Guest Reviews
- Noel (8/5): Loved the solitude and friendly staff - which was minimal in numbers - Very quiet and clean with super friendly staff full of smiles. It is constructed in timber and thatch with a very authentic and African feel Nothing
- Tyce (10/5): Afrocentric, comfortable and a great value! - The atmosphere of the lodge is phenomenal! The rooms are amazing. I love the outdoor shower, the thatched roof, the mosquito nets, the comfortable beds, and the courtyard. This amenities of Munga eco Lodge are just the beginning. The staff is what makes it a great place to stay. While staying, my wife fell ill. Innocent and staff cared for her and went above and beyond to make her comfortable as she recovered. I will be back. I will take my family. I will take future teams to stay as well.
- Gino (8/5): Very good - Amazing staff, comfortable and clean cottage. Not 100% their fault but there was no power for two days during which we didn't have hot water.
- Chrisna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Pets/cats
- Cornelis (10/5): We will come back! - The star gazing bed outside on the terrace. Plus great freshly made food from a nice a la carte menu Nothing
- Muloongo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Van (6/5): Lovely serene setting with enormous amount of space. Very close to the gates of Vic Falls. - The location and staff were great and it really is eco friendly = elephant at the gate! Great artistic space with unconventional finishing's. No coffee station in the room meant you have to wait for the staff to arrive at 8am. Tricky for me who rises at 6h30. The 8am coffee was filter and GOOD! I am a travelling 'worker' and the WIFI was NOT conducive for working on the road. Couldn't pay because no signal, couldn't work because of unstable connections. You have to draw cash for everything because not much option to swipe VISA cards. The WIFI and coffee were scarce
- Perseu (10/5): Amazing - All the operators of munga are so kindly No pool
- Denis (10/5): Exceptional - I loved everything Google location
- Mangena (8/5): Very good - Food, facilities, outside shower, lovely staff especially Carol and Mr Mulilo! Lack of electricity, particularly lighting most of our stay we woke up in the dark.
- Douwe (10/5): Very spacious accommodation, wonderful staff - Quiet
- David (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Power cut while we were arriving, emergency lightling poor Africian type accomadation huts
- Laura (10/5): Clean and safe - It was perfectly clean, the breakfast was really good!
- Dlbueno (9/5): Our stay at the Munga Eco Lodge exceeded our expectations :) - Innocent and the others at Munga Eco Lodge were extremely attentive and helpful. The food was excellent! You will see lots of elephants walking by the lodge in the morning and evenings as they pass through the adjacent elephant corridor. Conveniently located between the town of Livingstone and the falls, neither were very far. The chalet's are much bigger than we expected, and the outdoor shower was amazing. There was plenty of hot water, and the new solar setup even provided 24hr electricity! Since it's located in the park, there's lots of wildlife around, so expect to see animals (large and small), some cute, and some not so cute (insects). The mosquitos weren't nearly as much of a problem as we had feared either. Excellent value for the price. Nothing is really in walking distance from the property (other restaurants, shopping etc.)
- Medha (7/5): Offbeat, quiet but spacious rooms in the middle of the forest - The place was in the middle of nature, so really quiet & I loved the architecture, the room was huge, with a lovely outdoor shower, a bath tub & spacious outdoor seating facility. The location is far from the city and you cannot walk, because you're in the middle of the forest, it's not safe. At night, it's very quiet and dead, so don't expect there to be a vibe or any action in terms of dinner set up, etc. If you wish to have dinner, you need to inform them in advance else you will not find any food on site. Make sure to bring some snacks along in case you get hungry! There was no electricity due to load shedding for more than 12 hrs, and no possibilty to even charge your phones in the bedroom, it can only be done at the reception. You will have ONE solar powered light in the room which also doesn't last the day. Book here if you wish to be away from the crowds but have an appetite for extreme adventure!
