Guest Reviews
- Rodney (8/5): Little big town - The lodge was very nice, deco friendly. The room was nice. The restaraunt was we equipped to handle a large group. Plenty of options to find something to do. A lot of history in this area. Well worth the visit.
- kylie (6/5): Here for a party - Place is nice, sevice was great. Rooms need updating.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Gorgeous scenery and magnificent CCC buildings. The Lodge is unique and beautiful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place. The only problem is you can get the one in hand and then you have a good day of work so I will have it on your computer when I can come over to my office to see you and I have to work tomorrow and then I can run to the church tomorrow to see you and then I can come over to you get a couple things I can.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a beautiful view of Illinois river. The Lodge was beautiful, room comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. Very close to Grafton area bars and restaurants. My on complaint, most hotels have small refrigerators and a microwave. We were there a couple of days and had leftovers from dinner one night. Couldn't warm them up later?
- James (4/5): Clarification upon check in - We stayed a few months ago and fell in love with the restaurant and extra large hot tub. We booked a room to enjoy them both again but both were closed. We spent an hour round trip to get food over it and sat in room watching some rerun because the hot tub was down. Very disappointed
- Claralyn (10/5): Wonderful Pere Marquette - Beautiful lodge and guest rooms! Pool looked great too. Fun location that’s close to Grafton and Alton. Many relaxing hiking trails.
- Donald (10/5): Great escape - Great get away. Covid restrictions caused some minor inconveniences. The dining room and hot tub were closed. We were able to take food into the lodge great room.
- Tammie R (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Restaurant had very good food but due to COVID you could only pick it up and take it to your room. They automatically added an 18% gratuity, which seems odd for carry out
- Verified traveler (10/5): Historic Lodge at everyday price. - Like being at one of the Great Lodges in the West, but right here in the midwest. Loved staying in one of the cabins built by the
CCC.
- Jill C (10/5): - Cottage was very cute. Lodge area very comforting and relaxing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was fine. Looks like it is great for families. Iwas not there long enough to take advanyage of amenities
- Mark (10/5): - Great rustic getaway. Lodge is very modern and clean. Great pool and hot tub! Wonderful setting.
- Brett (10/5): Peaceful Cabin - We had some noisy kids running in the hallway right after we checked in and the desk clerk graciously provided us with another room which we really enjoyed… One of the cabins. So grateful, it really made our trip wonderful – can’t wait to come back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice rooms and nice restaurant. Lovely place to take a walk or hang out in lobby. Nice pool.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room Size we received was less than 1/2 of the picture portrayed as the one we chose. And did not have the furniture depicted that we wanted. When we asked about it they said because we booked through a third party, that was what we got, they save their nicer and bigger rooms for those who book directly from them.
- Shona (10/5): - This was the perfect retreat for relaxation. The Lodge is a beautiful warm and cozy place. We enjoyed the warmth and welcoming fireplace, the games in the main lobby, the pool, and the beautiful river view from our room! The breakfast was delicious! We took a challenging and scenic hike after breakfast, then enjoyed the new Grafton skyway tram to the Local winery. It was such a quaint and wonderful stay!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great setting. Room keys kept getting de-magnetized. Had to go back to restore them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - .History and geography. Rustic charm Opportunities to enjoy respite.
- Margaret (10/5): Wedding stay - Nice place for summer/fall stay.
- VALERIE V. (10/5): Illinois State Parks are hidden gems! - Lovely & Serene.
- Christopher (8/5): - Except for the idiot who decided to smoke in their room and set off the smoke alarm at 4 A.M. our stay was pleasant. The staff were attentive and
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I paid good money for a room not clean. Cobwebs, hair from previous person in shower. Disgusting. Bed had stains.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is beautifully set in a State Park. Lots of outdoor activities to keep you busy for days. The lodge was fantastic as well. Checkers, chess, connect four, cards, and lots more games to keep you busy. The pool and hot tub were very clean and lots of fun. The restaurant has A-MAZING fried chicken. Seriously, don't we at anything else.
The winery is wonderful as well. We took a few bottles home after doing a full tasting of their offerings. The woman who served us the wine was knowledgeable, polite, and lots of fun.
Overall, what a great retreat. Pro tip: bring snacks as there are no convenience stores close by. Also bring good hiking shoes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. The inner lobby is a fun place to people-watch and play board games inside what looks like The Great Hall of some castle.
