Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): Nice city to visit in September. - First time visiting San Diego for a getaway trip on our Anniversary week. Enjoyed our stay and the weather turned out very good. Older brick building that used to be an apartment complex. Very nice rooms w/ full kitchen and in great condition. We only spent two nights here, since we were on our way up the coast on our trip. Lots of things to do near the hotel.Ask about the city trolley tours.Enjoyed the on and off tour of old San Diego and waterfront.
- Salma (8/5): - The property was lovely and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming.
The location of the property was also good, close to most attractions.
Unfortunately, around the property there were too many homeless people, leaving us slightly uncomfortable when walking in the evenings.
- JANICE (10/5): - Downtown and convenient to everything. Very close to the zoo
- Alejandra (8/5): Good prices and centrally located - The hotel was centrally located, close to many restaurants. Within walkable distance to downtown and Petco park, the bay, USS Midway Museum and Balboa Park. Room was very spacious, it included a kitchen and full size fridge, dishes, pots and pans, silverware and even dish soap and a sponge. The only negatives I found were lack of parking space (had to park off street and there was barely any spaces available). I had to park a block away and pay $8 for every 12 hours of parking. They also didn't have a pool nor did they offer breakfast. The rooftop terrace had an amazing view and they even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine (we were there on our honeymoon).
- Patrick (10/5): - Great property, very clean and staff is extremely polite and attentive!
- Rebecca (10/5): - It was a pleasant stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Overall it was very nice accomodations in every aspect. The only complaint was having only one elevator available in each of the two elevators banks it took to get to our room.
- Kevin (8/5): - Very clean and nice hotel. But about 3-4 blocks closer to downtown and the area around it would have been significantly nicer
- Cornel (8/5): - We had to book our stay in a rush as we had been scammed on an apartment down the road booked through a different company (not Hotels.Com)
The booking was made and reservation confirmed online and we arrived at the Worldmark 20mins later.
Firstly as we arrived we discovered although they have a car park it costs $25 a night and its valet parking only.. you have no choice in this apart from parking on the street.. dont do this.. unfortunately the area as alot of homeless and undesirable sketchy people in it.. I just wish the property/Hotels.com would make the parking charge clear in the listing.
Secondly when checking in it took way to long.. nearly 30mins because the reservation wasnt showing and they had to phone a 3rd party to get the imformation.. they gave the wrong details to the desk staff even though all info and check in/out dates were clearly on my phone.. it wasnt good.. we had already had a stressful day.. incurred $75 of additional unexpected costs on top off the not inexpensive cost of the hotel.. Please get together and sort it out.. be more transparent online about your costs.
The good stuff... the staff are really nice and helpful.. the hotel is not much to look at outside but really nice inside.. our suite was very clean.. spacious and well equipt.. it did suffer abit with outside noise at night.. they have a really nice rooftop terrace we used all 3 nights to relax and have a drink.
Nice hotel.. sketchy neighbourhood.
- Alejandra (6/5): - Well priced for location
- William (8/5): Stay a worldmark - Staff was great, area around is not the best. Room was comfortable and spacious. Parking is extra and so is wifi
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No restaurant, no maid service, $25.00/day parking. Not a hotel but a Wyndham time share. Very disappointed in hotels.com.
- Iliana (4/5): NOT A PLACE FOR AN INTROVERT - After you get checked in youll get passed to another station/person asking what your plans are and how they can help etc, its a timeshare property so im sure you can fill in the blanks of what thats like. We got to the room and discovered they gave us a queen/full size bed instead of the king I had reserved, it was annoying but not worth the hassle of following up as we didnt have an extra 20 mins to deal with it and needed to get over to sea world. They have 1 elevator for the whole place so if youre pressed for time be prepared to use the stairs
- Joel (10/5): - The hotel had an old world charm, very 1920's Art Deco style. However the rooms were modern with lots of amenities, like a full kitchen in the standard studio room. Also a sofa/bed. The room on the 4th floor was quiet although there was considerable traffic in the area. There was a large rooftop space with great views of San Diego. You could also grill or barbecue. Overall, a wonderful experience staying in this hotel that I highly recommend. Sorry, no pool but it does have a small fitness center.
