Guest Reviews
- Badli Hisham Bin (6/5): - Ok . The staff at counter need to improve
- Sunita (8/5): - Nice
- Norrahimah (10/5): - Near to my hometown
- dharroshan (4/5): Horrible Experience - First time heading to Kepala Batas and upon searching only hotel available was Seri Malaysia. The hotel is totally run down and never again. Leaking marks ..oh ghoshhhh. The hotel needs urgent attention for proper maintenance & cleaning esp the carpets. Bathrooms need attention too
- ngyuanlee (8/5): My first visit to HSM at Kepala Batas - It was gratifying to find that the hotel had lifts since most HSMs did not, except in Kuala Terengganu. While there was no swimming pool or garden or gym, the view from the room was satisfying and the lobby itself was classy. Room amenities were adequate and whatever was lacking, it only took a phone call and withing minutes, service was rendered!
Also many thanks to Cik Farhana at Reception for her very efficient service during check in and during our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast is awesome!
- dyaasy (4/5): Stay Away - One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had from a mainstream brand. Dated, that is very much the initial impression you get. Do they care? Obviously not. Broken, would be the second. From the plumbing, to the electronics. Dirty, can be seen in their stained towels. Bleach is not a concept they're aware of or care about apparently.
I get that Malaysian standards are subpar by default, since Malaysians themselves seem perfectly willing to accept the substandard. But consider that you are paying for a hotel experience, at its respective price. For what I've gotten here, I'd have been better off saving money with a similar experience at a budget hotel. Some of which have been above and beyond what can be found here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Okay condition
- Arif (8/5): - Strategic location. A lot of shops nearby.
- keihahn (10/5): Comfy room - Booked triple room for a night. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Clean room & bathroom. Even this is an old hotel but they did care about the cleanliness. Breakfast were good esp noodle (mee rebus). Even the room service menu (esp kampung fried rice) super delicious. Thumbs up for hotel’s chefs. Location were great. You can find shop lots nearby but hard to find restaurants. There’s were intercity bus station in front of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I would like to see a fitness room with a treadmill or Elliptical machine etc. It is so hot out, and no clear place to go for a run, an indoor option would be good.
- Thulan (8/5): Good stay - On the bed..something are bits me..can't sleep
- Asya2Adly (8/5): Nice & Comfy - This is one of the best Hotel Seri Malaysia that i've stayed. Very clean and comfy size room. The breakfast spread was good too. Many choices. Locationwise its walking distance to shops and some eateries. Its also opposite the Rapid/local bus station. Staff were friendly and would totally recommend to stay.
- Nurul (8/5): - Nice location. Might as well put a hairdryer in the room. And also add some more toiletries like toothbrush, cotton buds etc so that it worth the penny we spent for a night stay.
- riverwaf (8/5): Generally satisfied - The staff were friendly and the room was good.
4 rooms for improvement: Use some sort of insect repellent to repel the flies from the dining place and the mosquitoes from the lobby and lift. I got a few mosquito bites in the lobby.
Perhaps, the hotel could write to the local mosque not to use the loudspeaker for other than the call for prayer (adhan). There was a clear directive from the state mufti about this. I also did not like the music played by the hotel in the mornings when I am trying to sleep.
The internet speed was poor about 2mbps for download and the TV reception was no good. I had to stream the FIFA World Cup with my own internet and laptop.
- Dz (10/5): Dated, but nice hotel and staff - Nice hotel near to bank, 7e, and market
Staff is very welcoming
- sudheep (10/5): very close to shops. near to tesco. near to eatery - the hotel's staff are very friendly and helpful and nice room with good view
- MOHD HAFIZ (8/5): just fine and comfortable - Overall ok.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - menarik... sabar melayan walaupun saya check in pukul 1 pagi
- Lokaman (10/5): Hotel Pilihan - Pilihan penginapan terbaik di Kepala Batas
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean, comfortable and prime location.
- n00raishahs (8/5): Comfortable and value for money. - Booked this hotel for my conference in USM Kepala Batas and I had a really pleasant stay here. Value for money, comfortable room, helpful staffs, and great breakfast. The hotel is situated in the middle of shops area. You can go for sight-seeing local products or eat some local food (the beef noodle soup stall is located near the hotel is really nice).
