Guest Reviews
- 477alanah (10/5): Great place to stay - We stayed in one of the cute cabins, it was well maintained and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location and not too far from Ottawa. Great wifi. All the comforts of home. We would stay here again.
- BOO123-47 (2/5): Creepy !!! - I stayed there for months (lockdown Covid 19) I had no choice at the time, but I also didnt know how creepy these peope were. I was in a cabin,by myself, ( They have rooms at the front,,cabins in the back) Weird stuff started happening the second month...and didnt stop. they were coming into my cabin without notice/permission. I was missing things slowly...someone tried to break in my door at 3am,i called police they couldnt find her. (yes I went face to face with her,she took off) i would hear footsteps in the middle of the night, creeping around my cabin (my bed/head was on the back wall where there was nothing but trees and pature...I could hear crunching of leaves/sticks) My neighbor was also awoke by this, but we didnt know each other knew.) Then the scariest thing happened...I was watching tv,next thing I know, Im flat on my back ont he bed, knowing i had been drugged and hearing a mans voice , and a youger women saying....."under the airconditioner , and he said ok get out of here,NOW. I was terrified to say anything so I continued like I had no clue what happened, but I told another long term guest later(approx.1-2wk later) They figuered out I knew and kicked me out.
- kevin (8/5): - I stayed in one of the cabins behind motel. Was nice enough and clean. Had a fireplace. Although motel is listed as less than 2 Km from airport (which is technically true) it is still a $15 cab ride and I think it was about an 8 Km drive to the airport. 3 Km to nearest...anything. So decent place for money, just not a great location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room had a weird smell. The "breakfast" included was only coffee and muffins when rhe office was open at 9am. Very disappointing when you choose a place for the breakfast included and it's not real.
- Paul (2/5): Horrible motel - Frankly I can't believe Hotels.com would point us to this hotel. It was awful. First they gave us a room with a double bed and told us it was a Queen. I would have left then but I had prepaid (something I'll never do again). The next room they said had 2 Queen, actually 2 doubles). then we noticed a musty, mildew odour and we had to go buy air freshener to spray the carpet.. Then I noticed a hole in the wall, baseboard heaters falling apart, dirt in the bathroom, I window that looked like it had mould. Check out these photos if you don't believe that. Also continental breakfast was a container of muffins in the office. It was a nightmare. I feel we should get our money back for this horrible stay.
- Quest756589 (10/5): Home away from home - I really do love this place, and I'll surely recommend it to anyone. Great management, wonderful people (they will attend to you with a lot of respect no matter your colour. I believe there was a misunderstanding with the other review that says otherwise), very clean environment, lovely muffins, great hot coffee. I used their fax and printer too.
The owner, Michael is one of the nicest people I've ever met.
- John (6/5): Decent Value - Very clean and fresh looking rooms. Decent value. Advertised as breakfast included. Disappointed. Was a continental breakfast at best and small at that.
- mhahmed_ca (2/5): Pathological lying - I stopped by the hotel to ask for any rooms available, they said no. Then a friend of mine called and they told her yes they had rooms. I called them and asked them why they said no, they claimed that I have never stopped by the hotel !! I stopped again and they said yes I stooped but there was a cancellation. It seems that they don't rent their rooms to people from some races, religious, color, gender, visible minorities, etc.
- MichiganMadmoose (6/5): Pleasant sight after a very long drive. - Bed was comfortable, room was clean. Good for an over night stay. Towels were stiff, like when you dry them on a clothesline. Desk clerk was friendly.
We paid $109.00+ tax for a queen bed. Not bad for a room in the Ottawa area.
- Luc (8/5): hôtel et bien situer facile de ce déplacer - facile de déplacement, tranquille de beaux petit cabinet séparer de hôtel semi campagne
- Larrylr123 (8/5): Great Night sleep - After 8 hours driving a good sleep is important. I had the option of a room or 1 of the cabins for $10 more. I chose the cabin.