- Pamela (10/5): - This hotel had the most beautiful rooftop patio with bbq's, a sink area, loungers, tables and umbrellas, beautiful plants and cute lights at night. It was a 15-20min walk to the waterfront and about a 10min walk to 5th Avenue where there were tons of places to eat. Staff went above and beyond being friendly and efficient and helpful. I would definitely come back again!
- Mindy (10/5): - Walkable to all the wonderful areas of San Diego but lots of homeless. Not unsafe just dirty.
- Sonia (8/5): Weird hotal - Kind of strange place, charged for wifi but provided a bunch of random free crap i didnt want. Refused to clean the room during the stay (??)
- Guadalupe (10/5): - Everything with our stay was nothing short of amazing! The check in staff was awesome as well as the valet. Bed was super comfy and the room was so adorable and perfect! High recommended will stay here again!
- Sienna (2/5): - Worst hotel experience of my life. Horrible location, very unsafe for women to walk at night. Constantly harassed by the concierge to attend their scam timeshare presentation, then ROBBED by the cleaning staff for my jewelry (hotel does not provide safes). Missed my flight and had to stay in San Diego an extra night to file the police report and talk to hotel management about the theft, staff promised me I would be reimbursed. Claim filed through hotels insurance, but because the staff denied the theft I am left screwed. Will never EVER stay at a worldmark / Wyndham again. Never had a worse experience at a hotel. Never experienced such unhelpful staff.
- Anastasia (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It is right next to the airport so you do hear planes flying around and because it is the city you will see a lot of homeless. Room was very spacious and great for a long term stay.
- Tayea (10/5): - The staff here was so amazing !! Very helpful offered touring and restaurant suggestions, always friendly. Josh was super helpful. Thank you to all the staff
- Christine K (6/5): - Not located in the best area.
- Steven (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay with rooftop views of the city.
- Kelly (8/5): - Big room, close to Balboa park, lovely staff. Some usual hotel amenities were not provided, for example there was no lotion in the bathroom and only a shampoo/conditioner combo was provided.
- Ann (8/5): - The room was a bit dated and although the property is supposed to be non-smoking, the room had the lingering smell of smoke. I had an allergic reaction that lasted my entire stay and the only thing I can think of was the "left over" smoke. It would improve during the day when out of the room, then flare up within minutes of re-entering the room.
Listing says there is wifi, so I assumed it was free. It was not.
- Christopher (10/5): - A great stay, staff was amazing
- Johnita (10/5): - This property was beautiful and had a kitchenette which really helped as I was visiting for an extended time. The concierge and front desk staff were ao accommodating and provided amazing advice and recommendations. The valet staff was so helpful and made sure guests safely got rides or on the road. The property was a little further out than i thought, but was still close enough to explore downtown on foot.
- Joseph Anibal (10/5): - I love this property and I highly recommend
- Bradley (10/5): - It was nice to be welcomed at the front desk with all kinds of helpful tips. Was not impressed that we were shuffled over to another hotel for a 'hidden time share' spiel ... we were told that it was NOT but it was ..
I found the location was pretty good right next to Balboa park .. the manditory Valet service was good and only 20 per night for well lit secure parking ..
The room upgrade was superb .. due to staffing shortages, there was no daily housecleaning but that's getting to be the norm these days. Had a great tiime overall. Recommend this place
- Zulay (6/5): - The location of the property is excellent. It has many facilities nearby: walking, eating, shopping. The staff is very friendly and inside the hotel the facilities are in good condition: gym, laundry. What we did not like was the air conditioning, it was turned off too regularly and the room was not kept comfortable.
