Guest Reviews
- C3046NGah (4/5): Disgusting - Avoid this hotel.
Staf are friendly however I've nothing good to say about my 3 days 2 nights stay here.
1st room stinks like I've never experienced, roaches in the room, leaking shower and the smell of cigarette smoke wafting through the toilet ventilation fan.
Changed to a different room the next day cos off earlier said problems.
Slightly better but the bed stinks of urine or the likes.
Can't do much cos I returned to the hotel late and was too tired.
Complaining makes no difference cos all you'll get is a sympathetic stare.
AVOID THIS MISERY. THERE ARE A TON OF OTHER HOTELS IN JB.
*Stayed here cos of meeting conducted in this hotel.
- AFAK25 (6/5): Hotel Seri Malaysia JB - It was a one night stay before we return to Klang Valley after spending the long weekend in JB.
Its attractions are the price point and proximity to Larkin Sentral and the good food in Larkin and Kampung Melayu Majidee area. The hotel itself is a bit rundown even though all the basic room facilities like hot shower, aircon, TV and coffee making facility are available.
Speaking of aircons, room 245 aircon was blowing warm air even after a technician came to fix it. Luckily we managed to move to another room with functioning aircon. But unfortunately the TV was blank. Couldn't be bothered to change rooms again.
- 548AndrewD (8/5): Great location - It is a brief 10 minutes' walk from the Larkin bus terminal. The hotel is modest but it is clean and has reasonable facilities. No elevator and WiFi is weak in the room, but otherwise it is good especially given the affordable price!
- amirasyrafn (4/5): Poor food service - Hi sir/madam,
I was here to attend a seminar. While im here your meal is not satisfied.
Hi tea :-
The noodle is verry salty.
And the other day.
Lunch:-
White rice are not cook well . Some are raw and some cook.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Free parking, Lot of space. Room interior disappointed.
- SyafiqHasnan (6/5): Hotel Seri Malaysia Johor - Hi. If you want to stay here please look at room first. To management please keep the room clean. Toilet smells
Parking very easy at evening but hard to find in night. No lift or escalator. Its ok. Staff very friendly. Breakfast delicious.
- aileen (6/5): - internet is weak and available at the lobby only
breakfast is only for vegetarian. no meat at all even chicken
hallway a little bit dim
lobby guest area i i hope can improve more.
- Sallehuddin (6/5): - This property is ok just nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Goodjob when you set priority to your custimer complaint and act fast. We check in late night, feel super tired, then a problem across in our room and we get to change to another room. We are happy for the service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Value for price - comfortable and recomend friends
- Noriani (4/5): STAY for the HOTEL RATE - We booked for 2 family rooms, of which we had indicated our preference of having an adjoining room. the best they can provide is to have an opposite or side by side room. Instead, we were given the opposite end of the hotel. It was not an excuse of giving us the last rooms as we had walked in to leave our luggage at 11am and game back from shopping at 11pm .
Room 366 water pressure was too low that it couldnt even heat up the water heater so we had a cold shower at 12 midnight and in the morning. we had to pump in the water in the water tank just to flush the toilet!
We do not expect much from the breakfast table, comparing the price we paid for the hotel. So it's reasonable.
Lightings to the hotel should brighten up
All staffs having a bad day should not be attending front counters. None of the 3 staffs had a smiling face .
- AZLIN (8/5): - This is a family hotel, so I felt secured
- Low (6/5): Budget hotel with mini buffet included. - No wifi on that day and whatever is requested for bedding is not arranged.
Breakfast Buffet is not alot of choices no wonder is that pricing, but taste of the food is still not too bad.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bad:
1. No wifi in the guest room. Only in lobby. Can make your day boring because no wifi in room.
2. The hotel is old. The room is old. The furniture is old. The bed is old. The bed linen is thin. The carpet is dirty and smelly. Tv is old. Channel is ok but only local no movie channel.
