Guest Reviews
- George (6/5): - Conveniently located near public transit and some sites of interest, the hotel itself is somewhat difficult to locate in the warren of street near the station. The rooms, though not particularly small, were not well laid out or furnished; for example, there was no place to put open luggage, no towel racks, etc. Breakfast options were limited but adequate. Free WiFi Internet access was only available in one 30-minute block once every 24 hours (which is not the same as once per calendar day, as this restriction meant that if, for example, on the first day one accessed the WiFi Internet at 7:00 PM, one would only be able to access that free WiFi Internet after 7:00 PM the second day, and so on.
- Sarah (10/5): - It could do with a lick of paint in the corridors but apart from that clean & tidy. Would definitely stay again & recommend to friends & family. Perfect walking distance from train stations.
- Robert (4/5): - Old, poor shower, uncomfortable bed and pillows. Noisy rooms with no soft close on cupboards. No hair dryer, no minibar, no iron or ironing board
- Lori Salow (10/5): - Good
- Stephen (6/5): - There just seemed to be queues in this hotel all the time, to check in, for breakfast. Which was not the most efficient service, although the food itself was pretty good.
Biggest bug bare, was my hubbys Guinness was in a Budweiser glass…
Very noisy during the night outside, could do with better soundproofing windows
- Jaynee (8/5): - I thought the hotel was good value and conveniently situated for Kings Cross. Staff were helpful. The area nearby is a little run down but did not feel unsafe. A shame there is no free WIFI though having breakfast is a bonus
- Thomas (6/5): Good location but smallish rooms - Location was great - 10 minute walk from kings cross underground. Breakfast buffet was good too. Two major negatives - rooms are tiny. Hard to navigate room with luggage. Shower also tiny.
- Stacey (10/5): - This was my first time at a Travelodge and I'd gladly return. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and more spacious than I'd expected and the bed was very comfortable. My only minor complaint was that the water was scalding hot coming out of the bathroom tap at the sink. The room has a kettle, which was a nice touch. Overall it was a convenient place to stay and as an older solo traveler, it met all of my needs nicely.
- Dharmendra (2/5): wost hotel to stay Nightmare - Eight days no room service was done no towels were changed nor the bed was done during these days nothing. Moreover it was the same breakfast menu evry single day with items reducing as days passed and the last day there was no fruits, crossent, terrible
- Trevor (6/5): - The staff are very good, the facilities clean, but the twin room is very small and extremely hot in hot weather with nothing but a fan.
- Donald (10/5): - Very accessible to trains to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Very quite.
- Shirley (2/5): - The hotel room was dirty, the table had stains left on it as well as hair in a few places. The remote control was filthy , it was horrible to touch, the kettle was dusty and dirty.
The room was very hot and stuffy, we asked for fans and none were given to us although they said they would , no cold water available for drinking , the smell coming through from the window which was opened was not pleasant either.
We could not stay there so we left. We noticed other people leaving for similar problems.
Although we did not use the room at all and left after we tried to negotiate for fans they have refused to refund us the money paid.
Absolutely terrible experience, terrible place, unhelpful staff. Would not recommend this place at all.
- Adrian (10/5): Outstanding value! - Admittedly Wi-Fi quality or a luxurious stay were not amongst my priorities when choosing this hotel but to crash at a safe, clean and lower cost place in central London were. To these priorities the place delivers an outstanding value, more so than any other place I have ever stayed to in the area. Will definitely return!
- Anthony (6/5): - THE WIFI. IT IS A SCAM. 30MNS PER 24H. AND YOU PAY AND IT DOES NOT WORK.
- Allison (10/5): - The location was key as well as the you g lady who received us on the first day. Hence, qe qill definitely, return.
- Frederick (6/5): - Quite simple/mediocre in every respect. And quite poor in every regard for the cost (ie poor value for money). Met minimum standards but at a low level. Would not look to return.
- Lydia (8/5): - Convenient location. Room was ok and quiet.
- Ali (8/5): -
Was convenient location.
But outside the property needs sweeping.