The cabin was small and needs a little updating on its microwave but to be honest who cares. The room was so quiet and with thick curtains very dark. It has a large size flat-screen and a very comfortable bed with harder pillows which I like.
It met the important factors. Clean, comfortable and quiet.
There is free coffee and muffins in the office for breakfast. A little added bonus.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice to stay but you need breakfast - One floor building located near to road, it serves muffin and coffee only for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed in a little cabin behind the motel. Very cozy and private.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - One night near airport as needed. Clean, older, very adequate
- Oshawapilot (10/5): Great location, great cabins, & BBQ's were handy. - Get a cabin! We enjoyed ours - very clean, comfortable, and overall a unique and cozy experience with all the essentials including a large wall mounted LCD TV with Cable. We stayed 2 nights while visiting Ottawa with friends. BBQ's were available and we enjoyed cooking some of our own meals for the group instead of spending a fortune eating out constantly. Pool was clean, clear, and looked inviting, however the weather was a bit chilly so we never got an opportunity to enjoy it. Hot coffee and tasty & fresh muffins were available in the office during the breakfast hours.
The grounds could use some more maintenance. Grass was long and a few areas of the buildings showed lack of care/upkeep. Overall neither impacted our stay but could reflect badly for some picky travellers.
- Brian (8/5): Comfortable room for a one night stay - The outside of the motel is somewhat rundown, which could put people off booking... however the room itself was well appointed and clean, comfortable beds, flat panel tv, a small fridge and microwave.
The only thing I wished we had was a luggage support stand for our suitcase.
It was hot outside.... The room air-conditioner cooled the room but was fairly noisy when it kicked into cooling mode... it woke me up multiple times through the night.
The continental breakfast consists of a tasty muffin and coffee or tea.... when we compare that to other motels, that falls quite short of what continental breakfasts consist of... there should have been some protein available so that we're not running on a sugar-high!
- rykg2015 (8/5): Our Second Stay as Good as the First - This is a great little motel on the outskirts of Ottawa. A mostly quiet location with a road in front and nature on the other three sides. Rooms are super clean and the beds are very comfortable. Love the pool! Very affordable. Nice front office staff. Our favourite place to stay when we're in the Ottawa area during the summer.
- LorraineM204 (8/5): Older but very nice and clean - We found our stay very enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. It is an older Motel and Michael the owner is doing many upgrades. The owner and staff were very accomadating and pleasant. We would definitely stay there again.
- wendylynn2016 (4/5): Very disappointing - We rented a cabin and asked to be moved to another because there was an awful smell. The new cabin was very dirty. We were there just to relax and have a swim. We should have been told the pool wasn't in operation. The only good thing is that the people working there were very nice.
- Per (10/5): - Nice, clean and quiet. The perfect place for a family. Very helpful and kind staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient and helpful staff, value for money - We needed lots of ice for after surgery. The staff was very helpful to make us comfortable. The basic needs were all there except for coffee maker. They had muffin and coffee at the front desk for breakfast but office opens at 8 am. The room was clean. The location near the airport was convenient and it was not congested to get out of Ottawa.
- X7353DOmarks (8/5): Ottawa's secret gem - Nice room with a comfy bed. The motel is relaxing as it has lovely private cabins which include a fire place. You do feel like you are getting away from it all. Good price point and friendly staff. I would recommend it to anyone.
- barry (10/5): - A pleasnat location with easy access from hwy 401 and new tothe airport and southern Ottawa.
- samanthacI2372FF (10/5): Rented the cabin! - Whether you're stopping for a quick rest or looking to stay a while....this is a Great place! Has Great service! And I strongly recommend this little gem! Comfort met, privacy met. Will most certainly be going back!
Clean, tidy, quiet and it's just outside the hectic city life, has nature surrounding you instead of city lights! Just loved it.