3. The aircond is very slow to cold your room because it is old.
4. The power plug is not beside your bed. It is at tv which is far because the room is so big and spacious.
5. My room had a cockroach and had to call front desk to spray at it.
6. Toilet is small and the shower will spray at walls because it is placed high.
7. No swimming pool.
8. The breakfast is not what you expected. They only served fried rice, fried mee, porridge, sambal, lontong, mee celup, bread, cereal, coffe n tea, orange and guava juice and a cook making egg. But the cook said she cannot make scrambled eggs because the hotel doesn’t allow it. Fried rice ok. The food is boring if you ask me.
9. Staff is quiet and some are friendly. Doing their own thing.
The good:
1. Room is big n spacious. Have coffee round table n chairs.
2. Got iron n iron board but maybe not all rooms. Got wardrobe.
3. All government servants love to stay at this hotel. They play golf. Good for hotel.
I sincerely ask you to stay away from this hotel. Spend at other good hotel
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Should close this hotel
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Ok.. We are just not that happy with breakfast services. We came at 9.30 am,, 1/2 half an hour bfore breakfast end, there are no longer food and so many dirty dishes not picked .
Very small entrance to walk due to too many tables and chairs at small rooms.
There are another room not open.
Perhaps to be well planned, since this is a long festival public holidays.
Foods are tasteless.
Nothing is good and daily repeat. We got bored for the next following breakfast.. Bad chef and bad staff for breakfast time
- iiTEBUii (6/5): An average stay - Just an average stay with my family. The breakfast was decent enough. The location is quite good. About 30 mins from city centre by car. Theres a nearby bus station with a lot of eateries which really helps.
- Nur Wafiyyah (6/5): So-so - No fridge, no swimming pool, asked for 2 single beds but got 1 double bed.
- hasif_saidatul (8/5): Affordable Hotel with Comfy Bed - The staffs are helpful. The room was okay. The bed and the pillows were comfortable. There are free toiletries but no toothbrush. But for me it was acceptable. The hotel has a lot of parking spaces.
The cleanliness of the shower area need to be improved.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - make sure conditional phone it's good in the room and please level put the list number for client enter come.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Please update the equipment with the latest version and add a wifi
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Not applicable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Like the breakfast and the staff is very polite
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The first time we enter the room there was a funny smell maybe because of the old wooden furniture used. Air condition took sometime to cool down the room.
- Hamzah (8/5): Will come back. - Velue for money spent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Easy to find the hotel. But didn't have lift, the water in the toilet too slow and insufficient plug. However its still okay for a one night stay.
- aHMJu (4/5): - response to guest request should be improved.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - near to restaurant and food center
- Nuaim (8/5): - nice hotel
- Zambri (10/5): - It was comfortable staying there, F&B can be improve more specially the breakfast buffet. Wi fi signal were very poor even though I'm staying at 1st floor. Overall I satisfied with the service.
- WANTAUFIQ (10/5): - Very nice and cozy place to stay, and the staff are very friendly ! 1000% recommended !
- sharing_caring (6/5): Satisfying with pros and cons - Was here for 3 days in room 117 ground floor and it was pretty good. Though I love old charm, the hotel seriously needs upgrade in some areas, the shower was way too small and the sink beside the toilet was leaking making the bathroom wet all the time which is why I'm not able to give better credits and my only unsatisfaction throughout my stay. The beds were comfy and cozy and the room is very very clean, spacious but had a little musty smell. They should reinstall the carpets or at least air out the rooms constantly.
Location was nice and quiet unlike other budget hotels nearby where you can still hear receptionists joking loud and a little noisy. At night it might seem a little shady so I advice women going for a walk out of the hotel vicinity, please go with your friends or a male partner to be safe. The variety of local breakfast were very satisfactory. Besides that, staffs were courteous, helpful and considerate esp when I explained a late check out.
If I'm coming back to Johor, I'll definitely come to this hotel again but making sure my bathroom isn't leaking no more.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bad one - No Wi-Fi, toilet blocked.
- AhmadFMohdA (10/5): SUITABALE FOR SHORT TRIPS! - Location:-
5 mins walk from Bus Stand Larkin. Very convenient. Super easy to find. Just go out from Bus Stand Larkin back entrance and walk around 2 minutes you can see the hotel sing.
