• Sue (9/5): Perfect relaxing anniversary/birthday weekend - Everything was perfect! The king bed was a nice surprise in the Buford room. Didn't realize we could turn off the blue LED temp on the heater until the next morning but this is on us not on staff or the accommodations.

The meal was special, especially excellent wines paired with the dishes, the food is delicious but not exceptional as we expected from the reviews. The staff is very helpful and pleasant, we were happy to visit the very impressive wine cellar of the place. Take an extra charge for a cappuccino at breakfast in a place like this? It really doesn't fit. And make us sit in front of a kitchen door and dirty stairs in the morning, too bad. Ruined the atmosphere.

It was our wedding anniversary, and I was touched with all the extra special touches to acknowledge that! Although we loved our room, there was a lot of steps & confusion locating it. The bed was so high that we were glad for the provided stool to get in it! At our age & walking abilities, I should have chosen a different room.

• susank2015 (6/5): Nice, but… - Pros: beautiful setting. Nice walking path and beautiful gardens. The whole place, including our room, exuded period charm. Beautiful pool area. Extremely friendly front desk and bar staff. Very comfy bed and pillows. Cons: 1) noise: the property is on the corner of a very busy road and we heard traffic noise at all hours (we had a room in the main building). Furthermore, the inn, in spite of the fact that it isn’t really a family friendly inn, allows children of all ages and we were kept up a major portion out 2nd night by a screaming (not just crying). We left more tired than we were when we arrived. 2) no refrigerator in the room. We had things that needed to be kept cool, which meant we were constantly requesting buckets of ice, which was awkward and time consuming. 3) WiFi never worked on our 3rd floor room. 4) cleanliness: our room could have used a deep clean. The tub (which was the only way to get cleaned as there is no separate shower (FS Key room), had a soap scum ring that I had to scrub clean before I could bathe, and all of the fixtures were dusty. 4) breakfast (while good) offered very little variety for a stay of more than 2 days. Overall, we don’t feel like it was worth the cost.

Our room (Clabaugh Room) was amazing and included a fireplace with views of the gardens and front. Warm welcome. Prosecco welcome in the room. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks in the Pub. Fantastic dinner with 3 wine pairings beside the fireplace with a candle lit table. Amazing staff , thank you Bill and Ali. Huge single malt selection in the Pub. Electrical problems while there. Less than 30 minutes. Emergency lighting did not operate. That said they would report/repair. In short, we loved it. We’ll return after Thanksgiving for Christmas decorations with family. Well done! We will return. Thank you!❤️❤️❤️❤️

• Debra (10/5): A very relaxing and romantic place to celebrate our 51 years of marriage - Beautiful antiques yet comfortable. Warm ambience in every room. Staff is extremely attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. There was a glitch with the room (on Booking.com's end) and the staff fixed it immediately, even upgrading our room when they discovered we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Breakfast choices are wonderful and suit any diet. Dinner is always a spectacular event There was not a thing we did not like. Our stay was perfect.
• Athena222 (10/5): Cozy, delightful, and a world away - Antrim 1844 is a truly delightful place. My husband and I stayed in the main house (there are a number of other room/suite choices in other buildings on the property). The entire facility is impeccably decorated in mid-1800s style furniture, paintings, and wall hangings. Many of the rooms have fireplaces, both woodburning and gas. Our room, Clabaugh, had a cozy king featherbed, with an antique armoire and other furniture and a view out two sides of the building over what in non-winter months is the garden. The Smokehouse Restaurant in the main building was excellent, with a seven-course dinner offering that was well worth the cost. The executive chef is a young Peruvian, who apparently trained with the best. The cuisine was creative, flavorful, and had many unexpected but delicious details. Our stay felt like stepping back in time; we were looking for a not-too-far-away getaway, and Antrim 1844 fit the bill perfectly. We'll be back.