- Anthony (8/5): Thanks for the stay! - A great stay! Conveniently near one of the on-ramps to free freeways to get around the city. The room looked well maintained (minus the too-short timer on the bathroom light). The studio room was also kitchen stocked with what is needed to do your own cooking. Valet parking was also reasonable and we went on and out several times a day with no issues.
We had a personal incident at the hotel but the staff was a great help in resolving the issue less than 24hrs.
- Maureen (10/5): - Great place to stay near downtown!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Thumbs up - The stay was great, location of the hotel is slightly undesirable, hotel staff are very pushy with getting you to attend their timeshare presentation but the perk of attending is a free week at one of their locations within a year. Hotel room is spacious and updated.
- Stephen (10/5): very nice hotel. - So it was an amazing stay. Pros- room was big and comfy.
free movie rentals. dvds in room. Free laundry machines we could schedule and use. Could also check out games. And had a game room with pool table and foos ball. Had a roof top deck with lights and seating which was my favorite. Had grills to barbecue. We totally took advantage of that. We also got offered ride circuit that takes u anywhere u want for free. So I used it twice to go to the grocery store and cooked in my room.
Cons- No pool...was really sad no pool. And no parking so u have to pay valet 20.00 a night for parking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice place - The hotel and room were clean and ready on time. The front desk staff was very helpful and provided great service. The roof top views were great. I would stay here again in the future.
- Dolly Jo (4/5): - Had to take my daughter to a doctor appointment at Radys children’s hospital so quickly booked on Expedia not knowing anything about the property. We got there after dark and there were homeless people walking around everywhere. I did not want to take my daughter there & there wasn’t a garage. So I emailed and messaged the email on my confirmation email but the hotel told me to contact the source of my booking. No one replied so I found a hotel that felt safe for me & my daughter. The next day I was able to contact Expedia where they contacted the hotel. They told me because I was a “no show” they wouldn’t give me any money back. I told them my situation but they didn’t care. I would’ve even understood about not giving money back for the one night but there is no excuse for not giving back for the second night. Very disappointing. Will not be referring or ever using a Worldmark again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although, it was an aged property everything was clean and all the employees were exceptional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked everything about that hotel. The staff was nice. It is clean and the roof top is amazing. We spent most of are time up there
- Patricia (10/5): - Everything you need is there! Staff was amazing, they were very knowledgeable and helpful.
- Susan (10/5): Great friendly hotel ! - Staff are so helpful and nice at this hotel & very hard working. Went on a hot busy weekend and they found ways to always accommodate. Can’t wait to come back
- Cameron (10/5): Amazing views. - The room was clean and spacious. It had all the modern amenities you would expect. The staff from the person who greeted us at our vehicle to the person that brought us extra towels were amazing. But what you really need to see is the Downtown San Diego skyline from the Roof Top Deck. We spent hours each night up there. Breathtaking and still private and relaxing.
- Katrina Marie (10/5): Great - I had a good hotel stay. Great location. Parking may be issue, it you don't want to pay.
- JOSE (8/5): - the property is great; however, the windows and walls are too thin and much noise seeps in. The terrace has a great view of downtown and the Coronado bridge. The only guaranteed parking is valet. Street parking and private for pay parking are available. It is within walking distance to Balboa Park. Be prepared to be invited to their ownership presentation of about 2 hours. In exchange for your attendance, they give you gift cards and other gifts. The presentation is quite educational. All in all, we had fun and it was a pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location and terrace are the only best things here. Parking costs $30 per day, no breakfast available, no housekeeping (they only pick your garbage bag once a day). Carpet, sofa covers were so durty. Elevator was dated and runs very slow. No free wifi. Paid wifi was available but provided by some outside company and hotel staff had no idea about the speed of that wifi.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Our only complaint was that being on the 5 th floor
The roof deck above got noisy at times as some children were unattended running around up there and in the halls for the 3rd & 4th day of our 7 day visit.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This property is a timeshare!!!
