Guest Reviews
- Michael (6/5): - Only spent short time ok for our needs
- Verified traveler (10/5): Always a safe bet near Khao San - Reliable, comfortable and convenient.
- Toshiyuki (10/5): - Great location near Kaosan area but very quiet at night. Room itself is old and small. No elevator.
- Owen (10/5): - Lots of dining options in the area, near river for transport. Very quiet. Nice swimming pool. Easy walk to Khosan road.
- MarkJones (10/5): - Really friendly staff who were polite and always happpy to help and the food was delicious
- SIMON (10/5): All good - Villa is situated well- near Khao san Rd, but far enough away from the late night noise. Close to restaurants. They have luggage storage and staff were friendly
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property was not in use when we arrived. Despite it having been under renovation for some time when we arrived no one had contacted us to inform us our hotel reservation had been moved to a different hotel. There was a note on the building informing us of the hotel we should have been going to instead however no instructions on how to get there and the contact number wasn't answered.
- Nils (4/5): Hotel was closed ! - Closed hotel bad info when arrive late, booking should have been canseled !
Long walk to the rom we get !
Not good info where to find the room !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- ARUN (6/5): - Location was perfect. Bed was comfortable but our room was full of termites. It ate our clothes and put holes in it. My wife’s legs were full of little rashes/ pimples caused by the bugs. If we knew earlier that it was due to termites, we would have shift to an another place. Nevertheless service was good. They’ll be renovating the hotel so hopefully everything will be in better state for others! Have fun in Thailand and don’t forget to smile. 😁
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- lee (10/5): - Clean and basic hotel. Me and my wife both enjoyed our stay. Next to busy nightlife but quiet enough to sleep. Good hotel for small amount of money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - 203
Poolen liten men ok men området runt poolen och solstolarna under all kritik.
Rimlig renhållning.
Stor restaurang med ett bra kök.
- Simon (6/5): OK, traveller type accomodation, great location - I have stayed here numerous times over the past 10 years. Typical backpacker/traveller feel. I had a Superior Double room, there are numerous different room types including dorms (with levels of satisfaction varying significantly from what I can tell). I’m sure there are better places in the neighbourhood, but I am lured by the convenience of location and knowing what I am getting. Pros: great area set amongst the laneways with plenty of eateries/bars, pleasant place to stroll; convenient to ferry, walkable to Palace; quiet, bright and airy room with small balcony (bathroom built on balcony/semi outdoor); comfortable bed, nice linen; reasonable value - I found a decent deal; small pool area. Cons: rooms relatively tired, but clean; ground floor restaurant overpriced (but plenty of alternatives on doorstep) - the restaurant used to be very busy but was rarely more than half full which I suspect reflects poor value vs alternatives; staff somewhat surly; THB1,500 cash or passport deposit required for room damage; trying to evolve from a backpacker place but retains large notices about fines for taking non guests past the stairs, charges for damaged room items etc; which makes the place feel less friendly; wifi signal was not good in my room - only worked if I stood by my door (my room was at one end of the building). Overall a decent place to stay (in the better rooms), I feel there are better places, but if you like staying in a traveller type place, this is “ok”.
- Ismo (4/5): Huono hinta/laatusuhde - Hotellissa oli toimiva kassakone.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wild Orchid is BASIC but very suitable accommodation for what you pay.
It’s NO thrills rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are VERY friendly and it’s in a GREAT location 2 minutes walk from the noisy but quirky Kohsan Road
Oh it has a nice little pool also and a great restaurant
- Jack (10/5): - Good service/staff.. good a/c. Great location , not too close to party street but not too far
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lobby hang out area is really chill and nice. Front desk open 24/7 for early or late check-in or out. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is pretty cheap and its biggest advantage is the nice location. The pool is located between high buildings on both sides and the sun only shines there a short time during the day (at least in january). The room was a little dirty and the bathroom was outside on the balcony so if you are planning to go naked to the toilet or to take a shower, be prepared that the people staying in the building on the other side of the street will see everything. There are five or six floors but no elevator, so be also prepared to have some exercise while going to your room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cooles hotel - zentral aber trotzdem ruhig
Zumeist junge Leute
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice friendly place. In busy section so expect nightime noise-bring headphones.
