Guest Reviews
- Natalie (8/5): - I didn't like that no one spoke Enough England to hold a conversation. Area made it difficult to use public transportation. Spent a lot of money on taxi.
- Alizon (2/5): - I arrive late and I went to the room and dropped the bags then I went to front desk and I complained that the room smell like paint and since I was heading out to meet with friends I requested a new room but when i came back the only answer was that there were no rooms available, I couldn't sleep with the strong smell of paint
Next day after checking out, we requested if we can go to the rooftop and they declined since we were already checked out
Worst hotel, bad staffing (front desk)
- Leevan (4/5): - The first room that was given to us smelled musty. It made me feel sick, my chest was hurting from the awful smell. Then when they changed the room it smelled like the locker room of athletes. The exterior wall on the building had a large hole. Property has potential. Need some upgrading and maintenance.
- Denis Andrew (10/5): - Good
- JORGE LUIS (8/5): - The hotel's location is excellent, close to restaurants, banks, and the metro.
The only thing is they charge 10% more of the
rate, as a tax even when the tax was supposed included
- Pedro (10/5): - Great
- Marcello (8/5): - Well maintained, far from shopping and local stores for snacks
- Espen (8/5): - Very central location, near to lots of things, safe neighbourhood
- Tung (8/5): - Very friendly staffs. Parking is kind of tricky.
- Feri (4/5): - The problem there, was they didn’t give us the room I booked, I booked standard room and they gave us double room, also in the room didn’t have even napkins, no iron no cups, no shampoo nothing , just two beds that’s it. And the receptionist didn’t try to make us happy. They said if you are not satisfied you can cancel your booking from Expedia , but our booking was non refund
- Gregory (4/5): - Stayed for just a few hours was intransit for a flight. The room had a faucet leak. I didn't reported to frontt desk because i stay was short
- Christian (8/5): - C
- Will (2/5): - YOU WILL REGRET STAYING HERE! The property was dirty, as were the rooms, which were moldy and caused me respiratory issues. I couldn't sleep at all the first night, left that morning bright and early, demanded a refund and no response was given to me. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
- Dwight E (10/5): Request for Early Check-in Granted - My request for an early check-in was granted to 1pm.
- mario (6/5): - I like how alot of bars and rest was around and stores I didn't like how at midnight I'm sleeping and I'm hearing.noise like door slamming and anyone can have access inside
- Dwight E (6/5): New 3pm Checki-in Time - I. have been going twice a month for over 2 years and always checked in around 1pm, even though check in time was 10am. At the end of September the check in time was changed to 3pm! As usual, I was there at 1pm and was told 3pm is the new check in time. I.was visibly upset and was able to get my room at 2pm.
The driveway and steps to the lobby has been under construction for more than 6 weeks. It's noisy and dusty as well as hazardous.
- Alfred (10/5): - My experience was good i would refer them
- Aaron (10/5): Our stay was good enough and satisfactory - The hotel is in an ideal position for those who do not have car, as there is a lot of traffic. It has its own restaurant with decent service except that two young servers were not as friendly as the girls at the reception. The hotel should provide them with better customer service training.
- Martina (10/5): An awesome location - I love the location of this hotel, it is close to alot of things like, hospital, food places malls supermarkets and a park. I would definitely recommend this place. My only problem is that there is no iron available for use, but other than that it is awesome and the staff is welcoming.
- Carolina (10/5): Buen lugar - Clean, quick check in.
- Fredy (10/5): - Good price and location. Excellent service
- Philip (6/5): - Affordable but it was musky smelling and room were pretty humid. Dated.
- Ethel (6/5): - Noisy, staf not friendly, limited menu although the young lady who took my order was helpful and polite but the young lady who brought my order didn't come directly to me with the order she stopped to chat when she could have given me the order then chatted.
- Joel (6/5): - Its a basic place, cheap enough, has a/c and a bed location is good
- Shomari (8/5): - Hotel was nice for my short stay
- William (10/5): - This hotel is not a 5 star hotel, but I feel it is a very good value for the price. Easy check in, rooms are clean, and the restaurant has a limited menu but gives tasty meals. I also feel the Flan is excellent. The hotel has a pool on the roof, that lets you have a pretty view of the city.
- Abel (8/5): - Buena ubicación
- José Antonio Rodríguez (10/5): - Awesome service
- Alberto (6/5): - Some people was talking in hight level early in the morning
- Justin (10/5): - Alwaysva good stay at Terranova
- Philip (8/5): - Didn’t like check in despite arriving at 2pm i was told I would have to wait an hour for my room to be ready
- Gerald (8/5): - 👍
- Gerald (6/5): - 😏
- Marie-France (6/5): - The showers need to be fixed so they leak
- Harry (10/5): - The staff are smiles and so helpful, restaurant is awesome and the PRICE for this is so perfect.
