Guest Reviews
- Jeremy (10/5): I would like to stay longer. - Super staff. Clean and welcoming. Breakfast is sparse.
- Brandon (10/5): -
- Derek (8/5): -
- Louis (4/5): - the breakfast was non-existent, coffee and milk, cereal and pre packaged food only. the first floor had a bad smell, changed room to second floor
- Emily (5/5): A place to lay my head for a night. - It was cozy , quiet & relatively clean. The carpeting is lumpy & should probably be replaced. The vintage soda machine being out of order & them charging double for the same pop at the front desk. I didn’t appreciate the envelope asking for tips for the housekeeper. I have never seen that before .
- Bonnie (3/5): My other stay at this property was much better than this experience. - Our room had a dehumidifier in it. The room smelled musty, and there was a blanket covering the recliner. We were too scared to check under the blanket.
- Gilsrud (10/5): Enjoyed the stay and will do again. - The staff were very friendly! The room was nice and warm. Outside temperature was very cold with strong winds. Slept very well. Room was very clean and comfortable. Toilets too low for older tall people. Bathrooms very clean!!
- Michaela (9/5): - Enjoyed the room I stayed in No comments or concerns
- Debra (7/5): - It was 1st floor and private There was a bug crawling around in the shower
- Dawn (8/5): - The only inconvenience was the pet is a cash only pet fee when you travel with your pet . The pet fee cannot be added to my room fee , I had to make a trip to the store to get cash back .
- Ronald (8/5): -
- Norma (8/5): -
- Hannah (7/5): - Staff, cleanliness. Needs chair in room.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Dana (9/5): Best of the two motels in Cresco, IA - Cleanliness, comfortable beds Nothing
- Jeremy (9/5): Highly recommend - Super friendly person at reception.
- Nowak (10/5): -
- Lihi (8/5): -
- Evelyn (10/5): - It was clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Shane (9/5): - Facilities were clean, everything was almost new appearing, we even asked if the hotel was fairly new, the manager said it's been there for 25 years. Very impressed. It's definitely one of the nicer Super 8s I've stayed in.
- Salina (10/5): - Would definitely stay again. They had no issues with my service dog.
- Haylie (10/5): - Counter staff was very nice and made the transaction smooth.
- Susan (10/5): - When in Cresco, I always stay at Super 8. It’s clean and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is limited but enough to kick off the day.
- Kimberly (4/5): - The toilet overflowed several times. Expidea stated that the per-dog fee was $10; they lied. It was 25
- Perry (8/5): - Check on was great! Our room was very clean and looked like it had been updated recently. 2 drawbacks the security exterior door was not working and the hall ways smelled like pet urine.
- Russ (10/5): - Nice clean everything work also a free upgade Nothing really.
- onthemove1212 (6/5): You get what you pay for - The room had a musty smell and was very outdated, but it was clean. The breakfast was minimal with just toast and some packaged pastries. The upside is its very cost friendly.
- Gregory (10/5): - Ckean room
- Allen (10/5): Ok - Convenient Toilets way to low
- Robert (10/5): - Nice and clean! Breakfast could be a little different, since you had to ask front desk for eggs!! People are on a schedule when traveling and most sont have time to wait!!
- MIKE (10/5): - Helpful staff.
- Karin (8/5): - Nice people. All was well
- Cynthia (6/5): -
- Amanda (8/5): Extremely friendly staff and clean facilities. - It was clean and the location was great for our needs. The only thing I can think of was it was a bit damp in our rooms. One of them had a dehumidifier in it but the other did not. My suggestion would be to have one in each room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Huge room-no furniture - Room was huge without hardly any furniture. The limited furniture in the room was made for really short people. Some lamps didn’t have bulbs or didn’t work. No coffee cups for coffee maker. Room so big that small tv was at least 15 feet from the bed. Plus side: Clean, comfortable bed, friendly staff.
- Mike (4/5): Staff need better training - Location Breakfast was almost non-existent!!!
Even though I booked and paid for this reservation through Booking.com, receptionist on checking in deducted full payment again from my credit card. I only discovered that later in the day, thinking she wanted to scan my card for possible 'incidentals'. Took 2 weeks to resolve this issue, but my account was eventually credited by Super 8. Person who resolved issue said she had told staff multiple times about this sort of arrangement where payment made through external booking agency.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Everything was great but the moldy smell in room.
- Julie (8/5): Very good - location
- JULIE (8/5): - Nice place to stay.