Wifi was awful, inconsistent and weak.
- dave (8/5): Helpful staff - The bed was comfortable and the staff helpful especially giving us a bucket of ice.
There was no fridge and the toilet and shower were reached from the outside balcony which compromised privacy.
However the hotel was in a reasonably good location.
- Danny (10/5): Very nice place. Would recommend. - Very nice pool. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Our room was on the top floor which had a nice roof terrace and balcony area. Room was very clean and nice to come back to after a day of exploring Bangkok. Amenities were plentiful including kettle with tea and coffee ready to go, plenty of soap, shampoo and free water. Bathroom was very nice and of a modern design. Local area had everything you wanted with khaosan road only minutes away yet the room was very quiet. I would recommend to others unless maybe elderly or disabled as there is no elevator. Also the tv only had one channel but Wi-Fi is strong enough to watch online programmes.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not clean - Very dirty room everywhere including sheets.Cleaning is clearly not a priority. The staff don't care about anything.
- r (2/5): Terrible service - We stayed for a 1 day layover and it was the worst hotel we experienced in bangkok. They required a deposit of 1500 baht on arrival which makes it feel really cheap. They don't have elevators and did not even offer any assistance with bringing our luggage to the 2nd floor using stairs. The receptionist was terrible, no smile, not even offering any help. We were asking about how to get to mbk and cannot be bothered and instead refered us to ask questions with their travel booking service. Our room was not clean, the walls were filthy. No toiletries and did not even give soap when we asked at the reception saying "it wasn't part of our package" - come on, for a piece of soap??? They would rather get bad ratings and loose potential customers than give a cheap piece of soap. Service needs improvement badly. Rooms were also noisy, you can hear whats going on in the corridors and even on the adjacent rooms. The only thing goid about this place is their location. Other than that its not worth it. There are a lot of nicer hotels you can get with better services and facilities for the same price range.
- Layne (10/5): Great location and vibe - Great vibe as soon as you walk into the reception. The location is fantastic. The area is very touristy, but we liked that. There was heaps of shops, restaurants and bars. Nice pool. Room was a bit small. Decent bed and bathroom. Will definitely stay here again.
- nate (8/5): cozy place good location - everything was perfect with this hotel except that the pool was completely green. You can't beat the location though and the air conditioning was icy cold. I would stay here again.
- dangerous dave (6/5): A fine place, close to soi rambuttri - A good jumping off point, a pleasant neighborhood with good food, close to khoasan Rd. & Train station. The travel desk was very helpful. MBK 10 min away! Muay Thai boxing stadium 5 min away. Close to nice city park & water taxis.
- Luciano (6/5): Okay but bad value for price - It's very old. The walls almost fall apart. The staff wasn't too friendly. We had no windows and bad lightning so it was really dark. Its okay for 250 bath but for this price I would say please improve
- Joel (6/5): - It was stated that our room usually is 1800 baht a night, but now only 700. This room is not worth 1800 baht at all, not really worth 700 either. It was an OK experience but I expected much more considering the stated price.
- Josh (10/5): Thank you wild orchid - Great location close to khoasan road but really chilled. Staff where nice and the price was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, quiet, great location - We were recommended Wild Orchid Villa by friends, as a basic but clean hotel in a great location - and that's just what we got! Location was great, rooms were clean; however, the lightning in the room wasn't that great and the room was quite small. Other than that, it was a nice, quiet stay in the busy city of Bangkok.
- Chrissie (6/5): Loud, busy hotel - Hotel definitely has a party atmosphere so if you’re looking to drink and be merry all the time, this is the place for you. If you don’t, look elsewhere.