- Harry (10/5): - Easy to say, right in the heart of Panama City. Check in took about 3 minutes. The staff, are smiles and helpful. And thier restaurant is great food and zen on relaxation.
- James (8/5): - The customer service was great. Everyone I encountered were very nice and helpful. The receptionist even help to coordinate a Tour to San Blas Islands for me.
- William (10/5): - Easy check in, the restaurant serves good food, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is older, but seems well maintained, and the price is very affordable. And I don’t need super new and shiny to have a comfortable happy stay.
- Antonio (10/5): Hotel Terranova my favorite - I have stayed at Hotel Terranova several times this year 2023 it is two star hotel that I really like it for many reasons like for example the location is excellent as it is close to everything like banking, businesses, the metro station, night entertainment, restaurants, etc.
The personnel is very friendly, respectful and always helpful.
The restaurant breakfast and meal choices are excellent.
As to the cleanliness there's personnel doing daily cleaning and they are always caring for you.
Best hot shower of Panama, no doubt about it, but the shower pan on all rooms need some renovations.
I have mentioned on previous reviews that the hotel needs better illumination on all rooms.
Air Conditioning is excellent as well.
The hotel offers bicycle rentals and transportation service for a fee to and from the airport.
- Antonio (10/5): Hotel Terranova - I have stayed at Hotel Terranova several times this 2023.
Very well located at walking distance from Calle 50 in Bella Vista.
Near restaurants, at walking distance to the El Carmen Metro station, just near everything.
The pool is great and well kept
The restaurant is good.
As to the illumination of the room they need improvement as rooms are too dark
All rooms need a refrigerator.
Air conditioning in every room is amazingly cold.
The shower area in all rooms need better maintenance.
I have used in the past the parking which I find a bit tight but extremely secure.
There are no safe boxes in the rooms but reception offers rental safes in the reception. The safe boxes are bank type, very secure.
The entire personnel is respectful, courteous and attentive.
- Craig (10/5): Above and beyond! - The staff were dilligent, patient, and creative in finding a way to get our $100 cash deposit back to us when my family had a mixup during a split check-out. They contacted my by email and came up with and used WhatsAp to coordinate getting it to my son's family via the hotel's airport shuttle. Great customer service!
- Harry (10/5): - Best bang for your dollar.
- Harry (10/5): - First off the hotel staff are amazing and the price can not be beat.
- CHRISTIE (10/5): - Great price for Downtown city area. Everything was close by- food, shopping, tour bus. We felt very safe walking around. Great city skyline view from room and rooftop pool area. Pool was very nice looking and clean. A plus also is that they have luggage storage. We checked out and stored our luggage till 3 pm in order to go sightseeing. No extra charge. Would recommend.
- Maikel (6/5): - El hotel está bien pero una discoteca cerca del hotel hace mucho ruido toda la noche
- Brian Dale (10/5): - Close to Avenida Balboa with great dining options available. Also, Casio Viejo was easily accessible.
- Sanjay (10/5): - Very friendly staff, could use some amenities in the rooms.
- Bruno (6/5): - It's very centric with many restaurants within walking distance
- Danilo (10/5): - Centrally located to everything.
- Randy (8/5): - I liked the swimming pool. Refrigerators in the room. I didnt like the moisture and i would suggest some dehumidifier may help correct that. The bar/restaurant only had one national beer brand and that was disappointing.
- Brenda (10/5): - Attentive staff, great reasonable priced stay
- Nouleen (8/5): - Everything was okay .
- Alberto (8/5): - EL AREA DE LA DUCHA NO LO LIMPIAN DIARIAMENTE,NO HAY DONDE COLOCAR LA ROPA Y UTENSILLOS DE LIMPIEZA Y ROPA INTERIOR
- Luis Joel (8/5): - Personal was nice. Location is great, view is spectacular. Prices for the Restaurant are good as well! Needs some updates, but worth it
- Ronald (6/5): - Good location and quick check in.
- Daniel (8/5): Adequate and comfortable - ADEQUATE ROOM, hated the step up to the bathroom, bed fairly comfortable, tv too small for the size of the room. Great walking location for bella vista. Staff freindly, breakfast too expensive for what you get, cannot recommend. Lots of other food options nearby. Parking lot a litle steep incline and very tight. All in , a decent place for the value.
- Alberto (8/5): - Nothing
- Bruno (10/5): - Very centriaclly located. Many restaurants nearby.
Does not have a closet or a drawer in the room
- Genie (10/5): - The property is conviently located, it's clean, and the price is good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lo único que deben mejorar es la ensalada, mucha lechuga
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place for budget minded traveler
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and safe entry and tremendously accommodating and helpful staff. Elevator, room, and restaurant are all very clean and enjoyable. Food is good and also have some great views of the city. Nice large bathroom and shower as well! Definitely the affordable and enjoyable option when going through Panama City!
