Guest Reviews
- Thomas (4/5): - price uneven cleanliness
- David (4/5): Truly a rustic motel - a relic of a simpler time. We gave it a shot but wouldn't stay again. - Location is great. Sadly, it looks like the business is being sold soon and probably will be replaced by something else. Shower curtain had mildew. Door wouldn't lock with key from the outside, although doorknob was jammed so wouldn't open without the key anyway (although it wouldn't lock). Towels were stained. Blackout curtain didn't cover the whole window so sunlight came in underneath in the morning. Wifi was free but spotty. Staff was very friendly and responsive.
- Emma (3/5): Survivable conditions with roaches and A/C - The air condition worked seamlessly and the owners were very kind. The towels, bedding, and floors were all rather dirty. It is an old building but it doesn’t seem like it is cleaned thoroughly between visits. There were many flies and mosquitoes already in the room when I checked in. The first night two roaches were spotted. The second night, another two. When I realized there was a roach infestation the first night, I requested to get a refund but I unfortunately booked through Booking.com. If I had just booked onsite, the owners said they would have offered me a refund for the rest of my stay.
- Dana (8/5): Perfect stay for 1 night - Great location. The guy at the desk was really friendly and helpful.
- Christina (9/5): -
- Leanne (8/5): Comfiest bed ever - The bed was soooo comfy which was needed as we had been driving for a long time before we arrived. The owners were so kind and friendly which was also lovely. The room could have been a little cleaner I feel.
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- Bambi L (10/5): - Really friendly staff! A very soft mattress -- I slept like a baby!
- Robert (6/5): - Convenient
- Aurora (1/5): Will not go again - The refund The bedbugs
- Robert (8/5): - Good price and good people
- Melody (10/5): - The owner was wonderful. I stayed there on my journey to my destination & on my journey home. The owner knew I was staying there on my way home & put the air conditioning on in my room so that it was cool when I arrived.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Second time here love it
- Samuel (8/5): - Great staff i went early to pay the room was wonderful minus a single roach but otherwise wonderful i will he coming back
- Patricia (3/5): You get what you pay for… - Not much it is a matter of what you pay for is what you get. Our room was dark and musty. It was a jumble of old furniture. The towels were super thin and stained with black stains.
- Joseph (9/5): Good bang for the mighty American dollar - Good value, decent beds should be an on-site fortune teller lol
- Joachim (10/5): Exceptional - My 3rd stay here. Traveling with 24 foot horse trailer and 4 dogs. Owner was very accommodating and friendly
- E5001FNmikeh (2/5): Very bad experience - I live in Rolla and after the tornado hit rolla on Friday the power was out at the motel for at least 6 whole days the owners had a generator but the rest of the place including 4 children had no electric or hot water for a week no amenities and my friends in 235 who have lived there had to throw away 275 dollars worth of food they just bought the managers never checked on them it is illegal to live anywhere in Rolla without electric and hot water my friends were shy on their rent this month and the managers are being very rude wanting money they had to use to eat fast food with cause of the tornado they even rented dark rooms to people during that week.Im a concerned citizen and do not think breaking the law is OK for these business owners and they should have put the paid up customers in another hotel with electric and water but they didnt, this is not how you treat people and some concerned citizens plan on doing something about probably in court but those poor people's money need to be refunded for the nights they were without electric and hot water,I would definitely not recommend this motel to anyone.
- Tim (1/5): Bad - We like the lghts didn't shine in our room although there were no lights in the parking lot either.... The plumbing didn't work in the first room the heating didn't work in the second room. Floors were sticky.
- Jim (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (7/5): Good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mckeithan (10/5): Exceptional - Pet friendly
- Wes (10/5): - Quaint, but I like quaint. Friendly owners. My go-to whenever I visit my Miner.
- Jame (10/5): - We stayed there due to an event we were competing in close by. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The Rustic is an older building, but well maintained. More well maintained than a lot of the more expensive name brand places. The linens were clean, the furniture in great shape, and they provided plenty of towels and pillows in the room, so much so you didn't need to ask for anything. It was quiet, and we were literally able to park right in front of our room. Highly recommend. We'll use this facility again if we race NICA again in Rolla next year. Plus it was within walking distance of the course.
- Gresham (6/5): Good - It was a cute spot. Beds are a bit uncomfortable and there was a slight musty smell
- Baker (7/5): Good -
- Katmill61 (8/5): Very good -
- Mike (3/5): will not stay there again - location run down and not clean
- harishkumar (4/5): - Property looks too old, It does not seems what mentioned in expedia
- Jonathan (2/5): - Property run down room was old equipment is junk TV hardly work just overall a dump not worth it
- Bikermom14 (8/5): Very good - Good location. It was right on our route, didn't have to go out of our way. Booked ahead, so that is nice. Makes it easy.
- Maurice (9/5): Excellent! - Everything was fine and a very nice stay. That is why my wife and I stay here whenever we are in Rolla. There was nothing that I really didn't like. The fact that my wife and I stay here twice a year for the last five years speaks to that fact.
