IT HAD ROACHES!
- Perez (1/5): Bad -
- Kara (2/5): Vile, Disgusting - This was the most disgusting and vile hotel room that we have ever had the displeasure of staying in. The floors were crumbling and falling apart. The room REEKED like a mix of dirt and cigarettes. The walls had stains and brown spots everywhere. Half of the outlets did not work. THERE WERE BUGS, BABY ROACHES AND ROACH FECES ALL OVER THE WALL. We did not even want to sleep in this room, but this establishment does not give you a refund unless you let them know within 15 minutes of check in. We slept with all of the lights on and did not even use the bathroom because of how disgusting it was. Every time you would turn the lights on you would just see bugs scattering.
- Carolyn (6/5): Good Enough - Owner is friendly, there's free wifi for one device, the air conditioning works exceptionally, there are good channels on the tv. Cheapest in the area. Despite booking for two people there was only one of everything (eg. One towel, one bar of soap). The room was tidy but not exactly clean. There was some trash under the bed. Too expensive for what it offers, especially when compared to other hotels in the area.
- Lagerman (1/5): Would never stay there again -
- Charles (5/5): Passable -
- Dorie (4/5): - Door in back of room staff can go through whenever they want
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Cruz (5/5): Passable - Most affordable in the area Cleanliness could use some work, for the price there should be more offered such as a coffee machine and more towels. The walls are very thin. There is a door that the owners can enter through at any time from the inside. There was one of everything despite having booked for two people.
- Smitty (1/5): Worst hotel in America. - Shut the building down condemn filthy Close Facility
- Martin (1/5): Awful. Will not stay there again. - Nothing. Everything. I felt cleaner before taking a shower in that bathroom. The sheets had stains all over them. Bugs crawling around. Mold in the bathroom, everywhere. The place was very run down. Definitely not worth the money I had to pay, just to be there for 6 hours.
- michael (2/5): - Scary old place was bad
- Dian (6/5): - I've been an on going customer but we were stuck with the last room and the air conditioner was out of order.it was super hot all night long.we had no choice but to deal with it . Staff was really kind and as helpful as they could be.
- Rose (5/5): Just Sleep - The facilities are rundown, but the cleaning team does their best to make it comfortable. Severe need for upgrade
- Mosley (1/5): Bad -
- David (10/5): - Very nice people. A great value! It will be my regular stay in Scranton PA
- Francesco (2/5): Very poor -
- scottwL5198FG (2/5): Traveling - This Place is a dump. I don't know where they got some of their reviews. Nothing has been done here for 40 or more years. Bathtub had cigarette burns on the edge of the tub and this was the nonsmokers room. No breakfast at all and won't eat there anyway. Cockroatchs were running up the wall in the morning. Put all bags and clothes in large bag to bring home, not bringing into my home.
DON'T STAY HERE
- Derek (10/5): - Good location, easy for one night stay
- LindaB3283 (2/5): Moldy Bathroom, Firm bed, Busy A/C - Pictures are worth a thousand words. First room smelled of cigarette smoke so we were given another. I have never seen so much mold in a bathroom ever!
Bed very firm, which we liked but others may not.
Noisy air conditioner.
- 885phillyd (2/5): Should be burned to the ground - This place was so bad that the check in was even a total screwup. This place is dirty, disgusting, filthy, there is no such thing as a non-smoking room here, every room has people smoking in them. I walked across the street to a restaurant when I came back and found cockroaches on my bed, I didn’t unload anything out of my vehicle, I just climbed back in my truck drove away, it was that bad. Avoid this place like the Black Plague, they should have everything closed down on them it is that disgusting.
- llangehr (2/5): Disgusting - This place should not be allowed to be in business. I think the health department should look into this place.
The only reason we had to go there was all the motels in the area were totally booked because of the holiday weekend.
- Clorisablank (2/5): Worst motel in America - Absolutely disgusting, mold in the bathroom tub, mold all over shower curtain, cockroaches making the room there own, holes all in the blankets, and the overall cleanliness was that if a pig. I talked to the manager and he pretty much said tough. He was very unprofessional and unethical. I couldn’t even bath my kids.
- jkperna428 (2/5): Disgusting, dirty hotel!!! - This hotel was filthy.... bugs, cigarette butts and garbage everywhere. Everything was stained and or burned, and the room smelled. Maintenance is non existent here akd the staff does nothing about the conditions.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was absolutely disgusting. That photo online looked nothing like the room nor can u smell the muskiness through a photo. I honestly think if we stayed there that me and my family would have been robbed bc ppl were staring at us through there windows. Bathroom was worse than a truck stop but the smell was honestly the worst thing. We actually walked in, left the room key on the TV and got another hotel out of that area. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN OPTION TO CHOOSE FROM.