The hotel let us into our beautiful room early. They offered complimentary afternoon tea service. They accommodated us for dinner a La carte due to the snow. We had a wonderful time just enjoying the hotel and snowfall. Thank you!

The fireplaces were warm and inviting, afternoon tea was delightful, we dined there at one of the most memorable meals ever. 5 star indeed! Our room was exquisite. Dort, the owner, thought of everything. Stationary, bath salts, robes, slippers, bottled waters, coffee/tea station, bathroom Antrim branded glassware, remarkable decor, just delightful. This was our 2nd stay during Christmas and we plan on making it our own tradition. I wouldn’t dream of commenting anything negative. Nothing but positive things to say!
• Jodie (5/5): I do not see returning again. Room and the food was not like before. This is a 2.5 -3. Star place. - Walking my Service Dog . I like the fireplace in the pub . The staff when checking in refused to give a suitable room. They blamed it on booking and it was the hotel that assigned the room and stated that I could change if I was not happy. When I arrived they refused and wanted to charge more money. The hotel was empty . This was very poor service and greed. I was shocked and asked to speak to the MGr. They said there wasn’t a mgr on site. They think it’s okay to treat guest this way. They could have easily switched rooms to accommodated which they promised to do. I was given one of the worst rooms available. I travel with a service dog and it’s sad that people give the worst spaces and discriminate . The breakfast was not 4 star worthy or the hotel. This place is declining. I travel all over and I can report it’s not a stellar place at all any-longer. It’s the land of Hershey Bars and UtZ Potatoes chips with carpets that need updating . The entire place needs a fresh look. The building and decors need attention. The room was full of Lady Bugs.

Higher quality multi grain bread should have been available for toast. The cooling/heating system was problematic. We had to call desk to have it turned up/down. The response was always friendly, but it isn't comfortable asking for heat to be turned down twice during the evening knowing that you are requesting something that other people on same floor might feel differently about. I suggest getting each room self-regulated.

• Precocious (10/5): Most elegant, superb service luxury Inn - We booked this for a weekend getaway as the weekend would be National Indigenous People Day aka Columbus Day. We were so pleased with this decision. Antrim 1844 is breautiful. The grounds well maintained. Our Suite (2 story loft) style is beautifully decorated. It is classy. Our bathroom had a jacuzzi tub/shower. Everything about our room is perfect. And we also booked the several course dinner. It was superb. You start in the grand foyer (what a beautiful room) with a pianist playing on Antrim 1844's Steinway Piano. We indulged and very pleased from the time we enjoyed some bubbly and hors 'douevres at the foyer to enjoying the next several courses at the Smokehouse Restaurant. The folks here know what luxury elegance hospitality is all about. And they were fully booked with a huge wedding going on. Even with all these going on, their staff were so efficient. Tristan (I think that's what he said his name was), our waiter is excellent. We definitely will be back.

