Guest Reviews
- Ann (6/5): - Lovely views of roseberry topping. Good location for walkers. Road quite busy at front of property. Staff very friendly.
Had ground floor room, cld hear upstairs guest clomping around!
- Joseph (10/5): - Beautiful and picturesque. The need is to have portable A.C units for when it gets super hot.
- Kulvinder (10/5): Lovely stay! - Lovely stay as always! I stay here whenever I’m in the area for work as the staff are lovely and food is always good. Room is well kept and everything you need
- Alicia (6/5): - Food very bland. Only 1 gluten free option. Service slow. Room boiling hot and no way to turn bathroom radiator off. TV small & slanted. Breakfast was like a canteen. Dirty tables not cleared away which had to sit on as none were clean. No glasses to have juice. No fruit salad left. Only 1 man serving so service very slow. Won’t visit again.
- Julie (10/5): Perfect - Lovely food & great staff
- KENNETH (10/5): Kings head inn recent stay- recommended - Friendly staff, really good food, nice atmosphere.
- anton (10/5): Excellent - Fantastic place and service! Amazing location, food, and service. Stayed for a night and wouod recommend to anyone
- Bernadette (10/5): - Lovely hotel situated in a very picturesque setting. Very friendly staff and excellent food in the restaurant.
- Christian (10/5): 5 star - Lovely family room in a beautiful old cottage, which was warm and cosy. Pub food was great and location perfect and beautiful.
- Stephen (10/5): Charming hotel in a great location - Lovely charming hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast and overall service was fantastic as it always is at the Inn Collection Group of hotels ( this was our 8th stay in one of their hotels). The only negative at this hotel was the windows in our bedroom and bathroom were very draughty (it’s an old building) and more noticeable as it was very windy outside. The windows could do with some secondary glazing/insulation.
- John (10/5): - Great service good food and the team are alsways so helpful graet quiet stay everh time
- Derek (10/5): Highly Recommended - Highly recommended, a very good location, a clean and comfortable room, good food both dinner and breakfast, very friendly service throughout in a typical British country pub.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful Surroundings, Good Country Inn - Beautiful surroundings in a sweet country pub. Food was homemade with a range of selection.
Room was quiet and had all amenities needed.
Breakfast service in just a two hour window, could have been longer.
Great location just outside of Middlesbrough just a 10 minute journey into centre.
Plentiful walk options in immediate area.
- Philip (8/5): - Great stay thanks
- Ian (8/5): - Ideal location for walking up Roseberry Topping and other N. Y Moors attractions
- Graham (4/5): - Very disappointing.
We booked an allegedly Superior Room (room 2).
It is a converted conservatory. The roof is glass, covered by ill-fitting blinds, so the room is constantly lit by the outside lights at night - the large car park floodlights were on all night, as were the footpath lights. it is also noisy when it rains, as it is a glass roof.
The room is also noisy as it is right next to the front door, with people coming back to rooms from the pub, and on our second morning the deli delivery man arrived at 7.00am whistling and banging as he made his delivery to the pub.
The electrics in the room were potentially very dangerous, as the bedroom light sockets were falling apart!! Neither bedside lamps were functional, but you could move around the room ok at night because it was well enough lit from the car park supertrooper lights!
The shower had a lot of black mould round the base...
Not a great experience I'm afraid.
- Robert and Anne (10/5): - Beautiful bar, restaurant and rooms. Nothing to fault, can highly recommend
- Joanne (10/5): - Superb.
- John (10/5): - Nice rooms. Lovely restaurant
- Rex (6/5): - No WiFi or o2 signal , with the exception of one member of staff everyone was just doing their job no more no less ,rats around the accommodation, outside when i saw them .
- Graham (10/5): - Nice welcome from the staff, nice comfortable room and bed, excellent food would stay again.
- L G (10/5): Great in every way - Accommodation was lovely, very comfy bed.
Tasty food, very friendly service.
Would definitely recommend.
- Jon (10/5): - The staff were friendly and the room was spacious and clean with tea, coffee and biscuits.
- Tris (10/5): - I think that overall my stay was excellent value. I wish the mattress wasn't quite so firm and that the pillows were more like my own (latex) but this is impossible to cater for. Food also excellent.
- Tracey (6/5): Great if you want to get away from t'internet - Lovely country location and busy pub with good range of food including game. Chain rather than individually run. Minimal or no wifi, especially in the bedrooms. Good breakfast. Bedroom in the conservatory very cold which meant the bed felt damp so avoid if possible. Plenty of hot water in the morning though.
- Martin (10/5): A little gem.. - Really nice and welcoming.
I have business in this location and will book again.
