Guest Reviews
- HAMZAH (2/5): - Dirty, room given were not as requested
- Lim (2/5): - Very bad experience staying in this hotel, toilet horrible dirty, bed side lamp not functioning, bad smell in the room, worthless for RM250.00 per night, Expedia should send inspector to inspect the hotel room condition, i will never go back again, and also pass this bad experience to my friends.
- lanburn (8/5): Short break before continue our journey back to KL - Last minute call the hotel and luckily the room available for accommodating for 2 adults & 2 kids in family room come with 2 queen room.
Just stay for a quick break before continue our journey go back to KL next morning.
Room very specious, air conditioning was really good and feel cold at night. Our room facing at the menara alor setar and so quiet at night.
We had quick breakfast with nasi lemak and coffee, food tastes is perfect and the sambal so delicious. My kids only had a cereal and milk.
If you're looking a place to have a short break, just for relaxing, foods hunting and shopping. You can consider to stay here.
- ana_kecik (2/5): old hotel with unclean bedsheet - this chain hotel is one of the eldest hotels in Malaysia. the issue and the main problem was the hotel management always ignore if we complain about the hotel. when i stayed there, the room looks like clean, and tidy but when i sit on the bed, i can smell the bad odor. it was like not been clean/ wash for a quite long time. when i tried to sleep, i get sneezing alla the night. even i took the medicines for the antihistamine (allergic with germs). my skin get itchy. the experience was terrified. really not worth with money. the breakfast was basic. i knew the hotel was bad but at that time i got no choice cz all hotel was fully booked.
- Nomad17052807666 (2/5): The worst hotel - The worst ever hotel i have gone...feel not worth for paying money this kind hotel room. But one thing the staff are friendly .i will post few photo ...so u can know the reality of the hotel...As i have book the hotel with agoda which written got pool once we reach there ...we get to know it Majlis Perbandaran pool that this hotel sharing...feel very disappointed 😞😞😞
- fathiyy (6/5): Average hotel. - My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 days. We booked 2 rooms. Check in was ok. It is an average hotel. Nothing outstanding here. The rooms are basic and dated and in need of an upgrade. There was bottled water in the room, a kettle an 3 sachets of nescafe, sugar n cream. But alas, the fridge was not working. The tv screen was blurry. Time for a replacement.
The bathroom is mouldy n old, and the shower not functioning well. Breakfast was below expectation with not many choices and the taste was out.
Room service was a little slow. It took 1 hour to get our food from the time we ordered.
The only good thing is its location which is not far from the bustle of the city and yet in a quiet area.
- fahmenhamra (6/5): Affordable for budgeted travel. - Registration and check out process very fast. Staff were nice. Room prices is affordable for budget travel. Wifi was decent. Breakfast was okay, not much choices but for me as long as you have rice there somewhere, it's okay.
Cleanliness... Was so-so.
- Wanamalina (10/5): General Manager and Staff friendly - Warm welcome at front desk staff..Room is Good and comfort.hotel is located nearby stadium..Thank you to Hotel General Manager..His too friendly..also thank you to all Hotel staff during my stay at that hotel...
- JunLunOoi (2/5): Not my type of hotel that I would come to stay - Location is good, staff training insufficient for front desk because information given is insufficient for things we need to take note
for example, things not available in here, they will help you buy at your own expenses.
If stay here more than one day,
prepare your own toothpaste and toothbrush, kettle is dirty not useable,
bedsheet clean but dusty
Bring your slipper as floor is dusty,
There’s only as much as five channel of TV show(four Malay and one Chinese) available.
- nurhanihayatimarzuki (8/5): Value for money - I went there just for a Ramadhan buffet. It was great. Not sure how the room is as I never stay there. But the price is affordable. Love their nasi goreng nanas. I recommend this hotel as it is located in the heart of Alor Setar.
- albernardo_kung (8/5): Cheap and value for money - Hotel looks like it could do a makeover but it is nonetheless clean. Room is generally clean. Bed is clean and mattress is firm. Mineral water is provided and complementary breakfast is served for the first morning. At RM450 for a two nights stay ON CHINESE NEW YEAR EVE, and accomodating four people in a room, this is definitely a bargain compared to its competitors.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location is good, conveniently located nearby eating places and close to the city center
the room condition could've been better, booked 2 rooms, one of em has cigarettes smell lingering tho it's a non smoking room.
Room condition is worth paying for it's price however the bathroom condition is due for an upgrade.
It's a pleasant stay
- David (4/5): In need of a refurb! - Stayed 4 nights to attend a business seminar. Hotel is close to the airport but the rooms are very old and in need of refurbishment. There was no hot water on my last day so forced to have cold shower. The staff were friendly enough but the rooms are too old and run down for me to stay here again. WiFi was no good either!
