Guest Reviews
- Katrin (10/5): - Sehr gute Lage, unkompliziert und frische Früchte zum Frühstück.
- Deborah (10/5): Lovely Inn! - We have previously stayed here and loved it. Whenever we come to Marblehead we always stay here. Nothing. Everyone was friendly and the accommodations are unique and comfortable.
- Dean (8/5): -
- lynh622 (10/5): Great experience - Room was very quaint. Great bathroom, water pressure in all the shower was great
Very friendly host. Small breakfast is above and beyond
- Jennifer (10/5): Love it there - Great simple Just a heads up fridge in room 9 freezes everting but I love the place it’s happened twice but so cozy
- Adventure57904006279 (10/5): Perfect over night stay - Location perfect for downtown Marblehead, 15 minute walk. Rooms and hotel were very clean. Breakfast was great and staff were incredibly hospitable, helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
- Carey (9/5): -
- Cindy (1/5): Never had the chance as the hotel gave our reservation away to somebody else forcing us to scramble. - No chance given to experience the hotel The hotel gave our reservation away to somebody else AFTER receiving the down payment. We found this unprofessional and poor business practice. The hotel made no effort to find an alternative. We were left to scramble.
- Moreland (10/5): - the location was convenient to Salem. the hotel was adorable. Debbie was friendly and helpful. the bed was so comfortable. the breakfast was small but perfect the best coffee. I would definitely stay there again.
- Lori (10/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Nice staff - Location Not a thing
- leegK3226WC (10/5): Would stay here again!! - We loved this hotel. It's small, intimate, and quiet. The room was perfect: very comfortable bed, the sheets were so soft, nice quality towels, a bathrobe to use, plus a mini fridge which was handy. The light breakfast was just right: I had the yogurt with granola and a nice sized dish of mixed fruit plus coffee. There was also juice, muffins, and oatmeal available. We would definitely stay here again!!
- Zirkle (10/5): Excellent. - Understandable for the limited breakfast options. Support local by promoting a local breakfast place!
- Katie (8/5): - Quiet, neat, updated and clean Staff not outgoing, didn’t really speak to us.
- Susan (10/5): -
- William (10/5): -
- Diane (9/5): Adorable hotel just minutes from Salem - Great location, plenty of parking and the continental breakfast was perfect. Nothing! The room was good, loved the bed and pillows and the staff provided good communication
- Nanne (8/5): Convient and friendly place. - Well located for my meetings — a convenient choice if you have commitments in the area. Friendly staff and a lovely breakfast with fresh fruit salad and croissants.
- H9308QVjenniferr (10/5): Great trip! - The hotel is adorable and in a fantastic location. It was about a 15 minute ride to Salem about 30 -35 minutes to Boston. Marblehead its self is absolutely adorable and the inn is close to the downtown and cute shops, restaurants and bars. We had an amazing time!
- Paige Enderle (she/her) (9/5): Sweetest Dreams in Marblehead - What absolutely phenomenal bedding! It smelled like sweet dreams and was powder soft. WOW!
The breakfast was an utter delight of fruit and yogurt parfaits, delicious breads, and all the tasty coffee one could desire.
And if you want a phenomenal dinner, drive down to 5 Corners Kitchen. Literal chef's kiss. I was sorry to leave!
Our sink was a size fit for a polite rabbit, but it was charming rather than challenging.
I can't do it, I can't say anything negative! It was a lovely, too short stay.
- Sarah (8/5): -
- schmittmarybeth (10/5): Comfortable night’s sleep - We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this lovely bed & breakfast!
One day easy rail from Salem into Boston to walk the Freedom Trail. Second day spent touring Salem (mid-week) allowed us to avoid the crowds. Comfortable bed and clean room with Roku access to enjoy some TV unwind time on a rainy morning. Welcoming staff and delicious healthy choice foods for breakfast.
- Scott (10/5): Beautiful building with bucolic surroundings! - Charming historic building, comfortable beds and a good continental breakfast.
Wonderful accommodating staff. It was everything we expected it to be. Lovely.
- Mary (10/5): -
- Mary (10/5): Our stay at the Marblehead Inn was truly outstanding ! - Very clean and close to Salem. We loved everything!!!
- Rhoda (10/5): - Very good breakfast. Very quaint with relaxing surroundings.
- Vanessa (8/5): - We stayed for one night after exploring Salem. After hours check-in was easy. Convenient parking. Rooms were well appointed and comfy bed. Wonderful dining just down the road—highly recommend the Elia Taverna for dinner.
- Mario (4/5): - Staff was decent, the hotel was supposed to do light housekeeping and no housekeeping was provided during the whole trip. I had to make my own bed every day and throw my own trash away also due to the room not having a trash can in the room. Only had a small trash can in the bathroom, the room was also poorly decorated and the fridge was on the floor and not even on a stand.
- Michelle (10/5): - Front desk was very friendly and the breakfast was lovely.