- Thomas (10/5): Old Siam - Fun place, great location, nice staff
- Shaneen (10/5): Overall great stay - This was my second time staying at Wild Orchid and I had a great experience! Centrally located and lovely atmosphere. Staff wasn't the friendliest but they had good food, a lovely and clean pool area, rooftop terrace, and a 5 minute walk to Khao San Road. No complaints, definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): 1st time international traveler - I had on of the best times of my life with my son.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Caters to back packers and it shows - Pool was half filled. May be had pump issues but definitely not usable. Common shower area and back packers can be very noisy. No elevator.
- John (4/5): old tired grubby - the place is worn out, the staff are rude & ignorant. Stayed three nights they tried to charge for four
- Richard (8/5): Good location in Bangkok - Great location close to the river and main shopping areas, restaurants and bars. Room very basic but typical of Bangkok. Super deluxe room with en-suite accessed via the balcony!
- Mary Lou (4/5): So-so -
good location, hot water and air conditioner reliable, unsightly junk was piled up next to my room, lots of mold on bathroom tiles, staff did not give me a wake up as promised, (I woke myself up),
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wild orchid was a great location. Close to Khao San road that had lots of shopping but still quiet at night. Great rooftop views. Walkable to the temples. Easy access to transportation. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- isabel (4/5): We check out 1 night early - We booked for 3 nights, paid in advance and let them know of your late check in (about 11 pm). We were given a room next to utilities area and the stairs just up from the reception (103), I asked for another as I thought it would be very noisy, I was told no rooms available. The room was very dirty, it wasn't a case of a bit of dust, it was blocks of grey matter all over the glass in the windows...the sheets damp, no pressure in the shower. I asked in the morning for another room as even with earplugs the noise from the stairs was getting to me, still nothing available and again the next morning and same answer. We stayed here 2 years ago and know you get what you pay for but there is no way they couldn't have swapped rooms and feel for the same money there is better. Checked out early losing the money for the last night unfortunately and won't be staying again :( if you do book don't pay in advance! Check out your room first and then decide, the hotel has gone down hill...
- Justine (8/5): Excellent location - Excellent location in a cute little Lane. There was plenty of market and restaurant filled streets just a short walk away (including Khao San road). The twin room was clean and comfortable with a window, air conditioning and safe all for a very reasonable price.
- helen (10/5): Nice enough hotel. Bangkok is rubbish - This hotel really has a travellers feel. Although not the best it really wasn't that bad. Close enough to kho San road. It had a pool we didn't use but looked ok. Bathroom was a bit haggard. But overall was fine. Had to leave a 1500 bht deposit.
Bangkok on the other hand was such a disappointent. Travellers don't waste more than 2 days it really is rubbish!
- joanna (10/5): Fantastic value for money and location - Fantastic location excellent access to koh San road!
- Ernest (8/5): Affordable room in a good location - Very affordable room in a good location (in a low-key alley, yet a few minutes walk from both Phra Athit pier and Khaosan). We paid for an air-con double room and stayed for 2 nights. The bed was quite comfortable, and there are many good eateries. The only issues was that there was no lift, the not-so-good toilet flushing system, and lack of a cupboard to hang clothes, but for the low price we paid this is a decent hotel.
- Sonal (8/5): An awesome end to a wonderful vacation - The room size is a bit small, the hotel is old. But the staff is great so is the food. Overall the stay was awesome.
- SR (6/5): Decent hotel within walking distance of khaosan rd - Reasonably nice hotel! Twin room was small but clean but lose to everything including khao San rd!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was good for sleeping in, but you wouldn't want to spend a long period of time in there. We stayed in a standard room on our first visit, which was very small, and a superior the second time which was much bigger. Staff are very friendly and helpful
- wing ying (8/5): - I recommend to stay.
- Tina (10/5): This is where you want to stay! - They have added a pool and sunbathing area which is really nice. The restaurant is good. The private room with king sized bed is perfect for 1-2 people. There is a person on site to book trips for you. Great location and even with all of the crazy nightlife, it isn't loud.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Second stay here - Stayed here before. Great location and quiet. Would stay here again.
