Guest Reviews
- Lena Marie (4/5): - We ended up in a different room due to some changes at the guesthouse. Unfortunately, the new room was not cleaned, and we only received one towel for two people. The refrigerator didn’t work, the shower had very low pressure, and there was dirty cutlery on the counter.
The host, however, was helpful and gave us a ride to the ferry terminal, which we appreciated.
- Nigel (8/5): - The property delivered as advertised. Small, quiet, easily accessible.
- Shevon (8/5): - 8/10
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I highly recommend staying at Tropical Breeze in Gros Islet. The perfect spot with easy access to St. Lucia's main cities, Rodney Bay, Castries.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We messaged the owner beforehand what time we will arrive. Upon our arrival it was locked and there was no one there. When we came back two hours later the owner said it’s overbooked and he doesn’t have a room for us blaming his staff for it. Luckily his neighbours has a studio apartment where we were accommodated. On our last night the owner insisted that we stay at tropical breeze because his making a loss. He failed to inform us that this is the night he’s having a house party so we were unable to use the kitchen to make dinner. Also the washing machine we used at his place which he charged extra for, did not clean the clothes at all. I recommend to avoid this place and do yourself a favour and book the place with his neighbours instead.
- Richard (8/5): - It was fine ...short walk to the village and to the beach. Mini buses are a minute away to go to Rodney Bay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - the owner really friendly but the kitchen is shared and had very bad experience with other guest.
- shirland (10/5): Amazing home away from place to stay - Amazing as always, Julian,Patrick and lady cleaner were above and beyond generous, and amazing hosts
- Brigitte (8/5): - Excellent accueil.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The homely atmosphere, the cleaness of the place, the help with getting around the island. I would recomend this guesthouse to my family and friends
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would 10000% recommend - We stayed here for 2 nights after an bad incident we had at another Guesthouse, where we did not feel safe anymore..The owner of Tropical Breezes, Julian was an angel! We felt safe at his accommodation!!! So welcoming, so kind! The place itself was clean! There was AC, clean washroom, clean kitchen, clean living room. Right around the corner there is a bakery and laundry services - super convenient! I already recommended this place to family & friends!
- Bryan (10/5): Great value great stay - The Hotel was spotless, and the staff was extremely friendly. The common area has a private home feel, with large kitchen, dining area and living room space for use by guests. The neighborhood is safe and a stones throw away from the Friday night food festival in the village. Five minute drive to the Rodney bay shopping area and beaches
- Davina (8/5): - Tropical Breeze was a very good experience for me. I was comfortable the whole time, the employees and manager were very helpful and willing, and even though I was in a shared space it never felt that way. I always felt like I had the place to myself lol. And its very affordable. I would definitely stay there again.
- Glenn (8/5): Very Nice - Not a resort, just a nice place to stay. With 3 Bedrooms, Kitchen and being very clean, I highly
recommend it. It is in a local neighborhood in Gros Islet. All the Staff were helpful and very nice
people. I love St Lucia and with our group of 6 with my Grandkids we needed a one night stay.
This was perfect. It is a good value, nothing fancy. We all liked our short stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We spent one night here having arrived on the ferry from Martinique. We didn't really get to see Gros Inlet but everyone at the hotel was very nice and made us very welcome.
- peter (8/5): Economic base for long term stay - Friendly staff and good enough forlong term stays..a car is a must
- Joseph (6/5): - For the night of Oct 20, everything was Ok;
For the second stay Oct 28 -30 , we got Confirmation from Expedia & from the Ownership of Tropical Breeze, but when we got to Tropical Breeze on Oct 28 we were informed that they had overbooked, and we were taken to a Guest house nearby that was a little less than ok ( somewhat disappointing ) and still cost us more.
- Lesley (8/5): Affordable comfortable accommodation - The hotel was clean, comfortable and the ambience was pleasant. The person I liaised with was helpful and friendly.
- Ima (4/5): I hope you get a better experience - I went to this hotel twice. The first time, they gave out my rooms because the staff didn't confirm the name used to book. The second time I had to wait 2hrs for a room to be issued, even though I was checking in 1day late AND there was no one in the rooms, which is easy to figure since it really is just a remodeled house. Unfortunately, the wifi also acted up that day, and I left, never having stayed here. When I was called, instead of an apology or something, I was being told it's not their fault and educated about wifi. All in all the worst hotel experience I've had.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Shared-room hotel style near shopping area - I love the staff at this place. He was the most amazing staff ever, Mr. P. There was a little language barrier but he was willing to go anywhere with me. I arrived very late at night, extremely hungry and the restaurants were like 2 blocks away. He offered to walk with me since I was a foreigner and was worried about safety. But everything was quite peaceful and beautiful. He also offer to be my guide to other sites (i.e. local restaurants, beach, bank, and national forest) that my gps couldn't take me to and was willing to wait for me to finish my activity that took a few hours. Also, breakfast (prepared by Mr. P) was delicious and felt like home. The whole time I was there, I wish that I could live on this island.
The hotel is more like a home with multiple room to share. But I was fortunate to have the place all to myself. Although wifi ($10/stay) and breakfast ($7/day) was additional cost, but it was worth it. Free air conditioning and free, but limited parking. I enjoyed every moment being there. I sing, dance and drink all I want and anytime I want. It was awesome. Even the staff was dancing and enjoying the music with me. Everything about this place makes me want to come back for another visit when I have more time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Simply Good - My stay was fantastic
- Rocio (6/5): Misleading hotel info - The ad in your site was not what it turned out to be.....no 2 double beds, no free wi-fi not even free local calls!!! However some of the staff made the difference in our stay
- Steve (10/5): Nicest staff/owners EVER! - Tropical Breeze is a small owner operated hotel close to Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach and Pigion Point/Pigion Beach. The hotel has two apartment style places upstairs with their own private entrances and a few hotel style rooms on the main floor. My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the apartments for a week.
