Guest Reviews
- Rachel (10/5): Aaaand relax.... - Informative, friendly communication.
Beautiful, peaceful location.
Comfortable cabin. Nothing, but a handrail on back steps would be handy.
- Guy (10/5): Perfection - Location, location, .location Leaving
- Ryan (9/5): - Cottage and location Pool was lovely to look at but was not heated and the area around was not well maintained. The cottage also had candles and a fire place but did not provide a lighter to use them.
- Malcolm (7/5): - Great location Owners dog followed us around and broke thru the tennis court fencing to get to our dog. It then followed us to the pool and was drinking from the pool water whilst we were trying to swim
- Tarz00711 (8/5): Loved our stay - Really enjoyed our stay , it was lovely and very relaxing , the room was great , bed comfortable and room clean and tidy , few minor maintenance issues that I did send text to owner about them , creek was heavenly and spent quiet a bit of time at the creek
Only disappointment we had was the WIFi
Was terrible we couldn’t connect to it the whole stay and the lake/ dam was very overgrown with long grass , we tried fishing and wanted to go to the middle to fish and but it was ingrown with long grass so couldn’t go there , rest of grounds were immaculate , we would live to come back again and stay at a different themed cabin to change it up
- Ashley (8/5): - The cabin was comfortable and homey. It was a lovely place to escape and rest as a group. The pool space was lovely, even on a cool day to enjoy the sun. Great out of town escape.
- Tara (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back - Loved the isolation , can completely relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of the outside world , the running water in the creek was heavenly and spent quiet a few hours by the creek picnicking fishing and relaxing , pool area looked great with a stunning view sadly didn’t get a chance to try pool this time , room was great , loved the country theme , bed comfortable , would stay again but try a different themed room next time to change it up Sadly the lake/ dam looked run down , the middle island was so overgrown it was unsafe to go to it due to possibility of snakes , looked so beautiful in pictures but didn’t live up to the pictures I had seen , tried fishing in the lake but only caught reeds and weed
- autumn (9/5): Absolutely tranquil - How private and beautiful the cottage and surroundings so peaceful Could of had extra towels but other then that perfect
- JoEllen (7/5): We loved the house, really beautiful. Could have used a few more comforts like games or cards since - No breakfast.
The house and area were very very beautiful. Great bathrooms.
The house was spacious and comfortable. A magnificent place to experience a spectacular thunder and lightning storm I knew we needed to bring our own food but there was no salt and no spare toilet paper!
We were aware there was not going to be good wifi. It was pretty non existent. Nothing the owners could do, but there were leeches.
- Maddison (10/5): -
- Paddy (10/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): - How quiet it was The shower and TV was a bit small
- Tricia (10/5): Exceptional !!! Will definitely return - Loved our stay . Thank you for such a restful, relaxing stay to recharge our batteries from every day life . Our cabin , number 8 , was beautiful . So well equipped , comfortable bed and massive bathroom. Shame it was summer as the open fire place was amazing. Especially loved sitting out on the deck enjoying the beautiful view and the tranquility.
- Miguel Angel (10/5): Un retiro para disfrutar de la naturaleza - Impresionante entorno, muy bien cuidado, cómodo y tranquilo. Nada, me gusto todo
- Elice (10/5): - The location is picturesque. Well appointed cabins, private and peaceful for a restful stay.
- Natalie (9/5): -
- Maria (9/5): -
- dave (6/5): - like the decor no communications had to call them to find out about getting into the room then they blamed Booking com for not passing the info on. no wifi info in the room had to send text to get wifi info
- Tom (10/5): -
- Darren (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Ken (7/5): Want to support local but property needs refresh, especially equipment. - Location amidst greenery. The themed chalets were nicely done. The equipment for guest to rent really needs to be cared for or replaced. Tennis rackets were damaged, fishing rods were not fit for purpose. The Internet was down though the reason for it is understandable. Also safety issue with broken tiles.
- Granville (10/5): Little slice of heaven - The location. The drive into the area. The drive up to the property., the scenery , the first impression of what we saw. The communication was excellent, the cabin was so homely, the whole thing in a nutshell... There was only one niggle if i had to. A draw across blind or curtain for the front door.....thats it. Well done Paul on a well presented , lovely hide away ❤️
- Emma (10/5): Paradise - We loved everything about this destination! The views, the cabin, pool and spa! Sitting on the deck with a wine was so peaceful. Was a great destination for a ladies weekend away! Will return with our families!