Room:
Very clean and tidy. No complains from the bed to the general upkeep of the room. Worth then what we paid for.
Toilet:
Clean. Originally didn’t expect much due to others mixed review. But the toilet is really quite clean. The hot water is working very well.
Staff:
Friendly and easy to talk to.
Breakfast:
Credit to CHEF & staff. I'm also take a lunch (under promotion 'Mangkuk Tingkat') - WoW! Superb!
Overall: 8/10
The points are minus from the wifi. Wifi only can use at the lobby. Suggestion should have at every floor with rate RM100++ . Other that. Will return in the future. Recommended for short trips.
- abdul (6/5): Ok because near town and facilities - Ok and good. Breakfast good and acceptable. Pleasant stay
- James (8/5): Old-fashioned hotel with plenty of trees and good - Have stayed here many times, enjoying the ambience, the balance between predominantly Malay clientele with fidelity to Islamic requirements and a more International clientele make wrlcome.
- Mazlah (8/5): - The room provided was good. But the breakfast need to add more choice of food.
- Mohd Nor (8/5): Nice hotel - Overall, the hotel is okay and comfortable. Away from city's hustle and bustle.
- Roszila (6/5): Value for money - Ok for its price with breakfast included. Breakfast also not bad. The only need to improve is its tv channels.
- Asiah (6/5): The parking area should be upgraded e.g. Painting - It was average overall. It was just a transit for us traveling to Singapore.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - For the price it is reasonable esp it came with breakfast..the food also not bad at all. The welcome drinks served at lobby also nice. Only the tv channel.a bit disappointing
- mila (6/5): nearby stadium - the hotel is nice for it price and nearby stadium.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It was just ok, more works and effort to improve the overall customer satisfaction
- azmi (6/5): Small bathroom - Small bathroom. Feeling of old hotel. Poor breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - aircond filter was too dirty. I cleaned up on my own.
- Farhana008 (6/5): Just fine - It was a last minute decision to stay here because we need to attend a funeral near this neighborhood the next morning. For the senior citizen,it was quite an effort to walk from the lobby to the rooms because the lift is not available. Our room was spacious for three persons. The furniture and bathroom in the room quite old. While the buffet breakfast mostly Malaysian food amd tasty. The staffs also friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Outdated Facilities. - Most of the facilities are very poor
No wifi except at lobby
Breakfast foods like kampung kedai makan
No variety...No vegitables such as salad tomato others...except watermelon.
There are many more.....
Really hope HSM will improve all those weakness
TQ
- Zaft (10/5): Worth it - Near JB Town. Eventhough, the room and design very old, but still okay to stay. Very comfort and breakfast quite good.
Rate per night very reasonable.
Late check in at 3am cause need to travel from KL for 4 hours. Staff very friendly.
- yemita (4/5): Hotel location is good for travellers. - Only one important thing that i dislike is theres no wifi connection in the room.,no hanger in the bathroom and the coversheet for tha bed are outdated so its time to make a change in the room(overleaf),its look like a budget hotel. The hotel outlook is like a resort but need to improve the room interior. The location is good for travellers.
- HuszainiH (6/5): Old hotel with Malaysian charm - Very old hotel but clean hotel with mini garden in the centre. Big room but old furniture..as long as it was clean ok for me. Meeting rooms for seminar was big with ample parking space.. basic breakfast but very near to Larkin Sentral. Good for seminars on a budget
- zainun (4/5): Convenient - Ok but the hotel need to upgraded
- namk07 (4/5): Say no more - Room needs major refurbished. For RM150 per night can find other hotel better than this.
The location is fantastic if you want some privacy but need transport if you want to go anywhere. No walking distance attractive places.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Ok
- robert (4/5): below standard hotel close to bus station - the room needed major maintenance. toilet, shower, and handbasin leaking, about half of lights not working, aircon barely adequate, previous occupant had been smoking in the room and ash was still scattered about, ie the room was not adequately cleaned.
A staff member entered the room without our knowledge and left the window open to try and get rid of the smell.