- Thomas (2/5): - Most of the staff are amazing, stay away from the redhead.
- Brent m (10/5): - Great when traveling with dogs. In a day and age where no hotel allows big dogs this place is truly dog friendly
- MARY (8/5): - Could use a little updating but other than that it was nice.
- Ronald (4/5): - I've been staying here for years. On this trip, the hotel was filled with guests with dogs. Don't know if this is new, but it was out of hand. Barking at all hours, and walking down the hall was met by another guest who could barely control their pit bull as it lunged at me. Unless this policy changes, I won't ever stay here again.
- Maurice (10/5): - Pleasantly surprised to find a nice motel in a small Iowa town. We were met by a friendly woman at the desk who checked us in. I was surprised to find out there was no elevator, but managed due to a less than perfect knee. Our room was fine, bed and pillows were comfortable and room was clean and decorated well. We had a good nights sleep.
- Honnold (10/5): Very good - Helpful staff. Comfortable stay but not super trendy if that is what you expect. Smoke smell in non smoking room. Not a deal breaker but I'm allergic.
- Terri (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful
- Joe (9/5): Superb -
- Sheila (9/5): Superb -
- Eric (6/5): - It was good, not great. They’ve removed a lot of the breakfast items that I looked forward to have. One of the employees never even knew that they had it, and another one said that they were having budget cuts to buy furniture?
If
I stay in the area, I’ll look elsewhere.
- S165BVtracys (8/5): Clean, safe - The hotel was clean and safe. The staff is very courteous and friendly.
The decor is a bit outdated, but not in poor condition.
I received a courtesy call to alert me that the front desk closes at 10:00 pm. I arrived after that time. All I had to do was call and was immediately served.
I would stay again.
- barry (6/5): - Service was excellent. Carpet needs updating. And breakfast was less than expected. Ran out of coffee.
- Tracy (10/5): - Clean.
- Timothy (10/5): - This is an excellent and affordable hotel.
- Josh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elisabeth (9/5): Great hotel for the price! - Everything was clean and up-to-date. The person at the front desk was super friendly and efficient.
- Craig and Patricia (8/5): - I loved the bed and pillows
- Edeline (8/5): Very good -
- Nikki Jo (8/5): - It was fine. the staff was friendly. Had a dog with me and it was relatively easy to get in and out of the hotel.
- Gayla (10/5): - Good
- Kimberly (8/5): - Cable did not work
- Dawn (3/5): Less than bare minimum on all services provided. Will not stay again. -
- John (8/5): - It was okay but the breakfast was lacking in variety and nothing was hot!
- Mona J (8/5): - Good place to stay.
- Brian (4/5): - The front desk personnel, even though working 12-to-16-hour shifts (I stayed twice over a week span for a total of 4 nights and only interacted or saw one person working the front desk), was extremely friendly and helpful. Check in and check out could not have been better or easier. The grab and go breakfast had a small selection of items, but they covered the basics. The rooms were as clean as the staff could make them. The carpets definitely need to be professionally cleaned or replaced as they appeared very dirty. The furniture is very old and dated. The room had a strange odor that may have been from the carpets. If you need to stay in the Cresco area, my advice is to look at the accommodations available in Decorah about 20 miles west of Cresco. For food in Cresco, I definitely recommend Dan's Road House (excellent Smash Burger) and Atomic Pizza.
- Kelten (8/5): Very good -
- Stephen (6/5): - The worst thing about the property is the flood lights directly outside the second-floor windows that are not blocked out by the curtains. It made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I had to get my room key refreshed every day because it stopped working (even though I had it nowhere near my phone or wallet), and the reception desk was often unstaffed when I went to get a replacement. Finally, the person working the desk when I checked out was unable to print out a receipt; she was only able to print out a reservation confirmation.
- DaLayne (8/5): - Convenient location and friendly staff
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tonya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dana (8/5): Very good - This is only one of two hotels in town. They do a nice job of accommodating
- Lois (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (6/5): - Expedia charged more than advertised
- Ray (10/5): - A
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duane (10/5): - Older small town property with friendly staff
- Sherilyn (10/5): - Great staff, very friendly and helpful!
- Rachel (9/5): Someone takes pride in a job well done - VERY CLEAN and comfortable place to stay for good value - The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our room was perfectly cleaned, and very well maintained. It was comfortable and it was a nice stay.