- Tanya (8/5): - Very nice for the price:))
- Ian (10/5): - Staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you
- Chun Ki (8/5): - There's no aircon, only a fan. Cleaner is supposed to clean the room once a week. No fridge. Only liquid dispenser to be used as shampoo and body shower gel. Staff are friendly. 7 mins walk to King's cross station.
- Colin (6/5): - Staff really good, friendly, informative. Rooms / bathrooms are kinda worn and also only narrow single beds so room not the “standard” modern travelodge size.
- sandra (4/5): - No chair, dresser, or hair dryer. Room warm and no way to adjust. Very, very basic. Even the soap was one for all uses - shampoo, shower, conditioner. Area around the hotel was littered.
Would rate it a 1 or 2 star at most.
- susan (8/5): a fine stay - It's about 10 min walk from Kings Cross station. Room was clean but small and basic. Breakfast was pretty nice, feel like in US. It took long to check in and there was a problem with my room key card. It won't open and I had to go down stairs and waited in line again to talk to the front desk. It was annoying. The staff were friendly though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Value for the price and short stay - The room was simple and small but clean, bed was comfortable and crisp clean sheets. Bathroom was tiny, too, ckean towels and overall room was clean. For a few hours stay it was fine. A bit of a walk from the public transportation, not a great street to go for a walk but felt safe. Continental breakfast, good choices but perhaps the service at the restaurant can improve. The set of silverware on mh table contained a dirty fork and people were in search of limited supply of silverware but stuff everywhere was friendly. The hotel is too big and some big crowds were noisy at night.
- jimraymond (4/5): - Lobby was nice, bar and restaurant were nice. Bar and restaurant were nice. Front desk clerk was brain dead. Asked my name 4 different times. Screwed up my credit card. Rooms were sparce and could use a scrub. Rugs in hallway were filthy. No air conditioning. Fellow running the bar said not to walk in the area of the hotel at night.
Never again
- Natalia (6/5): 3 days at Travelodge - Rooms were clean, small by American standard but beds were comfortable. There were no wash rags provided and bathroom was small. Breakfast had the same items everyday.... Your choice of Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, beans, oatmeal, toast , fruit and croutons. 10 mins walk from trains and BTW there is construction in the hotel but it didn't disturb us.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disrespectful staff attitude - I booked the above hotel through hotel.com. I was extremely disappointed that Travelodge branded hotel will even have a hotel which does not have airconditioning in the weather that seriously need it. The description stated in hotel.com does not have much information at all. however, i made the decision to book Travelodge simply based on my impression to the brand hotels in Hong Kong. It was so unexpected that I have to accept to stay in the hotel which does not have an air conditioning.
At 3am, my friend would like to pass by and say hello to me after his bar work. He is my friend I knew at the time i was living in London, we did not see each other over 5 years time. I bought my friend in and would like to chat through a bottle of beer, he did not intend to stay. However, the staff shouted to us and said that he does not have a card and is not allowed to come in. I tried to explain that my room is a double room and he is not intend to stay long. He did not let me finish and said after xx o’clock no additional guest is allowed. Because I knew that I did not register two guest for the room in the first place, so I was trying to suggest if I can pay for the difference for 2 guests in the room. He rejected sharply and then turn around shouting to my friend "you cannot be here, stay out of the entrance”. I immediately told him to place attention to his attitude he turned the fingers and blamed me I beached the policy.
- William (8/5): Great value for the price! - Location was great for food and proximity to the tube. Room was clean and the food was very good at the hotel restaurant! Its not fancy but comfortable with great service.
- pat (6/5): - Air conditioner did not work, so we used the fan that was provided. The next 2 nights we opened the windows and it was bearable. The tub was an old-fashioned one with high sides, a little hard to step in and out for a shower. We had to put a towel down on the bottom of the tub so it wouldn't be so slippery. The breakfast was pretty good however and the hotel workers at the desk were helpful.
- Raminta (6/5): Hi - Room was clean.Nice linens.Breakfast was good and plenty. But Saturday morning was just cold breakfast. And full breakfast will start at 11 am.???? We are not traveling on weekends ? .Thats was strange. Also receptionist offering 30 min early check inn for 10 pounds.
