- Damien (7/5): Great food, breakfast was so good. - Location is perfect, great atmosphere, especially on the weekends
- Renee (10/5): Very friendly staff, good food, good value so what more could you want. - Good location, traditional but feel but a comfortable hotel
- Kirsty (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): An enjoyable stay in a historical location with friendly, welcoming staff. - We had a large, well presented room with an excellent view from the bay window and a separate bathroom. The only drawback was it was positioned right over the bar and as there was a beer festival in operation it was quite noisy until the customers all left after 11.00. The coffee served a breakfast was a little weak.
- Michael (9/5): -
- nigel (7/5): - Good location, great breakfast
- Sally (9/5): Perfect location and very comfortable stay - Clean, spacious and comfortable A bit noisy due to the bar but to be expected in a pub
- Chris (9/5): Brilliant - Friendly good food great location Accessibility wasn’t great car park 10 mins walk
- Lucia (10/5): Totally charming old inn- great value for money - Lovely large room, well appointed. Spotlessly clean and fantastic water pressure & size of the shower. Super comfy bed too! Great breakfast-excellent value for money Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): A beautiful stay - It was very special, we were there for my Uncles funeral. It was exceptional. I think it is a place we will return to in different circumstances It’s a beautiful building, very old a few trip hazards. To be expected
- Steve (9/5): - Great sized room for the type of property, amazing location, friendly staff and great value for the money!
- Anthony (8/5): Comfortable room - Very comfortable room and facilities. A bit rowdy outside until 11pm as the room was next to the pub's outside seating area.
- Duncan (7/5): More negatives than positives. - Absolutely loved the fact that there was a dog 'goodies' bag on arrival in the room as i had pre-warned them i was traveling with the dog! Main issue, is no parking - so you must park at the bottom of the hill and walk up - which is a challenge if you have a bit of kit with you. Room is extremely noisy - the rooms are around the outside courtyard which of course has customers from the pub in until just after closing time - the windows/walls are not thick so you have to wait until everyone has left before you can sleep. Also noise from room above - floor must be thin as you can hear every creak as they move around and the snoring was impressive. The walkway to upstairs is a metal staircase which is also quite noisy. Finally at 5am they decided to empty the bottle bins which was also impressive in the noise produced.... As such despite any positives its not possible to consider this for another stay next time.
- Patrick (8/5): -
- Alastair (9/5): A historic inn in the centre of town - All fine. I had a large room in the original part of the inn.
I ate in the restaurant one night and had the gnocchi caponata, which was pretty good.
A nice olde worlde feel to the Globe.
- Philippa (7/5): - light for reading
- Mr and Mrs Donald (9/5): Very pleasant. - Convenient, nice atmosphere.
- Natalie (9/5): - Location - room size - staff
- Pete (9/5): Excellent stay - The bar and restaurant are cosy and get a good crowd, so many hotels are just sterile these days!
I only had breakfast but that was excellent, staff were universally helpful and cheerful which just makes for a good atmosphere around the place!
Room facilities were great, everything you needed and I love proper coffee from a Nespresso machine! Everything worked and was very clean! I'm being picky and this is more for information than real criticism, the sound insulation for my room was non existent and you could hear every word from people sat outside. I'm a night owl so I'm late going to bed and it wasn't a bother for me but if I had kids trying to sleep it wouldn't be great. Old building and lively atmosphere so probably not a lot can be done about it but one to be aware of. Also the lack of nearby parking wouldn't be great for some, although I was well aware of it before staying and lucky enough to have space on someone's driveway. One to think about prior to booking. Overall I loved this place and will happily stay again.
- Douglas (10/5): -
- Bridie (10/5): Excellent. - Excellent stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Room spacious and comfortable.
Convenient parking near by.
Bar in the evening great and welcoming.
Good breakfast.
Definitely would book again and recommend.
- Kay (6/5): - Location Bathroom electrical fan doesn't switch off for about 15 minutes. I stayed in no.19, a chalet.and walls are paper thin..you can hear everything.
Even though the courtyard was cordoned off, there were a lot of noise and unable to sleep
- Richard (10/5): A reading break in a lovely town. - Breakfast was excellent with a good choice and made with excellent ingredients.
Location in the middle of Topsham was good with good access to walks, river and shops.
- Karen (10/5): -
- MARIA (8/5): - The pub was full of character, a proper pub.
The menu and food was fabulous, including brekkie.
Easy access to The Exe Trail.