• N1078ZSmariab (2/5): Not worth your money or time - On August 24, 2024, my husband and I checked into this inn. We have stayed at several Select Registry properties throughout the country and are accustomed to the quality of service that comes with that designation. Throughout our stay, we were surprised and saddened to learn that this property was not on par with any of the others on which we have stayed. It was not until we checked in that we realized how far removed our room was from the rest of the facility. It felt as though we were on a separate property entirely from that which is portrayed on your website. The condition of the room was also subpar. There were chunks of dust hanging from the air conditioning vents and the deck furniture was uncomfortable and dirty. We understand that things are not always exactly as they are advertised and, with that understanding, we settled in to enjoy the property. Upon heading to the Rose Garden, activity lawn, and pool areas, we quickly discovered that a wedding was about to take place and that the grounds were not, in fact, available for use. The following morning we requested to be moved to another room that was closer to the main area of the property. We were assigned to another room. When we arrived in the room, it was very warm. When we tried to adjust the thermostat it remained stuck at 68 degrees. Even with that, no cool air was blowing. We called the front desk and someone came over to assist us. He could not fix the issue and waited with us while he called for someone who could. After a while, he informed us that he was told that no one would be able to come until the following day. In addition, there were bugs all over the bathroom. Once again, we set out to enjoy the grounds and, once again, there was a wedding taking place and we were unable to. We decided to sit on the front porch of the Smith House and relax but the music and festivities prevented us from enjoying the solace which we craved during our getaway. That night, we tried to sleep but the room was sweltering. The following morning we woke up and checked out a day earlier than planned. My husband and I have had a very difficult year as a result of issues both at work and within our family. We have not been able to get away and were looking forward to these few restful days together. In addition, it was our anniversary and we were looking forward to celebrating. We left this property feeling more stressed than we were upon our arrival. We are seasoned travelers and know that we need to expect the unexpected and we are adept at “going with the flow.” However, the issues that we faced at this Inn went above and beyond that. When booking, it should be made clear to guests if weddings will be taking place during their stay and they should be made aware that access to the property will be limited, if not non-existent. It should also be clear that some of the outbuildings are so far removed from the main area that you feel as though you are on a different property altogether. Currently, we still have a charge pending on our credit card and we are unclear as to what it is for. We also never received an emailed receipt. This place is not what is seems to be. Yes, the grounds are beautiful. However there is a good chance that they will be inaccessible during your stay. The rooms and service do not match the quality of other Select Registry properties. Your money and time would be best spent elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I am so disappointed that it did not meet my expectations. Morning coffee tray service was not delivered to the room either morning I was there. Breakfast was pretty standard both mornings - eggs/meat/toast. Nothing special. The lunch at the pool was served about 45 minutes late. I also think they should point out that a TV is not available in the room (Ice House and other rooms)! Surprised us. Also the layout of the Ice House bathroom is a little awkward. On a positive note, I thought the pool and gardens were lovely! Staff was a mix - both good and then could care less experiences. Dinner in the smokehouse was good and the dining area quaint but not over impressed with the menu. Our exceptional waitress Cynthia saved the evening. Overall, a nice experience but definitely not worth the money compared to other places in my opinion. Definitely would not return.

• 587gerryl (10/5): Valentines Day 2024 - A quick trip back (have been before, but it has been awhile) for Valentines Day. Loved every minute. Reception was great, afternoon tea, drinks on the back porch, super relaxing atmosphere! Our room was wonderful. Luxurious bedding, nicely appointed, and very comfortable. Dinner in the smokehouse restaurant was a world class experience. The food was exceptional - nice choices and very creative! The wine list is amazing. We picked a deep dark treasure that caught our eye and it was perfect! Be sure to plan on a bit of time to go through the wine list (more appropriately described as a book) and ask all the questions you like, they will have all the answers. Will definitely keep this place on the go to list. It is a 1 hour 30 minute drive for us, very up scale and elegant, historical, yet not outrageous.

• kel400 (6/5): Its the details - i was SO looking forward to this stay! i have so many friends that have been, i researched all the rooms, and in the end everything just kinda fell flat. it was a good stay, not great. i was surprised, the day of, when i tried calling the hotel several times to see if they had an ironing board in the room, but no one ever picked up. when i arrived i could see why....the hotel clerks just hit a button on the phone in front of me while the phones rang, i'm assuming sending them to voicemail. verbal directions given to us for our room/building were spotty, and the paper map given to us was not drawn to scale. our room was clean and spacious, but did not match the website description. website for sleigh room says there is only a shower, but (surprise) it also has a tub with jets. fireplace works, but you are supplied with only 2 pieces of wood in the fireplace and 2 extra small logs on the side. your split of champagne is there when you arrive, but there's no ice in the bucket. oh you wanted it chilled? also, my bath water never got hot. and of course the coffee maker was there but not enough coffee provided. we were able to call the bellhop for reinforcements, but all of this should have been taken care of before arrival. the bed was comfortable, and while we were attached to another room next to us, we had quiet neighbors and were able to sleep at night. for the price paid, it isn't worth it. there are so many other places to go.