I think this is a great value for the price. We stayed here instead of pricier options in Decorah. Would be nice to have a bit more options for breakfast, but it did include some essentials like coffee, yoghurt, etc.
- Connie (4/5): Way way over priced for a subpar Motel -
- Stephen (6/5): - The desk staff are friendly, and the cleaning staff are thorough. But the property is starting to show its age, the furniture looks worn (the wood was chipping or splintering away on nightstands and dresser), the wall had holes that looked like drywall mounts, and the in-room wifi was almost non-existent. It's fine as a place to shower and sleep, but it would be depressing to spend any significant amount of time here.
- Barbhagerson (2/5): Horrible - Never again. Floor gave way u see my grandson. He is very lucky he did not fall into the hole that was at least 6 feet deep
- Lisa (8/5): - It was convenient for the wedding we were traveling to & priced right.
- Allen (9/5): Superb -
- Norman (2/5): - They did not have our reservation at all!! Not the reservation number and not our name so I had to pay twice Request refund from you. Please respond. Norman Hjelmeland. 515 278 4460 our phone number or hjelhawks@aol. Com
- Olive (7/5): Try to start in Decorah if you can; skip this one! - Stayed here for Nordic Fest weekend. The room was spacious. The check in process was a mess. The front space lady was nice but so stressed. The computer system was down. She almost gave us keys to a room with people in it because they were teaching occupied rooms on sticky notes.
Only 3 pillows on the king bed and really rough paint jobs everywhere. It just didn’t feel loved.
The AM staff seemed rude as they were on their cell phones and didn’t seem interested in serving guests. 😬
- KURT (4/5): - Upon arrival, we found the bathroom floor to be covered in hair. In fact, we wiped up a giant handful before we could even use the restroom. So gross!!! Otherwise clean, but everything seemed shabby and out of date.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good
- Joe (6/5): Good for a stop and rest but wouldn’t stay multiple nights - Good location Pillows too small (they were like throw pillows) never stayed in a hotel with a sink not in the bathroom a little musty smelling.
- jamato225761 (6/5): Pillows, sink and shower strange - Hotel a little outdated, sink outside of bathroom weird. Shower made funny noises. No full size pillows
- Dana (7/5): Good -
- Rainjer (6/5): - Nice clean hotel. Very nice staff and clean rooms just wish they had more breakfast options
- Jim (10/5): - well kept establishment
- Becky (8/5): - Friendly staff
- Ken (6/5): - Staff was great and everything was clean. Breakfast was limited but reasonable. Facilities seemed well worn, but also well maintained. Not bad for a destination that is more than a little bit off of the beaten path.
- Jason (8/5): Bad situation turned out well - After having this stay booked for 3 months in advance and calling the hotel to confirm our stay and then find out the hotel can't find anything. After being on the phone for 30 minutes to find out what happened and dealing with the hotel manager our stay turned out good. After getting checked into our room the room wasn't ready like I was told from the front desk. When I called and talked to the hotel 3 days prior to the stay I was told that everything would be taken care of before checking in and it wasn't. We had to go down and get the roller way and bedding ourselves and the other things that I was told that would be taken care before the stay. Not a bad place to stay but the management and staff need to be on the same page also housekeeping. For the 3 days that we stayed we had to go down and get towels and other things all that was done was the garbage was empty and the floor was clean. No towels and garbage bags replaced like they should. My family have stayed at this hotel multiple times before and this is the first time ever we had to get everything from the front desk when housekeeping is there doing all the other rooms.
- Brenda (8/5): - Really good value for the money. Courteous staff, room very comfortable. thank you.
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Lori (8/5): - 👍
- Chad (6/5): - First of all, the staff was very helpful and friendly. They worked hard to keep the breakfast area well supplied during breakfast. When we needed something from the front desk person, they were always friendly and quick to help.
The breakfast was pretty simple with mostly cold items, but on Saturday and Sunday they did provide some sausage links, and Sunday also had cheese omelettes.
Our room, and the property as a whole was pretty clean, which is an absolute must for us.
On the downside, we registered for a two bed room, but received a room with one bed. It was a king bed, but we are a family of four and that wasn't going to work. The desk worker said the hotel was fully booked that night we so we couldn't switch room, but she did offer us a roll-away cot, which we decided was sufficient for our family.
We did experience some problems with the TV, and the Wi-fi was spotty at best, which we hope gets corrected soon. If we travel here again, we'll consider staying in this hotel, but we definitely will confirm ahead of time that we'll be getting the room that register for.