As my title says, 'nicest staff/owners EVER but ill get to that in a sec. First, if you are expecting Sandals type resort living this is not the place, but if you are on a budget this is far and away I would say the best place on the island. The hotel is very clean. The owners/operators live there so they want to keep it clean for their guests as well as themselves. Also, they have cameras outside which a lot of the small hotels don't.
The apt has a kitchen, cable and wifi for downtime and can be used as a one-three bedroom depending on your needs. Down the road walking is laundry if one needs it. On the next street is a small convenience store and even closer a few doors from the hotel is a real mom and pop smaller store. The bus is very close and a great way to get around the island. A bus comes literally every four minutes. No joke!
Moving on to the staff/owners. They were the nicest people ever! Tropical Breeze is run by Ruth, her husband John and Ruths brother Listen. They were great giving us advice on general safety, the best attractions, directions and other advice that tourists should know. Also the full-time maid Lucy could not have been nicer either.
- Colin (8/5): Wonderful stay - John and Ruth who owned the property were very helpful and made my stay very enjoyable. The staff were very hardworking and very friendly
- Verified traveler (4/5): Middle of nowhere - No restaurants, no shops (1 little near where you can buy beer, not water) near. Also the beach far.
- Peter (2/5): My first visit to St. Lucia - I did not get to stay there b cause they did not huv my reservation for me, I had to b put up by another Hotel.
- susan (4/5): dissatisfied caricom local - Customer service was poor,I fell ill and it took too long for me to find a doctor, which was expensive but professional.amenities were outdated or completely absent.tour assistance was poor.locals were not polite.I was not interested in seeing anything after the first day
- astrid (6/5): A faire - Bon accueil général.
- robert (10/5): Nice hotel close the beach - Very friendly personnel, very good location ,good price
- Josh (10/5): Charming Guesthouse in a rustic and conv. Location - The stay at Tropical Breeze guesthouse and apartments was welcoming from the moment we arrived. The staff were very accommodating which facilitated an easy move into the "relaxed" Caribbean environment which was needed.
All our tourist questions were answered knowledgeably by the staff and the owners provided excellent suggestions of the local area and St. Lucia in general.
A very clean room, spacious bathroom and chilled out atmosphere.
- Verified traveler (2/5): nasty place - rusty faucets, dirty and mold smelling blankets. chargeo for wifi and online booking
- Traveller (8/5): Nice guest house in the right location - We had a nice stay at Tropical Breeze guest house. It was perfect for us. It's not a 5 star luxurious hotel, so please don't complain. If you want a nice comfortable place to stay that is away from the hustle and bustle of a town centre, then, this is your place. It is reasonably priced, the staff, especially Liston is helpful and available. The room was clean. We could use the fridge and the microwave in the main kitchen area. The guest house is in a residential road, so very quiet. Make sure you go to the Friday night street party in Gros Islet from 8pm until early hours. We eat at a restaurant called Fridays. The food was brilliant. The guest house can arrange taxis with Smartie's tours - equally nice drivers, to anywhere you wish. But as mentioned earlier, you can easily take the bus which is very cheap.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful guesthouse for someone on a budget. - I stayed for two nights here and had a wonderful time and for the price, you just can't beat it. It's closeness to the beaches/bars and restaurants I couldn't of been happier. The whole staff was beyond helpful with any questions I had. I can't recommend this place enough.
- Deanna (10/5): A gem of a guesthouse for a good bargain. - I really enjoyed staying at the Tropical Breeze Guesthouse. The staff, Ruth, John, Sabina, Lucy and Liston were all so helpful and there for me. I feel I had a positive experience staying at a guesthouse in a local neighborhood. It was a cultural experience for me that broadened my horizons. It was charming to hear the roosters at night and in the morning, as well as seeing sheep and roosters walking around. I enjoyed it.
- LDE (6/5): Ok for budget travelers-I wasn't crazy about it - I saw the great reviews and so I booked but unlike other visitors I don't have as much to rave about. Service from the front desk was super slow and the made a few mistakes on my bill (though I must say the security guard was very attentive. They could not find the remote for the A/C so it was quite sticky and muggy in the room. Towels were dirty with several hairs stuck to them. The price is right if you are on a budget but be prepared to take a local bus or taxi as this place is out of the way of any places to eat. It is in a local neighborhood where the people seem friendly enough. You can bring food and cook in the apartment which did seem clean and had fresh flowers as a nice touch. I decided to move to Rodney Bay which is a bit more pricey but I personally prefer a few more creature comforts.
- JJ (8/5): Island Time... - If your a budget traveller you'll struggle to find anywhere cheaper. Winston the house manager was fantastic and very helpful. The cleaning Lady came everyday, so my room was always clean and tidy. Smelt a bit of moth balls which was a shame, but difficult to fault apart from that.
HOT TIP: Make sure the use of the kitchen is included in the booking.
- Jim&Ann (8/5): Hidden Treasure - Tropical Breeze is a hidden treasure!. First impressions of its location were not good, but this proved to be mistaken.
Mr&Mrs Wiggins could not have been more helpful, they took us, in their own car, shopping the evening we arrived. They were always available with advice/help in making our stay in St Lucia a success. Gros Ilet village has a selection of bars/restaurants, the "Taste of the grill" being the best we tried(not always open). the prices in the village were a fraction of the prices in the nearby tourist area of Rodney Bay, which is a 2.5 EC$ bus ride away. The Friday night "jumpup" in Gros Ilet is not to be missed. The guesthouse is an easy 5min walk from the village centre.
