Guest Reviews
- MEGAN (4/5): - Great stay, unfortunately ran out of cold water during a shower in the winter months, disappointing after a long drive
- Cameron (10/5): - .
- Cameron (10/5): - Beautiful room, beautiful location with amazing views. Service was amazing, lady greeted me as I arrived and showed me to my room. 3 course dinner and a breakfast buffet. Really perfect.
- Graham (10/5): - A welcoming oasis in the Karoo. Friendly staff, great food and comfortable accommodations
- Jan (8/5): Very pleasant Game Lodge - Very pleasing with good attention to service including drinks by the pool. Very pretty gardens and a lovely terrasse for breakfast and dinner a great place to stop off if travelling to or passing through Beaufort West. The food is traditional
- Marc LB (10/5): Still the best - As always this was amazing. The food, staff, room everything was top quality
- Verified traveler (10/5): - amazing place
- Leon (8/5): - Bathroom door broken, doesn't close properly
- JE (10/5): Breathing out - Staying at Lemoenfontein is the same as achieving a yoga pose- taking a deep breath in and then a long, long, long exhale and some peace!
- Bertus (10/5): Amazing hidden gem!! - We were welcomed by Joseph after very short notice honeymoon planning. To be shown to our chalet with a personalised message welcoming us with an amazing Karoo dinner.
Room was spectacular with breathe taking views and stars for days with the fire glowing alongside us. What an oasis.
- S (8/5): Great stay - Staff are friendly and go out of their way to assist. Please is clean and welcoming. Beautiful location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We have stayed at a number of hotels since lockdown ended. This hotel definitely under performs in adhering to COVID 19 regulations. I saw just one hand sanitizer ‘pole’ in the restaurant, but not near entrance but on way to kitchen. Buffet in stead of table service, mgt did not wear masks till after my first review, staff was very consistent in doing that from the start. Tables/chairs were not wiped clean before next guests. No check in with contact details or temperature check. Many elderly people probably visiting, so not good policy in general. Too bad as location is excellent with view. Hope they clean up their act.
- Marc LB (10/5): - We get treated like family and every room is a delight to stay in.
- Marc LB (10/5): - It is always such a pleasure staying over at Lemoenfontein. Staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and special. Food is delicious
- Johan Andries (10/5): - Our stay at Lemoenfontein was as delightful as ever. Excellent and courteous service, lovely home-cooked meals. We shall always return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Come here - Very good place. Friendly staff. Good sleeping quality. Breakfast good. Dinner ok but not worth the price. Pool area nice. Saw a few aninals byt very dry when we where there. Hiking average.
- Robert (10/5): In the Karoo! - This lodge was great in every way (staff, setting, views, rooms, breakfast, dinner) and was perhaps the best of our entire tour in Western Cape. It is located in the middle of the Karoo, just east of Beaufort West and quite near the entrance of Karoo NP.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Recommend - Highly recommend . Friendly and welcoming. Lovely rooms and gorgeous view of the karoo.
- Kobus (8/5): Karoo experience - Awesome view from stoep and rooms on to Beaufort West town. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
- Lesley (8/5): Game lodge - Nice game lodge but not an awful lot of game. The room was clean and comfortable and the garden/pool area was very nice. The waiters in the restaurant/bar were very friendly and helpful.
Food choices for dinner were a bit limited.
- Verified traveler (10/5): One Night Stay - The place was easy to find and well signposted. We had a warm, friendly and helpful greeting from Justin. Our room was clean and a good size with plenty of space for luggage. It had a large bed which was comfortable, together with soft linens. The bathroom was also a good size with toilet, sink, bath and shower. The shower had plenty of hot water and the flow was ok. Bath towels were large and toiletries also provided. The room had a refrigerator, tea/coffee station, TV, microwave and air conditioning. Wi-fi was available although given the location, it was a bit slow.
Our room opened out onto a covered pathway which overlooked the garden. The garden was lovely and there was a swimming pool with sun loungers where we spent the afternoon. There were also marked trails and cycle paths around the ranch, although we did not stay long enough to use.
Views from the breakfast room were spectacular - over the plain - and the mountains were behind us. We had dinner here which was delicious and breakfast which was continental with hot food cooked to order - again very good.