- Gautam1948 (8/5): Decent, spacious hotel in an uncrowded area - I booked a room at this hotel from India, through my travel agent, for my short stay of two days at Alor Setar, and have no cause to regret my choice. It's not the most modern of hotels, but the room was clean, though the staff needed a bit of pointing out regarding the maintenance of the bathroom. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and helped me arrange my taxi for a visit to a smaller town and village towards the Thailand border, and helped in my negotiations with the taxi driver. The restaurant was good, with quality Malay cuisine and some Western desserts. there was live Malaysian music in the restaurant at mealtimes, because it was a weekend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok with the price - So..so..their breakfast menu..never changed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - the room is bigger than what i expected
- RIZAL (10/5): - Excellence
- Verified traveler (6/5): - 盥洗盤永遠漏水,地上水汪汪,有蟲蟲及璧蕊。。
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is nearby Alor Star 's well known landmarks
- Raf (8/5): - Good , reasonable
- MOHD RAZALI (10/5): Breakfast is also good - A nice place to stay with family. Enjoyed the swimming pool and close to interesting places in Alor Star ie food stall , museum, stadium etc.
- Praba (8/5): - Good breakfast spread, Rooms need some upgrade.
- Kamarul Ariffin (10/5): Nice cosy hotel - Spacious room, nice, clean and comfy. Breakfast was good. On WiFi need to be able to cover the whole room and stable.
- Amer Johari (8/5): - Good location and service. Please upgrade your room facilities such as power plug and toilet. Thanks
- Verified traveler (8/5): - everything is ok
- Vv (6/5): - The rooms are old And toilet Super small . Flusher not working well and the water in the toilet sink is brown in color. Breakfast selection so so and not much of selection. Staff are friendly .
- Jamal (10/5): - nice hotel with buffet breakfast, easy for accommodation not far away from city
- Verified traveler (4/5): - All the facilities at this hotel is old..please change
- Local (6/5): Ok la - No pressing service eventhough laundry form provided in the room and cleaner maybe forget to clean the fridge before we check in. Other than that, overall its an ok experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Facilities not well mantain need to change with new one even the towel looks bad
- Ad (4/5): Nearby to KFC - Got my towels at 6pm. I really did not understand why those towel too late. Receptionist @ housekeeping did not pick up phone call. TV channel not clear. Bed sheet not clean.
- Fazidah (6/5): Spacious - Will come again. Best place for shopping. No refrigerator to keep fresh. Slow water flow for hot shower
- AShukorA (2/5): Bad state of repair & poor service. - The Hotel is in a bad state of repair. The toilet is dirty. The shower is primitive at best. The towels; that is another story. Had to buy our own for fear that we may contract some skin diseases.
Staffs are unfriendly and appear to be lost. Despite checking out earlly (checked in at 12pm and checked out by 4pm same day) the staff continued to harrass the next day to ask us to check out.
Definitely not a place to spend even one night.
- mohd hamdi (2/5): terible hotel... - I attach the photo who want see the condition of room...really disapointed...please think twice
- mohdhamdifarkhans (2/5): really bad room - I book this hotel because near to my work...but I really disappointed with the room...all in picture..the room really bad, toilet also dirty, the pillow like very dirty and old..I pay for rm120...the chair not change..just repair and broke again...I.hope anyone book this.hotel..think twice
- Hamzah Fansuri (4/5): Budget hotel in city centre - The room is quite old and need refurbishment.the location is very central
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Need to improve ambience, bedsheet not fresh and pillow is too thin.
- premkumarramanathan (4/5): Very basic facility - Nothing fancy, the room felt stuffy, sheets were dirty. You can just stay for one night and can't wait to get out next morning. Poor facility but you pay what you get. Free breakfast but not tasty. It is located next to a Stadium, expect it to be noisy during games.
- lia (8/5): Nice hotel . - Breakfest need to upgrade. Refill the food. Nice hotel and clean.
- heakeec (4/5): A Very Rundown Hotel - It was our Business Trip during the Fasting Month.
The most unaccepted thing was their buffet breakfast. We came down to the breakfast area at 8am and the only thing left for us was only the Malay Fried Noodle and loaf of bread. There was a long food line but only one of the container has food, which was the cold Fried Noodle. They do have coffee and tea as well. But the coffee was placed in the container for too long and you can taste the rusty of the container in the coffee.
We took the family room with 1 king size bed & 1 single bed which cost us RM188. The room is dim and rundown. The bathroom was pathetic as the shower area is very small which you can't even fully extend your hands.
The only good experience we have was with the morning shift front desk staff who help with our check out. She was very polite and helpful and always with her warm smile on her face.
- travelparty (6/5): One Night and It's Decent for the Price - What can you expect from a double/twin-bedded room at RM120? Includes 2 ample buffet breakfast and free coffee and tea making in the room. Decent bed. Average cleanliness and room set up. Of course, with bathroom attached too. Ample and free car park space. All inclusive, it has to be a steal!
Again, one cannot be too critical for that price. For me, I'll stay there again.
- Ashley (4/5): Good location but poor facilities - Room not cleaned properly, facilities not upgraded (no trolley to carry luggages) and breakfast rather dissapointing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Kaki katil tiada 1
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tidy up, not clean up - They don't clean the room while they just tidy it up. They did not provide toilet paper rolls and tissue until I asked. The bathroom shelf was broken.
- Md Azmi (4/5): Senderhana - Sesuai dgn harganya
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Please upgrade service about F&B and Service Room.