- Ceres (10/5): cleanliness & safe - We stayed from 01Apr to 06Apr. Hotel has imposed a very strict rule that NO smoking is allowed in the room or be fined. The ambience was good . We felt safe to be in & out. Staff was friendly. There's a swimming pool which can cool us down especially at such hot season. don't go too far for your dinner.. You would expect to wait for an hour yet your order wasn't been served. We had no choice but to walk away. Superior room is a good size for us. there It's a totally different experience to stay outside the city.. Travel on the ferry taxi is fun. We are going again in Jun. We would recommend friends to book the same hotel.
- M (10/5): Great value - Perece location close to many sight's (grand palace and temples. Near Kausan Road but in a quiet little alley. The hotel has a nice lounge - restaurant at he entrance, swminpool Perece to fool down after exploring. My room had a little balcony and a good temperature (AC) room. You get a lot for your money really.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location very authentic experience - Very close to main road, you have anything necessary to enjoy the great Bangkok.
- Gulnara (4/5): not so bad for this price - good location, quiet, good price. very difficult to find hotel, small size of rooms, very noisy conditioner, poor wi-fi, friendly stuff.
- Glenn (6/5): Not Great, Just OK - Both day and night receptionists were pleasant and helpful. Stayed 3 nights no room service. Skip the restaurant - cheaper and tastier food on the street, beer as well. Great area for sightseeing and nightlife. Paper thin walls, you will hear everything, doors closing, conversations, so if you are a light sleeper this is not the place. Beds were ok, bathroom had mould and shower not bad. Old, cheap hotel, good for short stays and non fussy travelers. I would stay again due to location.
- tijana (2/5): Avoid at all costs - I thought to give this hotel a chance ... Was I mistaken! so dirty, the pool is gross, bathroom is horrendous, staff if VERY rude!
- Verified traveler (2/5): The photoshop hotel - Horrible, looked nothing like the photos on the web. The shower/toilet was an outhouse and smelt like a public urinal.
tons of flies. Internet was next to useless, you have to check your change in the restaurant, there is a warning on the table as it is so common, spirits are watered down. I could go on, best to say if you have any standards stay away from this place. if you want to think Bangkok is a 3rd world country and you have to survive it then this is the place for you. but luxury is just 5 mins around the corner for the same price.
- j (8/5): Cheap and cheerful, was impressed - I wasn't sure what to expect with this place but for the price was good, clean and had air con in our room, hot water and clean towels. Well located, can't fault it for the price but don't expect a 5* hotel! Perfect for travellers
- Isabel (8/5): Okay hotel, beware of the location - The Wild Orchid was great for what we were looking for. We had 4 nights in Bangkok and wanted to be walking distance from as much as possible. We were also on a budget. The check in was straightforward, we did have an issue with lights malfunctioning in the room that we were given but we were quickly given another room. It is a 2 min walk from the middle of Khaosan Road so the positive is lots of cheap good food/fruit and drink with the downside of being 24 hours... my earplugs weren't enough to block sound off and we stayed in this hotel because its mostly a walking street tucked away in an alley so thought it wouldn't be too bad for noise but not so lucky... Everything else was as expected although go with the photos from travellers and not the hotels (our room was quite different), but still clean and had all we needed. Easy to walk to Grand Palace, Wat Pho, the river and the canal. If we go back to Bangkok we'd maybe stay a little bit further away from Khaosan road but I wouldn't be surprised if all the hotels were pretty much the same noise wise as it seemed there's always something happening in Bangkok. OH, there is a pool. We didn't go and didn't see anyone using it, it always seemed to be in the shade but we were just to busy with everything going on outside.
- Sally (8/5): Perfect position - We stayed in this hotel for a couple of days, not aiming to stay in Bangkok for long as we are not major travellers on our own. The hotel is clean and helpful. There's a great restaurant, tourist/trip guide and booking point, chill area, wifi is fantastic and the team seem to be very helpful where they can be. The location is amazing!! Just a few minutes from Khao San road and the center of shops/restaurants/bars but at the same time we didn't hear a peep from the room if we wanted to go to bed earlier. Only thing I would say is the rooms are a little old/run down, that said they are very clean.