Food good value and equally nice excellent breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.
- Harry (6/5): - With limited mobility we were in upstairs room with long access corridor.
bathroom mirror and wash basin were too high for 5ft 2in person and wardrobe space was inadequate
- Chris (8/5): - A very pleasant overnight stay
- Trevor (8/5): Reasonable hotel with good staff - One night stay which was fairly expensive for a small room. The toilet was difficult to flush and the sink plug did not fit. Staff was good and breakfast had a wide choice made to order; dinner also had a variety of interesting choices. The entrance to the car park was very narrow and on a busy road. Hotel had charm and was historic though, its situation was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Loved it - A lovely place in a quiet location
- Alison (10/5): - The inn and accommodation block are well planned out and very well maintained to a modern standard. The evening and breakfast menu offer a local twist to familiar dishes.
Roseberry Topping Hill just behind the pub must be conquered. The route is a challenge but the view is amazing.
- Andy (10/5): - Nice, quiet and friendly place to stay, scenic backdrop to the three key elements that count, Good food, Good Service and Good accommodation.
- Bijan (10/5): - Its an amazing property and the room available for families was large. Staff is warm and friendly and food great
- James (10/5): - Nice comfy room. Excellent breakfast. Would stay again.
- Tim (6/5): Recent stay - Friendly staff but bedroom very dated and food was bland
- Gemma (10/5): A Great Stay - What a great stay at the Kings Head. The room was lovely with a four poster bed, very clean and comfortable. It is dog friendly, and Lottie our Dandie Dinmont was very well looked after by the amazing staff in the bar, she was even treated to her own breakfast! Would highly recommend.
- Antony (10/5): - Smashing staff superb location good food dog and family friendly
Ideal for Yorkshire coast and moors
- Bill (6/5): - It's very convenient for exploration of Roseberry Topping, though the staff were unsure of the time it would take to climb it
- Verified traveler (10/5): Superb - Very nice clean comfortable room
Very nice polite helpful staff
Good food I highly recommend you won’t be disappointed it is in my list of personal favourites to stay now
- Christopher (8/5): Lovely views - Room was lovely.but wi fo was useless in room was ok in main bar area. Entrance door to accommodation was noisy.
- Julie (6/5): No Wi-Fi - I was travelling for business therefore had planned to work in the evening. Unfortunately absolutely no wi fi signal so not possible to do any work
This was a real shame as food was lovely
Room was clean but bed (room 1) pushed up to the window / wall so only accessible from one side
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay for family - Great stay. The room was more spacious than anticipated.
- Philip (6/5): - Lovely property in great location. However, wifi access to internet completely unusable due to lack of bandwidth, which combined with virtually no 3G or 4G coverage in the area means you are in information black hole!
- Christina (10/5): 5 star stay - Absolutely fantastic service the whole of our stay. Polite helpful staff. Food delicious freshly cooked. Excellent choice for breakfast which was cooked to order.
- Howard (8/5): - It’s in a great spot for walking locally and Roseberry topping is very close by. Room was fine, food was excellent .Plenty of places to park car. The only downside for us (which may not be a downside for others) was the Wi-Fi was poor in that I connected once and then it was slow and only on for a very short time before disconnecting). My phones network was poor here so I couldn’t use my phone for the internet either. All in all we enjoyed ourselves.
- JANE (8/5): - The deluxe double in the conservatory would benefit from AC.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great!!!
- ian (8/5): - We had the last room and it was really a single!
- Andrew (10/5): Very nice stay - Very happy with the room.also the staff was friendly.the food was also very nice to
- Grant (10/5): Hidden gem of a place! - Service from the team was fantastic and the food was great. Special mention to the manager Oscar who went out of his way to make sure he had everything we needed. Great place, great views…..will definitely go back.
- Paul (10/5): Anniversary break - Loved it. Comfy homley. Staff couldnt do enough for you. Will definately go back. Breakfast was amazing and eveningeals were worth every penny
- David (10/5): Cody and friendly - Brill but couldn’t see bar tariff and no breakdown of bar bill !
- Verified traveler (2/5): Closed - I turned up at 23:00 to check in hotel was closed and no one as we’re the phone so I had to book another hotel.
- Pip (8/5): Good location - Trip was both business and pleasure. Only one night stay. Location was ideal for us which was the reason we chose this hotel. Rooms are beside restaurant and bar so we needed to run through the rain to get dinner and breakfast the next morning. Not ideal.
Breakfast was good evening meal a little pricey but good. Staff friendly and helpful.