- Xavier (8/5): Comfortable hotel - The hotel was clean and the staff were extremely helpful. I arrived at around 7am and I was seeking to check in early and I was happy to pay the full rate. The staff advised me I could complete an early check in for only ten pounds if I waited until 12pm. I took them up on this offer and they even held my bags so I could explore the city.
I had no problems with the staff or the room and I would recommend this to anyone travelling on a budget. Super close to St Pancras too which was terrific.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Tired - Our experience was that the staff were welcoming. The hotel itself was very tired and there was construction on the elevators but the whole building was tired and not very clean. Hairdryers needed to be signed out at the front desk which was odd. The beds were old and uncomfortable and the bathrooms again tired. I fought the shower curtain the whole time. Good news lots of hot water.
- leo (8/5): - Hotel under renovation all for the good. But u r under no inconvenience whatsoever. Good beds good rates close to trains.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing hotel - The hotel was disappointing. There was limited access to internet (only two devices allowed), there was no hot water one day, one room had broken power sockets so one could not use one's laptop in the room, and the service was very poor. I tried to call multiple times during the day twice to speak with reception and no one ever picked up.
- Fred (8/5): Great location. Walking distance to train station - Older well maintained hotel. Very nice staff. Only issue was the when showers were turned on, the plumbing made a lot of noise.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was as depicted. Half of the hotel was being renovated at the time, so it was a bit dingy. Pretty sure the breakfast sausage gave us food poisoning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to the train station - Near Kings cross railway station and within walking distance
- Billy (4/5): Not enough facilities and room was not cleaned - If I get it right, there are 80+ room in one floor, at least the 3rd floor which I stayed, and 5~6 stories totally. However only 2 elevators available during my 3 nights' stay. So you could expect during the morning - breakfast / check-out time it was a nightmare trying to get into an elevator.
Plus there is not hair dryer in the room. You need to go to the front desk to ask for one. I don't know how many of them are available but unfortunately I never get one for those 3 nights. (Considering the amount of rooms...) So be warned, bring your own hair dryer if you plan to stay here!
The worst of all, one of the days they didn't clean up our room. I had to go downstairs again to the front desk getting our new towels, and tell the staff our room was not cleaned. Surprisingly she did not even show any apology at all! She merely gave us an EXCUSE saying the cleaning staff might forget or something. After that I said I'll put the garbage by the door, which means around the corridor. If you guys care about what other customs feel about the hotel, you might want to send someone to clean it up. Guess what? The garbage was still there until we check out the next morning. Only during check out, the lady, probably a manager, asking how our experience with the hotel was then said sorry and they would find out what went wrong and fix that.
Anyway, based on these issues above you could tell there are some problems within the system of the hotel. Not just the hardware is good or not.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location... But that's about it - It was average. For the price, it's great for central London. It's very easy get to anywhere in London from kings cross. The hotel itself is ok. Food is not good, wouldn't recommend eating there. Rooms are basic. But if it's just a cheap room you want, then go for it
- Verified traveler (4/5): review - - half the time there were repair works after midnight
- on several occasions I was woken up by drilling works at 4-5 a.m.
- when escalated to an employee, they said I should go to the reception about those issues, instead of reporting it themselves to the responsible person
- after the 7th day, the room cleanliness started to slowly degrade (11 total nights)
- the room doors are really noisy and I could hear a blast every time a neighbor went in/out at nights
- YING TING (6/5): NOT FREE WIFI. FREE WIFI FOR ONLY 30 MINUTES. - Carpet is old & dirty. Elevator is really old and making noise. Biggest issue is the free wifi is only 30 minutes. It says free wifi when i booked, and it did not say, free wifi for 30 minutes. concierge said Hotel.com has put up wrong info. I don't really care. I was on business trip. Wifi is very important. I booked the hotel for its location and FREE WIFI.
- Rob (6/5): A Stop Gap Only - We used this hotel on two occasions during our stay in London only as it was close to train stations for our out of town day trips. First room on the second floor was old and dirty, especially the carpets. Second room was on the fifth floor and had been updated to some degree and was cleaner. Beds were comfortable however. After a long and tiring journey from Canada, we arrived at the hotel at 2.15pm. As check in was not till 3pm they wanted to charge 10 pounds to check us in 45 minutes early as that was company policy. We refused and waited.