Thanks Wild Orchid
- Verified traveler (8/5): - CLEANLINESS: run down and old. they probably did the best they could do to clean what they could, but the bathroom needs a lot of work
SERVICE: very polite staff and speaks English. you do need to put a cash deposit and check-in and check-out took a few minutes since they check the room before you get your deposit back. free wifi.
AMENITIES: not very much. the hotel is attached to a restaurant, which is very convenient.
LOCATION: a lot of nearby shops, a 7-11, a spa/massage place and other food options. a short 10 min walk to khaosan road. kind of hard to find with taxi, its not on a main road. our driver just dropped us off at the street, and we walked down the narrow path because it is filled with a lot of foot traffic (pedestrians), and it is hard for the car to drive down with all other travelers walking.
There are a lot of cheaper options nearby, maybe with better amenities or room condition. But you cannot beat the location. Far enough from Khaosan Road to be away from the noise, but close enough to walk to, esp at night you still feel safe with the amount of people still around. If you just need a place to put your bag, store your valuables in a safe, and don't mind a run down place or shower, then this is your place. Our room didn't have an air conditioner, so it was kind of hot too.
- Melanie (10/5): Wonderful stay!!! - Very pleasant - room was spotlessly clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect. Really nice atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
- Pia (2/5): Rat running in the restaurant While eating breakfa - Not friendley staff. The toilet and shower was outside the room. So you could hear when your neighbours was on the toilet. While we were eating breakfast there was a rat running next to us in the restaurant. We told the staff but they didn't care. I don't want to stay at that hotel again.
- Thraen (8/5): Good point to stay near Khao San - Good hotel to stay near Khao San, clean and not noisy, overpriced travel agency in the lobby
- Dani (8/5): Nice hotel, central location. - Clean hotel, good location only a couple of minutes from the bars but quiet so you can get a good nights sleep.
- Rivka (6/5): Average - This was an average stay in Bangkok. We have stayed in many of the guesthouses in this area as we have visited and travelled through Thailand many times. The rooms were ok. Big but with a hard bed, the shower is located outside on the balcony but is a fairly standard shower for Thailand. It wasn't very hot though. The prices in the restaurant were way above most in the area especially for beer. Overall an average stay but you can find much better for the same or less.
- Craig (6/5): Once only here - The room was advertised as 22 sq m it was closer to 22 sq ft as there was just room to walk around the bed. There was no room for a wardrobe, fridge or a kettle and so none of these were to be found. In my opinion too basic for the money. The bathroom also looked like it had been tiled by a group of preschool children and not a professional builder. Better is available in the market for less.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wild - It was simply a perfect stay, very quiet hotel and great location...!!!
- Michael (6/5): So-so (read the good and bad) - The Good:
- Location is a 3 minute walk to Khosan road, which is perfect as you're not right in the busy/noisy street. You can go to party and then escape when you want
- travel agent on site from 10am-10pm who helped us book other parts of our trip
- restaurant/bar are open 24/7 at the hotel
- Good wifi in our room
The Bad:
- Pictures were very misleading/untrue. The room was much smaller/dirtier than the pictures showed. Our bathroom was disgusting.
- Room smelled really bad, we actually went out to get an air freshener. It didn't help :(
I'm not sure where you're priorities are in your travels, so read the good and bad and see what you're looking for...
- Daniel (6/5): Good for short stop... - Not a bad place to stay if it's a short stop in Bangkok. Pool is nice too.
- Stephanie (8/5): Good Room - Clean, basic rooms. Good location for going to the palace, museums and koah san, all are walkable distance.
- Anil Kumar (6/5): - Very tiny rooms but clean.
- Tapamita (8/5): Nice hotel in the middle of the shopping area - Nice hotel in the middle of the shopping area. Comfortable room with all the required facilities. In house restaurant is also good, with a beautiful pool at the backside of the hotel, that you need to discover.