I would suggest hooks on the inside of the bathroom door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice large room it was clean and the property was well maintained and staff was excellent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Repeated I was in Rm. 216 and wanted a 6:30 morning wake-up. Never got it. Late start impacted drive back to Chicago. Only ripple in the 2 day stay.
- JaQuita (2/5): - We arrived at about 9:30pm the restaurant closed at 10p it was a hour drive back for food do I canceled I still haven’t received my money back they said they would refund me one night bc it was a no show but I did show I have documentation to prove it
- Michele (8/5): Very nice!! - Nice rooms, staff is very friendly. Nice peaceful area. Needs a bit of updating but overall still very good. Clean!! Bed was comfortable! We are planning on returning soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great overnight stau - Wonderful place, very quite and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hotel and restaurant were great.
- Randall (10/5): Cabin stay - Amazing! This was our third year staying in the cabins. The kids loved it!
- Eric (8/5): - It was a very nice place to stay and the staff was great nice work👍💯
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a great time. A really fun place to stay and relax.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This place has potential to be so much more. Its certainly showing its age. Its so dark inside. Could use some brightening up. Overall, just ok
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice place to stay. Could use more ice machines and benches outside of cabins but everything else was wonderful.
- Samuel (10/5): - The flooding was just receding but had a great time. Nice facility.
- Gregory (10/5): Classic Lodge wonderful. - Beautiful classic Lodge. Perfect except for flooding in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - So many things to do ! Swim, hot tub, full size chess, winery....kids had a blast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cabins are nice to stay in and great hiking around there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My husband and I always enjoy coming to Pere Marquette Lodge and staying the weekend. The trails and the park are so beautiful and well maintained. The great room and the patio at the lodge are both so relaxing! The rooms are always clean and the staff are always friendly and willing to help with anything! The restaurant is always clean and put together well. The food is yummy! I recommend the Berry Patch for dessert.
- Kadie (10/5): Neat get a way! - Place was super neat and wish we had more time to look around! Very clean. Room was a little chilly. They didn’t have the computers working in the restaurant but they had a buffet set out and it was good. Waiter was nice a very apologetic for the computer issues but it was no problem at all!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Lodge area was flooded. Would require extra 2 hrs to get there. Did not check in.
- Jeong (8/5): Great views and very nostalgic - Happy to stay at a historic lodge. Very rustic and well maintained inside and outside. We started at a cabin which had a bunk bed and king bed with a pullout sofa. The pullout sofa was unusable due to poking springs and a thin mattress. Bathroom was small and crammed. The porch light was off when we arrived around 8pm and had difficulty inserting a key to open the door and unable to find a way turn it on. Breakfast buffet includes bacons, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, cupcakes, pastries, and fruits. Drinks are extra. 7.99 for adults and 4.99 for kids under 12. Great views from the lodge and good trails behind the lodge. Spring from May and fall would be the best time to visit.
- Julie (10/5): - What a great weekend get away my husband I got to experience at Pere Marquette Lodge. The room was clean and quiet and we enjoyed the pool and spa. The menu at the restaurant on site could stand to be updated but we did enjoy our meals. The staff was attentive and friendly.
- Judy (10/5): Great lodge get away. - Very nice get away for my husband and I. The room was nice and dinner was great in the great lodge dining room. Excellent fried chicken. The lodge has an enormous fireplace to sit by. You can get a river facing room too.
- Meschelle (8/5): We might return - So many positive things about this Lodge..The building itself, lobby, and restaurant very nice..The room was just meh...First room didn't have a working heater...and it was cold..in the teens..we were moved to another room...but downgraded to smaller bed..not comfortable for us...and housekeepers need to pay closer attention..hairs in bathroom floor...on toilet seat..yuk...and a toenail on carpeting by bed..lamps didn't work..only 1 bedside table..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place to stay. Very nice, clean & staff was excellent
- Kathleen (10/5): Comfortable & beautiful - Our room was quiet and the bed very comfortable. Will definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful resort like feel. Love the pool/hot tub/ sauna & the restraunt is very nice & food is excellent! Our goto place for a quick relaxing getaway
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pere Marquette is a lovely get away location. We enjoyed the lobby, played games, swam in the pool, and dined in the restaurant.