- Mike (2/5): Major renos underway - No indication on Expedia of the major renos that were underway. Lots of noise. Not enough staff on front desk to handle people, lots of things missing from rooms - no A/C, no tissues, only one or two towels, no facecloths. Free Wifi turned out to be 30 minutes of free WiFi per 24 hours
- Rose (8/5): A comfortable stay! - There are a lot of things I like about this hotel. First of all, the bed! This hotel has the best bed and pillows. I usually find trouble sleeping in hotels due to their bed/pillows but with Travelodge, this wasn't a problem at all. The bed was so comfy that I would fall asleep as soon as I lied down. The four pillows were an extra bonus to my sleep. Then, I really need to give "thumbs up" to the breakfast selection. It had a very wide range of choices to accommodate different tastebuds, and most importantly it's unlimited.
The room was also very clean and the housekeeping team did a great job to ensure my stay was very comfortable every single day.
The only drawback I guess, was the distance from the station. It took a good 15-min to walk from the station and this is probably not a very convenient thing to do when you have some luggage to drag along.
- Marvie (4/5): Budget hotel close to Kings Cross Station - Hotel is old & dated. Check-in was ok but they didn't mention that there was no air conditioning in most rooms. Their reason was that if the room had windows that would open, then there is no air con. They did provide fans though, although not sure if this is enough in the hot summer months. There are no phones in the room so if you need to call the lobby, you have to go down to reception.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Just another hotel - Last stayed here four years ago and it was a much nicer place. It is tired. Room ready but had to pay 10 pounds to access prior to 3pm - or leave luggage in the reception area. If the room was ready why charge more. Staff were reasonably friendly. Breakfast good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Visiting Eglin AFB - This was a business trip where I was visiting Eglin AFB and the hotel was nearby and very clean which is important to me. I would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.
- Peter (6/5): Just a 3 star - My opinion was somewhat distorted by the fact that the hotel would not let me store luggage for 3 days while we did a side trip to the western front due to health and safety rules. Had to find somewhere else to store bags. My booking was for 7 days total. Reception did what they had to do. Didn't apologise for room card not working, just reactivated it and handed it back. Rooms have been partially renewed but certainly not by professionals.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Basic but good value for money. Pity the wifi is not free though. I would rather that over including breakfast for example ;)
- David (4/5): Not as advertised - What you see in the pictures is not real when you get to there. Hotel is really old, although they try to keep it clean. Wifi is free, but only 30min each 24 hours, if you want all day, you have to pay. This practice of hotels was acceptable perhaps some 5 years ago but not in these days.
On the positive side, breakfast was good, they have luggage storage, coffee and tea in the room.
- Kylie (4/5): - Old, falling apart. Door key needed to be replaced every time I left the room as it reliably demagnetised - EVERY time!! Pillows like rocks (but bed very comfy). Never again!
- whit (6/5): Your monies worth - This travelodge is located about a 5 minute walk to Kings cross/st. Pancras train/underground stop so transportation is excellent. The facility is an older rehab and while clean, a bit crumbly.
No room phone, INTERNET is only free 30 mins a day...but you can get it 24 hours a day for an additional charge. This is my only real complaint. There's a free breakfast...hot and cold. They have a bar but don't ask for anything more complicated then a gin and tonic. Staff is courteous and responsive. I would stay here again.
- Georgia (8/5): - Small. Simple. Easy. Clean. Cheap. If you just need somewhere to sleep this hotel is perfect. Comfortable bed, big breakfast offering, friendly staff. Nothing fancy but you get what you pay for.
- Denise (8/5): Old but nice - This hotel is 2 walking blocks from Kings crossing metro station. Also the train station. Can wheel my suitcase to the hotel. Excellent cooked breakfast. Rooms are old, but they are clean. The staff are helpful. You get 30 minutes free wifi a day, the You pay 3 euros a day for wifi. Great view if facing the street but can be very noisy, so if a light sleeper ask for a room facing the other streets. This was fairly cheap so thought it was worth my money.