- aziziazmin (8/5): Customer friendly, very helpful staff - So, I booked a night at this hotel thru @g0d@ only to find out that I got the WRONG check-in DATE! All has been paid. I was supposed to stay earlier but the online booking system automatically changed the date (I'm guessing due to unavailability of the room at that time).. Silly me also because I never checked the dates properly upon confirming the booking. ANYWAY, days has passed and I just came to the hotel to get a receipt for the booking for company claim purpose (because I have already paid for it). Guess what? the hotel staff told me that she will ask the manager to see if she can arrange a night's stay there to compensate for my loss, for FREE (of course technically I've already paid for that although I did not check in prior). So, the manager quickly confirm and I got my room at that day.. Thank you Seri Malaysia Kepala Batas for that. The room is clean, cozy, spacious and somewhat modern comparing to other Seri Malaysia Hotel that I have stayed before. Views are stunning. Very large window. Good wifi connection. Although the pillow is abit thin and uncomfortable. There's not much choices on the breakfast menu either. But anyway, i would definitely stay here again if i had the chance since this is the best hotel here.
- TAN (6/5): Comfortable room but poor wifi connection - The room was still ok but the wifi connection was terrible and we couldn't even use WhatsApp... I was being informed that there was some network issues and they are trying to rectify it which is totally unacceptable and something that they need to work on...
- James (8/5): Good location n clean rooms - Visiting relatives up North
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Good hotel but limited choice for breakfast & dining.
- Sufey (6/5): Average hotel for the ONLY hotel in Kepala Batas - Location was convenient, right smack in the middle of shops and restaurants. Parking was aplenty and free. Not sure if it was safe, did not see any guards. No hairdryer in the room. When I called to ask, I was told it was only upon request. I waited for my hairdryer but it never arrived, and when I called back, no answer. Room was clean, comfortable. Room service menu was decent. Breakfast was limited spread. Overall, staff was friendly even though they made it very difficult for me to get my refund - I had decided to check out early, and their excuse was because I paid online using credit card, therefore it was not possible for them to grant me a refund. I had to deal with Expedia myself which wasn't very helpful of them.
- lia (6/5): Accessible to all - A unexpected travel to Penang and visit my grandmother.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel near to the shopping mall - Nice place and easy to have lunch. Easy to buy food and near to the bus station
- KumaranSukego (10/5): VIP treatment - I was there to conduct 2 days training. As I walked to the front desk, 2 ladies welcomed me with a genuine smile, and they were we warm.
Then, I was invited by the hotel manager, Mr. Santhanam to have tea with him. Afterward he personally ushered me to my room together with another staff, Akmal.
What I felt was even they were not a 5 star hotel but their genuine willingness to serve like really impressed me.
I though, that was it but when got into my room the was a welcoming gift with a letter from the manager. Not only that, there was a fruit basket as well. I never expected this from a 2 star hotel.
I was very happy staying there for 3 nights. Whenever I request for something, they respond to it with smiles. I loved it.
I must give credit to their technician, En Syaiful, who was very accommodation to all my request, even though I was very 'cerewet' - fussy.
Really didn't expect such a high standard of service in a small town hotel. Highly recommend for those who like to be treated like VIP in a hotel. I would like to thank all of you at Seri Malaysia, Kepala Batas and I am looking forward for my next trip there.
- Azmeer (6/5): Run down but acceptable - Pillows are not hotel like, breakfast was good, room size was big. Overall cost effective but amenities needs to be upgraded
- RoslanTangah2208 (8/5): Booked Early - Been there for my business trip. The food was delicious and indeed lot of choices. It was a walk-in check-in to the hotel. Because of not so many hotel here, this hotel became the main choice for visitors to stay.
- klyeh (4/5): Not as great - Sad to say being the major hotel in town doesn't mean slacking in maintaining the quality can be compromised. It's rather pricy I could say for the room quality they provide considering the low living cost area. They don't even provide disposal toiletries like tooth brush! The breakfast wasn't something that I could be proud of to share either. After all there are also many shops around to serve you with food at a low price for a decent taste.