Ferries across the Exe
- Sheila (10/5): Fabulous place to stay - It was fabulous. Within easy walking distance of everything. The room was lovely and the bed was super comfy. The Staff were all lovely and the breakfast was really tasty with lots of options Nothing
- Nicola (8/5): Will definitely return. - Breakfast was extremely good. Bed very comfy. Quiet. Great location very near to estuary/seafront. Friendly and helpful. More secure lockup for bikes. No parking but reasonably priced car park 5 minutes walk. Shower a bit on the cool side.
- GARY (8/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Excellent one night stay in a room over the restaurant. Quiet and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Quality of - Age and character. No parking
- Hoops_a_daisy (8/5): Great place - Location A bit noisy road early morning with deliveries.
- Colin (8/5): -
- TONY (8/5): A perfect place from which to explore Topsham in a friendly environment. Would definitely stay again - All the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
Breakfast was very good.
Good location. Main course for dinner was very nice but the squid starters were over cooked and therefore chewy.
- Samuel (8/5): -
- Pandya (9/5): Comfortable, charming and great food - Good location, very nice stay and food.
- Martin (9/5): - Schöner traditioneller Gasthof. Freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstück. Zimmer etwas dunkel
- Dave (10/5): -
- Debbie (10/5): -
- jason (10/5): We went due to a sudden family death. We didn’t want to mothered and staff respected that - Clean and a good location Nothing
- Lynn (8/5): Returning guests good as evet - Location & historic building No parking on site
- Catherine (9/5): Really great! Perfect location. Lovely vibe - Location, staff and comfortable room. A little bit tired, definitely a few bits needing attention in our room but nothing that would stop us returning.
- milmo22 (8/5): A lovely stay. - Lovely old Coaching House in a great location.
We stayed in the main pub building which was oozing with history.
Evening roast was gorgeous and staff were very friendly. The mattress was incredibly soft.
The eggs both my wife and myself were served on an otherwise good breakfast have no place on a plate of food anywhere. A very poor choice to not cook us a couple of fresh ones.
- Guest (7/5): -
- Trussell (8/5): Lovely two night stay for my husband's birthday. They also left bottle of beer and fudge which was a - Breakfast was excellent. Waitress very friendly and accommodating Noise from pub downstairs, very noisy, until after 11.30pm. Unfortunately the door had been damaged and due to bank holiday could not be mended, looked a little unsightly.
- Emma (9/5): Fijn verblijf! - Voorzieningen waren goed en ontbijt was goed geregeld. Personeel was vriendelijk en het bed lag lekker. Er is best veel geluid vanuit de pub beneden, als je voor 23.00 slaapt hoeft dat in principe geen probleem te zijn.
- Gordon (10/5): Courtyard rooms preferable to the inside pub rooms and that made a difference to this visit for us - Great courtyard room. Good atmosphere and welcoming staff.
- Andy (9/5): For me Good place to stay when travelling through. - Location Parking
- Philippa (9/5): - Ideal place to explore Topsham and surrounding areas
- Steven (9/5): Great hotel, great food, great staff - Excellent food & very comfortable room - very pleasant staff - we had a lunch for 14 where we had to move the time slightly and they were so accommodating. Nothing to report.
- Daniel (7/5): Fine - Room pleasant Food was disappointing
- Juliet (7/5): Pleasant stay. Disappointing food. - Central location in Topsham. Characterful and buzzy pub. Food wasn’t a highlight. Dinner for 8 on first night ahead of of family occasion next day - rice with the 3 curries was metallic tasting and unpleasant, 2 x lamb was chewy and lukewarm. Told waiter re. rice but not offered any apology or discount on a £275 bill - which isn’t good customer service. Cooked breakfast was lukewarm again with rock hard bacon, must be all cooked at once then kept on a warm plate. Disappointing again.
- John (6/5): Ok, fair. - The staff and the atmosphere of the pub was excellent. We had an evening meal for eight people. Three had curry and all complained about this meal. The rice had a very odd metallic taste and clearly something had gone wrong with the cooking. Plus the nan breads were undercooked. We did highlight this to the waiter but got no response. Also rooms could do with more lights. Some of the rooms are very dark, having only a couple of inadequate wall lights.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Tony (10/5): Lovely hotel in the heart of Topsham which is perfect for exploring the area - Great location and brilliant breakfast. Nice room with all amenities and perfect for a stay in Topsham all went as well as we expected
- Shrewsbury (9/5): - Lovely pub. The staff are very friendly and efficient nothing is too much trouble . The food was excellent and the staff were very flexible on timings. Would highly recommend. Nothing
- JonClayton (9/5): - Very comfortable
- Crusoe Millar (7/5): A pleasant pub hotel with a bustling vibe and lovely staff. Close to great walk along the estuary. - The staff were really polite and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic and the location was lovely. Room 4 has a few issues with the bed. It feels like the bed is sinking down at the head rest end. So your sleeping down hill! I ended up having to sleep with my head at the food of the bed.