We celebrated our 48th anniversary at Antrim because of its romantic setting - and its 5-star restaurant with special anniversary menu was superb ❤️. We spent 2 very cozy days there and never left the premises. Also enjoyed meeting and talking with other guests. This was our 4th stay there... and we'll be back, again, for sure!

• FellowTraveler825917 (8/5): Beautiful place...weak staff! - This was our umpteenth time at the Antrim. Without a doubt this place delivers a visual feast from the opulent common rooms, the gardens and the rooms most which are lovely as well. But the staff is barely a "B" team. We stayed for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary and we knew there would be weddings...oh those dreaded weddings!! There were 4 the weekend we stayed. The Antrim is all about weddings so if you are a regular guest, be prepared to feel like a second class citizen. And the staff will make it very clear they feel overwhelmed and put upon due to all the wedding demands. That led to numerous staff missteps over the weekend and for the price that is simply not acceptable. They need a crash course in the Ritz Carlton's mantra, "Ladies & Gentlemen serving Ladies & Gentlemen" . But maybe that sophistication is simply not available in the area. Case in point...when we could not find a way to shut off the overhead lights directly over our bed and inquired about it at the front desk, we were told "Oh yeah, your not the first guests who have asked about that ....but I don't know how they work either..the most recent guests said they reached up and unscrewed the lights bulbs...sorry" . At $350 a night!!!! I freaked out. I groused about at it at the bar and that got the ball moving and eventually we were told where the "hidden" switch was located. Absolutely "B" team staff for the most part. The food is always good but my Filet was mediocre. It's hard to write this as this has been a favorite for years! Same owners for many years but they need better staff who can live up to the hype and the price this Inn puts forth.
• TwoTrippinTens (10/5): The Magic is Back - THE MAGIC IS BACK!!! This bed & breakfast has been our go-to place for all of our special occasions. They even hosted our daughter's wedding last year. We had two disappointing stays in 2022 and were thinking we needed to find another place, but apparently the owners caught wind of the deficiencies and made staffing changes. Our stay in July 2023 convinced us to return regularly. The front desk staff worked to create a unique and memorable experience for us. The mansion, restaurant, and rooms have quite obviously received a thorough cleaning. You can once again count on the things you've always counted on from Antrim 1844. Greg, the director of food and beverage for the pub and restaurant, is always professional and accommodating. Breakfast is once again plentiful and freshly made to order. I can hardly wait to go back in the winter months to soak in a jacuzzi, next to a roaring fire, in a well-appointed room at this gorgeious, historical estate!

A lot was going on, and they handled, in my opinion, like pros. Thank you, Reid and Summer, for a beautiful stay. Our king bed was very uncomfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a box spring. The bedding reminded me of my home: clean and soft.

• 674douglash (10/5): A culinary adventure - I'm rarely impressed with every facet of a meal; however, last night was one of them. Along with the perfect Bulleit Rye Manhattan, the chef sent out three starters for us which were cucumber thing, a crab cake and a cheese thingy. Dining there you get to choose from a limited things for the several course meal. I started with the octopus which was done absolutely correctly. The potato and leak soup was good. I had diver scallops which again were perfection. There were intermezzos of cucumber granite to clean the palate. The Crème Brule was better than Rillos when they were operating. Our wait person knew the menu as well as wine pairings. It was a great culinary adventure.