- MOHD BUSTAMAN (8/5): - sarapan pagi memang best n puashati, keadaan family room boleh la kebersihan ok tp pemandangan cuma tingkap ke tingkap saja n mmg xmenarik... parking kenderaan bertingkat sedikit mencabar utk pemandu baru
- Fauzan (8/5): Great for Value - great for value! bed and carpet is clean... i would highly recommended Sri Malaysia Kepala Batas if you are in town. Being in the center of Kepala Batas make it easy to find =) For 3-4star hotels they are worth to stay with!
- shah (6/5): Good for short stay - The hotel located in a small kepala batas town. The parking entrance is a bit narrow. The room is spacious since I was given a Family room. However the air conditioning system was not working so well. The TV channel and reception also was not so good.
- hafizalm4 (6/5): average stay - Friendly receptionist.
Wifi sometimes bad, sometimes ok for check and sending email.
Room is average with some odor.
Bathroom are clean.
Breakfast are average.
A lot of shoplot near the hotel.very easy if u need anything.
- TelarisExplorer (4/5): The Only Option - This is my only option to stay since most of the hotel is fully booked cause by public holiday.
Located in centre of Kepala Batas town, very typical Seri Malaysia hotel with very lame lobby and entrance. The hotel main entrance is just in front of Kepala Batas Bus Station, very near to major local bank (ATM machine), 7 Eleven, and KFC restaurant.
Price is not up to standard.
Towel, soap and shampoo as survenir. But No swimming pool, toothbrush and wi-fi.
- 2KM from main highway (Plus Highway) exit Bertam.
- 300M to Shell petrol station.
- hasnie (6/5): my one nite stay - I can say its on average : satisfactory hotel. The room is comfortable but the water heater was not functioning as I did not want hot water but not able to control the water temperature of the shower. due to the hot weather (mind you its almost 40 degress) you need to switch on the air conditioning and let the room cools down before you can enjoy the room. My electronic card key was having problem as not able to open the room door for about a dozen tries. So do check the room & the card key as it is quite embarrasing to keep on calling the reception for assistance.
- ecam (2/5): low class hotel - ok
- eyedeal95 (8/5): simple and nice - it may not be a luxury or high end hotel, but with the reasonable price, i did get value for money.. nice room, good location, nice breakfast.. all in all.. worth the money spend.. recommended for business and simple leisure travelers.. not for romantic couple tho..
- Yong Hin (8/5): good - overall satisfied
- Khairul Aswat (6/5): Just so-so - Very old furniture. Electrical had some problem with master key. Need to apply some enginnering technique..
Good for short stay but not so cheap. It could be better than this. Over, just so-so.
- Shafiq_Ghazie (2/5): Not worth the price with bare minimal service - Was here for 2 nights last November 2015.
Took 2 rooms.
Lobby was below average; small with not many seating sofa or chair to relax.
The rooms...
Small room...
Toilet was dirty; just soap and shampoo provided; are you kidding me?
You charged RM190 per night/per room and this is what we get?
Oh....
LED TV with so little channel.
The in-room WIFI was a nightmare; cannot be connected; epic waste...
Its time for a major overhaul for this hotel...
Breakfast next morning?
Hahaha major laughing stock; the staff at the coffee house was incompetence and blur...
Spread menu/choices was bad.
Typical 3 star hotel would able to provide better food choices.
The taste; dont make me start; worse ever..
Parking inside the building was ok.
Anyway; if your here; better you eat outside; there are many shops, restaurants and even KFC and 7-eleven around the block.
So you can survive.
- Jiun Shyan (8/5): - Overall it was a pleasant experience to stay in Hotel Seri Malaysia. However, it would be better if there is more variety of food in Delima Restaurant (morning breakfast) and the cleanliness of restaurant still have room for improvement.
- Abirami (8/5): Helpful receptionist - Receptionist was very helpful and catered to us very well. Didn't get her name
- Abirami (6/5): - The receptionist was very helpful. Couldn't get her name.
- Verified traveler (4/5): location - ok
- Elda (6/5): Pleasant Stay - Pleasant stay during Hari Raya. Although breakfast menu can be improved.