- stinkyjinky (8/5): for an older place, you will be surprised - in town for a convention, pleasantly surprised for an older motel
- Verified traveler (6/5): April 1st, 2016 - The room was tidy and clean. Shower had barely any pressure and no hair dryer in the room. Only 2 towels were provided. Staff were very friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): loved fireplace!great atmosphere! - arrived late but staff very accommodating
clean comfortable
? board covering ??former window- looked unfinished
bed very comfortable
bathroom clean/lots of towels
- Douglas (4/5): - Coffee an muffins served after 8am which was too late for my breakfast. Poor information available about restaurants open for breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic room for the price - Room was clean but no basics that your used to. Microwave was very old and probably not safe to use. Tub was stained but clean. No coffee maker for hot water unless you go to office and only between 8-11 each morning
No recycling.
Located right beside busy road therefore noisy
- 439wards (4/5): At a loss - The ONLY reason I'm giving this "poor" instead of "terrible" is because of the staff. The 2 ladies at the front desk were incredibly nice, personable and helpful.
Other than that, this is easily the most disgusting room that I've ever been in. The bathtub and toilet bowl were stained pretty badly. There was a large (1ft x 1ft stain, approx.).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great for the price - The room is pretty cozy and warm, with high speed Internet.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Suitable for a quick stay near Fallowfield Station - The location of this hotel is amazing because it's a 10-minute cab drive from fallowfield station which was very convenient for me because I had something to do near the station, and I got off at Fallowfield instead of Ottawa's central station.
The receptionist was very nice and friendly.
However, I regret to say that the room is not worth $100 a night. The bathroom is the worst part, the toilet seat was peeling, the towels are old and worn out and the room facilities are so old. I was there for one night and I am glad I did not have to stay longer. The fridge was not working. And the "breakfast included" part was tricky because it was muffins, coffee and tea and only after 9am. It was very expensive for what it is.
- MOONYANG (2/5): The worst hotel ever in my whole life. - It was the worst hotel I've been in my life. The bathroom was very dirty and not even cleaned up, however, the toilet smells disgusting.
The hotel said they will provide breakfast to guest, but they just provide only one kind of muffine without giving any serve dishes or plastic forks, or plastic knifes. In the room, whole spots wasn't clean up, therefore, they do have lots of dusts on. This hotel was the worst hotel, it is just insulting customers, rather go different place with this price. I do not suggest to go this hotel so don't even think about going this hotel when the room is cheap because it is not worth it at all. Don't waste your money on here and don't get insult moments with this hotel.
- Rich671 (10/5): Great Motel, Perfect for short or long stays!! - I Drove in from Utah, do to work. I stayed here in a cabin for 3 weeks. it was a great stay, very clean room. House keeping kept my room clean daily, fresh towels and clean beds. great WiFi. Michael and his staff were awesome. It was a home away from home. I highly recommend this place to anyone. Driving distance from everything.
I would stay here again if i make it back up from the U.S. again.
- preciousb532 (10/5): Go for the Cabins! - I have been here many times with my husband. We loved every minute of the cabins. They are secluded for everyone else. Once we had the cabin with the fireplace. Nice. You can also use the BBQ that is always near one of the cabins.
- Sherri (10/5): Great little place to stay. - Stayed in cabin 15. Very cozy and room was clean. Bed is very confortable and awesome pillows. Staff are friendly and accomodating. I would definately stay here again. No desk but excellent wi-fi reception.
- Greg (6/5): Ok hotel not too far from the airport. - Hotel staff are great. Room was clean. We're very accommodating. Ordered me a cab for next day. They emailed and called me just to let me know that there is no one at the front desk 1am to 8 am. Not a bad place. One thing though. It might have been cause the hot water was not used for a bit, but needed to run the hot water in the shower for about 5-10 mins to get rid of the old boiler smell.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. A bit out of the way. Quiet, nice staff. Good, low cost. If you need a place in the area, go.
- Lesley (8/5): Loved the cabin - Outside Ottawa but only half hour drive to city. Nothing close by for food. Airport close but not too noisy. Main road but not too noisy. Good coffee and muffins offered for breakfast.