- Richard (10/5): -
- Melissa rose (8/5): Gods country! - The best country scenery from your glass cabin doors - it's magical! Views of rolling hills, green grass meadows, tall trees, cows and wildlife everywhere.
The pool area is divine with a rustic kitchenette, chairs tables and shade all around while you look over the valley from a two tiered pool.
The hosts are friendly and helpful and communicate quickly.
Huge spa bath and shower area.
Only 20 minutes out of town.
Highly recommend this beautiful place. The place states pet friendly but is more pet tolerant as it is strictly on leash everywhere (to protect our beautiful wildlife, which are in abundance so please abide by this rule as we ran into blue tounge lizards and water dragons, friendly birds and kangaroos).
There is no gated pet area which is fine if you have a well behaved dog. I went with a sausage puppy so it was a bit difficult for us but we made it work lol
The cabins could probably do with an upkeep like working fans and air-conditioning that cools well but for those views and the experience the stay is well worth it!
- Laura (10/5): -
- Tim (8/5): - Tranquility Nothing
- Brett (10/5): - Fantastic location and the accommodation was clean, comfortable and very homely. Definateley recomend and will be back for sure! Sofa bed was missing the mattress, but we didnt raise it with the venue and suspect they are unaware.

- Smile (9/5): -
- Emily (8/5): -
- Henri (7/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - The view was amazing and the cabin clean and comfortable No TV in Bedroom
- Jane (10/5): - Owners are exceptionally welcoming and accommodating, cottage was cleaned and lights turned on inside for a late check in

- Tomas (10/5): Truly amazing place to stay! 4 nights were clearly not enough... -
- Tanzil (10/5): - Nice location
- Oconnor (10/5): -
- Russell (8/5): -
- Craig (8/5): Awesome stay over 5 days, sleepy mornings and lazy afternoons my wife and I with our 2 dogs enjoyed every moment - Friday creek is located in a beauty valley with lush trees and vineyards nested on top of a ridge which overlooks the valley… Watch out for creepy crawlers as your right in the bush…
- Megan (10/5): -
- Ann (9/5): Lovely comfortable stay in a beautiful location - Location is lovely. Quaint comfortable cottage
- Campbell (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): We will be coming here for every Oztag tournament! - Absolutely beautiful and cozy cabin, there is so much to do at the retreat, plus all the animals you can see on the way to the retreat!
- Ben (10/5): -
- Wayne (9/5): -
- Lael (8/5): - Peaceful & quiet location & close to Coffs Harbour.
- Charmaine (5/5): - The cabin Having the owners contact me 3 Times during my stay about paying the money for the flowers which I already paid for whilst staying there. The owner came and woke us up about the payment. I showed them my bank transaction that I did pay (with a nice tip) to then continue to tell me about past visitors that trashed the cabin and using drugs This was not my concern. Then I got an email stating I was smoking inside the cabin. I emptied the ashtray that was outside in the fireplace. Wanting to charge me 220.fir smoking inside the residents.. Never staying there again.
- Shyslop (2/5): Entered up disappointing - The Friday Creek area itself is lovely how the retreat was disappointing to say the least.
All areas are tired and in need of repairs. No information in cabins regarding retreat information such as wifi, where leisure equipment is kept & so on. Broken chairs in pool area, items broken & not working in cabins. Most concerning was lifted wooden the deck which would case a serious injury.
At time of booking which was done through the retreats direct website, all cabins advised free firewood. During a phone call with owners after a chance comment about the firewood we where advised you have to bring your own or you could buy it at $12 a crate & the website has not been updated. In an email from the owners also advised it was mentioned in an email but it was not.
Not long after arrival we where delivery a small crate of firewood, enough for one night. We appreciated the delivery considering the miss information on the website. Unfortunately we then received a txt advising it was a mistake & they would pick it up, luckily we had not used it as I'm sure we would have been charged.
It's was very disappointing to say the least considering the cost of accommodation.
