• Verified traveler (4/5): Mouldy and damp - Stayed here over the weekend with my three Girls and my partner, the host was polite and extremely attentive at our needs, sorting the hottub and also returning the arcaic TV, However he deserves to be working in a much better class Of hotel. TheHottub was opened for us, to severe grime and bird poo inside the hottub. the kids were only in for a minute and i think that was too long!! This hottub clearly hadnt been cleaned in weeks and needed emptying and given a deep clean The cottage was run down, mould had taken over the cottage in every crevice and windowsills and could still be seen under the efforts of a recent paint job. The cottage smelt damp and clearly visible, bedding felt damp maybe not given enough time to dry inbetween stays, the permanent bedsheets overhanging the beds were dirty and unwashed and looks like they had been their since 1914 The stain stricken sofabed in the lounge was in a disgusting state and i refused to let my child sleep on it. The bathroom had remnants of the past occupiers with hairs everywhere inside the bath and sink, which needed to be washed out before use! Cobwebs are a regular occurrence in this place and seems like the cleaner lost her duster, every corner, every lamp looked like a screenshot of the film arachnophobia. Besides from that on a good note, the kitchen was new, clean and tidy and we managed to make dinner and breakfast quite easily with the utensils, just a shame the rest of the cottage lets it down.
• Michael (10/5): Convenient, free parking and breakfast - Lovely stay in beautiful old house, close to the city center (10/15 min walk) with plenty of free parking on the premises. Room comfortable and clean. Free breakfast, which was buffet style in lovely dining room. Good selection of hot and continental style food although as with most breakfast buffets the hot food was a little dried up. Nice big garden out the back to explore and relax in. Can’t say enough about the great service especially the hard working Hungarian lady who was on reception all day and evening and then was serving us our breakfast! Would definitely stay again.

And this would've been too if it hadn't been for a really unhelpful & rude member of staff who lacked any customer service skills. He was a young guy so I gave him another chance and he dealt with that just as poorly as the first time I tried to resolve my issue. I found the management uncooperative with my complaint and reluctant to even acknowledge the incident never mind help with a resolution.

• Jacqueline (10/5): An excellent hotel to stay at - My wife and I decided to visit Canterbury and chose this hotel which is a short walk fro the centre. The room was superb and the breakfast was very good. The image was from our window looking out onto the back garden.

Our room did contain the word ‘small’ in the description but we hadn’t thought it would be so small. The shower was good and the room was clean. It would have been useful to have more than 2 clothes hangers in the wardrobe and a kettle lid that fitted properly. However, we didn’t mention this at the time and had we, it might have been rectified. The cooked breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a good position to walk into the centre but we could hear constant traffic from our room from the busy road.

• David (10/5): Perfect for the town of Canterbury and the cricket - Lovely hotel, short walk from the cricket ground and a bit longer into town. I had a room with a very good breakfast but friends were in a bungalow and apartment both of which looked great so there’s a choice self catering. Lovely garden and seating at the back. Good for parking too.

• Alun (4/5): Definitely not 8 out of 10 - The hotel was dated but they have updated the bathrooms. The room was layer out badly having to squeeze past the bed and banging my head on the tv twice. The reception staff were functional but not really friendly a bland apology that the WiFi was not working which with a lot of work to do was not helpful on top of the bad reception. I hardly slept as the bed and pillows were rock hard but I did enjoy the breakfast in the morning and there was ample free parking for the guests. Short walk to shops and town about 20 minutes.
• William (10/5): 2 Night stay visiting university student - Stayed in a 2 bed cottage. Plenty of room, lounge diner Kitchen, Double bedded room and twin bedded room. Bathroom with shower over bath. There were a couple of marks on the carpet, possibly chewing gum, and a couple of the kitchen cupboards needed hinges sorting out. Overall a good stay, makes a much better base than just a hotel room with an en-suite.
• Nicole (10/5): - The Ebury Hotel was by far our favorite accommodation in the well over a month my two children and I have been traveling through Europe and the UK. It has so much Victorian character and they’ve been sure to keep that alive. The place was quiet, the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very helpful. Blake was particularly wonderful; kind, helpful, engaging and absolutely welcoming. He made our stay that much more like home. Thank you for the wonderful stay, Ebury!
• Keith (10/5): Canterbury Dec 2022 - Very comfortable room, lovely breakfast and extremely helpful and friendly staff. The hotel has great character and being a Victorian building is far more interesting than some of the better known chain establishments.

Nice "full English" included in price. Off street parking in front of the hotel. Convenient 10 minutes walk to the centre of town.

• Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful retreat. - We stayed in one of the luxury apartments on New Year’s Day. The apartment has a private entrance and is frankly huge. It has everything you need, tastefully decorated and basically a home away from home. We were a little blown away ( in a very good way ) as to what you get for your money. Reception were informative and friendly. If you book it, you won’t be disappointed. Will definitely stay again as soon as we can.

• Jonathan (6/5): Not poor not amazing just OK. - It was OK, not outstanding and not poor. Basic room, I booked a single, won't do that again, but you live and learn, bed was a single, like being a kid again, had to sleep narrow and was uncomfortable. Bathroom OK, was clean. Staff not overly friendly, said hello in the morning and got your food, that's about it. Have stayed plenty of other smaller hotels and usually get a better personal experience, where staff seem to be a bit more interested in the people that are staying. Good breakfast. Free parking was good, although can get busy on site. Its on the main new Dover Road which also gets busy with traffic in the morning, queues up the road so can be tricky getting out, as everyone drives like a nutter.

• Nick (10/5): Hidden Gem! - Lovely hidden gem! Its definitely worth upgrading to a cottage or apartment! We stayed in the basement apartment and was so happy with it! The space is massive!
• Andrew (8/5): Great staff - The hotel is a little walk from Canterbury, the staff were great and were dealing with the COVID issues well. Canterbury is a lovely city and easily explored by foot.

• Edward (10/5): A gem of a hotel with professional team. - We enjoyed a stay at the Ebury Hotel in October. The staff were friendly and professional. They wore Covid masks at all times [and we saw no one removing or wearing under their chins!] and there was hand sanitizer available all around the public areas. Our twin bedded room was spacious with lots of storage space. The bed was very comfortable. The room had been cleaned to a high standard. Breakfast was pre order with a choice of time slot to avoid crowding in dining room. The breakfast was well cooked and well presented. Perfect poached eggs! The staff were attentive and asked if there was anything else we needed. It was a nice change to sit down to a tasty breakfast. There was also the option of a continental breakfast delivered to your bedroom. There is a Tesco and Waitrose five minutes walk away. City centre shops, restaurants and Cathedral around 15 minute flat walk. Lots of free parking at the hotel was an added bonus.

• bryan (4/5): - We had booked a small double room, so small the door would not open enough to wheel our suitcases in because the bed was preventing the door opening fully. There were no towel racks in the bathroom and no privacy curtains even though the room overlooked the main road. There was just enough space to walk around both sides of the bed. The Manager was helpful and moved us to another room but only for 2 days as the roomwas already booked for the weekend.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - The building is old but charming - a bit 'shabby chic' - but not shabby! The breakfasts are wonderful. And table service plus linen tablecloths and napkins a bonus. The bard and lounge - extra space to relax. We had a small double - which we booked, but it was very small. If we stay here again we would book a larger room.

No Aircondidioning so when we had the window open, we were in the very front of the hotel and it is on a very busy street so we heard cars and trucks drive by all night long. We would stay here again but would request a room in the back side of the hotel.