- Richard (4/5): Horrid morning front desk staff - The front desk staff were pretty stubbornly STOOPID and extremely difficult. There was a tear in the carpet which caused me to trip. I asked them to cut that part out and nobody listened to me. The hotel maids never removed any dirty drinking glasses. I asked them to remove it and they never removed it, and this went on for five days. You could not tell the front desk staff ANYTHING because they just looked at you like you're just trying to cause trouble. For some reason, I had the feeling that they were trying to protect the manager from things that I wanted him to know about: but they made a judgement call that it was not important.
The light was out in the bathroom and I asked them to replace it. Of course they never replaced it.
At breakfast, the orange juice glasses were terribly and the little coffe spoons were also dirty. Nobody was checking the quality of the dishwasher. If the board of health had walked in, I doubt that they would have passed an inspection.
When I was getting ready to leave, I asked to see the manager and the front desk told me he was busy. I had asked many times and they kept saying the same thing. He was sitting right behind me and I didn't know it; but when I saw him he was in a meeting and I told him I had been trying to tell him about seven different things and his staff was protecting him. I asked him to leave his meeting for a few minutes and come up and see what I was talking about. He was very glad I did. I do not recommend staying here.
- Karen (8/5): Conveniently located near Kings Cross - An affordable place to stay in London. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Karen (6/5): Cheaper price for a reason! - The price on this hotel is cheaper than most for a reason! You will get what you pay for here. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean but basic and are VERY worn and dated. Wifi situation is poor. Avoid the lobby bathrooms if you can! . Location is fine. Close to Kings Cross Station (about a 10 min walk). Breakfast was good. All in all it was fine for the one night we were there but given the choice I wouldn't book it again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Over-booked and gave away my room. Had to wait 2 days before I got any answers from a manager.
Booking through Expedia was also not passed on correctly.
Some staff seemed useless in helping with enquiries
- Marc W (10/5): - An understated but fabulous hotel. Though my room was small, it was comfortable. The lobby was inviting and the bar/restaurant was accommodating. Breakfast was good. Best of all was the warm and friendly staff always ready to offer help and answers.
- Justin (6/5): - The hotel was ~600m from the Kings Cross/St Pancras train and underground station which made getting around very easy. There were a number of restaurants and pubs within a 5 minute walking radius. The hotel was basic in all aspects. It was clean. If you get a good rate it is a decent place to stay. WiFi is not free. When you pay you can use two devices on the same account.
- RAUL (6/5): Budget hotel near King´s Cross train station - The hotel equipment was rather simple and would use a refurbishment, especially the bathrooms. The room itself was quite big and the bed was comfortable. The wifi you get for free is only a 30mins long one time login per day. After the first day of our stay our access cards stopped working and apparently we were not the only clients with this problem. In general, the customer service was quite poor. The staff was rather rude in the majority of the cases and did not show any extra effort to make our stay pleasant. We will not come back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Comfortable bed, shower wasn't the best in terms of pressure
- Goce (6/5): Good location but small rooms - The hotel is in a very convenient location. However it needs some renovation. The beds are good and the size od the room i had was small
- Lynn (8/5): Con isn't and clean. Friendly and helpful staff - Short comfortable and clean.
- Marilyn (8/5): good - The overall stay was good. The pipes made such a noise in the middle of the nite i thought it was the fire alarm and left my room to go to the lobby. i also couldn't get the heat to work in my room and froze the first nite. Since there are no phones in the room i didn't bother going to the reception. i got help the next nite and was fine. The staff were all very pleasant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): handy for Eurostar - staff helpful, room quiet but may be noisy at the front
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a very conveniently situated hotel for travellers using Kings X / St P . Good prices but very basic . We had a rotten room involving a lot of stairs & no lift but luck of draw I guess
- Louise (8/5): Travellodge close to Kings Cross and amenities - This is something i am going to split down as the staff were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough to help us upon arrival and throughout our stay.
