• Verified traveler (4/5): Doesn't meet the minimum standard - Amezing location and the staff was nice but for the rest is a let down. No doors to the dorms and walls are very durty and old. The beds very old and uncomfortable.

• Tham (6/5): Good stay but can be improved - Inconsistent water pressure in bathroom. Best to pack own towel and toiletries (i.e. toothbrush and paste, shampoo and body wash). No TV in room. Free WIFI provided. Location near to Jonker Street and local night market (less than 1 km - about 5 minutes walk).
• Verified traveler (6/5): - The hostel was clean. Well located. The staff was really nice. But the mattress were too hard, the AC was too cold so it was hard to sleep well with the tiny blankets but if you turn off the AC it's too hot.
• Irene (8/5): - The staff is really friendly and shows the map to introduce the places to visit. The WIFI not really working well. The room is for the price you paid. Budget room so the bed and toilet is okay. When people walk on the wooden floor, you will hear the annoying sound. The window beside the stairs and the light is open 24 hours. So the room is bright and my couldnt sleep with it. The room have aircond and fan, you can choose which you want to sleep with. There are free breakfast-bread and coffee/tea. Promotion price for water, beer and can drinks. Affordable price. Overall is satisfy.

• TAIGA (8/5): Good stay for a few nights. You get what you pay. - Overall I could say I had pleasant stay for 2 nights. The location was good enough to town center. Staffs were friendly. The rooms locates 2 minutes away from the reception, which means they have a different building for rooms with 3 stories. They sell beers which are supposedly cheaper than any other places in the town.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - I'm all the way from Kluang, Johor. On 12am just in time i reach the hotel. I went to check in section and asked for a booked room and show them the receipt from Expedia. They said the payment is not successful because i just do it on 10pm. Although the payment is not clear, they trust us and collect from me rm30 for key deposit. The staff is really friendly, he took me to the upstairs at the level 3 and show me the room and the toilet. The room is a bit gloomy with their lights, and the toilet is ok, but i accept it just for one nights. The room fitted with airconditioner and queen bed. After i check in, i took a rest in the room. He said, by the next day he will check again whether the payment is clear. The stategic location and classic design of the hotel makes me feel like back in time. With the old phones and cameras decoration, the Volkswagen Beetle as their seating area and old beer bottles as their commemorative item. Its raining heavily in the next morning. The check out time is 12pm, but I manage to check out early at 9am. I took a shower and packing bagpacks, i go down to look for a breakfast. They serve us toasted bread and strawberry jam. They also provide us tea for drinks. I go to the returning section and ask the key collection staff about my payment i make yesterday, She acknowledge and appreciate me for being honest. She also tell me that the payment is already in. I'm happy to hear that she invited me to stay here again in the next time when i reach Melaka

Hostellin sijainti oli erinomainen: lähellä ostoskatuja ja kuuluisimpia nähtävyyksiä. Miinuksena mainittakoon se, että huoneessamme ollut sumennettu ikkuna oli hostellin käytävälle, josta tuli valoa koko yön huoneeseemme. Myös kadun äänet kuuluivat voimakkaasti huoneeseemme eikä peitoille ollut tarjolla lakanoita.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Uncomfortable but central - Fan dorm is a small room with 5 bunkbeds. There's not enough space for backpacks and there are items left behind by previous guests scattered around that no one seems to clear. Facilities are average. The reception-cafe across the street has a nice environment and location of the hostel is good. Also, breakfast is offered. The hostel only needs cleaning and order.

• steph (8/5): Great location and helpful staffs - Over all it was a good experience to stay. Less than 5 min to walk to the old town/Chinatown. You can ask the staff to reserve a taxi to the bus station. Good advices were provide for traveling. The only thing that bothered me was the linens. There always a stain and a hole around the pillow side. Other than that, it was nice to stay.

Nous avions loué une chambre double avec balcon vue sur la ville,prévoir une montée d’escalier,chambre propre avec tout le nécessaire, salle de bain avec douche séparée . Il y a une petite terrasse commune tout en haut avec vue sur la rivière. Accueil aimable et professionnel de John donnant des informations utiles,sécurité,touristique,vous pouvez le joindre au café. Vous pouvez y prendre le petit déjeuner basique, gratuit.Le quartier touristique se trouve à proximité. Excellent séjour à Malacca

• Jinwook (8/5): 가격을 생각한다면 좋죠 - 일단은 수건이 없습니다. 정수기도 없구요 다만 1.5링깃만 주면 큰 통 하나 살수잇어요. 바닥이 오래되어서 소리가 나구요. 안내해주는 점원이 재밌는사람인거 같네요. 샤워시설이 열악하지만 가격을 생각한다면 추천해주고싶네요