- Verified traveler (10/5): worth it - Worth it
- Justin (8/5): Quality stay - Nice hotel, location is far away though.
- Nurul (6/5): Pandangan terhadap hotel - Perkhidmatan makanan & keadaan bilik baik cuma perkhidmatan laundery tidak memuaskan kerana call beberapa kali utk memdapatkan iron tapi talian tidak berjawab. Juga tiada pengering rambut di bilik.
- rosnani (8/5): Nice place, affordable price - Spent 4 days 3 nights in SM Kepala Batas. The hotel is quite new and staff are very helpful. There are shops and restaurants around the hotel. There's a bank and petrol station nearby .There's free wifi in the room.
- Nila (2/5): poor - well, we were booked the most expensive room available on that hotel, too bad & unbelievable there is no WiFi in room (as mentioned on hotel website), so I felt been cheated. the telephone in the room is not working, trying to called the receptionist to fix it but no one attend our phone called..so we have to used our own cellphones instead....if only we have an optional choice @ another hotel we would like to do so (as we need 3rooms)
- Verified traveler (8/5): Worth for money - Overall is worth for money and better than what we expect. convenient, clean and helpful. Breakfast okok only. The only concern is parking, they mentioned free parking but basically park at your own risk, no security.
- Dan and Rose (8/5): A convenient place to stay - This is the best hotel to stay when you happen to visit the area especially for a family.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs improvement on Cleanliness of toilet - Needs improvement on Cleanliness of toilet in the room.
I always recommend my frens from out station to have their stay in our town where is Kepala Batas. Toilet & shower is an important issue for comfortable stay. So I hope that the hotel management wil pay attention on this. Thanks
- abdullah (8/5): a worth trip north - It was good considering the hotel was in town and close to my client premise I was dealing with. Parking space was a bit limited and you have to carefully manouver your car - sharp bend
- omecool20 (8/5): Value For Money and Comfort - It is nice, comfortable for both solo and family travel. Breakfast is excellent and value for the room charges. The hotel are generally helpful and very attentive. They do their best to accommodate customer queries, and complaints. We have stayed here a few times in the past few years and have never been disappointed. It is centrally located, convenient to travel to locations in Penang and Kedah.
- muizrahman (8/5): nice hotel - For Malaysians who traveled in Penang especially,Kepala Batas may try to stay in this hotel because the price is cheap and affordable and clean room according to the price paid.Coming here can try Nasi Arab confronted the Post Office.Thank You..
- fuzzy_l0gic (8/5): Value for money - My family and I stayed here during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri (Aug 2013) and found the hotel great value for the price that was paid. Close to the Bertam PLUS highway exit, the hotel is nestled in the middle of Pasar Dato Kailan and surrounded by shops. There is a KFC which is opened 24 hours so you'll never go hungry in the middle of the night and also a 7-11 convenience shop nearby, all with less than 5 minutes walking from the hotel.
The rooms were clean with modern designs and plenty of storage place. Limited TV channels. The toilet was average but well lit and comes with hot water and air vents (important for air-cond rooms:))
The breakfast spread was decent with plenty of choices. My only comment about it is that the plates could have been much cleaner.
Like: Location and food from room service
Dislike: Ramps to parking too narrow
- nadiahkimie (8/5): A Decent Stay - I've stayed at Hotel Seri Malaysia Kepala Batas twice so far. It's located in a square of shops that are pretty busy all day.
The hotel is fairly new, and the rooms are styled with a contemporary design. It's quite pleasant, although the materials are not of the highest quality and are starting to show signs of wear and tear. The rooms are clean though, and for some reason, have many cupboards! The bathroom is clean and basic. I think a few more hooks may be useful.
The location is good if you've got business or work, or are exploring the Kepala Batas or nearby areas, but not so much if you're a traveller wanting to visit Penang. I've only done overnights here. The tv channels are fairly limited, and there doesn't seem to be internet - wireless or otherwise! This may be an issue for some travelers.
Overall, it's a decent stay. It's not a luxe hotel, but it serves its purpose and I would stay here again if needed.
