Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great overnight stay. - Room was very clean and comfortable. Only issue was a loud fan on the heater. Great value for the room rate.
- James (8/5): - Fine for a short stay. Called for a late check in. Prompt help at 1 am. Basic older motel. Basic for travel sleep.
- Yvette (8/5): - Clean..very noisy as it is right on a busy street...breakfast was nothing to brag about...but overall a good stay
- Chris (10/5): - Easy, friendly check in. Nice room for the price.
- David (8/5): - Was ok for a short stay. Was there just to sleep. Was traveling through. Breakfast very simple. Not Much. Staff friendly
- Randy (4/5): - Carpets were dirty. Junk piled on sidewalk in front of some rooms. No deadbolt or other security lock on room door. Bathtub was peeling.
- johneE2405BB (8/5): Friendly - The desk clerk was friendly and helpful with our questions. We liked the room because the sheets were clean, the room was clean and smelled good. The temperature was comfortable inside and the heater was not noisy. The refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker worked. The shower had good water pressure and the water temperature was excellent. The parking area had good lighting. The price was budget friendly and even included a limited breakfast of toast, cereal and milk. It’s an older style motel
- Verified traveler (6/5): Barely adequate - Parts of the room were very clean, other parts were filthy (behind the nightstand, the window sill in the shower). The porcelain tub must have been sealed at 1 point and the sealant was pulling up. The walls were literally paper thin. No blanket at all. Just a sheet and thin old fashioned bedspread!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not for the picky...but adequate lodging. Management was friendly. Heat worked okay...tub faucet wouldnt shut off. Lots of ice available but machine was dirty. We got a good nights sleep. Kinda cute motor hotel. With some work it could be nice.
- Claudia (10/5): Clean hotel with friendly service - Great older, affordable motel. Check in was quick and staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Would stay again if ever in the Dalhart area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The motel is a great value! I felt completely safe. The employees were very congenial. Having breakfast included was an added benefit.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the owners are really nice, the place is clean, and the price is good, so I hate to write a bad review. But there are problems. If you use a sound machine set on max, you’ll love it here. If not, you’ll hate the road and railroad noise as well as hearing your neighbors thru thin walls. And the very noisy HVAC turning on and off. And the WiFi is FAR slower than just using your cell. World Wide Wait.
- Barbara (6/5): Ok for an old motel - The clerk was very nice upon check-in. This is an older “roadside” motel so honestly, I wasn’t expecting a lot. As I am a smoker, I can always tell when a non-smoking room has been smoked in for years and their attempt to cover it up is a little overwhelming. I was very disappointed having to listen to the heater run all night long as the “auto” function was not working so choices where high or low. It said it offered breakfast, but we never found where that was and at 6:30am, the lobby was still closed.
- Tim (8/5): Perfect for the price. - As a male traveling alone the decor is not important to me. Comfort, cleanliness of the room and bathroom are. I was totally satisfied with the room. And those complaining about traffic noise it's on a major US highway. I just used a sleep fan app and slept fine. Room had a mini fridge, microwave & coffee pot. Neat little town with a nice steakhouse. I will probably come back the next time I head this direction.
- Jody (8/5): Noisy but nice - Quaint, older motel, but maintained well and was clean. Staff was excellent. Very friendly and professional. Only major complaint was the noise. Trains, semis and cars all night. Paper thin walls mean you can hear everything (including next door baby crying half the night). Obviously there’s nothing the staff can do about their location. Overall a decent stay...and at the price point, it’s hard to beat.
- Rachael (10/5): Cute and comfortable - Cute room loved the heater in the bathroom!
- Javi (8/5): - Thank you for the clean and comfortable room. We enjoyed our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No frills and very old but super clean and great value
- Verified traveler (8/5): - no stopper in tub wife couldnot take a bath. we stayed there because of the breakfast there was none because of the viru we stayed at another motel the next evening they had a bag breakfast for their guest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good enough - It was a good hotel for the price. Adequate for getting some sleep.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean rooms. Retro in decor, good price for a one night stay.