- Bphilbrick (2/5): Bad just bad - Avoid this hotel
Room smelled like an ashtray (non-smoking room)
Hairdryer not connected, chord was completely cut
Room was repainted but paint in tub was directly over dirt/hair
Found stains and dorito crumbs in sheets so beds were made without washing linens
Walls, floors, and tub was dirty.
People living here on first floor that are always outside
Found hairs and dirt in "clean towels"
Manager tried to charge me at check in after our room was pre-payed through a travel site.
- I3939CHanng (2/5): Disgusting - Disgusting hotel room smelled like old cigarettes ceiling tiles had holes that we had to plug up as it was midnight after a long day of travel. Slept 3 hours if even worried about the filth and what it contained when the lights were out. Over the vanity had a dark brown panel that was drooping and soaked, the bathroom gross with a toilet that Sits so low you squat to pee. Not that we sat on the seat it was gross. The hotels these sights share should be inspected because this should be condemned and made to make whole! With think twice before using any site to book. Pictures are deceiving. My brother in law moved the bed to get something he dropped and the box spring to their bed was disgusting looked like a puddle of old blood at the top where they slept. Gross is mild!! I used priceline on the road.. I added the pictures but they aren't loading into the site.
- Richga (2/5): The Pits - We stayed in a Rodeway motel in Horseheads NY that was charming so figured we'd give this one a shot as our favorite hotels in the area were booked solid for Memorial Day weekend. We understand Rodeway is a budget motel and the price was cheap. Still one has to meet some minimum standards in the motel business which this one does not. We booked non-smoking rooms and were immediately struck by the thick odor of stale cigarettes as we walked in. It was like living in an ashtray. There were cigarette burns on the thin sheets. Really?? You can't be bothered to buy some new sheets?? The smoke detector was discolored by yellow stains. The bathtub and toilet were stained - how much does it take to replace a toilet seat?? The shower head was too low. There was an old container of ice cream in the freezer. Does anyone in this place check? Do they care? There were holes in the curtains. The faucet in the sink stopped working and the washcloth was stained yellow....Well, you get the picture. Maybe they stay in business by housing the homeless and indigent but the homeless and indigent deserve better and you do too. This place needs a total upgrade but demolition might be a better solution. It does not meet the standards we expect to find in the Choice Hotel brands.
- You (2/5): - I took pictures of everything and intend to Perdue legal action
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I was surprised by the ok reviews considering the cost of rooms but I thought why not it’s only for one night , I’ll give it a shot! It was immediately evident to me why these rooms are 50 bucks as soon as I unlocked the door and walked in , there was mold on the curtains & windows,it smelt like an ashtray (in a NON smoking room) there was filth in every corner , the vanity light was broken the bathroom had a film of slime an inch thick on the floor so much so I slid in my flip flops , the tub was covered in burn marks from ppl leaving cigarettes on the edge , the toilet seat was half hanging on stained & worn but the best part was walking out of the bathroom I shut the light off but notice a light coming through the HOLE in another door in the room so I bent down to look and could see clear through it to the fax machine in the OFFICE!!! Horrified I climbed into bed only to be kept up all night by the cars racing sirens going off and other guest fighting!!! This place should be condemned!! Never again!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty Room - The room was filled with dust and hair of previous guests. The sheets smelled like cigarettes as if they didn’t wash the sheets and just made the beds with the same linens that the last guest used. The pillows were extremely flat. I was so disgusted with the room that I put my jacket over the pillow and used that as my pillowcase.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn’t like anything about that property .Very dirty place
- Verified traveler (2/5): - bed not made properly, tub needs redo, no note as to phone office , street number not seen from street, not much choice for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Right by local restaurants, grocery stores, free parking
- REVJCF (2/5): Rodeway Inn Dunmore PA (Choice Hotels Group), formerly Scottish Inns is HORRID - This is the ABSOLUTE worst hotel that I have ever stayed in! Some booking engines do not recognize this Rodeway Inn and shift to Moosic, PA. Disregard any property amenity info listed for "Scottish Inn". I pre-paid, otherwise would not have stayed for 2 nights; would have walked away if with family. This is a tawdry property more suited to hourly rates on weekends. I do about 20 hotel nights/year, usually Hilton or Marriott branded properties. This was my first Choice Hotel property in quite a few years. I chose this low-budget motel for proximity to my mountain cabin which has no water/heat this time of year (March 2019). I changed rooms 3x to settle on one with working heat and limited cigarette smell. There are no non-smoking rooms. All 3 rooms were dirty, hair on vanity, no sink stoppers, cigarette burns on vanity/tub. Burn holes in some blankets. Broken door frames & dented steel entry doors. Did not receive housekeeping services. No dringing cups provided in rooms. "Continental Breakfast" consisted of a twin-pack of blueberry muffins & cold coffee from a thermos; no sugar/creamer, only Sweet & Low. Desk person (only employee???) is accommodating but has very poor English comprehension skills.
