Guest Reviews
- Chelsa (6/5): - Liked the cute cabin like feel of the motel and has a lot of potential to be good again. The room and beds were clean but room definitely needs some upgrades and there was way too much and awkward old furniture in the rooms. Was a place to sleep but no draws to want to stay again.
- Deborah (2/5): DON'T...repeat don't...stay here! - We did not actually stay here because the hotel was so run down, and I mean Bates Motel run down, that we left. The clerk gave us three rooms to choose from. One was smoke-filled, one was filled with an overpowering ammonia cleaner smell, and the third had such badly sloping floors that it would have been uncomfortable. The bathrooms were shabby but clean. The photos online looked so cute and kitschy but the reality was a 180 switch. the cute restaurant, which we were excited to try, apparently burned down last year but nobody thought to update any of this information to the booking sites. This place is nothing but a teardown. Go somewhere else...please!
- Ashley (2/5): - We went to check in and this place so dirty! The person next door was blasting music which could clearly be heard in our room. Upon checking the beds, we found hair and a blood stain on the box spring. We ended up not staying and finding alternative accommodation.
- Russell (4/5): - This motel was a drive-in and drive out. We got to the room he gave us. We couldn’t find the light switch to turn the lights on could not find a bathroom. It just didn’t feel right so we left. Yes, we paid but I’ll think twice again before using hotels.com to book a hotel.
- Kathryn (2/5): Misleading advert - Pictures are outdated. There is no longer a restaurant yet all the pictures show this as if it is the hotel. The reception desk is in a gas station. We were overcharged for a pet fee despite not having a pet. The room smelt like stale smoke and was full of bugs. Good price but misleading advertisement. Hotels.com did not resolve these issues or complaints they passed them off to the hotel.
- Cecil (6/5): - would stay there again
- Shannon (2/5): - Dirty, dusty. Smelled of cigarettes. Door didnt lock properly. Was given the wrong key and walked into someone elses room while they where lying in bed. Guy at the front didnt seem to bother, just told us to try another room. The list is endless. Never again.
- Dave (4/5): - Old and outdated
- Crystal (2/5): Never ever!!!!! Ever!! - Got there after a long day of driving in less than optimal conditions to find no check in office. Apparently it’s in the gas station which was closed. Check in closes after 10 pm which would have been really great to know PRIOR to booking!!! Called 2-3 times with no answer. Ended up going to the Marriott across the street which was wonderful.
Never ever will consider this motel again. Looked rather rundown and NOTHingile the pics. Guess the 93 cent gas in the pic shoulda been my first guess.
- ALFRED ARCHIE (10/5): - It fit the bill for a overnite rest stop
- Hidekazu (8/5): - Reasonable.
- Nancy (6/5): Good for short term stays. - There were quite a few options nearby for food. The store had some food available to purchase. We didn’t stay for breakfast and coffee. The bed was relatively comfortable and the bed was clean.
- Harmanpreet (10/5): - .
- Emma (8/5): - Very convenient highway stop.
- David (2/5): - Don’t stay here. It’s moldy stinks like cigarettes and the guy who checked us in did a drug deal right after. It’s gross
- Taylor (8/5): - Price was fantastic. Would not stay for more than a night, however, as the room was very stuffy, outdated, and dirty. Bed was comfortable, however, I refused to go under the blankets (due to uncertain cleanliness of the linens)
- Debra (6/5): - It is challenging to write a review for this property as it is a 2 star rating. I booked it because all the reviews I read indicated the room was very clean. We did not experience that. We were grateful the parking was directly in front of the door and the location was convenient for traveling. We also saved a bundle of money compared to the rates of other motels.
- Earl (8/5): - Looks bad on the outside but everything was good
- Ryan (4/5): - Person checking me in argued about the price i booked at. Kept saying it was the old price and didnt know how i booked it at that.
Outside of building is in terrible shape, rotting wood deck in front of door. Signs falling apart, torn up lot. AC didnt work well enough and room was extremely hot and made it hard to sleep.
- Ciara (2/5): - This place is horrible. Photos on website are very old. This place broken down, grunge, dirty, no grass, cigarette butts and garbage everywhere. Dont feel safe. Bugs, dirty. No restaurant closed a yr ago. Wanted to stay for fun for kids, this place is disgusting . Long weekend everything else booked. Sleep in car better than this place. Empty beer cans all over, sketchy people. No screens in windows that safety lick by putting a stick in to secure window, bugs in window cracks. Falling apart, peeling paint, ceiling stains, floor warped, and small so small. Dont stay here. I paid $95 maybe worth $25 if you had to stay like i did. Never again! Big pile of garbage.
