We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The fellow who checked us in was very welcoming and professional plus he mixed up an incredible Old Fashioned with locally distilled bourbon! Old Town Albuquerque was close enough to walk which was nice. Even though we couldn't hear any street noise, the street was very busy.

It was very noisy all night with cars and people yelling. Also most of my windows faced the street so if I wanted natural light I had no privacy.

• Johan (8/5): Super, toch enkele mindere puntjes ... - Prima motel met zeer mooie , ruime en stijlvol gemoderniseerde (stille airco in plafond) kamers met comfortabele bedden. Mooie douche ! Kortom een zeer goede aanrader ! Minder duidelijk was de aanduiding (of het gebrek ervan) van de receptie. Eens gevonden kom je eerst terecht in een technische ruimte met de ice vending machine, om dan in een bar lounge te komen waar bar en receptie terzelfdertijd gebeuren. 's Morgens is er koffie voorzien, maar voor die prijs niets van ontbijt voorzien, vind ik wel spijtig, vooral omdat er in de onmiddellijke omgeving geen breakfast-gelegenheden zijn.

The shower was unusable, it was just a handheld sprayer. If you stay here try to get a room towards the back.

• lizardl3gs (8/5): Clean and comfy - Sweet and convenient restored vintage motel. Very clean and comfy. Didn't get to try pool, but it looked good. No breakfast, but very good coffee in lobby to get you going. We did have a random unexplained fire-alarm at 1am-- never heard why, but I assume it'll be attended to.
• Matthew (5/5): Vintage, but not perfect - It’s a cute renovated hotel. A bit basic, but in an updated way. The fire alarm went off a 1am and was extremely loud, which is what fire alarms are supposed to do. Fortunately there wasn’t a fire, but it kept turning on and off for over an hour. Needless to say, didn’t get much sleep. At checkout I asked about it and the response was “these things happen”. I guess they do, but fortunately never at the other hotels I stay at.

• lindaaU7438VQ (10/5): The Monterey Motel, Albuquerque, NM--go there! Stay there! - I had so much fun at the Monterey Motel, Albuquerque, NM. From the moment I checked in with Mark at the office/lounge/bar, the vibe was pleasant, welcoming, and inclusive. It just so happens that there was a duo playing music which added to the atmosphere--people dancing, just enjoying a Saturday night. (Thank you for your service, Fred, and encouraging me to join the dancing). While it is an older motel, it has been tastefully updated to reflect the local culture with a touch of retro along with modernization while still maintaining a vibe from the late 40's/early 50's. There was one room between the street (Route 66) and my room, but I really didn't hear much traffic noise during the night. My room turned out to be an accessible room which was large with a large bathroom with accessible shower. Anyone in a wheelchair could have easily navigated this room and accompanying bathroom. When I checked out the next morning with Peter, who was on duty, I was delighted to learn about the company who upgraded this motel and a couple of other hotels in the area. While I realize there isn't live music every night, it's still a fun place to stay if you are open to a pleasant community vibe. It is also close to downtown which is convenient for shopping or just wandering around.

Our room was towards the middle back of the property, so it was relatively quiet as it can be loud on the main road in front (Hwy 66). The wifi did not work (evidently a known, long-standing issue with management), and the shower water pressure was weak in our room (#9). The pool area, which looked awesome, was closed until May 1. It would have been nice to cool off on a warm Spring day during our mid-April stay.

• Eads (10/5): Would stay anytime I am in Albuquerque. - Monterey is a great hotel for anyone who enjoys small hotels from the era of 40's - 50's. It is very well kept and modern facilities. It has a very confortable lounge right on property for relaxing and having cocktails. Pool looked adequate but not the season when I was there. Rated as a two star hotel but shined more brightly than most any other 2 star I have stayed at. Wi-Fi is intermittant due to the concrete walls so not a best option if you need consistant Wi-Fi ie working from home, but easily managed with sitting in the lounge where Wi-Fi was consistant.