- jdmcchurchm2015 (10/5): New England's Best - What a greatnplace to stay. Friendly, convenient, quiet and unique. Very accommodating. Central to activities in the area.
- Anna (4/5): - We arrived early to explore Salem but no one was at the front desk, so we quietly used the lobby restroom to freshen up. We were whispering and careful with our luggage when an employee came out, didn’t greet us, I asked about checking in and said with an attitude, “We’re not even open yet, it’s way too early,” before walking away. Another guest came out complaining and began talking about us with the employee as if we weren’t there, which made us feel unwelcome from the start.
Their check-in window is only 4–6 p.m., and no one is on-site overnight. The only reason we entered that morning was because another guest left the door unlocked, which normally requires a code. When I asked about luggage storage since we’d return after hours, I was told it would be kept behind the desk and placed in our room later, with the key left in an envelope — not secure. When we came back, our luggage was sitting in the lobby with a sticky note and our room number. Luckily, nothing was missing.
The next day, two new employees were much kinder. Later, we were told maintenance needed to fix our toilet, but afterward it worked worse, and with no staff around, we had to use the lobby restroom. The beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, and the location was close to Salem, but the poor hospitality, lack of security, and limited hours made us feel uneasy. If staff were more welcoming and procedures safer, our stay could’ve been much better.
- Jgmac85_ (10/5): Hotel Marblehead - Very cool place to stay. Marblehead town is a bit of a walk, but definitely worth it! The employees were very nice. Loved it!
- Janice (10/5): - It was nice
- 906jaceyt (10/5): Friendly staff, super cute building with great history. - We really loved our stay here. It was a great experience. The building was clean, the staff were friendly, and we will definitely be back!
- David (8/5): - Debbie, the manager, was outstanding! Light breakfast and parking was good. Since reasonable accommodations, in Marblehead, are hard to come by, this was a good choice aside from thin walls.
- Theresa (8/5): - Staff was very helpful. Strange odor in the room, smelled like orange/menthol. Breakfast was good every day.
- Juan (10/5): - Great Place !!
- Timothy (8/5): -
- Kristen (10/5): - The breakfast was awesome! We would stay here again.
- Chris0120 (8/5): Great Inn But Be Ready For Stairs with your Luggage - Wonderful historic inn in old town Marblehead. Great place to stay for seeing Salem. We stayed in Suite 15; it was clean and as described. Breakfast was a nice continental spread with yogurt, fruit, granola, and muffins as well as fresh coffee. Only downside was there was no elevator or porter so we had to carry our suitcases up 2 flights on stairs. Still a good stay for the 2 nights we were there.
- Christine (8/5): - Great stay at historic inn. Only downside was NO ELEVATOR was not on the description. No porter either, so we had to carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs. Otherwise, good stay in a charming location.
- jorge (9/5): - La casa hermosa El estado del colchón
- Lisa (8/5): - Would consider staying there again. Excellent fresh fruit at breakfast. It would have been nice to have an earlier check in. This was not possible since the property was fully booked the whole weekend.
- Laura (10/5): - Great!
- Katesel (8/5): - Great location, with off street parking. Old home, refurbished. Easy walk to beach. With high price I would expect it to have warmer atmosphere and be a bit less worn out. Furnishings very low end, plastic chairs. Tiny bathroom sink was a joke, annd not a funny one. and spots throughout need touch up.
- Megan (6/5): Great beds- terrible cleanliness and staff - The staff at the property on Wednesday was so rude! The bottom on my white socks were black because of the floors just in our room, if they were black; when was the last time they truly cleaned the room correctly? They say they do daily refreshing of the room, however there was no door sign and they didn’t even touch the room. The bed was comfortable however the cleanliness completely steers me away.
- Amber (10/5): - Lovely place… will share with others and stay again if in the area.
- Christopher (10/5): - Loved our stay.
- Sightsee42550382910 (10/5): Great hotel - Staff was so nice !
Room was spacious, and back yard was awesome . Walking distance from great places to enjoy.
Prices are affordable.
- Aimee (10/5): A+ for Debbie! - Our stay was amazing! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, Debbie was the absolute best! We will be back. ❤️
- Tracy (10/5): - If you like a boutique hotel, this one has all the charm! Would stay here again 100%!
- Pamela (2/5): - The house itself was charming, but our room was absolutely terrible. It appeared to be clean, but the carpet had so many stains. The furniture was cheap and plastic, the room was dingy. There was no hairdryer, breakfast was just some sliced up coffee cake. The air-conditioning unit in the window was not sealed properly and cold air was coming in all night. Not to mention road noise all night long. I wouldn’t not recommend this hotel for the price we paid. It was just horrible!
- Jack (10/5): - Good parking and breakfast
- kennethwH2135EB (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent experience! Easy check in, competent staff. The room was as expected. Quiet. Was everything we wanted it to be.
- Danielle (10/5): - This hotel is large, clean, well taken care of, and the staff are amazing! We slept well and enjoyed the back yard and patio area, and the small plate breakfast was just what we needed to start out day as well!