- kem (4/5): Cheap hotel service - Not worth to stay. Very damp and quite old. Furniture and tv is in very bad condition. No wifi service provided
- Verified traveler (4/5): - 2 nights stay but slept well.
Breakfast can be improve.
- Abdul kadir (8/5): - No wifi it bad for us.
- James (6/5): Old-fashioned hotel near to Larkin bus depot - The hotel is primarily geared to middle-class Malay families and others, like myself, who want basic amenities without fuss or over-reliance on air-conditioning (windows could be opened). No drinking water is provided in rooms, the facilities are fairly basic, and few of the staff speak or understand English very well. The hotel GM, Tengku Hassan, maintains a good ethos of friendly but not specially competent staff. I enjoyed the hotel primarily for its abundance of trees and homeliness of ambience. The food proved to be of good quality, halal of course, and cooked on site.
- amoy_fender (6/5): Just Okay - Quite hard to find and far from town. Need to walk long way to the room. Normal room, basic room amenities and facilities. Normal buffet breakfast but still okay. Not much parking space. Basically, just okay.
- Mohd Fauzi (4/5): Poor maintained hotel - The hotel was poorly maintained. Carpets, mattress, wardrobe are ancient. Not worth with the price. A'la carte orders from the cafe takes forever (approx 1 hour wait for a plate of nasi goreng, seriously).
- Kapt-RMN (6/5): Secluded but popular among locals - This is an old hotel but well maintained. Although it is in the heart of the city but it is a bit secluded surrounding with trees and quite residence. The room is adequate with basic amenities. Stayed in Room 204 - the bed and the pillows seems were quite new. This is a budget 3-star hotel so one shouldn't expect much from it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): What you pay is what you get - Room is OK.
Bed is OK.
Price is OK.
- HolidaysHH (2/5): A night to remember - Stayed at this hotel for work, bad management. My room seems to be off with very damp smell. Need major refurbishment.
When I returned to rest late , I just could not sleep due to smell and unclean room. I had to leave the hotel and actually slept better in my car.
Went back early the next day to pack and check out as fast as possible.
- yazid (4/5): bad stay - room was not clean. bed itchy when sleep and morning call was not done when was informed to do so. breakfast was poor choice.
- Verified traveler (2/5): not good. - The staff not really helpful. The 3pin plug malfunction, for 2 days nothing being done even I have lodged report. Will not stay in this hotel again.
- simonl51 (4/5): Need improvement - Hotel in need of major refurbishment. Interior looks very tired and worn. Was disappointed with the noisy aircon, creaking bed, no lift or even porters to help us with our luggage. Need to take a taxi to get some Chinese food. Within walking distance of Larkin bus terminal. Breakfast was basic but acceptable.
- Tanjung_Gading (6/5): Just Average Hotel - I stay at this hotel from 2/08/2015 till 4/08/2015. My room number is 116. Overall the service is just average. They don't provide room service as i'm being told that they are facing shortage of staff.
Room is just ok but a bit smelly. Only 2 pillow provided and the pillow is not to normal hotel standard. No small towel provided.
However, I'm really disappointed when i come back after my business meeting in the evening my room door is open and not properly closed after the housekeeping tidy up my room! Even though there is only my personal belongings but they should put more concern and be more responsible to ensure the safety of their customers and their belongings. This is so unacceptable for me. I hope the hotel management will ensure this will not happen again.
- Shuhada2015 (2/5): POOOOOORRRRRR SERVICE!!!! - I check-in at Hotel Seri Malaysia Johor Bahru last week. The front office guy not friendly at all..no smile and no greeting. Maybe i think his tired but after he gave me the room without towel he not even apologize but ask me to wait at reception counter for more than 10 minutes. When i ask him to be fast he raise voice to me said he alone at counter. Now i knew his attitude very rude! To this boy please be courteous, more sensitive to your guest and be humble! His name AFIQ.
- 469chink (6/5): SERI MALAYSIA Johor Bahru - The food is the only drawback for this hotel. Its breakfast food selection needs to be improved. The location is ideal for those with transport, lots of free parking. Even if no transport, the Larkin Terminal is just a 5 min walk round the corner.