- Christopher (10/5): Amazing staff - We stayed in the delux room, was a bit hot in the room could,nt turn off the radiator, staff fixed it for us,lovely views from our room, large comfortable room and bed.lots of storage.bathroom was great, staff were so helpful and friendly, food was excellent.good choices on menu.breakfast was cooked to perfection.loved our stay we will definitely be returning.park on left side of car park as rooms are to the left of the pub.lots of spaces. Short walk to path that leads to roseberry hill.
- Paul (10/5): Great service and excellent accommodation - Lovely room with a 4-poster bed. Warm and very comfortable. Accommodated some food allergies. The accommodation is separate to the main pub as well so there would be no issue with noise.
- Christopher (10/5): Lovely stay - highly recommended. - Lovely stay with friendly staff. Good breakfast and evening meal.
- JUNE (10/5): Relaxing - As always great staff, lovely food we will return for sure
- Emma (10/5): Nice - Great little pub, lovely spacious and clean rooms. Great food and service would definitely stop again. Unfortunately the breakfast was not as nice as evening meals. Would book room only next time
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely short break. - Warm, friendly welcome from Oscar and staff.
Food excellent, wine superb, coffee, spot on.
Room small, but comfortable and warm.
Highly recommended!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great choice - Brilliant room and great service . Food was brilliant
- Joanna (10/5): What a fantastic place - Fabulous stay. Comfy beds, lovely location and fantastic staff who couldn't do enough for you. Will be returning!
- JUNE (10/5): Welcoming - Great stay as always, good food and staff
- Adam (10/5): - lovelly place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect venue with spectacular views
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was in a very pretty location and was very well decorated and looked after. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Brill
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay at The Kings Head. Lovely location, nice accommodation, good food and friendly service. Very close to Roseberry Topping and conveniently close to the A19 and A1.
- Rebecca (8/5): Great stay, amazing food - Had a lovely stay, whilst walking the Cleveland Way on my wife’s 50th, I ordered cakes to be delivered and it was wonderful how they presented them as a complete surprise for her after dinner. Thank you
- JUNE (10/5): Relaxing Stay - We had a brilliant stay, check in was quick and efficient. Michael was brillient showing us to our room and explaining everything. The room was spotless with a four poster bed and the bathroom was a good size with good quality towels. Breakfast was served at the table, offering a really good choice. We stayed for two nights and ate there on both nights, the food was excellent. If I had one negitive it's that the room was not cleaned during our stay, however they do leave clean towels and toilet rolls outside your door. Special mention to Michael who worked his socks off.
- Paul (10/5): Great price, great location - Very friendly and accommodating staff in a great location for walkers and non walkers . Excellent food, value for money and ideal for all. Modern room (11) had all essentials though toilet/shower room small.
- Verified traveler (8/5): signal - all was good accept slow service and not good phone reception
- Judith (10/5): Excellent - I had a voucher from an unexpected holiday refund so decided to use it to stay at the Kings Head while visiting my family. We had a friendly welcome and easy check in then made our way to the separate accommodation next door to the pub. Our room was large and spotlessly clean with a lovely bathroom and good shower. They had put in place Covid 19 precautions where by leaving your “do not disturb” notice on the door, the housekeeper would leave a pack of clean towels etc outside your door, otherwise they would blitz your room as usual. We had double aspect views of Roseberry Topping and the village green. Full English breakfast was enormous, well presented and very tasty! All the staff were very friendly and we couldn’t fault any part of our stay.
- Michael (8/5): - Lovely clean well maintained property. Food from Inn well presented, excellent taste and good atmosphere.
- John (4/5): - The hotel was friendly and clean, the food was good too. But the size of the "double bedroom" was extremely poor value for money. Without exaggeration there was 6" between the bed and the wall on one side and barely two feet on the other.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Delightful stay , accommodation brilliant, food delicious ,and very Covid friendly!!!
Will be back!!!.
- David (8/5): Very nice stay. - Over all a lovely stay, all the staff were great ,special mention to Oscar who was really helpful on our arrival , even getting us a drink while we checked in which we needed after a long walk.
The only slight downside was the number of items we ordered off the evening menu that wasnt available. What food we did have though was very nice.
- Anthony (10/5): cleveland way - Great place very helpful and friendly staff, great rooms and nice food
- Robert (10/5): Fantastic - We had a fantastic stay. The staff are extremely helpful and the room was perfectly clean.
- Andrew Makin (10/5): Lovely weekend away - Lovely location in the village of Newton under Roseberry, right under Roseberry Topping which can be walked from the hotel. Great access to anywhere in the North York Moors and the North Yorkshire coast.
- Meg (10/5): - Brilliant hotel! So clean and comfortable. Staff and are amazing and friendly.