• Gohokies2021 (6/5): Not worth it! - My husband & I stayed at the Antrim this past weekend for a one night stay. We did the Wine & Dine package and stayed in the Reinhart room. We were super excited for this stay as it had been recommended to us. Upon arrival at around 12:30pm, we were excited to see that our room was ready. The woman who checked us in was not friendly at all. We heard the gentleman checking in another couple warmly welcoming them & asking if the couple would like a tour since they were first timers. The person checking us in gave us a map with some instructions on the back. That's it. When we asked her how to get to our building, it was obviously a hardship to tell us. Lastly, when we asked for bottles of water, they were warm. It was an 85 degree day. We asked for ice & glasses which took her 15 minutes to get. Every other B & B that we have stayed at, and there have been many, had a butler's pantry. Not here-no opportunity to get ice or cold drink. The pool was lovely & we sat out under a tree for several hours relaxing. This & our room was the best part of our stay. Our room was beautiful; very spacious & well appointed! The main reason we came to the Antrim was for the 6 course dinner with wine pairings. My husband & I love fine dining experiences & have had quite a few over the years. This one was underwhelming. The food was good, not great & for the price it was disappointing. The whole meal was rushed; we couldn't keep up with the food or wine so we really couldn't enjoy either. The offerings on the menu were not amazing; I had salmon for my dinner which is my least favorite fish. I didn't like any of the other offerings though & so I felt I had to settle. While it was good, it is not something I would typically order. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant that evening so everyone else was even more rushed. It wasn't crowded at all; maybe tables total. Our waitress was lovely & attentive and when we asked her to slow down, she did. But it was obvious that she wasn't in charge of the pacing. The afternoon tea was meh; I've been to quite a few & this one was lacking. Very few offerings & no iced tea. The breakfast the next morning was OK; nothing special. I guess overall that is how we felt; nothing special, no real amenities, but you are certainly paying top dollar. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Maybe if it was half the price, but it wasn't.
• Q7173IUsarahs (2/5): Horrible - We were very unhappy with our stay. We were in the Boyd Room in the mansion. There was a wedding happening in the rose garden which the Boyd Room is right over. We were not able to use the outdoor patio in the afternoon or the rose garden due to the wedding. It was a beautiful day and it would have been nice to sit on the outdoor patio and overlook the rose garden with a cocktail. Was not an option and could not enjoy our room because of the noise from the wedding. Make sure to ask if there is a wedding booked the days you are booking. Weddings are very disruptive to other guests not at the wedding. We went to dinner at the smokehouse and it was just par. Would not recommend spending the money. The next day we came back from Gettysburg for the afternoon tea. After walking in the front door to the mansion we noticed all the doors were closed. As we walk back to the door for the afternoon tea we were informed that the hotel is closed for the day. How can the hotel be closed for the day when we were booked for one more night in the Boyd Room we ask. Front desk says "did they not tell you we were closed today when you booked". Obviously not. My husband and I went to our room so I could make myself a cup of tea with the Keurig but the water is not warming. I go down to ask for hot water at the front desk and I am given a blank stare. They could not even get me some hot water. This is were I lose it. I asked for a manager but there is no manager in because the hotel is closed. I request to be refunded for the day and check out but they must call the manager first to get the ok. They apologies to the manager for bugging them on their day off to ask if we can be refunded for the day. How about an apology to us for not letting us know they are closed on this Monday. How about letting us know when we checked in on Sunday that they were closed the next day. On top of this they were checking all fire alarms in the Mansion that particular day. I have called to speak to the front office manager the past three days and have left two messages to call me. No call has been received. I asked to speak to the general manager and was told they would not talk to me because this is a front office manager situation. I cannot make this stuff up. Unfortunately this put a big damper on our 35th wedding anniversary. It was not worth the over $600.00 we spent there for 1 night and dinner.