- Jo (10/5): Good - First time experience staying at Seri Malaysia in Alor Setar. Good n convenient
- zam (6/5): Very good - Very good...nice hotel...no swimming pool...food very good...
- Verified traveler (4/5): Moderate Hotel - Much of the facilities has been taken out eg tissue, shampoo. Old furniture bed, wardrobe etc. small toilets and a bit cramp.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Need to upgrade rooms....abit rundown. - the first impression when I entered the room was this humid and stale smell probably from the room carpet....had to use external source to spray fragrance in the room.
- the house keepers are friendly.
- stayed on the 2nd floor and had to carry own 3 luggages using the stairs during check in and out...although elevators are not in the design, hotel mgmt should have alternative approach to help the guest.. I reserved my comments about recommending to others...
- lina (8/5): Convinience for family near to town alor star - Overall ok.. .near to town and easy to buy food. Kfc just walk only and 24 hours. food in hotel also ok .. Parking and wifi provided..no need password..
- Simon (2/5): Not going to stay in any of Hotel Seri Malaysia - The bathing area is so small that my child refuse to take a bath. The toilet is dirty. The toilet bowl is too near to the sink. No toothbrush and toothpaste provided. This hotel is more of a hostel than to consider as a hotel. This hotel require serious upgrading and improved service. The rooms are not as good as the image of the lobby. Decided not to stay in any of the Seri Malaysia hotels anywhere in Malaysia.
- Nina Rie (2/5): Facilities & cleanliness - - Breakfast foods were not fresh. Noodles had been served without the standard quality of food e.g our noodles were full with green skins of the beans sprouts.
- No ironing in rooms. Ironing facility had been served at the corridor of rooms' with unclean corridors' floor.
- the Receiptionist of hotel had never been checked my booking until I reached in the hotel and told her that I had booked the room by using Expedia.
- jayzee652016 (6/5): CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND CONVENIENCE - Room was clean and equips with all the basic facilities. Very convenience as it is located in the town area it self. Price was just right for the room booked. Staff was friendly. Restaurant served buffet breakfast with adequate choices for local travelers.
- danishazahar (8/5): good location...walk in distance to stadium and 5 minutes to Pekan Rabu and Masjid Zahir - warm welcome from the front desk...good breakfast....room is average and comfort for sleep. Recommendation for budget travelers, family....
Those travel from KL/East/South can stay as a one stop centre before proceed to Langkawi or Thailand.
Overall okay with the quiet environment and has a room service facilities, biggest parking area.
- ZULBASRI (6/5): - It's an interesting and comfortable stay at the hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bilik terlalu suram, bilik air kecil, lokasi tidak menarik dekat stadium, siaran tv tidak jelas utk semua saluran kecuali tv1. Sarapan pagi biasa saja berbanding harga yg dibyr RM180 utk family room dgn 1 queen dan 1 single.
- DZAHIRUDDIN (8/5): Hotel Seri Malaysia - Selesa dan tenang
- Qistina (2/5): Elderly friendly - Situation of room was too far for an elderly. I have to climb stairs n the room was at far end. Could not watch any tv channels n the fridge was not usable. I suggest u locate us at lower level room even if we book online. U should give us choice when book on line
- Mohamed Hatta (4/5): - Carpet n furnishings in d room old
- Nomadic-umph (6/5): Budget hotel, but it works well - A large and well established hotel complex, the rooms are a good size, chalet/studio style and was clean.
You do get noise from people walking past due to the gap under your door though.
Swimming pool is a good size and a great asset to this place... but not deep.
Breakfast had a good choice, lunch was very good and the staff were almost helpful.
(had to chase up a new remote to get the A/C working several times.)
but overall no real issues.
Oh, forget wifi in the room, bandwith is poor and the whole town has the password!!!
- zainal (8/5): - Sentimental touch as muslim.
- gangstertown (6/5): The Best Hotel in Alor Setar with cheapest price. - Seri Malaysia Alor Setar give the best price ever . I was stay 2 days on Aidilfitri with my family. The service , the food was great . There are many choices of food. I'm the food lover . I like to try everything .The taste of food also great . Lontong , nasi lemak is the one of the breakfast menu. The fountain in front the porch to me is an attraction for kids. it also placed in center of Alor Setar . It also near to the famous Laksa in Kedah, Laksa Teluk Kecai . Also near to Shopping Complex. If i not mistaken in Ramadan there were the biggest " Bazaar Ramadan" in Alor Setar beside the hotel and the most famous menu is "Ayam Tempayan and Teh Bunga Madu". I will stay and try the most amazing thing again next year.
- upTownGal88 (8/5): Decent Hotel - Value for Money - Third trip to Alor Setar on a job. This trip we stayed at Seri Malaysia Alor Setar. Travelling on a tight budget, the room rate incl dinner for breaking fast was really worth it. Really enjoyed the traditional Malay food. Went window shopping nearby the Stadium at a night market nicknamed 'Uptown'...hihihi... Lots of items from nearby Padang Besar at prices that require bargaining!! Was surprised that the Hotel served 'Sahur' with a good buffet spread compared to other hotels that serve takeaways during Sahur. I will definitely stay here on my next visits.