As for "EXPEDIA" - It is yourselves that i am Very UNHAPPY with as there was a problem when we arrived at the hotel and first off - i have emailed about this complaint to you on the 18th August - which is 3 weeks ago without even an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT! When we got to the venue, they confirmed that they hadn't received a "family/triple room" booking - just a "double" so at the point of arriving these rooms were naturally taken up. They offered another travellodge in a different location of London of which unfortuanately we couldn't take because we had an early departure from St Pancreas International the next day. They showed us the actual confirmation on their computer monitor so that we could see what had happened - and they also gave us "Complimentary breakfast" the next day. They really did go all out to meet our needs as best they could and we are MOST thankful for that.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good clean budget hotel - An excellent cheaper option in central London. Rooms have been recently renovated, staff were friendly and helpful and there is a 24 hour bar! Recommended.
- hayley (6/5): Close to kings cross station - A basic hotel with relatively good for the price. Lovely helpful staff.
- Rob (4/5): It was inexpensive - It's rundown, outdated and shabby. There are no nightstands. We used our suitcases to hold our books, glasses, etc.
The carpet was terribly stained. The bathroom was tiny but fairly clean.
- Andrew (4/5): Overnight stop before journeying to Europe - Overnight stop before journeying to Europe on Eurostar. Close proximity to St. Pancras is in its favour but not a lot else. It is a bog standard Travelodge but somewhat tatty and fraying at the edges. The gaffer tape on the carpet joins are a nice touch.
- monica (10/5): Modern, friendly, nice bar - Perfect hotel close to kings cross. Modern, bright, spotlessly clean. Friendly staff. And a big bar and restaurant. Breakfast was good value as well. Would definitely stay again. Only suggestion: free wifi would be nice!
- Paul (2/5): Unclean room with no towels - Awful hotel - nice reception and staff - but room was small, old, and no towels! - had to go down 5 floors [ no phone of course ] to complain - I was on way out to dinner having just checked in - they said they were too busy to send a housekeeper [ no staff ] so could I collect the towels myself! Sure as the bathroom had dried mud and hair, I should have asked for cleaning materials too! 1/10 experience. Avoid at all costs. Next time Premier Inn which was brilliant and cheaper. Travelodge is really shabby and behind the times.
- Michael (8/5): Good accommodation next to Kings Cross station - Good quality and clean room. Only stayed 1 night but used restaurant for evening meal and food was good quality at reasonable price. Staff very friendly. Great location at Kings Cross station only 5 minutes walk.
- CLIVE (8/5): OVERNIGHT STAY - COMFORTABLE ROOM. HOTEL IN GOOD LOCATION FOR TRANSPORT LINKS TO GET AROUND THE CITY.
GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, IMPRESSED WITH 24 HOUR RECEPTION.
IDEAL FOR A SHORT BREAK BE IT THEATRE, SPORT OR JUST SIGHTSEEING.
WOULD USE THIS TRAVELODGE AGAIN.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed in this hotel for just one night. Really handy for Kings Cross and St Pancras stations. The staff are excellent - very accommodating for tired travellers who arrived after 11.00pm in the evening. The room was disappointing. We booked a twin room, but it looked very tired. Although reasonably comfortable, the beds were tiny and I managed to fall out - not great. The heater cover fell off and was extremely dusty and dirty. The outer window would not close properly so there was quite a lot of road noise - despite secondary glazing. The bathroom was tiny and again quite tired. Breakfast was excellent - lots of choice and the café and bar area were clean and tidy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient for King's Cross - Convenient hotel for overnight stay. Had a roadside room which was noisy for traffic despite being on the third floor. If you have a choice of rooms pick an inner room. Breakfast was standard with choice of cereals and a cooked breakfast of sausages, scrambled eggs, bacon and baked beans. Croissant were soft and not oven crispy. if not pre-booked, breakfast cost £7.65 which is reasonable. Adequate, pleasant convenient.
- Stella (8/5): Adequate for our needs - We wanted a reasonably priced hotel within walking distance of St Pancras Station and this hotel fitted the bill.
- Anwar (4/5): It's ok - i stayed in many hotel around the world and this is the worst hotel I've stayed. I don't recomend this to anyone..