- Littlewood, (6/5): - Friendly intake. Clean sheets and room. Noisy ac worked well. Old motel hanging on the best it can. I would come back again.
- susan (2/5): - Staff person didn't know much, told us TVs don't work, kinda unfriendly she was
- Dick (8/5): - The property was good considering the low cost. We would go back again!
- WENDI (10/5): - Staff is very nice, but the room is a little bit old.
- Stacey (2/5): - There was nothing good about this property. I asked for my money back because the room was disgusting and they kept 15
- Yvonne (6/5): - No place to sit outside except in front of the door which was fulll of cigarette butts.Ni outside chairs supplied. No restaurant or pub as advertised. There is a gas station and grocery store, that’s all.
- Angela (4/5): - The motel is very run down - not at all like as pictured. Our first impression was it looks like a motel from a horror movie and was potentially unsafe. The staff are not overly helpful.
- Ladislav (4/5): - We stayed just one night. This hotel is
- Samah Nesrine (4/5): - The photo of pool should be removed from your ad as it misleads who’s going to book just like I did! My kids were so disappointed once they discovered that there is no pool!! Yes, it is not mentioned in your amenities chart but lot of people will focus on the pictures instead of reading the whole thing.
- kay (6/5): - You get what you pay for and it was cheap. The picture for the property is very old and misleading. There isn't a restaurant anymore. I'm disappointed that Expedia would allow them to use that picture. Room had a strong stale cigarette smell.
- Samantha (8/5): - The outside is a bit rundown but all in all it's a good little motel
- TETIANA (4/5): - Our room was old, in the description photo we saw it and we were ok with it. Our goal was to stay there for a night. The description mentions that this is a non-smoking place. But our room had a terrible smell of smoke. And even opening the window did not help. It was too late to search for another place to stay, so we stayed there and in the morning, we left this motel as soon as possible, because there was a permanent smell of smoke in the room.
- Krista (6/5): - There was no restaurant and patio as expected and shown in the photos. Not their fault as it burnt down last year.
Basic but beds were very comfy.
- Forrest (6/5): - Ok clean. Serviceable place to stay to go ride the bike park and not spend a fortune.
- Richard (8/5): Acceptable budget lodging - Acceptable budget lodging. Quite dated, but this was expected. Beds were comfortable, an important consideration.
- james (6/5): - It was cheap.
- Caira (6/5): - Comfy beds, clean room. We arrived late at night and the A/C wasn’t turned on and it took a few hours to cool off so was hard to sleep in the heat
- Brian (6/5): - Old, signage falling apart, rundown. Tv was not programmed properly, useless.
- Stephanie (6/5): Reflects cheap price - Place reflects price, cheapest place in town.
Bedspread was full of sand, and room smells like a smokers room. There was dog hair on the sheets.
- Kerry (8/5): - One of the room keys didnt work, good enough for a place to sleep and go.
- Shang (10/5): - Good
- Verified traveler (2/5): Decided not to stay here - Because of construction we arrived after dark and couldn't find the motel. Went about a block from where we thought it was and asked a local where it was. He was shocked that we would want to stay there. He said it is not like it used to be and very run down. We still decided to check it out and followed his instructions. The reason we couldn't find it is because there were no lights on to show it was a motel. Had to go to the adjoining service station to find the person who looks after the motel. When he was free, he took us to the room. No light switch when you go into the room. Have to walk half way into the room to turn on the bedside light. Extremely small, dark and old room. Blankets were slightly rumpled which made me wonder if someone had used the bed. Didn't feel safe in such a dark area right next to a service station. The restaurant that had been there burned down last year, the parking lot is all full of bumps and holes. Tried to close the curtains and the whole rod fell down. Couldn't stay here. Decided to go to another motel. First time I've ever experienced anything so bad!
- David (2/5): - Awful. Don’t do it!
- Christina (8/5): - Cigarette burn holes in blankets. Truck stop motel.
- mohammed naeem (8/5): - It was good as per the tariff what we paid.
- Julie (10/5): - Convenient & clean - love the staff always with a smile :)
- Elaine (8/5): - The staff is very nice
- Satnam (4/5): - Small room with smell.
- Sheena (6/5): - The place is nothing special. The only good thing is the price, and its attached to a gas station. Rooms are small and outdated, smelled clean when we entered but dust on the headboards, boardwalk is falling apart and the listing pictures are outdated.