Also the sound from the pub is really loud. I could hear people shouting and dogs barking until 11pm. I recommend a fire door with glass at the top of the stairs to the rooms.
- Delia (9/5): - Lovely little location. We did the walking tour too. Nice little shops. Co-op if you need anything to take out for journey. Station easy short walk. Caught train to look at exeter. Easy journey, 2 trains hr to central station. Finding parking for hotel on street or car park wasn't a problem in March. It took quite a while to receive the cooked breakfast the 2nd morning. The dining area had been reduced to half the size too. Not just us waiting. No idea why the long delay was just a bacon roll requested. Previous day was fine though. Maybe if you like any Danish-pastry / muffin for bfast, get there early as just 1 croissant left at 8.15.
You need coins £5 worth, for parking overnight in car park or have to download an app.
- Susan (4/5): - Breakfast was very good but plates could have been a lot hotter! A member of staff rearranging the wooden furniture on the wooden decking at 10 minutes to midnight making such a noise it woke us up. This was completely unnecessary and could have been done the following morning when all the residents were awake. It is a shame that this thoughtlessness spoilt our stay.
- Graham (8/5): - Position and friendly staff. Good value although I was out of season. I will come back despite what I said below. No bar menu, food expensive if you were looking for a quick meal.
- Itsuko (8/5): The food at the reastrant was very good . I enjoyed very much staying here . - Location
- Judith (9/5): A perfect place for us to stay - We came to see Folk Music at Matthews Hall.
The location of The Globe was ideal and only a short walk away.
The room was clean, warm and comfortable. All was good!
- Beverley (10/5): -
- Kirsty (9/5): - We stayed in the Apartment which was spacious and very comfortable. Also although it was above the pub, as we were tucked at the end, it was pretty quiet.
- lines (9/5): Overall very good and would recommend . - Super staff , polite and accommodating . I have stayed there previously . Super part of Devon . Very clean and a well run establishment . Shame there is no car park but that cannot be helped . There is an upgrade which I think would be welcome by many and that is a standard or mini fridge within the residential rooms .
- gerber (10/5): -
- James (9/5): -
- Dana (2/5): Very disappointed for a St.Austell pub and Inn - Location Wow lots to list, poor Sunday lunch I was ill from under cooked chicken. Gravy was sludge and veg was well overcooked! Our room was over noisy pub that shut far past the time it should. The noise continued into the wee hours outside. Very poor accommodation would not stay again… sadly
- Mark (8/5): -
- Wood (1/5): There was no saty - The night was cancelled on arrival and I still am confused as to why
- Ella (10/5): - Good location. Lovely pub. Friendly welcome and doggy bag.
- Rosie (10/5): Perfect. - Central, characterful, exceptional staff who were very accommodating and beautiful large tastefully decorated rooms. Fabulous breakfast with good coffee. We did Exmouth parkrun on the Saturday - stunning one to do if you’ve never done one before! 20 mins drive and breakfast runs til 11.30 so easily doable. Only minor - no parking - but that’s centre living and not the hotel’s fault!
Easy to find parking nearby and easy to unload.
- Adam (8/5): - Nice rooms, great position, good food and nice staff.
- Gary (7/5): -
- Emma (10/5): - The room was stunning and the staff were very friendly The outside door was a little hard to open sometimes

- mendip7 (9/5): Great value stay in character pub. - Beautiful old coaching inn in the heart of Topsham, full of atmosphere. Courtyard room was comfortable and well equipped. Excellent breakfast included in our good value stay. We also enjoyed an evening meal. Nothing apart from a rather chilly bathroom floor
- Victoria (10/5): So kind and welcoming and wonderful - Cosy Nothing
- Simon (9/5): Very friendly and helpful staff making us feel very welcome. Food and service good with excellent breakfast - Lovely historic coaching inn I suspect Toilets need refurbishing
- Mark (9/5): - Excellent location, great value and very helpful staff Only minor thing. I stayed in room 22 and the desk had a very loose leg and it as well as side tables showed water damage on top. Would recommend repair or replacement going forward
- Ann (9/5): - Comfortable hotel in the centre of Topsham, perfect base for exploring the area.
- Richard (9/5): - All good
- John (10/5): -
- Janet (10/5): - The bedroom and bathroom were large. Well equipped. And the bed super comfy. Really nice ambience. Warm and friendly and perfectly situated in the centre of town. Easy walk from the car park. Nothing. It was super. Breakfast was delicious.