- Renae (7/5): Go to Zambia get a driver & support the community it is a wonderful place to visit. - The staff were lovely & happy to help make us comfortable. The bed was really comfortable. Everything was clean. Bikes to ride around. The elephants all walking past. It was very quiet which we didn’t mind but it might be too quiet for some. Remember you’re in Zambia
- Loren (8/5): Very good - I loved and appreciated the chef creating a special menu for myself and my friend's daughter as we both have several dietary restrictions and the food was amazing There were a lot of mosquitoes everywhere
- Simon (7/5): Good -
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Ronald (2/5): Very poor - location no electricity
no wifi ever
the booking wasn’t booked indeed
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bandile (4/5): Fair - Location and size of room. The elephant crossing through the lodge was beautiful experience. There was 6hr long loadshedding during our stay. The breakfast set up is a rip off basics, as it should be inclusive of the rooms service fee,but they are considered as extras. The pool is non existent but we were not advised. The room was extremely cold.
- Christiaan (7/5): THe Palce is nice but sort of run down a bit. Minimum of staff.Staff is friendly enough -
- Cumberlidge (8/5): Very good - Staff were lovely people. Always willing to go out of their way to help. Lodges are cold at night. Also the power cuts, which are obviously not their fault, mean there is only very dim backup lighting in the lodges even when the generator is running.
- Molebogeng (10/5): Zambia is not the best holiday destination for South Africans; their limited amenities offered in Livingstone are charg - Staff courtesy, spaciousness, effortless elephant viewing. Warm winters. Nothing wrong with the property.
About Livingstone:
The gap between the local rate and the tourist rate is crazy.
At Musi oa Tinus (Vic falls) locals pay K10 vs $125 for us.
Boat K8.85 vs. $75 -$80.
- Henry (8/5): Very good - Very accommodating and friendly
- Kay (8/5): Very good -
- Kei (7/5): Decent stay at this price, the staffs are very friendly and helpful - Staff was very friendly, Locate is a bit remote from both the Livingstone town or the Victoria Falls, you will need to arrange transport wherever you go. Wifi is very weak
- Juliette (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was very kind and very helpful.
- Basma (2/5): Very bad, not recommended at all. - The staff were helpful. They are the only good thing about the place. Almost everything was bad: the room was not clean, the ceiling fan was making a terrible noise, there is no comfortable chair inside the room and sitting outside is not possible because of the insects. Breakfast was very bad, just some chemical tasting juice, white toast, jam and butter and very bad coffee. The Wifi does not work in the room and cuts off every few minutes. What makes it even worse is that electricity is totally cut for 8-10 hours daily with no back up! I had to cancel after my first night, and after paying for 3 nights, and asked them for a refund for 2 nights and they promised to do so.
- Arun (6/5): Pleasant - Location and ambience of place was good Breakfast and food choices were not good.
- Cornelia (9/5): Superb -
- Tomas (9/5): Friendly - Enviroment, staff
- Ahmed (7/5): Good -
- Naomi (10/5): - What a wonderful stay! This unique eco-lodge is lovingly built with so many fun and artistic features. We really enjoyed the cool sleep and outdoor shower but the grounds are quiet and picturesque too. The staff is beyond attentive and helped us book a safari day at Chobe as well, for a very reasonable price. The restaurant menu is a bit limited but it’s so close to everything that it’s easy to find some variety nearby. We will be recommending Munga to everyone! And we hope next time we come to find the natural swimming pool ready for us! Thank you.
- Holliday (8/5): Very good -
- Andreas (8/5): Location, Friendly Staff, Spacious and Comfortable. - Innocent and the team were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. All our requests were met and they were happy to go that extra mile to make us more comfortable. Location was Ideal for all our activities and close proximity to a shopping complex with Shoprite and a Pharmacy. Unfortunately the pool was under renovation but I'm sure this will be sorted out soon. In the meantime we used the neighbor lodge pool which was organized by Innocent. That pool was perfect for the family to laze around in the hot sun.
- Willie (7/5): Good -
- Thabang (8/5): Beautiful game lodge. Really loved the outside shower, the space and design of the rooms. . -
- Lisa (6/5): Pleasant - Location and size of rooms. Thank you to the very Accommodating staff that were very helpful. Millions of mosquitoes and very noisy fan above beds
In three nights stay - one night the bar was noisy till 1 :30 am.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annah (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (10/5): Great Zambian hospitality - Lovely buildings and location Was a shame the pool wasn’t in use
- Marketa (9/5): Superb - The entire premises were well-kept and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and the accomodation was spacious and clean. A particular highlight was the outdoor seating and outdooe shower of each chalet. We would recommend.