We loved the cabin was quaint, clean, and although quite small we liked it.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Handy to everythingfriendly - Fine no problems, easy to reach eating places, staff friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): Doesn't look it, but a nice stay - Beds are nice, wifi good. coffee is so-so, and continental breakfast is a muffin. As long as you are aware of that, alls well. Going back again that for sure.
- J (8/5): Cosy cabin in the city. - Convenient location to attend event in Nepean with easy access to downtown core via scenic Prince of Wales Drive.
Cabin #14 was quaint with interior wood siding and gas fireplace. Bathroom fixtures could use updating but very clean with large shower stall. Excellent water pressure and loads of hot water.
Very comfy mattress and pillow. Sheets were crisp and clean.
Staff were welcoming and efficient with check in and out. Very fast response to gas fireplace heat control issues.
Restaurants and shopping within vicinity but not accessible by walking.
- froggerann (8/5): Great spot to rest! - Stayed here for one night, the accommodations were good. The room was a little on the small side. Shopping bags and overnight bags took up a lot of space but the bonus was having a fridge and good internet. There are a few things in the room that needed some attention but would not be a huge issue to most.
- CorpsofDiscovery (8/5): Very nice independent motel - We booked this motel in advance for a holiday weekend night. The rate was OK considering the timing. The clerk at check-in was very friendly and efficient. We could park at our door, making it convenient to bring luggage in. The door locked only with the deadbolt.. The room itself was pretty small, and is proportioned in a very unfortunate way that makes much of the open space unusable for placing suitcases, cooler, etc. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, and there were pillow-top mattresses on the beds. Plenty of bright light fixtures, but the thin curtains let in a lot of light from the parking lot at night when we didn't want it.
The bathroom had almost no counter space. Water pressure and temperature were good, but it took a while for hot water to arrive in the morning. Towels were good.
They serve muffins and coffee in the morning, which we skipped.
For a small motel they met or exceeded expectations in every category. I would not hesitate to return.
- Margaretha (6/5): Ok for an overnight stay - It was pleasant small room not much seating but for the cost well done
- James (6/5): don't drink the water - all good except the cabin had well water that had sulphur water.
Not the way to wake up and brush your teeth.
- travel963 (8/5): Affordable alternative to city hotels - Pros:
Convenience of an old-fashioned motel—no stairs or halls.
Clean. Windows open front and back and in bathroom.
Everything worked, well-maintained room. Mini-frig included and microwave. Our room had two queen beds.
Good price.
No password needed for free wifi, and pretty good speed at 5.5 Mbps.
Cons:
No free breakfast like most Mom and Pop motels, but coffee and good muffins were offered in the stand-up lobby. Tim Horton is nearby.
Room a bit small, no luggage rack and no room for one.
No AC in room, only heat.
Parking lot not swept in a while. A big shredded hole in a bath towel.
A bit out of town, and streets crowded here, slow traffic.
- James (6/5): Ottawa Airport Area Hotel - Very convenient from Fallowfield Train Station and Ottawa International Airport. Comfortable and Reasonable cost. Black Rapids Dam & Lock close by and a nice place to visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great getaway - enjoyed the cabin!
- Donna (10/5): - Staff were pleasant, friendly. The "room" was a private cabin, with vaulted ceilings and finished with tongue-in-groove wood interior. I did notice some dirt on the threshold inside the bathroom. Room was comfortable, AC, fridge, worked well. Did not try the fireplace due hot weather. We arrived too late and left too early to try out the pool. I would stay here again, possibly for more than one night. Good value for the money. There was some traffic noise but surprisingly little noise from the several aircraft flying by.
- L&D (8/5): nice and cozy - Do not let the outside fool you, very nice people to deal with, very appreciative. Every night new animal made out of towels waiting for you on the bed (the only time I ever had this was on a cruise). The only I was really missing was a bar of soap and maybe something in the bathroom to put you're toiletries on.