- Noneyabidnezz (6/5): - Already explained in my main review so I'm not gonna elaborate
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not a good experience - When I arrived there was no running water in the whole building, they said they were fixing this but after 24 hours there was still no water and everybody was complaining. Reception said they were sending bottles of water to me, but after reminding them 3 times the water never came. Myself and everybody else in the hotel were not able to wash.
Eventually I had to book into another hotel, with the help of hotels.com who were very helpful in getting me out of this situation.
Asides from this, the hotel is not as nice as the pictures and description. If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay then it is passable. If not then it is worth paying a little extra and going elsewhere.
Unlike other reviews I found the staff to be ok, I speak a little Spanish but they do speak enough English to communicate so some reviews are not correct. They were also doing their best under the circumstances of no water and had lots of unhappy guests to deal with. But even under this stress they were not unfriendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s clean, a great location snd the staff is friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Is a good environment,and i like. Tje pool is 24 hours
- Agnes (10/5): - We requested a refrigerator which we received after 24 hours. They let us use the microwave to heat up take home food . The staff is very friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A clean hotel, good location, good breakfast.
Very good hotel for the price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The only appeal of this hotel is it’s closeness to restaurants
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very unfriendly staff, not really helpful, just waiting for they day of work to finish, very clean hotel, great location, pool was being repaired and staff never said anything about it, I found out when I went to the pool with my swimming suit on.
- Julio (8/5): Wow - Amazing experience will recommend
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location was goo but but windows are not isolate the music and traffic outside. They need to clean properly public areas as corridors and parking lot. Is so dirty, construction dust
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The air worked great. The beds only had light quilts. We would have liked a little heaver blanket. The showers held water. But over all it was fine.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to restaurants and still walking distance to the ocean.
- Vincent (6/5): - Good location.Close to several restaurants. Restaurant in the hotel left a lot to be desired. Breakfast was mostly cold; eggs, meat, beans, pancakes...all cold.... Every day. Many other restaurants down the block to choose from. I paid extra for the breakfast to be included, but the staff said it wasn’t so I paid $6 more. Most of the staff were friendly and a few of them even spoke English. Vincent Nieboer
- Joseph (8/5): OK - GOOD LOCATION
- thierry (8/5): Hotel review - Best bet for the price on a budget
Breakfast is good and included but if you want a refill on your coffee or bread that will cost you $2.84 ..lol
- Verified traveler (6/5): Streets in front are a mess. - Staff speaks almost no english and in resturant very unfriendly breakfast not realy good , and also the rooms are none secure we had someone else coming in at 1:30am ,how come he csn open the door , and when I complaind in the morning about it seemed like an I dont care attitude. I would not recomend this hotel. Oh and wifi does not reach into the room and is very slow.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for the money ! - I am a returning client at Terranova. It is a great ration quality/value in a good location. It is near Avenida Balboa and the bay. One block from Calle Urugay and restaurants/night life. There was construction work on the streets, but no noise at night. Breakfast is good. Good AC. Wifi and TV ok.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel only for rest - The staff is not nice, aren’t friendly, I’m genrral a bad experience
- Magaly (8/5): Very convenient to everything. - Extremely nice and friendly staff. Very convenient to restaurants and bars.
- Mark (2/5): Beware - Street was being rebuilt so getting there was a nightmare.,plus nothing regarding this was posted warning guests a total mislead...gum stuck in closet doors, bed sheets old and did not look clean, same for towels...AC was noisy to the point that it rattled, tv remote only worked one feet from set...furniture old and a lamp was showing cables with no plug...tried to shorten my stay, was not allowed or given a refund...stayed a few hours, decided was not safe and left...staff gave me an option of another room next day,but I felt the building was too old and declined, just left
- Verified traveler (6/5): - You get what you pay for here. The restaurant is barely a restaurant with a very small menu. The pool has broken pool chairs. Don't use their airport shuttle service - its about triple the price of a regular cab or Uber!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very good to walk around the city at night. Good location
- Verified traveler (6/5): It is what it is... - ...a low quality but cheap hotel. No English from some front desk staff. Wi-Fi didn't work in my room, only the lobby. They refuse to give you a 2nd room key so you can't have the AC on unless you're in the room. Bathrooms are ok but the shower is very small and kinda gross. I spent my last night in Panama City here and did not shower.
- Cassandra (6/5): Might be the Norm - The breakfast was delicious and in a great location, but the hotel and room were very disappointing. There was old damaged furniture in the rooms, cracks in walls and dirty looking shower, windows, and furniture. The bed had a thin sheet and a thin brown (what?!?!!?) blanket that looked like it had been used for years. The blanket had cotton bunched up inside in odd areas. I was uncomfortable sleeping in the bed- it just didn't seem clean. When you go to a hotel, at a minimum, you want your room to feel clean and comfy. I was VERY disappointed and next time I stay at a hotel in Panama City, I will ask for a walkthrough of the place and the room.