POSITIVES: Great WiFi and sufficient hot water/water pressure. Varying size friges & microwaves in rooms. "You get what you pay for" but I expected at least minimum standards from a branded property.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was run down. Sheets had cigarette burns and stains. Wallpaper off the walls. Sink didn’t work. Half the towels were there and no toilet paper or tissues at all!
- Sarah (4/5): Highly recommend to not stay at this dump - The hotel itself looked fairly decent on Hotels.com but when we got there it looked like a run down dump. Checking in was a slight pain because the guy in the lobby didn't seem organized at all. We got our room and immediately had complaints, the bathtub and sink were dirty, the floor was dirty and I didn't get the room I had prepaid for online. As we left the room to go to the front desk, my fiance and I noticed there were rusty screws laying all over the parking lot.
I went back to the front desk while my fiance stayed with our son in the car, i got into an argument with the man at the front desk telling this isn't what I paid for and the room was dirty. A few minutes later things get situated and we get a room. Obviously we had put some of our belongings into the room then we went out for dinner. Well when we came back, the door was locked from the inside and our key was deactivated. We went back to the front desk and told the man we couldn't get in and we got into a huge argument saying we never checked in, then it turned into we checked out when we left for dinner. I had explained to him several times our door was locked from the inside which prevented us from getting into the room..... my 2 year old sons diapers were locked inside that room. He activated a new key for us and it still didn't work. So my fiance went up to the front desk next and after a nice long talk we finally got into the room. Horrible service, horrible management, overall rude and unprofessional!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Oh my God. What a dump. The toilet over flowed.couldnt even take a pee . And cockroaches everywhereWater everywhere
- 841rachaels (4/5): Families or women staying alone....may want to steer clear - Ok...so if your really looking to save or if you are traveling without kids this may fit your needs.
The woman at the desk was super nice but when I pulled into the lot I got pretty nervous about staying there with the kids. This place obviously serves as long term rental to some who are work assignments in the area or have little income. With that being said, the residents (during the day) were also very nice.
The rooms were very worn down and dirty (but surprisingly, no roaches that I saw.) The beds had hair inside the covers and stains/holes on sheets which made me question the cleanliness. No soap or shampoo was provided so bring your own.
Once we returned in the evening the people loitering outside were very "shady" characters. However, overall most of the noise was drowned out by the AC unit so we slept fairly well. Surprisingly, the 4 ATV's we left outside chained to the trailer were not stolen either. Check out went smooth and quick.
- tysonb852 (8/5): Okay - It was a decent priced inn. They offered room service every day and it was inexpensive. Staff is nice and helpful. It is a good place to stay if you are in Scranton for an event and need a cheap place to stay near the center but don't want to pay the higher Scranton prices. Rooms were okay. could use some updating but the staff is working on making things better and it shows.
- Kay2go2 (2/5): we were itchy all night long - we just moved back to PA from AZ we stayed here for one night with our two children....NEVER AGAIN! children riding bikes in the parking lot, people sitting on the stairs all hours of the nights and we have bug bites all over our legs and torso! Seems fleas were in our room and we do not have any pets or any problems with any other hotels that we stayed at! Half the channels did not come in
- cat (6/5): ok for the price paid - It was ok for what we paid, but I asked for a microwave and refrigerator when I booked with expedia the person I booked with said yes ,we could have a microwave and refrigerator when we got there they gave us a room without the microwave and refrigerator. I brought a few things to put in the refrigerator we had to eat them right away. We had to ask for everything like toilet paper. We really liked the little snack bar for breakfast.
- AbhishekT820 (10/5): awesome service with great facilities - i Stayed in august 17 2012.. Really guys i was surprised with getting internet download speed of 24.66mbps and the bedrooms was so clean and hygienic i have no words to describe....