• Tabitha (10/5): Amazing stay at The Beautiful Antrim 1844 Inn! - It was a beautiful historic inn. I spent two weeks trying to find the perfect, romantic hotel to take my wife to as a surprise for Valentine's Day and kept coming back to this, it also was the only place I could find that has a jet tub, balcony, Fireplace, and king bed all in one room. I have stayed at a lot of places but this is the only place that not only checks all of the boxes but had no issues. The staff was amazing, the property is beautiful, and every building is from the 1800s, every piece of furniture/artwork is authentic to the period if not from that period with a touch of modern. The manager Donnie; was great, helpful, and knowledgeable about the location. The manager stated that the owners bought the main building/mansion in 1980 after it sat vacant for 20 years, brought it back to its former glory, and over time continued to buy each house on the property from the 1800s and turned them into rooms as well. Named them after the Generals or soldiers that stayed there during the war. They have put their sweat, tears, and heart into this. The female owner is also an interior designer who redid every room on the property and made sure to buy each piece from the 1800s to keep up with that time. We stayed in the Winfred room and I highly recommend it. N/A

The lack of parking near the mansion. The long distance from the mansion to the other houses that have the room we stayed in. Our shower didn’t work at all, but the front desk did try to address it, but we just left early and went home.

My bathroom needs an update. My own fault I did not read that there was only a tub and no walk in shower in my room. First time since 1981 I did not have a shower in my hotel room. That was my hotel in London.
• rtnovell (10/5): Beautiful Historic Inn - We decided to run away overnight and we lucky enough to score reservations to the restaurant so made it a night in the hotel. The mansion is just beautiful with lovely grounds and lots of cozy alcoves to sit and enjoy a drink or tea in front of a fireplace there are many. The Pickwick bar had many choices and a huge fireplace, they also made a nice “mocktail” for me. Very cozy with a wonderful bartender. Our room the Clabaugh was immaculate, there was a working fireplace with wood and kindling, a very nice touch. The bathroom modern and toiletries were nice. The bed was very very firm. My husband did not mind however so I am sure that is personal. The room is lovely with a sitting room next door. It is at the top of the winding staircase so there was some day noise however at night it was very quiet. We had tea in the afternooon and breakfast cooked to order, so all in all a wonderful run away at a historic inn with warm staff and good food, what else could you ask for? Highly recommend.

I paid a deposit but they claimed they had no record of that so I ended up paying twice for the room and they charged the wrong card despite me giving them the correct card to charge. Such a headache just from dealing with these stupid issues that shouldn't have been issues at all.
• Crazyh0rse67 (8/5): Still good, but not great this time… - I’ve been going to Antrim for 30+ years, and it is still a good place too unwind. The gardens look better than ever. There is no wonder that they host so many weddings there. I still highly recommend this place, but I had noticed a little fall-off in my last visit. This is minor stuff, but for a place that was 100% perfect to me in the past, they were noticed. The main disappointment was the cleanliness of the restaurant. While having breakfast, I noticed that there were large (and very obvious) cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and there were numerous dead insects, cobwebs and dust on the window blinds right next to our table. The building is obviously ancient, but one run-through with a stiffer would have taken 5 minutes. There is no excuse for that level of filth in an inn of this caliber. Also, the breakfast server had a little attitude (also noticed by another couple). I will say that our 6-course dinner server (Kelly) was outstanding, and had a great attitude. Another peeve was that I went in for the English tea at about 3:55 (it is over at 4:00PM) and the server said it was over and didn’t offer me any of the tea or pastries that she was packing-up. I found it a little odd that she was closing-it-down early but didn’t even offer. The food in the Smokehouse restaurant was good, but not outstanding as compared to past meals. The wine pairing was fun and the pours were generous. Like I said, I still recommend the place and plan on going back, but I hope this is not the start of a downward a slide in quality for a place I have visited and stayed at numerous times. Possibly there are still staffing challenges related to Covid. I’m sure Covid hit the Antrim hard.

• Don (3/5): Poor - Complete lack of customer service. Even though we asked for housekeeping (for a four night stay), all we received was a pile of towels. Bed wasn’t made, dirty glasses not removed, bathroom not cleaned- and this was well last COVID restrictions. The property is clearly challenged- numerous maintenance issues were clearly apparent, staffing was below par, etc. Too bad as the property has great potential. Lack of housekeeping, lack of response by staff, limited dining options