- Karen (10/5): - Clean and quiet good place to get a nights rest
- jack (8/5): - Comfotable. Everything worked as it should. Room was very old and small. Good to stay the night as you pass by.
- Jennifer (2/5): - The Ol' Frontier is disgusting. We checked in, looked at the room and couldn't stay there. If you want to stay at a place that looks as though its waiting to be condemned, then this is for you.
There are SO many more options in Revelstoke
- Carol (8/5): - Its not the most classy place but its a place to s.eep
- Antoon (6/5): - Great place for the price!
- Nicola (10/5): - Great location just off highway was easy to find
- Mario (2/5): - This hotel is old, dirty and the furniture is uncomfortable. The price is low, but the facility reflects the low price. I won't be staying at this hotel again. I don't recommend it.
- leland (2/5): - they said I cancelled my reservation. No restaurant. No Bar. Very old and unkept.
- Nicole (8/5): - Nice room nice people good price
- Mark (10/5): - Good value
- Debra (2/5): - We were charged a $10 cleaning fee for our service dog.
"InBritish Columbia, hotels are prohibited from charging extra fees for service dogs. Service dogs are not considered pets and therefore are not subject to pet fees or deposits. This protection is part of the B.C. Human Rights Code which ensures individuals with disabilities are not discriminated against when using service animals."
- Brigitte (6/5): - The room though small was clean and the bed comfortable.
I had trouble finding a light switch and couldn't get the TV to operate. The fridge and microwave were good
- Tammy (8/5): - We just needed a clean bed to sleep in and we were glad our room was that for sure. Very old but nice and clean even a fridge and microwave. Unfortunately some of the residents were blasting music all evening but at 9 we asked about it and the front desk got them to quit. Very kind thank you
- Jessica (8/5): - Stayed for three nights, enjoyed my stay place was clean and quiet, as a solo woman felt relatively safe no one bothered me being a motel with mostly male construction workers. Check in woman was pleasant. Had a dog with me so was nice it was pet friendly however was charged extra $10/night which I don’t think is necessary given that it’s a 2-star motel and the property itself is quite run down. Convenience store also said it was open 24-hours and it was not. Great location to local restaurants and national park. Also pictures advertised on Expedia are not up to date, and it’s not mentioned that the restaurant is no longer there. Overall was a good stay good value when you just need a place to crash and shower after long days of adventuring.
- SUE (10/5): - Been coming here for years. Last of the old style motor hotels. Love it a real throwback. Staff is so great, friendly and accomodating.
- Rob (2/5): - I'm pretty sure there were rodents in the walls. Didn't stay the night.
- Robin (6/5): - We were in room 15 and were woken up several times in the night because bats are living in the rafters! It sounded like they were flying in the room and scared the crap out of us.
- viqui (4/5): - It was a place to test the head. Parking was awkward , people smoked right outside the rooms, rooms needs some TLC but were clean. Convent fridge and microwave. The price meets the standard I think. Check in was odd had to go into the gas station nothing against it just odd. Staff were meh to the point not rude but didn’t feel overly welcome. If you need a place to rest you head for a night and don’t want to pay a lot here’s the place. Looking for comfortable place this may not be sheets extremely scratchy so it was uncomfortable to sleep on.
- Delvert (4/5): - For the money it was ok
- Trevor (6/5): - While the rooms were dated, the mattresses were new. The bathrooms were very old and the tub was stained, with some mildew build up. The toilet ran all night. It is connected to a gas station which felt weird as the office was in the gas station. The number to call staff was hard to find. They were also paving the parking area so we couldn’t park near our room which was frustrating.
- Bernard (6/5): - The price was right for the room I got. All I wanted was a place with indoor plumbing, no leaky roof, a comfortable bed, and an A/C that works--and that's what I got.
- Isabelle (8/5): - Small room but comfortable beds and very conveniently located.
- Andrea (4/5): - The hotel burned down… seriously it burned down last night! I can send a photo
- Karen (6/5): - The room was tiny, which doesn’t overt matter. The walls need a good scrub down. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean.
- Jemma (6/5): - "Nothing compares to youuuuu"
Better than camping in the pouring rain. Friendly staff! The bathroom and towels were surprising very clean. The walls look like they have been sprayed with some bodily fluids, and it looks like a strangling or two may have happened here.
But, you get what you pay for! Overall, if you need a cheap place to crash for the night, it'll do!
- Carole L. (10/5): - We rate this motel based on our expectations and value, considering the rate we paid in relation to other similar facilities in the area.. It was excellent value and we intend to stay here again when in the area. Shauna was helpful and honest.