- J (6/5): Basic lodging - Room was dated and bathroom was small and old. The bed was comfortable. The room worked in a pinch. No frills.
- Courtney (8/5): Retro motel - I imagine this motel was built in the 50’s. It has been fairly well cared for. We had a room with two queen beds. It was spacious and unique. Interesting color scheme... 😄
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lackluster - Train track noise throughout the night, and shabby carpet and linens didn't warrant even the moderate price I paid. There was a burn hole in the bed spread and mascara stain on a towel. Bring earplugs
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It had everything needed for an overnight stay. It was clean. Left early before breakfast was open. Unfortunately something perfumed or scented was used and I have an allergy to that.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the room decor, as well as the lamp with the phone charger! Thank you.
- Verified traveler (8/5): ice stay - The service, room, cleanliness were all what I would expect. We didn’t interact with staff other than for check in. We did not go for breakfast as we left earlier than it was served. All was appropriate for the cost. Only drawback was the noise from the highway, we just kept the heater fan on to run constantly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The motel is clean and very well kept.
Management is very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Large rooms. - Room was very large and comfortable. Bathroom could use a little updating but was adequate. Enjoyed staying there.
- Jennifer (4/5): - Owners wife was pushy and rude breakfast was not served until 7 am.
- Linda (8/5): Nice retro motel - Nice retro motel. It was clean and right off the highway.
- Douglas (6/5): Okay in a pinch - A very dated facility. The continental I wouldn't really call a continental breakfast.
- WearyTravellers (6/5): - Nothing Unique, price seemed good. But, it turns out this location is very close to Multiple Beef Feedlots. Plus the Train through Dalhart, TX is less than 1.5 blocks behind the motel. Rt 54 is in front, so Road noise by Semi's & autos are only a little less than the train whistles.
We did have a working fridge & Microwave. Linens were OK, room condition was OK. Walls between rooms were not very thick. There were only 3 cars in the parking lot with approx. 20 rooms. We checked in 1st and yet the 2nd ck in folks were put right next door to us. It seemed awkward for us to hear shower, toilet etc, and I guess they heard all the same noises from our room. We thought the owners could have left some space between us, considering only 3 cars. Lastly, only cold cereal, honey buns & coffee, milk, & orange juice for Continental Breakfast. We skipped it and went to McDonald's. Oh, Floor in Bathroom was sticky...
- Jeffery (8/5): - Was very satisfied with the stay would stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overpriced Overrated - The room was over priced for location and amenities- the pillows were average at best, the bed was ok. The WiFi was useless in the room, guest had to be outside to use WiFi. For about $15 or $20 less it would have been a better value. I was given considerable grief concerning my service dog, ultimately it was resolved.
- Steve (4/5): Very unpleasant stay - I have no clue how this motel got 4 stars!!! When we got there it was so hot it literally took 2+ hours for the room to cool off enough to stand to even hold hands with my husband. When we woke up both of our backs hurt. Their breakfast was a joke. All I can say is you get what you pay for.
- Deanna (8/5): Would stay again! - Overnight stop on way home. Great deal for one night. Basic. Clean. Comfortable. Slept great! Only cereal or small pastry for breakfast. Shower only.....no tub stopper for children to bathe. Shower water is warm only....never hot. Room was clean and staff friendly and professional. GreT deal for an overnight stop! Would definitely stay again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Cheap. Needs a good cleaning. small ice buckets. a little noisy
- Deanna (8/5): Clean, comfortable room - Family of four stayed overnight on our way to Albuquerque. It was a basic, clean room with a comfortable bed. A little outdated and no stopper in the tub. Shower head was really low and water temperature was not hot, just warm. Breakfast was 3 types of cereal, prepackaged honeybuns, coffee and juice. Decent, no-frills room that was fine for an overnight stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a very nice little hotel especially for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean but needs updating in bathroom.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is an older motel that is well kept. The room was fine. Beds are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is cold cereal and some mini doughnuts and you had to stand up because there was no table. The coffee was good. This motel is OK but is over priced. This is a $49 room selling at $75. This is like a Motel 6.