This is a beautiful old place, with large Victorian rooms, wooden floors, lots of paintings and comfortable furnishings. It is a bit rustic but very comfortable, with super views, lovely grounds and friendly staff. One night was too short, so will return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a gem! Lemoenfontein Game Lodge was a truly lovely place to stay at.
- Erwin (10/5): Thanks for Having us! - Onderweg van Drakensbergen naar Kaapstad. Heerlijke stop gehad! Lekker veetentoonstelling, geslapen, ontbeten en uitgerust verder! Top!
- Barry (10/5): More than just a stopover in Beaufort West - Hotel came highly recommended by friends so decided to stay over on way to Kimberley from Cape Town. Would have loved to stay a second night. Besides excellent traditional food and outstanding service, there is much to do on the farm - walks, bird spotting, etc - or else just relax in the expanse of the Karoo, enjoying the views and recharging one's soul.
- Mark (10/5): AWESOME STOP IN THE KAROO - Friendly staff. George was awesome from helping us with our luggage to assisting us with drinks (even though it was an honesty bar). Having a chat to Ingrid (the owner was also fun). Only negative was that whilst the gravel road was in a good condition it may be a little hard on cars with lower profile tyres.
- Diane (10/5): A very happy stay - This is one of the most beautiful guest houses I have ever stayed at. The place is stunning and the service and the food are excellent. Everyone was extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The grounds and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend having the evening meal. I would definitely stay there again.
- Rose (10/5): What a beautiful setting. - Spent 2 glorious days here. Friendly staff. Always remembered our requirements. Evening meals were great. Setting was just beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.
- Gregory (10/5): Delightful Lodge in a Game Reserve - Wonderful lodge built in 1850 as a hunting lodge for an English gentleman. Has been updated with modern bathrooms and air conditioning. The service was absolutely perfect. Meals were served on the large veranda overlooking the reserve and Beaufort West in the distance. The meals were wonderful, prepared and served perfectly. The rooms were very rustic (original floors, walls and ceiling, but the furnishings were modern and very comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Resort style hotel near the Karoo NP - I picked this as I wanted to visit the Karoo NP. Beaufort West has very few hotels (I discovered when I got there that it is mainly a stopover point on the N1 between Jo'burg and Cape Town). The hotel was expensive by SA standards but still cheap if you are visiting from Europe, but is a very attractive retreat-style hotel (it was built as a hunting lodge so is a substantial property with a lot of style) with very attentive (over-attentive at times) service. I suspect that I was not a typical visitor as I tend never to eat at the hotels I stay at, preferring to explore local restuarants (I suspect that most people don't ever leave the hotel during their visit!). The paucity of local restuarants and the remoteness of the hotel from the town (5km up a gravel road) made this difficult so I had a decent 3 course dinner here on one of my 2 nights.
- Daniel (10/5): Wonderfully scenic and serene atmosphere! - Very comfortable old country house set at the footsteps of beautiful mountains in the Karoo desert. Good viewing of animals from a gorgeous terrace and lovely walks through the desert. We had a very tasty inexpensive 3-course set dinner while the sun was setting which was stunning, and breakfast was superb. Room was comfortable with a great bed and bedding and a large bathroom with shower and seperate bath. Lovely owners and helpful smiley staff!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fab guesthouse - A beautiful setting. The buildings are beautiful built in 1880's. Comfortable beds pleasant food. The customer service was excellent. All the staff greeted us and introduced themselves. They were very attentive and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great stay - This was our second stay and I can only say it improves every time
Preis/Leistung Top. Service einwandfrei
- Marc (10/5): Wonderful fame lodge - Not being a lover of game lodges we were pleasantly surprised. Everything exceede our expectations. The food the staff and the animals were absolutely wonderful. We had a cat that decided it liked us and proceeded to make himself very comfortable with us. No complaints from us
- Tony (10/5): Lovely Lemoenfontein - We stopped over at Lemoenfontein on our way home to Johannesburg, after having spent Christmas with family in Grayton. From the warm welcome by Justice who showed us our room and the Lodge's facilities, to the delicious 3-course dinner on the verandah overlooking the vast Karoo landscape, to a good night's rest in our lovely suite, to the excellent breakfast, again on the verandah- what a wonderful experience! We will be back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): If you like dogs hanging around stay there - They have dogs all over the place, even the dogs are swimming in the pool. The dinner ( no choice) was more than average.
- Patricia (8/5): home from home. - Always use as a stop over. Great!