- Federico (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nkosekaya (9/5): The bush scenery is something to behold. I would love to visit the lodge in the summer. - The rooms are spacious, staff really friendly and accommodating. Extremely peaceful. Would have liked to at least have a bar fridge in the room for perishable supplies especially for a longer stay. Also a wifi connection would have made the stay even more comfortable. The hot water pressure was also low so it takes longer to run a bath.
- Rene (8/5): Very good -
- Pablo (9/5): Best sleep ever! - We all had The best sleep!!
Very peaceful, confy beds and we did hear elephants at night!! It would be great to have fresh fruit available
- Sigrid (10/5): We loved it and will certainly come back as well as recommend this lodge to all friends - Really good beds, nice and private bungalows, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast and dinner cooked by Myriam are really a treat. Shower hose was a bit short for some in our family
- Janice (7/5): Good - Breakfast was fine Evening meal
- Martin (8/5): Good value for money to explore Livingstone - Really good value for money compared to other alternatives in the neighbourhood No soap in the bathroom, the doors to the chalet were very difficult to close, the sheets were not clean
- Alvin (5/5): Passable -
- Bhavna (8/5): Throughly enjoyable and comfortable - Great Unique facilities.... cycling was brilliant.....
A superb experience of village living. All good
- Mumba (9/5): exquisite! - I think next time would like to have a swimming pool and also game drive options. Otherwise i loved the outside shower
- Kenji (10/5): Great place, outstanding staff, very promising eco-project. - Outstanding place. We stayed in a Zambian-style hut which had everything we needed inside. It was comfortable, with a very quirky charm.
The location was great, not too far from the city centre as well as the Victoria falls. The staff was outstanding and very helpful, ensuring our stay was as great as it could be. Nothing, would definitely recommend the place.
- Melville (8/5): Very good - I liked the peaceful bush setting... lovely and relaxing. The room was big and clean, and while facilties are basic, they are perfectly fine. Lack of wifi in the rooms. Poor wifi quality in the reception area. (I needed to work)
- Eckart (8/5): Very good -
- Sultan (9/5): Superb - Wonderful.lodge with good location and the staff there I think Maria and her sister were just amazing and very helpful indeed.they went out of their way to accomicmdat3 us even though the lodge was almost full Nothing
- Scott (8/5): Very good - Nice place with cool, big rooms and friendly staff Far from town, need to take a taxi. Pool was not working when we were there.
- Giada (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (5/5): Passable -
- Tracy (8/5): Good location. Warm hospitality. Peaceful. - Great service, good breakfast. Very peaceful place.
Large room ~ outdoor shower.
- Trudie (8/5): Very good - Spacious rooms, great staff, location Restaurant closes 19:00, a bit early.
- Giovanna (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is really helpful, the place is comfortable, the food is good. I've seen a pool with work in progress which is not listed in the hotel facilities but I'm confident it will be there next time!
- Bryony (9/5): Amazing value for money place with a very African feel - Everything! The huge round hut, huge bathroom, African feel, huge outdoor area, furnishings, fan inside the mosquito net, huge mosquito net, lovely check in staff Not too much hot water and no fridge in the room (but we were able to store our food in the main fridge in the kitchen.)
- Vlahakis (1/5): Bad - The actual chalet was clean, well designed and comfortable. The inaccurate description of the property, claiming it has a swimming pool and a restaurant, these being the 2 specific facilities i sought, and neither were available. The facility is difficult to find at night and is located quite a distance from town.
Accessing the property at night was difficult as there were no lights around the premises to indicate where the reception was.
I checked in at 7pm and was told that the restaurant was closed. The reception staff were appallingly rude and it took 1hr of them yelling at me, before they offered to cook my 8yr old son a fried egg and toast for his dinner. None of the food outlets contacted were prepared to deliver food to the lodge due to its distance from town. The staff also blatantly refused to provide me with the manager/owners details.
Very poor water pressure in the room, also meant that the bath in the room is purely decorative as the water trickles in.