• TimoKH (10/5): For a great stay… - We stayed at the Monterey Motel on our Route 66 journey through Albuquerque. From the moment we arrived the MOD Mark made us feel welcome. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Mark was easy with tips for things to do and good eats. Easy walking distance to Old Town is a bonus. And, Mark was pulling double duty as the bartender of the Momo Lounge. He is an excellent host and makes great Old Fashioneds, (by the way!) For a great stop along Route 66 make it the Monterey Motel.

However, the shower was bad. My husband tried first. His hot water ran out after 2 minutes so he had a tepid shower, with really low water pressure. I waited 90 minutes hoping for an improvement. I got hot, all I needed, but simply no water pressure. I couldn't even wash my hair with any hope of getting a good rinse. And...the internet was crap. at night and also in the morning. non-existent. Just didn't work. the reception person said they would send in a work order. Since I now see all of this (water pressure, hot water, and internet) has been an issue since they opened, I think this is just a management choice. Save money and hope it doesn't affect the bottom line. I live local and would not recommend The Monterey to visitors, too many other choices.

From the moment I arrived, everything felt easy, welcoming, and thoughtfully put together. The room itself was very comfortable and, most importantly for me, quiet. As a solo traveler, I felt safe and secure the entire time, which made it easy to fully relax and enjoy the stay. The room decor and overall aesthetic were so cute. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design. The vibes and energy throughout the property felt really intentional and inviting without trying too hard, which I loved. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable. I slept really well, which always makes such a difference when traveling. The shower was another highlight. The water pressure was perfect, and it got nice and hot quickly, which felt amazing after a long day. Even though I didn’t have much time to take advantage of all the amenities, I could tell there’s a lot to enjoy here. The pool looked great, and it’s definitely something I’ll be coming back for. One of my favorite unexpected moments was hearing live music during check-in. It created such a fun, lively atmosphere right away and really set the tone for the experience. Overall, it felt like a place that has personality while still being comfortable and easy. I’ll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, enjoyable stay.

• Glen (8/5): - The Monterey Inn has been updated - very clean and comfortable. Great location within walking distance of Old Town, parks, and restaurants. Near interstate 40
• Amanda (10/5): Clean, comfortable, quiet. - The room was spacious and clean. They have a funky lounge where you check-in. The check-in process included a drink token and free live music. It was a quick 10 minute walk to old town, and there was an excellent bagel/coffee shop right next door. The fridge froze my leftovers.
• Delene (10/5): Very unique Route 66 experience. - It had the Route 66 experience. Check in was a little confusing, it was in the bar.
• Jennifer (10/5): We had a wonderful night’s sleep and a fun experience at the hotel! - Monterey Motel was such a cool experience! We loved the vintage design and decor. The kids loved the second room with all the bunk beds. Each detail was thought of for a comfortable stay-tons of chargers, bed curtains. Close to Old Town, which was perfect. The shower was terrible. The sprayer would not stay attached to the wall and water sprayed all over the bathroom. We also could have used a broom because the walkway was not clean and we ended up bringing leaves and dirt inside.

• katiepN648EM (8/5): Cute motel and nice location - Cute, nicely done motel! The room was nicely decorated and the lounge & outdoor patio area are really nice. Comfy bed! My only complaints were the shower did not get hot enough for me, and the room had some dust. Location was close to old town and walkable.

• bobbied995 (10/5): Awesome weekend get away 😎 - Everything was great and it was perfect for me and my children close to the zoo. Close to the aquarium The pool wasn't open, but that wasn't a big deal. It was cold out anyway, but everything else was perfect. The rooms were clean and spacious. Plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable and friendly accommodations.

• Harsh (8/5): Excellent Staff, Okayish Property - The staff were wonderful. I left my jacket at the property and they were professional and courteous through the process. The bartender was lovely to speak to and the check-in experience was seamless. The shower head was broken and there was no separator between the wet and dry area which was definitely something that wasn't though through.