- Candace (4/5): - Was quite dirty, sheets were clean. No remotes for the tv. Customer service was terrible.
- Neil (6/5): - G
- Allison (6/5): - Definitely an older motel, but it’s also half the price of every other hotel in town during my mid-August stay. With that in mind, this place was fine especially for a short stay. It was decently comfortable overall & all the basics are covered. Check-in is easy, no need to call the motel prior to arrival once your reservation is booked, as long as you know the gas station next door also manages the motel now, so that’s where the front desk is. The only downside is the interesting restaurant on site has long since closed.
- Curtis (2/5): - Property was very run down, and when we arrived they tried to charge more than we had already booked for.
- Jessica (10/5): - It is what it is. I appreciate this place being cheap as dirt, cause who wants to spend hundreds of dollars on a hotel in revelstoke when you’re staying one night. It was a good sleep.
- Melanie AJ (6/5): - So I guess I'd sort of say there's the Good The bad and The ugly. The good is the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the bed was quite comfortable, the air conditioning was quiet, bathroom was clean, the room was clean, and the place is incredibly cheap. We paid $85 with taxes for two people and a dog. In a place where lots of hotels are $300 that was a bargain. But remember, you get what you pay for. The bad is the rooms are extremely small, in a bit of a state of disrepair, the fridge and air conditioner leak on the floor, and there is a smell of cigarette smoke in the room. The ugly frankly is that this place is quite run down and that the ad isn't truthful about having dining on the property. It's not walkable really around the area.
- Barbara (4/5): - Revy is a fun town. This hotel was very rundown and questionable cleanliness, yet what do you expect for the price?
- Elmer (2/5): - The place is really grungy and sketchy. Would not stay here again and would not recommend to others. You'd be better off to pay a bit more at other places and have a clean, decent and safe place to stay.
- Myriah (8/5): - Not bad for the price
- Kevin (6/5): - Noisy
- Kris (6/5): - Very reasonably priced
- vincent (4/5): - The fridge was not working properly and dripping water.
- Dayna (6/5): - Bed was smaller than we thought, but was super comfortable which was a happy surprise. Bathtub shower combo was elevate of the floor level by over a foot so although it looks normal while standing outside the tub once you get in the shower head came up to my chest. So they was no way to stand in the shower and get your head wet unless you can do a back bend or bend way forward to wash your hair. The office for key pickup is in the gas staition which was weird and a little confusing. Other than that it was an ok stay for one night and literally only $80 with taxes.
- Jennifer A (8/5): - It is well priced, clean sheets and towels.
- Nayeem (2/5): - Even though it is a cheap place, I don't think this property should exist. There were large bugs flying inside. Had to kill. They don't clean the the bedding. There were hairs. The battmroom wasn't clean. I don't know why they clean so poorly. The area is gravel. Just not worth it, even for low price.
- Jesse (2/5): Next time I’m sleeping my car. - Honestly, terrible.
Checking in to as difficult - finally figured it out and the lady was less than helpful.
Room was SO hot. Air conditioner didn’t work. Had to unplug fridge because it was so loud. Bugs in the room, no screens on the window so couldn’t open them. Bed was uncomfortable. All of that I could get past but the worst part was it smelt like someone smoked a pack of cigarettes a day for 5 years in there.
- mark (8/5): - I little run down but comfortable
- Graeme (4/5): - The room was quite gross. It smelled so incredibly strongly of cigarettes. The headboards on the beds were very dusty. There were bugs in the room. I didn't feel great staying there with our young kids.
Staff were friendly.
- Mohith Kumar Varma (8/5): - Stayed with my family for 1 night (including a toddler). The property appears to be quite old and the general cleanliness inside the room could be a tad better. However, it was worth the money. Will visit again with family.
- Arvee (2/5): - They should close. It was dirty and disgusting.
- Liudmyla (2/5): - This hotel need to be close for renovation. I know that this is cheap but condition was terrible. Our room was dirty like noone didn't clean it for 6 month. It smells sigarets. Cannot breath.
On Expedia page there is photos made 10 years ago. In this case information not up to date.
- Scott Michael (6/5): You get what you pay for - You get what you pay for. O’l Frontier is OLD and run down.
- dave (6/5): - it is affordable, handy for motorcycle travelling and the location worked very well for my ride up to Mica dam
- Chris (8/5): - Room is clean!
- Corey (2/5): - While the place was sketchy upon arrival and the room was musty and smelled of cigarettes, the staff were very accomidating and kind and provided a refund.
Note, we did not end up staying the night.
