We arrived Saturday afternoon and spent some time exploring downtown, which is easily walkable from The Edgewater—or, if you prefer, they offer a complimentary black car service. Saturday afternoon and evening were delightful (places recommended by the staff at Edgewater), and Sunday was pure relaxation with the amazing spa services. We spent the day lounging in the relaxation pool and ordering food in the relaxation room—it was heavenly! Highly recommend for a rejuvenating escape.

- lukehL6320SW (2/5): Not Accommodating - Super disappointed in this hotel. I was traveling with a large family (5 younger kids) that required adjoining rooms. I proactively called to ensure they had adjoining rooms and that I was booking the correct 2 rooms. Immediately after booking the rooms through my points, the staff member did a complete flip flop, stated she could not accommodate the adjoining room request. The booking was non-refundable so they refused to refund even as this was immediately discovered. I called back and spoke to the manager. He couldn’t do “anything”. Couldn’t cancel. Couldn’t accommodate adjoining rooms. Wouldn’t discount an upgrade. Cancelling trip and out all our $/points. EXTREMELY disappointed.
- harolde971 (2/5): No shower chair or stool for those who have difficulty standing - I actually have not stayed there yet, but I have a reservation for May. Because I have difficulty standing, I need a shower chair or stool in order to take a shower. They do not have ANY available. The only thing they have is a handicap accessible room. Those are designed for people with wheelchairs, which I do not need. If one does not have a wheelchair, handicap accessible rooms are extremely inconvenient, because essentially taking a shower floods the entire bathroom. I have stayed in hotels, all around the world, from small to large and from moderate to expensive. They almost always have a shower chair or stool. For a hotel this relatively expensive, I consider this unacceptable. I realize this specific issue is not relevant to most people, but I think it’s indicative of the quality of service.

The Bed very comfortable and Breakfast was great, clean room very nice, very quiet absence of sound, noise or disturbance very peaceful stay at this hotel. If you go to this hotel, get a room overlooking water view , the most beautiful thing to see.

From the moment I checked in to the time I checked out, the entire experience was seamless and welcoming. The room was beautiful, comfortable, and well-appointed. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, making the whole stay stress-free. A special shout-out to Augie’s Tavern — my steaks were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The bartenders delivered fantastic service and made the experience even better. The shuttle service was also excellent — convenient, reliable, and a great added touch. And Craig at the front desk truly stood out with his exceptional service and professionalism. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend

I only gave 4 stars as we paid extra for a spa service that was not rendered, a bit disappointing especially when we splurge for self care once/year & it was a disappointing experience. - foxfire1518 (4/5): Overpriced, Kind Staff - Staff is very kind and professional and location is convenient and pretty (on the lake). Rooms are clean. Rates are high for what it is, comparable to other places in the area. There isn't a pool outside of the spa and spa prices are high for Madison, too. I booked erroneously under the wrong rate (totally my fault) but wasn't able to cancel as it was within 24-hours and they couldn't make any adjustments to figure out a half-way solution- so not super accomodating management.

It was very cold in Madison, but we were very cozy inside this lovely hotel.
- DillonJames (10/5): Amazing hotel and experience in a cool city - There’s no doubt that the city of Madison is a pretty cool place with the lakes, the state capital and the university. Fortunately, the city has a beautiful, lakefront hotel property that encompasses all of those attributes with the Edgewater. We went to Wisconsin for a Packer game and are really glad we had the opportunity to stay in Madison at the Edgewater. The property is all decked out for Christmas and the vibe was great in the bar and restaurant. The staff is “over the top” accommodating and welcoming. Every great city should have a great - non chain- classy hotel like this.

The rooms are great, Augie's Tavern is awesome (especially after a football game), the location can't be beat and the view is wonderful. I would like to give a shoutout to Jess at registration - who helped us out of a bind. She is an amazing ambassador for the hotel and a rock star for sure! Thank you for another wonderful stay!