Oh, and a "maid" dressed in regular clothing came into my room right after I checked-in. She didn't knock and didn't look or sound apologetic when she saw me. I speak a little Spanish, so I think she was there to clean and didn't realize I had come in/checked in. It was weird.
- Verified traveler (6/5): An cheap hotel near the center of the city - We stayed at this hotel because we needed a hotel near the center of the city and we wanted to save on our stay in Panama. You get what you are paying for. It's a cheap hotel that is well located. Most staff is kindly with the guests. The bad: the hotel have some design bloopers that end up to be unpleasant, e.g. bad lighting on the room. But the most annoying is no restrooms or bathroom near the pool. You have to get to your room if you want to make pee.
Lastly, breakfast are awful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good area with plenty of restaurants and things to do. The hotel room smelled of mildo.. The bed sheets were cheap and small. They kept popping off the bed. Had to ask multiple times for towels. The free breakfast was nice.
- Lynn (8/5): - This is a great location!! Beach is fabulous!! Security is great. Staff r friendly. It made us feel very safe and didn't worry about leaving our stuff on the beach. Rooms r comfortable. Balcony was facing the beach. Hotel grounds r beautiful and well kept. We will definitely stay here again. Only thing that would make it better is to add fridge to the room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): OK hotel with great location - Ok hotel with great location. Staff needs to learn more about customer service
- jaime (4/5): getting old - It is and old hotel that needs some repairementes, There was not internet.
I just spend one night.
Easy Parking
- Raul (6/5): Nice hotel in a good location - Very nice and comfortable hotel in a good location
- Verified traveler (4/5): A dump - This was my third stay at Terranova and my last. Tho the rate was good, everything else there gets seedier by the week. The decaying bathrooms & other problems used to be offset by the wonderful rooftop pool. The tile grout below the water line is now a yellowish-green with algae or other scum-- not enticing at all. The advertised wifi does not exist in the rooms or restaurant -- only available in the dark, hot, noisy lobby. Complaints are met with a shoulder shrug. This place needs a big infusion of maintenance and giving a darn.
- First timer (4/5): Basic hotel - Do not expect much. No hot water, face cloths or hand towels. No clock or safe in room. Lighting is poor. One ceiling light in a big room. Only allow two choices for breakfast, not the full menu, don' t know why. Hotel staff do not speak English. Has luggage storage. Room is clean.
- Dylan (10/5): - For the money this place can't be beat. Pool area is nice. Many restaurants in walking distance.
- First Timer (2/5): Close to Avenue Balboa - This hotel is really basic, no hot water, no luggage receipt for luggage storage, no safe in room, no coffee machine in room, no face cloths, no hand towels, no clock, insufficient lighting in room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean rooms and cheap. - Would stay here again in a minute. Can't beat the price and great location.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't be fooled by the other reviews!!! - I stayed 6 nights and highly urge everyone to steer clear of this place. I had high hopes based on other reviews and I'm not a very picky person. I lived in Guatemala for 2 years so I know how different things can be in Central America. From the night I arrived I had issues with this place. I could go on an on about the slow or at most times inoperative internet, the TV with 12 channels, the old towels with holes in them, the rude and unhelpful staff or the fact that my luggage had been intruded upon almost daily. But the grand finally came when I went to check out and leave to get to the airport. The 'parking' garage is really dangerous with only a few places for cars to park and really tight corners. One unfortunate person got his vehicle stuck near the entrance. Since there's only enough room for one vehicle at a time to pass I couldn't exit with my rental car. My flight was leaving in a few hours and I needed not only to return my rental car but get to the airport as well. I explained this to the staff and they just shrugged and said I they could call a taxi service for $30. I was upset because not only would I have to pay for the ride, I'd have to pay for additional time on my rental car and whatever fee they came up with to retrieve it from the hotel. I decided to take some pictures of the stuck vehicle so I could explain it to the rental company. I tried to take a picture of the staff and they tried to grab the camera and said they would call the police. Outofspace...
- Micael (4/5): Not worth the price considering nearby hotels. - Standard room is big enough but not comfortable. The bed sheets were not the right size, not enough towels for 2. Service was OK but you don't feel welcome. AC good. Swimming pool good place but something was missing.
- John (8/5): Hotel Teranova - good value for the money - This is a basic hotel - kind of like a Motel 6 in the U.S.
Price included a free breakfast and they did have shuttle service for $5 for most places that you'd want to go. (Though it's cheaper by taxi)
Staff was friendly enough, elevators and wifi worked fine.
I was on the 8th floor, nice view of the city.
It does have a small pool on the roof.
Room is basic - clean, maid service daily.