- Michael (8/5): -
- Kanishka (9/5): If you are looking for a weekend escape to relax and unwind on a budget, this is the place to be - The tranquil location, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but, close enough to cover all attractions Coffs has to offer.
Pristine rural surrounds with gorgeous views of upper Orara.
Great amenities such as a jacuzzi, fireplace to unwind yourself and have a quality time with the family. Phone reception was average depending on your carrier, given that there were no wi-fi.
- Fearless22441935312 (10/5): Peaceful and relaxing location - Beautiful well decorated good sized cottage, Perfect quiet location, Cottage nbr 9 has a fabulous sunken spa bath with a separate shower and an open fireplace. Two seating decks also available. Kitchen is well equipped. great place for a couples romantic getaway. Excellent hosts who were very accomodating. - kindest regards Jason
- Louisa (9/5): A perfect place for a retreat - so relaxing - Stunning location. Peaceful. I loved the deck seating area and the view. The spa bath was a nice touch too!
- Tahlia (10/5): - The accommodation and environment was truely top tier and very relaxing. Couldn't be happier and the food options were so yummy!
- JohnC14126 (10/5): Cute rural retreat - The Santa Fe cottage is beautifully decorated and spacious for 2 persons
Open fire and wine made for a romantic getaway
Some thoughtful touches eg cosy dressing gowns and sofa throws.
Views over the countryside and abundant bird life
Recommended!
- Jo (10/5): Exceptional - Cosy cottage with picturesque views of the countryside.
- Beverley (10/5): Total bliss. - Friday Creek Retreat was an amazing experience. Whether you want to just sit back, take in the view and relax or partake in hikes and exploring the surrounding nature it is all up to you. Dianne and Paul were wonderful hosts - always on call if you needed them, but also very happy to leave you to your own privacy.
Just book a couple of nights of luxury and judge for yourselves.
- Matt (8/5): Very good - Beautiful location, comfort for winter (heated aircon, fireplace, heated blankets) Great amenities lots of activities, fishing, tennis court, pool, pizza oven, bike riding, pet friendly.
- F1453UDmichaelo (10/5): Anniversary stay - Nice little cottages. Lovely location would return in the future. Great location close to coffs harbour only 20 minutes away. Great view out of the paddocks. All facilties were well presented. Lucky enough to miss all the rain that the area had in the last week.
- Foxxy72 (10/5): Just an awesome place to relax and unwind - We absolutely an awesome stay, it was so peaceful and chilled you could feel the stress just draining away from you when you arrived, the hosts and their daughter were so friendly, helpful and accomodating that you really had nothing to worry about, the extras that we asked for.. slow cooked dinner, breakfast, cocktail/champagne on arrival, fresh bread and more were well above our expectations, well worth the stay and most definitely will be coming back again NOT their fault at all but the only thing we didn't enjoy was the drive out there especially the first night when we went to the pub for dinner, it's a pretty long windy road...give yourself a few days to get used to it and it's all good and you'll be driving like a local in no time at all
- Jennifer (9/5): Paradise - This truly was a wonderful stay and we would gladly return. The place was very comfortable and the location fantastic. Open fire was great but a bit smoker. Not sure if you can do anything about this.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful, cosy, secluded, oasis, with the most stunning views of rolling hills, river, windmill, mountain, everything you need, including full kitchen, open fireplace, own deck, and spa. Attentive, genuine service, highly recommended ☺️ There could have been a few more condiments like cooking oil, otherwise it was perfect. I'm sure they would have provided if we asked ☺️
- Monika (8/5): Relaxing getaway with a charming country vibe; exactly what we were looking for. - Beautiful vista, comfortable bed, open fireplace.
- Voyage55945552179 (10/5): Peace and quiet guaranteed in the stunning Orara Valley - I stayed in Cottage 7 with my four-legged friend and had the best time from start to finish. It had the most amazing view of the rolling hills, cattle and mountains.
If you've forgotten your favourite book or music, the recreation room has lots of books, CDs, DVDs you can loan for your stay.
I joined Paul, one of the owners, and other guests for a woodfire pizza night in the barn, and had a great time. The pizza was delicious! It's also a great way to meet other guests staying at the retreat.
Tips:
1. Order groceries online and pick them up on the way before checking into Friday Creek Retreat. I had them delivered direct to my boot from Woolies at Park Beach and it was so quick and easy!
