- Lynda (10/5): Best Barcelona Hotel - This is my second stay at this hotel. I will stay here every time I go to Barcelona. The location is perfect. It is right at the center of the city. The hotel itself is great. The front desk staff is so nice and very helpful. The rooms are so spacious and comfortable. The beds are nice and soft. The air conditioning is nice and cold which is rare in Europe. The restaurant has good food if you are tired and don't want to venture out for dinner. Stay here and you will enjoy your stay in Barcelona.

The lobby smelled incredible when you stepped into it coming from the busy street outside. There was always plenty of ice cold water to drink a quick glass before heading upstairs after exploring the city. Highly recommend - you won't be disappointed!
- Brian (6/5): - Location is the strongest attribute. The hotel is near major points of interest and easy access to public transport. The property itself is a unimpressive from the word go. A tiny lobby with two chairs for waiting tucked under a staircase. entry door leads to super busy sidewalk and heavy traffic street. Once checked in you take the stairs or a lobby elevator to the next level where you then exit one elevator and enter a second elevator that takes you to the floors with sleeping rooms. Was not happy about this added hassle every time we left or returned. Room was small and had limited amenities. Not iimpressed.

The local bus, Aero bus and metro were located footsteps away from the hotel. The selections of cafes, restaurants and mini-markets were endless.

I deliberately chose this location due to its very close proximity to all main transport links- airport bus, metro, hop on bus, general bus etc. I was not disappointed and not only was the hotel very beautiful it was situated in a place where we could easily get around the metro system across the city. It was also handy for fast food places and shopping, but the hotel restaurant & bar were ideal too. Staff were very helpful and polite at all times. The nearby gelato store was out of this world! Would highly recommend to others and would definitely consider staying here again if I returned to Barcelona.

- Robin J (2/5): Walked to a lower priced hotel 2 blocks further aw - I have 2 bookings made through Hotels.com for a total of 4 nights (1 -5 May 2025) at Catalonia Square. However, upon arrival I was told that there was a pipe leakage, and I was walked to another hotel under the chain 2 blocks away. I later found out that the Catalonia Passeig de Gràcia Hotel, where I was walked to had lower rates for all 4 nights of my stay, which comes to a total difference of nearly EUR249. Hotels.com tried to deflect my request of getting a refund of the difference by saying that cancellation is not refundable. I had to repeatedly tell the different agents at Hotels.com multiple times that I am not seeking to cancel my bookings as I have already checked-in and not going to inconvenience myself to move again. Long and short, I am only offered a total of EUR 21 for the difference, which is very far from the actual difference. If anyone choose to stay at any property in Hotel Catalonia chain near Placa Catalunya, always select the lower price, as you might end up walked from higher priced ones to a lower priced one.

The only disappointment was the smell of "smoking" in the hall, however management did say they would look in to this. It did not spoil out stay at all as could not smell anything in our room. We would definitely stay there again when we return to Barcelona.

- fman03 (10/5): Perfect for Barcelona marathon - Came here for the Barcelona marathon and the hotel is perfectly located. 5 mins walk from the start and 10 mins walk from the finish. Didn’t need to use the bag drop. Hotel even put out an early morning breakfast for runners. Rooms are spacious and beds comfortable. Our room faced the main road but no noise due to the double glazing. Beds comfortable Staff was very friendly and overall very good service.

Easy access to busses and metro station. 24hours convenient store just beside the hotel and opposite of the hotel. Corte de Inglés supermarket is just opposite if you need to buy some supplies and at very reasonable prices. Overall good hotel. Comfortable, clean and helpful staff
- MichelleD402 (8/5): Decent hotel - Catalonia Square Hotel was in a good location, close to the train station and a short walk to La Rambla. The room itself was modern with a small balcony overlooking the busy streets below. We stayed in a double room with two single beds pushed together which was odd, we would have preferred an actual double bed. The breakfast was small but nicely prepared and they had wine! Big tick! The pool area was small but it did the job after a busy day sightseeing. Would recommend.

The sick is outside the bathroom and within the walkway of the room entrance .. anytime you was you will have water splashing on the path so you have to dry it after every use. The complete bathroom & shower is glass so there is no privacy .. moreover the shower door does not seal so again, water will spill on the floor ( walk way ) as you go in and out of the room .. we have to use towels to dry the floor The suite has 2 TV’s which are adjacent to each other, and since they are from the same make and model, you will have really hard time trying to switch only one TV on or off as the other one will do the same ..