They charge $30 per night for parking aka more than the rental car costs per day BUT if you attend their timeshare presentation they’ll let you park free for 3 nights but wait, my managers not here so I’ll let you park for all 4 nights. Then you get to your room and they charge you for WiFi too! Very frustrating being nickeled and dimed after paying $170+ per night. We did not attend a timeshare meeting and successfully found steeet parking but it comes with lots of restrictions - no more than 2 hours between 8-6p and no parking M/W/F from 3-6a for street cleaning.
The hotel was fine and room was nice. Elevator is scary and has a sign in it about how old it is and to be nice to it...
- Carl (2/5): A nasty surprise - We were highly disappointed with our stay at this property. It is not a hotel it is a time share facility and during our stay we were prayed on and coersed into attending a 90min (minimum but could be up to 2 hrs) presentation. The presentation was like being spoken to like a 5 year old and the promised free breakfast was terrible. No one once explained to us that we were attending a time share property or that they would try and sell to us. We were left feeling utterly scammed and taken advantage of. For a 2 night stay, it totally ruined our experience. The facilities themselves at the accomadation is vast but that is because it is not a hotel! It is a time share unit. Parking at the place is a whooping $30 a night! San Diego is nice but don't stay here you'll get conned and will have to deal with alot of unpleasantness. Tucker at the concierge desk is a villain! Please please avoid!
- Carlos (8/5): Great stay at the Worldmark - Location was great. Central to highways/airport and short ride to Gaslamp district. Staff did not hound us for a seminar and treated us well. One thing, they do not clan your room or give you towels. You have to ask
- Isaac (10/5): Great San Diego Vacation, Great Residence! - This was a family vacation to the San Diego Zoo and the beach. This place is centrally located to most everything we cared about! Five minutes to the zoo, 12 minutes to Mission Beach, 10 minutes to Coronado, close to dining and shopping downtown, and free transportation around downtown using "The Free Ride" app.
We would love to come back here!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This was a last minute booking for my family of four for a weekend trip to San Diego. The rooftop of this property is definitely it's best aspect. The room itself was nice, clean, and had everything we needed in the kitchen in terms of dishware & pots/pans. Very close to Balboa Park and very short drive to places you want to go in the city; didn't feel comfortable walking around the area to be honest. Negatives include that 1) you need to pay $5 per day (which only covers 2 devices) for wifi (it's 2018 and for this price of staying here it really should be included), 2) parking is valet only and costs $30 - during more than one occasional it would have been much similar for us to just go to our car instead of waiting for the parking attendant. On one occasion he was inside chatting with another staff member and we needed to go find him after waiting directly outside for 5 minutes, the parking lot is right there and we could have walked to the car and left without irritation in the same amount of time. But, we opted to park on site because the area directly around the property is a bit sketchy. And 3) lots of street traffic you can hear at night, so if you're not used to sleeping in a city environment be aware. Read reviews about how pushy the staff were about timeshare marketing, but we were generally about to avoid this. Staff was overall friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Stay elsewhere - The location was awful. It is right where two highways meet so there was non-stop traffic noise. You cannot walk to any food other than McDonalds. There is a homeless encampment in a vacant lot across the street. The room itself was fine but the hotel is not properly managed. The gym was terrible— one machine and not a single free weight. The rooftop patio was overrun by bad kids running around on the roof, causing a huge commotion; one woman came to talk to the kids’ father and the kid literally punched her. Hotel staff should have intervened and handled the situation but did not. This place is not worth the money.
- Elora (6/5): A bit frustrating - Everything was great except Hotel.com booked our two night stay as separate reservations. We had to check out after the first night stay and have the hotel hold our luggage until check in the second night stay. A bit frustrating having to repack.
- Ryan (10/5): - Central to a lot of tourist destinations, quick access to the freeway and downtown. Rooftop terrace is beautiful. Clean room, comfy bed. Road noise at times is noticeable. All in all a great place to stay, would consider staying here again if i was in the area.