We were upgraded to a lakeview room (in the Langdon building - pro: this the building where the fitness center, spa, etc. are located. Con: it is a bit of a walk from the main building/main entrance). Parking was not cheap - $32/day for self park, $38/day for valet, which seemed high for a city like Madison, but it was very near the captol, the University, and downtown, so parking is not abundant). Location was, then, excellent, walking doitnce to most everything of interest in Madison. Room was lovely - classy, well appointed, Room and entire buildign were immaculate. Though we were right near the elevator, we never heard a sound in three nights. Spa was fabulous - we both had great massages and enjoyed the facitlites. Service was terrific - there were two bottles of water in the room when we arrived, and when we called down the next dayto ask if we might get two or three more, they immediatley sent someone up with four more (at no charge). We did room service breakfast one morning, which was delivered right at the promised time, and was pretty good (room service bresakfat is not, in my experience, usually anthing to write home about). We got a fantatic last minute price and it was beyond worth waht we paid (we would hve spent the same at a Hilton or a Marriott, and the Edgewater had much more character). Highly recommended!

Carpet way WAY worse. Spa pool closed the week I was there. Spa discounts didn’t make it to the receipts so I had to Go back in forth with receptionist and then manager because my daughter and I both had treatments….

I got the panoramic room! Best decision ever! Will definitely go back. The fridge wasn’t big enough to hold my birthday cake but that nothing compared to the good.

No apology, just gratis parking (not sure why this isn’t including in the first place in Madison WI). Next am we came back from brunch to find our bed stripped and linens gone 1.5 hours before checkout. Apparently they wanted the room back.
- OHPeach (2/5): Don’t bring your car - TL;DR: Beautiful hotel. Great location. Awful arrival experience. We stayed at eight different hotels/inns/lodges during our recent two week road trip to the Canadian Rockies from Columbus, Ohio. Needless to say, we have an efficient routine. On our way home, for our last night, we arrived to The Edgewater at 5:50pm. I went inside to check in while my husband stayed with the car. By 5:54pm I was back outside, but my husband and our car were gone. Odd. I tried calling and texting (thankfully I hadn’t left my phone in the car). Nothing went through. Again, odd. I waited outside for 20 min, growing very frustrated and, eventually, concerned. During this time, the valet walked near me no less than two or three times, but said nothing. As it turns out, the valet had ordered my husband to leave and park the car (which is underground where there is no cell service). My husband then went directly into the hotel from the garage. The front desk told him I went to the room (nope) and gave him a key. Finally, he calls me and we figure out what happened. This lack of hospitality soured our evening. Never separate guests as they are arriving. Plus, it’s a basic expectation to park after check in. At a minimum, the valet could have tried to help me when I was waiting and confused about the situation. If I’m ever back in Madison again, I will choose a different hotel.
- debbie929 (2/5): Disappointed - A real disappointment for the price we paid. Trying to make the reservation was our first issue. I had to call numerous times to ask for an email confirming our reservation and each time it was incorrect. Once we arrived our room had a smell that was difficult to get rid of. The beds were not very study, they would move getting in and out of them. There was limited availability for phone charging and the desk didn't have a place to plug in a computer, so we couldn't comfortably get work done in the room. We used valet parking to find "Chew Spit" both on the inside and outside of the driver's window. Finally, the extra charges for resort fee made no sense.. we had a parking lot view. For all of the hype around the place, I was expecting something special.

- Snorewood (10/5): $75 resort fee? - Lovely hotel with comfortable beds and clean quiet rooms. Indoor, underground parking would be a definite plus come winter. Adding a $75 "resort fee" seems like gouging. It would be one thing if this included amenities such as beach chairs/towels, bicycle loans, access to the spa. As that is not the case, this seems designed to make the room price appear less than it actually will be. A pernicious practice that would not be engaged in by a quality hotel. I urge them to stop this as it negatively affects their ratings.

I recommend the Presidential Suite here to anyone visiting Madison for work or pleasure.

It is an unusual layout with the lobby on the 5th or 6th floor, with rooms distribution surrounding the garage on the lower level, beautiful views on the upper floors, but a side range of views, some better than others. The hotel needs hard goods remodeling and while the staff means well, they seems to be a shortage of qualified employees.

The service staff were not terribly focused on customer experience and definitely lacked training and orientation of a better hotel. We found them unresponsive when problems occurred. It’s a nice place just don’t expect great service.