2. Bring your own paper towel and tissues. Everything else is well catered for by way of supplies.
3. Pack mozzie spray. It can get a little bitey.
4. Be prepared for majestic sunsets. I packed a bottle of bubbles and made an antipasto platter to take it all in!
If I had to be picky, the only thing the cottage I found was missing, was a blanket or a throw to keep warm on the couch before guests can start using the fireplace from 1st May.
- Katrina (8/5): Peace and quiet in a pet friendly cabin - Pet friendly. Cabin was clean and well equipped. Large bathroom with shower and spa bath. The veranda was nice with a hammock and table and chairs to eat outside with a view. Bed was comfortable and the location was good. Quiet and peaceful. Paul was very helpful. Wifi didn’t work. A vacuum for guests to use would help when accommodating pets. A cabin with fenced area outside for dogs to be off leash would be a bonus.
- Bill (8/5): Very good - Lovely setting and very peaceful Terrible internet connection
- Jodie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place to relax and unwind .
- Faasega (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (9/5): Loved our stay - thank you for a weekend of peace and serenity! - Serene and peaceful - this property is perfect for stepping back from busy lives to recharge. The property is located in beautiful surroundings.
- Juliana (10/5): Beautifully surrounded aptly named retreat. - Lovely property aptly named a retreat- so quiet with all that Australia natives can support. Nice and comfortable sleeping accommodation. Na
- 977marjorieg (10/5): Cottage Hideaway - What an absolute delight! We arrived in the rain as Cyclone Alfred was loitering off the coast of southern Queensland. We accepted Paul's offer to make pizzas with the green prawns and mozarella we had picked up on our way and, as the rain continued, we shared life stories and pizza and wine by the pool ... which was overflowing by this time! A loaf of fresh bread under an umbrella was deliverd by Celine the next morning.
We stayed for three nights as the weather worsened, and Paul and Diane stayed in touch making sure we were ok, and offering top-ups of food (and wine!) if needed.
Our cottage was gorgeous, beautifully appointed, a very comfortable bed, wifi, a more than adequate kitchen, and a spa bath. We even managed a load of washing and drying (free) in the community facility by the pool. Our little puppy Lilly, enjoyed romping around in the wet grass, accompanied by songs from the birds which took shelter from the rain on our covered verandah.
We would absolutely return, and highly recommend this beautiful hideaway.
- Damien (8/5): Very good -
- Kylie (1/5): Disgusting treatment of guests - Absolutely nothing this venue is a joke My nightmare experience. Abuse from management. There facilities are not what's advertised. It was our fault there cabins had no hot water. It was our fault there foreign workers didnt speak English after being out right rude. The reception they tell you not to go is actually a storage shed with a reception sign. Plus we were being watched when its ment to be a private retreat. Accused of things we didnt do. Anyone giving this place more than 1/4 star clearly didnt have their eyes open.
- kellyhU6377NL (10/5): 100% would recommend - We recently enjoyed a wonderful 3-night getaway that was truly a breath of fresh air. The place was beautifully presented, creating a serene atmosphere that felt miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It was incredibly relaxing and peaceful, allowing us to unwind completely. We were delighted by the abundance of butterflies and wild birds that surrounded the area, adding to the natural beauty. To top it all off, We even had a charming visit from a possum, which made the experience even more special. Overall, it was a perfect escape, and I can't recommend it enough for anyone looking to recharge in a tranquil setting.
- Fiona (9/5): Great place for a family or quiet getaway - - Awesome relaxing location, TV is very small and our didn't work
- Michael (10/5): Quiet retreat into mountains - Peaceful and secluded, take your food with you! Very comfortable. Lovely pool which we didn’t use due to the storm! Fantastic views and opportunity to relax and visit national parks including walking in the rain forest!
- chahanar (10/5): Best stay at Friday Creek Retreat - One of the best trips we have done and what a way to start the brand new year too! Friday Creek was the best way to rejuvenate, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We could not ask for anything better.
Our family dog enjoyed the stay as well!
Definitely recommend this place to everyone!

- V9218CKmicheller (10/5): A Little Piece of Heaven - If you need to take some time out for yourself, this is the perfect place to do just that.