- Wes (10/5): - Locally owned, reasonable price, close to campus. Friendly owners manage business personally.
- Mei (10/5): Sweet n cozy -
- Eric (3/5): The place is not what it used to be - I liked the location The shower did not work. The owner came to look at it and said maintenance man not here just use the tub.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible! Do not recommend. - Worst motel stay I’ve ever had. One of the two towels in the bathroom had dirt smeared all over it and was just hanging up. The tub would not drain. Both of the beds had dirty blankets, sheets, and pillows. There were hairs all over all of it. Looks like someone slept in both beds and none of the bedding was removed or washed. I had to go to Walmart and buy blankets and pillows to sleep in the bed because I was so grossed out. The room smelled terrible like smoker had smoked in the room even though I asked for a non smoking room.
- Maurice (10/5): - My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying here many times and look forward to staying here everytime we are in Rolla.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Wesley (10/5): - Owners are friendly and live on site. Property is old, but adequate, and price is reasonable
- Janis (8/5): - The only thing we missed was a breakfast. otherwise we were satisfied
- Mark (10/5): - I loved this place! The sheets, pillows and mattress were amazing. Great AC and hot water. Also, the owners are terrific - talk with them about becoming American citizens!
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
- Deborah (6/5): Pleasant - Convenient location. Front desk attendants were kind. Bathroom sink not clean. Ceiling paint peeling.
- Jennie (10/5): Exceptional - Ver nice and clean. Unbelievably nice for a older motel. Nothing to dislike.
- Fred (8/5): the location made it easy to get to our destination - thier wasn't any breakfast but the motel was on a main street that made it easy to get to the place we wonted to go they didn't have breakfest
- Max (10/5): Exceptional - All All good
- Robin (8/5): - Very nice lady that checked me in. Older hotel but clean. Had an issue with the tv so we switched rooms so everything worked out. Might avoid room 112.
- John (8/5): - Room was clean but needed paint. Also the tpwels.were badly stained.
- Park (8/5): Very good - The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
- Mark (10/5): I would be happy to stay here again - This is a older property and the rooms are small but the owners maximize the comfort with several small touches and two nice chairs. Bed was comfy and the staff was friendly and helpful some traffic noise as the property is on the Main Street of the town,
- Mark (4/5): Disappointing -
- Hawkins (5/5): Passable -
- Bradley (1/5): Retirned to Rolla after graduation from UMR 54 years ago. - cheap and in Rolla could be a lot cleaner. musty smell
- Debbie (10/5): Nice bew beds & great area - Most comfy bed we have ever had other than a 5 star hotel! We stayed here 9 years ago, also when in MO. Most places seem to go downhill over time, but this was the same as we remembered it. New beds were a plus. Bathroom should have been much cleaner. Hairs on sink back. Tub is non handicapped, no bars, so I couldn't even get a shower the next morning. It was a bathtub/shower only. Very dangerous.
- Barbara (5/5): Passable -
- Barbara (4/5): Disappointing -
- Stephanie (3/5): Poor -
- Marylin (8/5): Clean and comfortable nice owners - Close to the highway. Easy in and out. Close to eating establishments Shower hard to get in and out for an elderly person no handrails
- Ben (9/5): Pleasant & Peaceful! - Owners are very pleasant and attentive to your needs. This is my "go-to" stay when in Rolla!
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional - Polite staff, nice rooms
- Tomchik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tanya (10/5): - Loved the high-top, king-sized bed with soft & cozy blankets and comforter. The room was heated prior to my arrival on a cold night and had the added touch of a room scent that made you feel as if you were entering someone's guest room to spend the night; not a motel. The patterned shower curtain was also a nice touch to make the bathroom feel more "homey." Nice & friendly people to greet me at the front desk, both at my arrival in the middle of the night and in the morning at check-out. I will definitely be staying here again!
- Wendy (10/5): - Better then the Hotels in the area, this cozy motel was lovely to stay at.
- Bikermom14 (8/5): Very good - Nice.
- Rhonda (7/5): For the price, and the fact that this was just a short stop on the way, this wasn’t a bad place. - The owners were very friendly, even when we had to check in very late.
Beds were clean and comfortable. It could benefit from a deep cleaning. It was clean on the surface, but needed detailed attention.
The deadbolt on the door would not latch.
- Maycee (7/5): Good -
- Tom (10/5): Comfortable quiet room and a great nights sleep - Great managment team
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Troy (9/5): Superb -
- Jeff (4/5): I don’t recommend - Checked in and immediately asked for a refund. First room smelled like freshly smoked marijuana and head dead bedbug carcasses behind the headboard. Second room didn’t stink, but had dead bugs lay all around the edge of the wall and overall cleanliness needs attention. Front desk personnel stated they don’t have enough help. I understand that, but that’s a lot of places nowadays. I do not recommend.