- Rod (8/5): - Everything was great except the pool heater was broken and the water temp was 72 degrees
- Martha Diane (6/5): Great place to stay but not to eat - The renovations to the common hallways and lodge rooms is true to the historical nature of the lodge. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms have been upgraded. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The drawback was the restaurant which had always been excellent in the past. A busy weekend had left them short of many menu items, even basic ones, but that wasn't the problem. The food was of poor quality and poorly prepared. Though the steak was actually medium rare, it was 1/2 thick and so gristly it was difficult to cut. The breading on the fried fish was more than twice the volume of the fish and rather greasy. The salad dressing was watery and lacked flavor. Fortunately nearby Grafton has a lot of good restaurants, breweries and wineries.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Loved the Stay at Pere Marquette - Really beautiful area with lots to do. Be sure to take the ferry across the river and to visit the nearby Village of Elsah. Pere Marquette is lovely...a beautiful setting and much fun for a family.
- Brenda (8/5): - Our room was nice size and comfortable. The area was quiet and a great place to relax. The views were beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Both days in the morning at our conference there the staff was late putting out coffee. My bathroom had dirty spots on wall above tissue holder, which I saw immediately; else everything was very clean and nice
- Alice (8/5): - Beautiful setting. We picked the perfect time to go.
- Evan (8/5): Good - Good
- Aaron (10/5): 1 day staycation - Stayed in one of the cabins - nice clean room. Our boys had a twin bunk bed, parents the king bed. Lodge was excellent, swimming pool was excellent. Breakfast buffet (not free) was a little lacking - advise to order breakfast from menu. Dinner in the same lodge restaurant was awesome (get the family style chicken dinner). Overall feel was laid back and secluded vs standard hotels.
- Nicole (6/5): Old but decent - Soft towels, comfortable bed, room was in need of a renovation bad, but overall not a bad stay. Pool was nice, but only 1 ice maker that was half broken and no elevator on the side of the lodge that we stayed on, which made my 35 year old knees ache after climbing the stairs for two days. The price was great though, so I’d do it again.
- Rhonda (8/5): - I had high expectations for the restaurant and was left underwhelmed.
- MERCEY (10/5): FABULOUS! FAMILY OR COUPLES, OR ANYTHING! - This lodge has rooms equipped for a couple all the way up to a family with kids. It is situated on the GORGEOUS surroundings of Grafton, IL with stunning views of the Mississippi. The cabins are stone and wood and are decorated beautifully. We stayed with our 3 kids and plan to come back for a couple's weekend.
- L (8/5): - Rustic. Not as clean as I had hoped. A fridge and microwave would have been a nice amenity. Overall, liked the experience. Needs outside chairs at the cabins.
- john (8/5): - nice bike trails and hiking trails dababababababababa
- Paul (10/5): - We stayed in the "historic" wing. Room was nice, the only concern we had was the carpet felt sticky when you walked across it in bare feet. Other than that, everything was great.
- Caitlin (6/5): - It was rustic and had stuff to do. The wifi was not good.
- Debbie (8/5): Nice big rustic hotel - We stayed 2 nights and had a good time. Staff was great and it is so beautiful inside and out. It has history and that’s great. We’ll be back for sure!
- Rebecca (6/5): An overnight stay - Our trip was ok. Cabins were old furniture was old but enjoyed our time
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Limited view of the river view in our riv review room.
- Char (8/5): - We loved the lodge. The large open room where the fireplace is was a great place to sit and relax! Loved that they had some board games too! The huge windows overlooking the river created a very peaceful atmosphere. Sitting in the large chairs by the fireplace was great!!!
- ronald (10/5): Wonderful views - Stsyed in room overlooking the river. Great trails to walk and restaurant has excellent food
- Sheila (10/5): Everything Within Reach - Great view, awesome Great Room, Wonderful Wine shop. The food was great as well as the staff. Room was clean. We stayed during off season and while we didn't see any Eagles, it was not crowded, traffic was great. We loved this Lodge!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place for a weekend hiking getaway. Good food great atmosphere.
- joseph (10/5): Stay again - Great place. Pool great activities and trails all good. No cell phone coverage which for us is great.
- K (10/5): - Wonderful trip...all enjoyed very much. A perfect getaway.
- MS. J (10/5): As usual, an enjoyable stay - We once again enjoyed our stay. The weather was cool and rainy so it was a good time to sit in the Great Room in front of the fireplace. Food was very good and we had some fun at the winery.