- World Journeys (4/5): Typical for price and location - This is another example of a place that has really nice photos online whichever site you go through, but the rooms don't look nearly as nice as the pictures. They are quite pokey and not a lot of room bar the bed.
It's not the worst place by any stretch of the imagination, but the food was disappointing and SOME of the staff a bit prickly and over dealing with foreigners I suspect. Travel agent there did a good job with booking tours and airport transfers. Left the 'please clean the room' tag on the door every day, was only cleaned once out of two. There's so many hotels and places to stay in this area of the same standard. Hard to know which ones stand out. I liked that it was close to Khao San, but not on Khao San, so good location although the poor taxi driver had a lot of trouble finding it when I arrived.
- Kristin (8/5): Great value - I d say overall it was a good experience, we were in a great location!!! Food at the restaurant was delicious and authentic ( also had huge variety for those who want something other than Thai) although why?? Their thai food was great. Rooms were clean and simple, bathroom on patio, but I didn't mind, it was kind of cute. Service was fine, and they had just finished building a pool!!! It was beautiful and clean, and not busy.
- jheric (6/5): It's good for what we paid for. - We stayed for 2 nights just so we can sightsee and experience Bangkok before we head south to the beaches. It was a quiet place the room that we got had its own bathroom, aircon and a safebox. I would recommend it if you don't mind staying in a hostel type place.
- johnnyhatesjazz (10/5): First experience of Cambodia. - This is probably the hotel with the most supportive and welcoming staff that you could wish for.
Warm welcome.
Clean rooms.
More than helpful.!!!
Highly recommend.
- Joanna (10/5): Ideal!! - Perfect stay for Bangkok. Close to Kao San road but not too close so you can sleep at night!
Small room, but I don't go on holiday to stay in the room, so for me it was perfect!!
- Benjamin (6/5): Nickel and Dime for Everything. - The hotel nickels and dimes you for everything and it's a bit outdated, but the location was great. Major attractions were within walking distance as well as Khao San Road.
Just be prepared to only have 1hr of wifi unless you wanna pay to use their computers and store your bags after checking out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location - Good location...the accommodations are very basic but fine if you're just passing through town and not looking to spend much money
- Dave (6/5): Average - Stayed in a Superior double. The room was more average than superior. The bathroom is outside on the balcony, which is ok, but the bathroom was quite dated, very old tiles and worn paint and such. Shower not separate from toilet.
Nice big bed. Nowhere to store baggage and clothing, except for four pegs on the wall.
Clean, well located and far enough from the busier and noisier Khao San road area. However, I found the hotel itself to be a little noisy and busy, as the housekeeping staff cleans, folds and arranges the bedding out in the main hallway in the wee hours, and if you happen to be located at that end of the hallway, you may be awakened by all the activity - not loud, just a lot of coming and going... Was awakened again around 6:30 am to find staff family member (I'm guessing) sitting on the floor outside my door eating breakfast.
Appealing open air restaurant and lounge on main floor.
- Diana (10/5): Great location and lots of 'charm' - Outside bathroom facilities and other 'charming' characteristics that really made the hotel one of the best places we stayed. I actually really enjoyed not having a modern hotel to help with the atmosphere of the trip. But even if you don't like the facilities, everyone would LOVE the location! Perfect spot for tourist-type activities as well as not as well known local places that are awesome.
- Mike (10/5): Khaosan Road without the Noise! - I stayed here with my wife for one night. The hotel is decorated very nicely with traditional statues/items and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The large restaurant downstairs was very good with cheap prices and drinks. It's located near Khaosan Road for shopping and very close to the Grand Palace and various temples for sightseeing! Very quiet, clean, and chill!
- holbromin (4/5): Ok, but not great. - The rooms are definitely not "luxury" as advertised, nor are they like the pictures shown at check in. They are very basic, thin walls, very hard mattress.. In my opinion very overpriced for what you get. The food was alright, but wait staff unfriendly.
