- Alison (9/5): The hotel and stay exceeded expectations so a very enjoyable experience. Thank you - Location is excellent for all the tourist attractions in the area and a trip to Rathlin Island. Also close to other tourist towns and villages. Hotel is superb and staff very professional and accommodating. Would highly recommend and will return! Hotel, room and food all very high quality - there was nothing we did not like or enjoy.

- Dory (8/5): Great find…. - A big thank you to Zack, the young Irish gentleman at reception, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. He kindly assisted us with reserving dinner, which made everything so much easier. We stayed in the Lir Suite, which was absolutely lovely—spacious, comfortable, and offering beautiful sea views. Overall, a fantastic experience. The restaurant and bar were clearly well-run and efficiently managed, with everything in good order. However, they felt a little lacking in warmth and that distinctive Irish charm, which would have made the experience even more inviting.

- Dee (10/5): Best dog friendly hotel on the coast - Everything, it was just fantastic from beginning to end. The rooms, staff food and the kindness to dogs are amazing. The dog menu was a big hit with Mac and of course all the attention. In particular I would like to thank Caitlin for being so kind and a pleasure to meet she is a real asset to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble. Also Sarah who was very friendly and kind it's so nice when your staff take time to get to know their guests. I will definitely recommend to all my friends and I will definitely be back. If I had 1 thing to say it would be the heat, it is on constantly. I asked for a fan and it was provided within 10 mins so all good.
- David (3/5): Enjoyed Ballycastle but The Marine Hotel did not deliver on promise. - The location of the hotel was excellent and after requesting a room upgrade, the view from there was great overlooking the bay, harbour and other beach front activity areas. By any stretch of the imagination this was not a 4 * hotel. The room we had booked was dark , dismal and with no view being at the back of the hotel. We requested an upgrade and were given the 'best room' in the hotel, but at a further cost of £100.00, making the total £300 for a two night stay. The TV in 'the best room in the hotel' was small and non-Smart and was 90 degrees to the bed. The Wifi would not run my Firestick. The bathroom was small and the shower water lacked power. We had not booked breakfast but on the final day we asked for a continental which comprised, cereal, fruit salad, toast, cakes, tea or coffee. No yogurts, cold meats or cheeses as we might have expected from a 4* hotel. We were charged £16.00 per head. We found aspects of the hotel to be 'tired' and in need of a refurb. As this appeared to be the only hotel on Ballycastle sea front (apart from a backpackers hostel) I suppose they may charge as they wish and purport to be a 4*, but having stayed in other true 4* hotels during our stay in Northern Ireland we would probably rank Marine Hotel as a 3* max with the feel of a Travel Lodge. At £150.00 per night we might have expected Savoy luxury!

- Anne (10/5): - I loved the staff and the dinner was exceptional. The position on the seafront had awesome views..parking at the back was easy.. At night when water nit running there was a bad smell coming up through the pipes into the room. I shut the bathroom door to stop the smell into the main room and after everyone used their bathrooms in the morning the smell disappeared. This wasnt a huge problem but staff member in the morning was dismissive of me letting him know so guess the issue will not be addressed...he was more interested in me writing a good review on Trip Advisor..

Wide range of hot breakfast items, all well cooked. Our room was a strange mixture of really nice things which felt luxury (e.g. curtains and bed area) mixed with downmarket decoration of the walls and a bit of a Travelodge feel to the other half the room.

Rang the hotel Thursday before our trip the Saturday to make sure we could take the bikes over, all was ok. Got there on Saturday, concierge didn't even know the hotel had bikes. We had already booked the ferry with the bike option, cost me over £10 and we had no bikes, disappointing.

When booked hotel I booked a double room and thought would be staying in the main hotel but was told we be staying in the coves which it didn't mention in the booking at all. We had few drinks in lobby and had to walk out side to get to the cove rooms.man on reception wasn't very nice didn't say welcome to hotel or even smile.

There was sand on the floor (definitely not swept) and we to wipe our feet before getting into bed.I called ‘0’ but no-one ever answered.

I think the addition of a Costa counter in recent years was a great idea. We stayed for dinner too, and the food was really good. It would have been helpful to have better signage in the car park to provide clearer information for residents and non-residents.
- Jeff (3/5): Great location ruined by noisy road - Great location with amazing views. We recently stayed at the Marine Hotel in Ballycastle as a family group – myself, my wife, my two elderly parents, my brother, and my nephew – hoping for a relaxing night away. While the hotel itself is in a beautiful location with fantastic views, unfortunately our overall experience was extremely disappointing. Not one of us got a proper night’s sleep. Our rooms faced the road, and there was noise throughout the night from traffic. Cars with very loud exhausts were passing by until around 4am, and at one point two tractors were racing past, driven by young lads, creating an unbelievable level of disturbance. The noise inside the rooms was constant and intrusive, making it impossible to rest. We fully understand that the hotel is not directly responsible for traffic outside. However, what is unacceptable is that when we raised this issue the following morning, we were told this has been an ongoing problem. Another guest was making the exact same complaint at the same time, which clearly shows this is not an isolated incident. We were informed that the manager, Paula, would contact us that afternoon to discuss the situation and allow us to explain just how poor the experience had been. Unfortunately, no such follow-up ever happened. This lack of communication and accountability only added to our frustration. In summary, while the hotel itself has potential due to its location and views, the noise levels in road-facing rooms and the poor handling of our complaint made this a very negative experience. A good night’s sleep is a basic expectation, and the complete lack of follow-up from management was extremely disappointing. We would not return based on this experience
- Isabell Kästner (7/5): Es war ein praktischer Zwischenstopp. - Wir haben das Hotel wegen der Lage gebucht. Direkt am Meer und an der Costal Route. Der Preis war angemessen und die Zimmer geräumig. Der Parkplatz direkt hinter dem Haus war super, denn im Ort gibt es kaum Parkmöglichkeiten. Das (in unserer Buchung nicht inbegriffene) Frühstück war mit 16 GBP sehr teuer - die Auswahl hat den Preis auch nicht gerechtfertigt. Das Abendessen war aber sehr gut. Das Personal war extrem freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Leider war es überall viel zu warm und die Fenster ließen sich nur minimal ankippen.

We were early but just wanted to see about leaving our car in the carpark. He just grunted at us. But we had a lovely fella at check-in.

- Catrina (6/5): Frustrating check in area - Location is perfect We arrived at 3pm to be told our room wasn’t ready and we would be contacted when we could check in. We came back again at 4 and it still wasn’t ready. We had dinner reservations at 5 so we eventually got in at 420. Young staff member at reception was lovely and very apologetic but frustrating not being able to check in when we are due too. Check in areas is chaotic.