Situated about 10 minutes from lovely Coffs Harbour in the beautiful Upper Orara bushland, you can go for a walk, take a dip in the inviting pool, enjoy a spa bath or relax on the shaded back porch and enjoy the sights and sounds of the countryside.
During winter, you can bask in the warmth of a fire in the gorgeous stone fireplace.
I also like the fact that the windows can be opened, so you can enjoy the fresh breezes that sweep across the valley.
Dianne and Paul are wonderful Hosts who will make you feel right at home. This is evidenced in the sweet personal touches like jigsaws, books and playing cards, cute knickknacks and bathrobes. There are also other thoughtful inclusions, like laundry liquid, basic kitchen supplies and insect repellent.
We cannot wait to return…
- Ping (3/5): Unpleasant - Room set up is good We had a very unpleasant experience as our dog was attacked by the owner’s dog, which frightened our god and our family. Surprised the dog came unleashed while their dog police said all dog need to be on lease when outside.
- Eliana (7/5): Nice place to relax - A huge potential to be amazing. The house was very cleaned and loved the decoration. The lack of care with the outdoor(swimming pool, tennis court, and some tree branches needed to be removed. We paid, considering what was offered, and it was a bit disappointed.
- Norah (8/5): Peaceful. - The cabin was gorgeous. The barrage of automated emails became wearing, especially because a lot were irrelevant. Perhaps they could be filtered so that if you paid on booking, you are not hectored about paying.
The useful one was the one that said that Google Maps could misdirect you; it promised detailed driving instructions but that wasn’t provided. There was enough information in the one that said to go to South Usland Rd.
- Sherin (8/5): Very good -

- Debbie (10/5): Scenery and tranquillity a 10! - Once you leave the highway and head towards the retreat, the scenery is spectacular! Our cabin was beautifully decorated in a morrocan theme, with mosaics in the bathroom particularly stunning and the spa for 2 perfect! The bed was very comfy, the kitchen had everything we needed and the views from the balcony heaven! And from the swimming pool...wow! The Friday night seafood platter was a highlight with beautiful fresh local produce, homemade dip, and prawn sliders. Also, it was great to have another night off cooking with one of the slow cooked meals on offer. We had a wonderful relaxing break thanks to our fantastic hosts Paul and Dianne.
- RobertandKarenM (10/5): Perfect to relax and unwind - Friday Creek Retreat is like a home away from home. It is an amazing place to relax, recharge and slow down.
The beautiful relaxing setting in the country, the privacy, the cabins, and the amazing pool area just perfect for unwinding.
The wonderful Hosts allow you to feel like you’re the only people there in your little cabin and help to make it a totally relaxing time.
We are absolutely going to make it a regular getaway.
- Debbie (10/5): Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! - Everything - from the serene beautiful location, comfortable spacious cabin, great amenities with pool, and nice owner. Thank you for a lovely stay, we are still talking about how great your retreat is and will be back to stay longer!

- Pumpkin20 (6/5): Disappointing! - We had high expectations for our getaway to here, after all the information on line & photos are beautiful, but….. everything is just tired. Our cabin did have a lovely view, but the outdoor furniture was in need of some oil/stain & some cushions so not comfortable for any length of time to sit. The kitchen had a freestanding stove, large fridge, the crockery, cutlery & kitchen utensils were a mismatch of items. The bed was very comfortable. We understand from the website that dogs are allowed, but we had dog hair on the lounge( obviously then on our clothing) so not sure about the extra cleaning. We used the communal laundry but it was untidy, with forgotten clothing items in the laundry tub & empty washing product containers. And the bikes were just piled up on the floor so you had to work around them. You couldn’t open the lid of the washing machine fully as the clothes dryer hung on the wall above the washing machine was too low. We didn’t use the pool it looked pretty but again tired, lots of weeds between the pavers. And we did see a green tree snake sunning itself on the steps between the top pool & bottom pool. We live in the country so are used to seeing snakes, but we do think that a sign letting everyone know that they may see “Sammy” would be a great idea.We did attempt a game of tennis but the court had a lot of weeds & built up silt & moss along the edges.
- Jennifer (8/5): A lovely outlook from the house. - Clean and a great view. Lovely to watch the sunset from the deck up high on the ridgeline. No hot water