Could not say when a child pays full rate for breakfast, I was clear with its a 3y old you also got the passport info. Toilet door hinge in room 406 should be adjusted cannot close fully. Overall 5 of 5.

- Berbs (10/5): Pleasant stay - Well located hotel for the main tourist areas in Barcelona, close to a couple of metro stops. Smooth, friendly check in. Room was clean and modern. Decent buffet breakfast. There was a bit of road noise, sirens and dustbin lorries, despite the double glazing and the room being on the fifth floor, but not enough to be bothersome. The basin and shower drains were a bit smelly when the water was running. Great place to stay for the marathon weekend as the starting corrals were outside the front door.

Everyone was professional and courteous! Vanessa checked us in and she was a sweetheart! Stay here- pictures of rooms were 100% accurate.

They helped me find the US consulate website and printed out all the forms for me to apply for an emergency passport ( I got picked pocket at one of the restaurants in the neighborhood unfortunately and lost my passport). The hotel was very clean and quiet despite being on a major street. Very convenient with Starbucks, Cafes, Supermarket all within 3 mins walk. Will definitely stay there again!

- Amir (10/5): - Excellent place to stay if you’re in Barcelona and want to experience the main tourist attractions such as the Gaudi houses and the cathedrals. The busiest shopping street is right around the corner, metro is a 5 minute walk, and most major tourist attractions are only 15-20 minutes walks from the hotel. Staff were excellent, very helpful from the moment we got there to the moment we left. And breakfast was delicious as well, large selection and cooked fresh!

- 503jandyr (10/5): a hop away from Las Ramblas - Our junior suite with a small shallow pool on the balcony was unique and enjoyed by our grandchildren during the hot afternoons. The hotel was across the street from El Corte Ingles shopping mall which has a market and food stalls in the basement and was super convenient to buy drinks, snacks, pastries and Iberico ham. McDonalds was 2 doors away. Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas were a short walk away. We can access most of the Gothic Quarters without taxi's and caught the hop-on-hop-off bus at Placa Catalunya. Hotel staff was very friendly and greeted us each time we entered the lobby. We chose this Catalonia Hotel for its central location, metro access and being close to the airport express bus stop.

- regevd (10/5): Perfect stay at the hotel Catalonia Square 4* sup - For those who are interested in a real welcome hotel in Barcelona We returned this morning from Barcelona and it is really important for me to praise all the amazing staff who made our vacation so perfect. We traveled as a family with three children (10,10,13) and stayed in the hotel for five nights. The hotel is Centrally located in the Eixample area, still central but in a quiet place. It’s a lovely hotel, with large and spacious rooms, pleasant and very clean. The reception is quite small, it won't disappoint you. On the first floor, there is a spacious lobby and places to sit and computer stations, and breakfast is also served there (in my opinion, it's a bit much expensive, but there are many cafes nearby where you can enjoy a different meal every day). I really like the concept that every morning is a different beginning, The hotel staff does their best to make our stay pleasant, answering any request, always available and with a big smile, starting with the receptionists, room service and management. In the middle of the vacation, we went on a week for a cruise, at the end of we returned to a rest for a day at the hotel for a night flight home, Natalia made sure we had a good room at a fair price, and the morning we arrived, the staff was ready to receive us with joy. The hotel has a pool and a gym, is in the heart of things, restaurants, shops, attractions and within walking distance of all centers. The staff provided us with tips and recommendations for everything that can be done in the city - the children had a great time. After a long red eye flight we got to the hotel at 7am, requested if we can get the room earlier than 3pm check in time, we didn’t get the room until 3:30pm which is past the check in time. Location of the hotel is convenient and good to explore the city, we find the price a little more expensive for what it has to offer. No self laundry and elevator takes forever.

Be aware that larger cars cannot fit in the hotel garage, but they do have an accommodation option. Ours luckily did (a midsize hybrid SUV rental). We didn’t try the breakfast or dining, but the dining room looks lovely. The menu was a little limited if you have children. That being said, there are soooo many options right out the door. The room was lovely, albeit compact in a big city way. We had a family suite and our young daughters LOVED the bunk beds. The step up to the water closet and shower caused many a stubbed toe (more on us than the hotel!) but were very nice. The shower was one of the best I’ve seen in Europe—such great water pressure and a fantastic rain shower. I’d recommend to everyone.