- Brittany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheri (10/5): Wonderful time!!! - The rooms were super clean. The price was very reasonable. The owners were wonderful!!! I would definitely stay here again!!!
- Logan (4/5): - Needs major updating. There are plenty of ways to update cost effectively. I can tell it’s owned by people who care and love their business but you have got to put some money back into the business as well. The same fixtures and beds from the 60’s-70’s just aren’t going to cut it anymore. Housekeeping could do a better job deep cleaning too. A magic eraser goes a long way.
- Jody (10/5): Great hotel! - I like this hotel, it would be my first choice if I need to stay in the area again
- James (8/5): - Very clean!
- Kathleen (6/5): - No such thing as a non smoking room when next door is a smoking room. The smoke comes in through vents and under the door. Walls very thin. Beds very uncomfortable. The owners were very nice and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Affordable clean room - If you are looking for a reasonable rate with a clean space to sleep, this will meet your expectations. There are not any additional creature comforts here, so you get what you pay for. The motel is outdated, but it is clean and the family who owns it is friendly.
- Mckenzie (10/5): - I loved that it was family owned
- Daniel (10/5): - Very nice room.
- Nadine (10/5): - Very nice vintage Motel. Great area with restaurants and gas stations nearby.
Very helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Older property, but well maintained (e.g., the bathroom fan actually cleared the moisture). AC had been turned on before our arrival. Owner was friendly, but not intrusive.
- John (10/5): Rustic well done! - 1950s motel. That said, it isn't perfect but about as perfect as it can be. Family owned, well kept and CLEAN. Beats the economy motels on the interstate...particularly the CLEAN part. Worth the two mile drive! Thanks guys, we'll be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - nice size room and bathroom. very comfortable and good nights sleep. was in A quiet location and conveinute to restaurants, breakfast location and near a pharmacy. we would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - We have stayed here several times, pre-pandemic, but this time we were sorely disappointed in the lack of cleanliness.
We will pass next time.
- William (10/5): **Nice lil quaint & cozy motel** - Very nice place to lay your head. Very clean. Nice & friendly lil lady behind the counter. I highly recommend this place! :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cute little place with amazing owners. Could be a little cleaner, but it was perfect for or needs.
- Mark (8/5): - Throwback to 1960. Cool mom and pop place in center of everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The Owner was very nice and helpful, they kept coffee going all night!
- james (10/5): Stay in Rolla - Very nice people, a pleasure to visit with them!
- Markus (10/5): - Perfect place to stay for a fishing trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Suprisingly good for a motel - Personal touches in the room, super comfortable bed. Friendly, smiling front desk. Small parking lot, but I managed to fit my car with trailer on the gravel area. I felt safe with a deadbolt on the door. There was no partition and no masks were being worn in this Missouri motel. The coffee was hot and decent. No frills, no breakfast food, but an inexpensive and overall seamless experience. I would stay here again for the price.
- Christina (10/5): Enjoyed my stay. - A very pleasant surprise. Loved the simple touches that made it feel like home. Clean. Comfortable. Quiet. Easy check in. Reasonably priced.
- meganpitz1 (10/5): Rustic and Comfortable - I loved this motel. Like it's name says, it's older but it's really well maintained and the rooms are comfortable and give the feel of being ensconced in someone's home. When the owner, who also tends the front desk, welcomes you, it's like being welcomed into her home. It's clear the owners take great care in providing a comfortable, pleasant, and relaxing staying experience. Maid service was excellent as well, and optional; you could choose by day whether you wanted the service before the morning of.
- RusticMotel (8/5): - Every thing was great except I was very uncomfortable when the check in lady made a copy of my driver's licence and my credit card.
- Jake (10/5): - The folks at the desk are the owners. They are relatively new immigrants to the US and are living the American dream.
They are very friendly and extremely polite.
The bed has a pillow top along with great pillows. The bathroom was clean and well lit with endless hot water. The AC worked great. The property is well located in town, well lit and well maintained.
The rooms have been updated but the outside has vintage appearance to it, although a well maintained one.
All in all, I strongly recommend this place, especially at this price.
It’s no Hilton, but that’s what we were looking for.
- Edward (6/5): - Nice place good location with lots of amenities close by. Very friendly helpful owners.
- E6342VDjohnc (10/5): Best Hotel in all of Missouri! - I have stayed at 5 star resorts around the world. Nothing comes close to the friendly home town feel of the Rustic Motel. I have stayed here many times starting back in 1980 when I was in school at UMR/MSM! I do wish the pool was still open, but that is only for a few months a year anyway! Excellent menu options next door at Sonic (one of my all time favorite places) & 2nd best option in town since Zeno's closed (Maid Rite is a must visit also!) Thanks again for keeping this place top notch all these years! Can't wait for my next visit.
- Verified traveler (6/5): You get what you pay for - Good for the price but nothing special. I’m not sure why this motel had so many good reviews. Because to me it was about average but the price was good. Wish they had any kind of breakfast. Coffee that was provided was very lukewarm and that was at about seven in the morning. No room coffee