The chalet's security left a lot to be desired, as the outdoor shower has a gate that opens external to the unit, that was unlocked and thus accessible to all, giving direct access to the chalet itself. The premises surrounding the chalet too, were in darkness.
- Mohamed (10/5): Exceptional - The place is very nice.
- Celine (9/5): Superb -
- Masoka (6/5): Fair Stay - Value for money especially if you just looking for a place to sleep, there's also privacy because the chalets are spaced out. The ladies that work at reception played music the whole night(I think they invite their friends) my husband had to come out to tell them to lower it down. This happened for 2 nights
- Emel (10/5): Exceptional - There was a friendly atmosphere at the lodge - every single staff member (gatemen/reception/activity bookers/kitchen team) were kind, worked as a team and nothing was too much trouble. They were super helpful with arranging activities even when we decided a bit last minute! The room was cleaned daily. The outdoor shower was refreshing and the whole lodge felt calm peaceful and full of nature. As a bonus the music being played at the bar was always great!
- Mthandazo (8/5): Very good - Comfort No wifi
- Devine (8/5): Very good -
- Suman (5/5): Double booked, average stay - Staff are friendly, food and drinks were reasonably priced, the chalets were private and nicely designed. Room: shower has hardly any power and doesn't always work properly. The room would benefit from a kettle to make tea. The curtains don't close properly. You have to walk outside your bedroom to get to the bathroom! No wifi in bedrooms.
Facilities: the pool is unusable at the moment. The whole site/ grounds in general need attention as it looks run down. There isn't anything to do as such. It would be nice to offer massages, pool and a more extensive food menu.
Like many others, we were double booked and only found out when we arrived! We had to find somewhere else to stay for 2 nights, so only got the 1 night at Munga. Whilst they didn't charge for that, we were left considerably out of pocket trying to find somewhere decent on the day during the busy christmas/ new year period as well as the inconvenience of travelling to different hotels.
Munga should have been more accomodating and at least included our meals and drinks for the 1 night we were there. This review would have been far more favourable if they did that, but customer service in that regard was not up to scratch.
- Parvez (3/5): My experience was not that great. Even though the staff was very good there were many issues. 1. there’s no Wi-Fi in the - location is good. advertisement says Free WiFi but in actual Wi-Fi is only available in common places and not in the rooms.
- Imraan (8/5): Very good -
- Andron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): - A really nice hotel. The rooms are divided into separate villas. Breakfast is better than average for Zambia. The ECO hotel might benefit from more LED lighting to reduce power consumption. A few more hooks in the bathroom and shower areas would be helpful.
- Christine (10/5): - My stay at the Munga Eco-Lodge was a dream. It was perfectly peaceful, comfortable and lovely and the staff could not have been more pleasant, helpful and accommodating.
The food was some of the best I've had. The kitchen makes "western" dishes but was more than happy to make me local dishes when I requested and when you try the coffee you will find yourself not be able to wait until morning. I learned it is grown locally and I was able to buy some to bring home. I stocked up and I will probably think of going back when I run out!
It is a short, beautiful drive to Victoria Falls along an elephant corridor and I saw elephants and zebra. Visiting the national park that is next to the lodge I saw every kind of animal.
A bonus of staying there was that the shuttle service that the lodge uses provided the most delightful service imaginable. The driver was outgoing and personable and instantly could answer any question or take me to exactly what I needed or was looking for and always ensured I'd be safe. If needed he went with me places and if he had to wait he was completely patient. He really took my visit over the top.
It was a trip of a lifetime and I will miss everyone I met there.
- ANDREW (10/5): - Very enjoyable stay. Great for Vic Falls and Livingstone town.
- Etienne (10/5): Romantic and charming - Very nice lodge, with a romantic feel. The thatched roof cottages are spacious and well equipped. We had one near the natural pool. The open-air shower is a definite must!
One feels very close and connected to the environment. Loved hearing the sounds of the African bush around. On the way back from the falls, we saw elephants in the afternoon. The same herd made its way to the gate in the evening and we could observe them from a few metres away.
Food is simple but good and the team is very helpful (they proactively contacted us to arrange shuttle service and helped us to book activities).
We will be back, for sure, as we want to see the falls with high water levels!