- rykg2015 (8/5): What a Great Little Motel! - This was such a find. We stay often in Ottawa and were getting tired of hotels in the city. This one is in a wonderful country setting (there is the occasional jet taking off from the airport, but they're not too noisy) and still close to so much in the Ottawa area. For an older motel, it's been very well taken care of. Our room was spotless, with a huge LED TV, a good-sized refrigerator, modern microwave, and very comfortable beds and pillows. The pool was crystal clear and so cooling on a hot and humid summer day. Everyone we met there, whether staff or fellow travellers, was pleasant, talkative, and very friendly. We'll definitely be staying here again!
- sargou33 (8/5): Really Great Deal! - One of the only hotels I could find that had an outdoor pool (since it's middle of summer and blazing hot) and wasn't $200. We got one of the one-room cabins - which was small yet clean and comfortable (especially the pillows!). There's a bit of a continental breakfast included, and the pool was fantastically perfect on the hottest day of the summer. There were some small, annoying bits - like there were two outlets by the bed that didn't work, so we couldn't plug in the computer or phone close to the bed, the internet was very slow and there is quite a bit of car noise (it's on a busy road) and airplane noise (it's right near the airport) - but this isn't the Hilton folks. Wear earplugs and plug your devices in across the room. I'd totally stay here again.
- Beth (4/5): Keep in mind this motel is in the country - The motel staff were very nice and accommodating. However, we did end up checking out about 2hrs after arriving due to finding a moderately large sliver bug skittering across the sheets when the covers were pulled back. I killed it, and showed it to the staff in the front office, and informed her that we would be leaving, and she immediately gave us a full refund and an apology.
- Lynda (10/5): Don't miss out! - I just love the Travellers Haven Motel. The owner is a fantastic and generous person. He cares very much about his customers. The staff works very hard to please. They are so friendly and accommodating. The cabin is the place I like the best. It has everything you would need for a night's stay. The cabin I stayed in this time was the one of the cabins with the kitchenette. Everything is clean. There is a bbq if anyone wishes to use it. There is the swimming pool also. All I have to say is positive. This is not the first time that I stay here with my husband. I will return for sure. Oops, I must note forget about the coffee and muffins in the morning. Also I should mention the motel is close to anything that you wish to do or visit. I must admit that I did a bit of shopping. Everything is close by.
- Diane (10/5): - Lovely little cottages. Clean, friendly service. Remember to let them know if you are going to check out early to make arrangements where to leave your key. Office is closed from 11 p.m. - 9 a.m.
- Stephen (6/5): - Surprisingly quiet and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value for the price - Enjoy the clean cabin in the woods by the Rideau River.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Hotel. - Hotel Staff was very friendly. The electrical was kinda bad. We blow the breaker 4 times just from using a blow dryer. The room was nice and clean. They have hard water which we didn't know about. The a/c and fan were extremely noisy when we used them. All in all it was a Good Hotel to stay at.
- Bodo (4/5): Tiny Motel - Ottawa was booked out solid. This was the only hotel which I could find. Fortunately we only stayed for 1 night. The room was tiny, had to step outside to change our minds...lol
On the positive side, the room and bedding were clean. However the queen size bed mattress was in pretty bad shape.
Over all, the place is not worth $100.00/night!
- Barry (6/5): reasonable stay - OK
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, clean - 2 day, nice stay, clean, next to road but did not bother me, tim Horton down road 2ks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): nice hotel staff very pleasant and helpful - I was from out of town and the staff where understanding and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Trave - Leisure stay in lieu of an RV park. Excellent location.
- Louis (8/5): Nice place to stay - Room very clean and comfortable. Staff very nice and friendly.
Hotel close to Ottawa
- Sharon (8/5): Nice clean motel - The room was a little crowded with two beds in it, would of been better with one queen size bed. The bathroom lighting was not bright enough for doing makeup other then that it was clean and nice. Will stay there again.
- mark (6/5): Ok facility - the staff were very friendly... you get what you pay for and in this case it wasn't bad at all.... not for your 4 or 5 star rating traveler but for the average joe looking for a decent room at a not bad price then this works.
- John (10/5): Older motel, new insides - An older motel with new beds and carpets, and a giant TV! Great value for money.