- Bruce (8/5): Dalhart - Everything was good. The breakfast is lacking a little, but for the price that’s fine.
- James (10/5): Overnight stay - Nice retro room, bed was comfortable, train blocked out by air conditioner. Poor continental breakfast as they just had a couple cereals and coffee, no place to eat either except to take to your room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was clean and comfortable. It was a little light on the breakfast that was available. We would stay again if the need arose.
- Greg (6/5): Not much bang for buck. - A bit expensive for what you get and pay extra for pet. Low lighting, frayed towels, etc. I paid $65+ for what I consider a $45 property. Noisy area with truck and train traffic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to find easy check in people at desk nice with checking in late in night
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Classic Route 66 era motel that has done an impressive job of maintaining clean and attractive rooms without losing retro feel. Spacious rooms. Night manager was gracious about our extremely late arrival. I'd happily stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pretty good price. Clean rooms but no blanket on beds, only sheet and bedspread. Continental breakfast was lame, only a few mini powdered donuts and 3 different cold cereals.
- frank (6/5): place to sleep - slept good -------- no coffee and no place to sit to eat what ceral there was
- Cynthia (8/5): Quick Stop - The room was large and the beds comfortable. We do enjoy parking at the door to the room.
- davesU930TI (8/5): Great retro hotel - We took a chance on this little 1950’s hotel and are pleased we did. Nicely furnished and well kept, right in downtown Dalhart. There are brand new places all around but our bed was comfortable there were lots of tv channels, a mini fridge and microwave, and good wifi. All for $65, not $135.
No coffee in the room and no powdered eggs and limp bacon for brt. We like it!
- sarahtH3948EJ (4/5): Did the job - We found this hotel after driving for 2 hours unable to find availability Anywhere else. The whole town smells bad due to agriculture business and the room had a bad smell which made me wake up with a killer headache. Other than that, the manager was very nice and the rooms seemed clean although old and it had a refrigerator which is always a huge plus! Overall a comfortable one- night stay except for the smell.
- marksalida (4/5): Dissappointed - I was traveling back from through Texas and my wife recommended me to stay at this motel due to it being rated 5 stars. Wrong. The beds were clean but the baseboards and bathroom needed to be cleaned better. It did have a fridge and M/W. The fridge barely got cold and the wave sounded like it was going to explode. Its obvious that there are long term renters there. Walls are thin and you can hear what is going on in the next room. I wouldn't stay here again.
- GJG-13 (8/5): way back from Mesa - Nice clean hotel located centrally. The breakfast was to be continental but it was far from continental. But I guess you get what you pay for. good place at a reasonable price. Not a 5 star hotel but worth the money
- B9331XCjohnh (10/5): Clean and Hospitable - The room was acceptable, well kept, and the bathroom was in great condition. The midnight TV experience was watchable, and also the sheets were clean. We felt safe and secure. The outdoor smell is a fresh unique experience that left its mark. Thank you
- billrK634DD (10/5): The Sands is great!!! - We had a group of 13 stay at The Sands in Dalhart last week, so we had several rooms. The rooms were everything we wanted ---- neat, clean, warm and well cared for. You can tell the friendly staff takes great pride in providing a high quality stay for their guests. We will be back, for sure!
- 632benjamint (10/5): Very nice motel - The rooms are clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff is extremely friendly. If you are staying in Dalhart, this is a great motel, with comfortable beds, good TV sets,. Just very well run and friendly. We always enjoy our stay here.
- kelseyr616 (10/5): Great Hospitality !!! - The receptionist was awake for my late arrivial and offered me the best welcome blessing i ever had at a motel. This property reminded me of Florida on vacation when I saw the lighted Palm tree at night. Rooms were clean, comfortable, spacious and overall excellent. Continental breakfast was wonderful which filled my stomach through lunch hours. Great nice sleep and enjoyed my stay at this little property.