• パパボーボ (6/5): ダッチスクエアからすぐの場所で便利 - トイレ、シャワー付きのダブルベッドの部屋に宿泊しました。古い割には清潔で一流のサービスを求めるのでなければこういったスタイルもありだと思います。スタッフも気さくで対応に問題はないと思います。ロケーションとしては抜群で再度宿泊もありかな…と、思ってます。少しだけカフェを利用しましたが、サービスも料理も良かったと思います。 トイレとシャワーが一緒なのでシャワー後は自室のトイレは使えません。共有スペースのトイレとシャワーを使い分けることも必要です。

• Dean (4/5): How this place got any good reviews. - Bed was horrible room was small facilities were OK. Internet is terrible it actually didn't work in the rooms/hotel kept telling us it was being fixed wouldn't of minded to much but we're travelling and needed to plan! It was really slow in the cafe area. Only good thing was the location close to the sights.We ate down by the river nice restaurants down there and felt welcome. Poor even for a budget hostel.

• Kim (6/5): Value for money, close to most attractions - John was quick to fix up the initial stuff up (we booked a room with ensuite and were told upon arrival that they can provide a room with shared bathroom). The rooms were in a building across the cafe. While the ground floor level could do with a huge scrub/clean and tidy up, the rooms upstairs are clean, clean sheets and clean bathroom with hot showers. Toast (bring own vegemite, kaya etc because only margarine and jam) ,coffee and tea are provided at breakfast. Close to Stadhuys and Jonkers Walk.
• fraser (8/5): Perfect place to stay. - A great place to stay if you are travelling on budget in Malacca. It's close to everything you will want to see, and just metres from the river which makes for a beautiful view from the balcony. The staff was amazing! We wanted to go watch the sunset by the Mosque on the water and we weren't sure how to get there so one of the staff hopped on his bike and showed us the way. Everyone else went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. There was great live music in the cafe at night. The rooms are small but it's clean and comfortable. The place had a great spirit. I would definitely recommend it.

Some nights the singer was very loud and sang until approx 1am, I wouldnt recommend the hotel for families because of this! Nice staff and very helpful. The room was basic and clean.

• chili (10/5): Cozy, fun, clean and cheap! - Our host Alan was more than amazing! What a great guy, he gave us towels for free even though we were only staying for one night. He was funny and very welcoming, he told us tips about where to go and where to eat. The room was very clean and had cute blankets for each of us. Most importantly it had AC! The bathrooms were very clean as well, I was surprised! They had toilet paper and basic wash soap. Be prepared for the smell of the location outside, but well, be prepared for that in Malacca. Not to worry though, inside the hostel everything is clean and smells nice. Breakfast is simple toast, jam and butter and a DELICIOUS cup of coffee. i'm not even a coffee person but I dream about that coffee still.

• Charles (10/5): Great hostel! - Stayed here for Couple of nights. Really good hostel. The staff are brilliant the guy who manages the place is really nice, can't do enough to help you out and make sure everything is ok. The discovery cafe is another part of the hostel away from the dorms (across the road) where you can have a drink, listen to the live music and book any local tours, trips or book bus tickets. Really good value for money too, clean dorm, short walking distance from centre of town, it is basically on the river which is nice too. Highly recommend.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Stop over for a good rest in Discovery - Location of this place is very good - 10 minutes walk from Malakka heritage center. A lot of small eateries and provision shops around, guardian pharmacy including. Discovery hostel has sort of two parts. One is where you can sit, chill, drink, listen to music (kinda "party" till 12) and the other one which is 30 meters away in a quieter street and which is a great place if you are looking for a spotless clean and pitch dark quiet place for a good sleep and rest. Let's call it Discovery Sleeping Hostel (DSH). So DSH is a really clean place, well maintained and kept by its manager (or keeper), who is also very helpful with good advice for travel and watchful for quietness and cleanliness. Toilets and showers, corridors and rooms are clean. You can ask the keeper for whatever you need and he is helpful. No bad smells, there is a small pantry and sofa space where you can have a cup of tea and chit chat. Overall a good impression of the place. Recommend it for staying while travelling on a budget. Service is generally not bad and ppl are helpful. Again, the cleanliness and quietness part refers to the DSH not the other part of it where there is music and lots of ppl :).

• Su Tin (10/5): A quiet and polite guest house - I am a girl traveling alone, so when I went back to hostel at night, it would be a little dangerous because its location is in a small path. The host is so nice, and everyone follow the regulation to be quiet and light steps, I slept well for two nights. And it's so cheap.
• chagu (10/5): スタッフの方がとても親切で居心地がいい - スタッフの方が何かにつけて声をかけてくれて、色々助かりました。共有スペースや水まわりもいつも清潔に保っており、気持ちよく利用することができました。立地もインド街に近いので、カレー好きな私にとって最高でした。中心街からすぐですが、一本路地に入った所なので案外静かでした。