The guy on the desk was so friendly he firstly showed up the room and it didn't took a second to decide me to stay here. the price was cheaper as compared to other hotels in the area.it was a great experience to stay here.
- DottyM175 (10/5): Secure and Quiet Stay - On a 3 night stay over, I found peace and quiet and warmly courteous staff. A safe place for women and family and close to North Eastern PA Medical facilities for those needing ease of travel. Comfortable room with good temperature control and good housekeeping. Highly recommended for those concerned with safety, safe parking of vehicles and level entry and exit to facilities, especially for those with health or mobility concerns. Enjoyed my stay. Will come again.
- GregB15 (2/5): Bad place to stay - Switched rooms because all the lights were burned out in the room and the staff couldn't change a light bulb. Old mattress are thrown on the side of the building and have been there for quite some time. Shower head was chest high. Bathroom door wouldn't close. Smoke alarm missing in the first room and hanging in the second room by it's wires. Old food and bugs on the floor and the carpeting was stained in quite a few places. Indian run and disgusting. Contential breakfast was never put out and frankly I would let my worst enemies dog eat from it. Shady group of patrons. Didn't feel safe in the back of the building.
The furniture was the only good thing as it was in pretty good condition.
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK for one night - Was basically clean and served the purpose for a one night stay, but upkeep of the building was nil.
- Ashley245 (8/5): Very economic and good stay - I liked my stay with my husband. We stopped on our way to NYC and had no problems. Called in and they had rooms for a good price. Check in was quick. We crashed right away. The hotel manager gave us water bottles while we were leaving and also was nice to us at all times. We will recommend this place to others.
- Guest (10/5): Comfortable and pleasant stay for the price I paid - No issues at all. Got a jackpot deal for crashing at night. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, fresh sets of linen in room and that's all I needed to look at before I had to pay. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick night stop on way.
- sparmonic (2/5): Never again. - Don't get me wrong, I'm probably one of few people who have no problem spending as little money as possible for a night or two in a cheap motel (as long as it's clean). So when I headed over to Scottish Inns for the weekend with my fiancee and 5 month old son, I wasn't expecting 4 star service. But I was NOT expecting, what I consider, my worst experience EVER at a motel.
The owner is one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. This man charged us for 2 nights stay of $160 (even though we were quoted less over the phone). He claimed he had to increase our charge because the place was booked and there were only 2 rooms left. We get to the motel, and aside from one other couple, the entire place is vacant. After only being in the motel room for about 10 minutes, we ask for a refund as Hurricane Irene was headed that way, and we wanted to relocate North. Keep in mind, the room hasn't been touched. The owner refuses the refund. In fact, he was so upset that we'd even dare ask for a refund, that he demanded I return my room key, kicked me off the premises, refused to give me his name, and STILL didn't give me my money back! I wanted to call the police, but had to be in upstate New York a few hours later. What a scam artist! I was charged for a room where my key was confiscated, that I wasn't even allowed to stay in, simply because I asked if I could get a refund! The owner just kept insisting "if you want a refund, call your credit card company!" What a jerk, and as I said, worst motel experience I've ever had! This man doesn't deserve anyone's business!
- soso88_11 (2/5): Terrible - Hubby is a Truck Driver and when he comes in town we gwt a Motel.. All motels were filled up. So we went to The Scottish Inn in Dunmore. Carpets were filthy, bed was very hard, coffee maker no coffee, no tissue box, no bath mat for the floor, no mat for tub.. A dirt ring around the bottom of the tub...We went out for the Day left on AC and came back it had been turned off and I had an Asthma Attack due to very hot room melted A candy bar to liquid. Went to Manager and he said that maybe the New Maid forgot and turned it off and that usually they are left on when occupied. and he would talk to the maid next day! So this was bad 2 days with my Hubby!!! Never will go there again.
- Patrici (8/5): Thet need an ICE MACHINE that works. - In the hotel room, the lamp on the wall, near the mirror, had no light bulb.
The lamp shade on one of the lamps near the beds was torn.
The ice machine didn't work.
Their rates are very reasonable.
The man who was working, Jay, was very polite, respectful, and accommodat-
ing!
- Robert (4/5): NOT IMPRESSED - I expected to receive less comfort and service as we were choosing a lower priced motel. I did however, expect the room heater to work and to have functioning lights in the room. Also, the advertised complimentary breakfast but had a broken coffee machine, a partially dismantled juice machine and cold cereal with soured milk - not our idea of breakfast.
- Raj (2/5): worst experience - worst experience will never stay at that place, management was bad too.