- Michael (6/5): - We paid at least $450 for a night and the condition of the hotel and room (peeling wall paper, pant peeling, bathroom sink small) didn’t warrant the price. It seemed a lot better in the pictures than in reality.
- hollydM8629SQ (10/5): Charming and modern - Modern charm with updated appointments, colors, and amenities. Easy check in and excellent breakfast! Outdoor areas also available and refreshing.
- Wendy (10/5): Excellent stay! Will definitely come again! - The Hotel Marblehead is beautiful and historic. Loved the proximity to Salem, the very helpful staff and the cleanliness of the hotel.
- Carmen (9/5): Excellent stay! Highly recommend! - The staff was amazing! They were very accommodating and we enjoyed talking with them. Beautiful home and central to many attractions and great restaurants. We had no complaints about the facility or staff. Please note that they do not have elevators.
- Michelle (10/5): - Quiet and lovely property
- Bradley (10/5): -
- Fenton (8/5): - Location, comfort, and the sheets were exceptional!! No elevator. Heavy luggage is hard to manage up and down the stairs.
- ginapU7564KC (4/5): Disappointed and overpriced - The staff was pleasant and the room was very clean with a comfortable bed. My husband and I went for our anniversary and paid over 500$ a night and we feel it was very over priced. Our room was very dated especially the bathroom and the faucet dripped all night. The window unit air conditioner was noisy. It just wasn’t what we expected for the price. I would not go back or recommend this hotel.
- Elaine (8/5): Beautiful BnB and great location - The hotel was very nice and we enjoyed our stay. Close to all activities. The breakfast was ok more like a Continental. The rooms were on the smaller size with not alot of space for chairs, etc. To be expected for the age of the house. Nothing really. It was more on the expensive side but normal for this area
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Julie (6/5): Beautiful but tired hotel - .Beautiful boutique hotel in historic Marblehead has all the makings of a noteworthy stay I really wanted to love this place but the old building is showing its age. Pealing paint above the shower, towel bars barely hanging on the wall and blinds that can’t be raised. I would give it 3.5 stars.
- David (7/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - …
- irene (6/5): - This property is not worth the price at 600$ a night for a king size rm. It has none of the charm you would expect at an older property...Our room was very basic with a random mixture of furnishings and a toilet that ran after flushing. Would not recommend this hotel at these rates.
- I7951SDbradb (10/5): Weekend Wedding Event - Small rooms but very comfortable bed and very clean, quite and peaceful. Outdoor patio area was well taken care of with seating scattered throughout. Will stat here again when in the area.
- 1234TLKS (10/5): Easy and comfortable - Lovely stay …. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Air conditioning worked great. Office staff texted us all pertinent information as we arrived late. We had a delicious bite to eat at The Beacon restaurant which was a very short drive down the street. Nice town, good vibes.
- Peter (8/5): - How very small the wash basin was!
- Amanda (10/5): - It was very cute, clean, and quiet. Perfect for staying out of the way of everyday life.
- Theodore (6/5): - Location! The room was very uncomfortable and not super clean…
- Luc (9/5): -
- Brandy (10/5): - The Hotel Marblehead was a spot we chose to be both close to local beaches as well as the airport. Our stay was short but we were made to feel at home. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. I’m just guessing but this whole area must be a sweet taste of life in coastal Massachusetts.
- Robert (8/5): - A very quaint and pretty property and area. Room was small but comfortable. Amenities could improve such as having hangers for the closet, WiFi info at check-in, and better coffee arrangement for early morning.
- Edwin (7/5): -
- Glen (7/5): - Interesting old home converted to a hotel. Could use new window shades and shower curtain.
- Caitlin (10/5): It was perfect - Everything
- Jean-Pierre (9/5): -
- John (10/5): - the rooms were bright and clean and the property was in easy walking distance to downtown marblehead. There were bikes available to borrow as well.. All in all a great experience
- Tyler (10/5): - Great location and very nice room and bathroom. Will be back for sure
- Michael (10/5): - Great historic building room was very spacious. Everything was very well done and quiet.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (6/5): - The staff was helpful and responsive through texts but in person not very friendly or present. The house was cool but we had a broken rusted shower rod almost unusable sink and the fruit for the very small breakfast was molded.
- Ethan (10/5): Exceptional -
- FoxyMamaSomeday (10/5): - The hospitality was outstanding. We felt right at home. We arrived early and rested in the garden next to the fountain while our room was being prepared. Joe was friendly and so welcoming. The morning coffee and yogurt was a nice treat and Diane was so sweet to hold some in the fridge for our later start. We will definitely come back again!
- Christopher (10/5): - Nicely decorated with friendly staff and a nice complimentary breakfast.
- Peter (10/5): - A peaceful stay
- U9590HWmaggiem (10/5): Great stay! - Comfortable bed and clean room , great location, friendly staff! Easy to walk
To town or beach or harbor. We had a king patio room which was a nice feature. Coffee was also fantastic!
- 182frenchc (10/5): Great hotel! - We enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable and clean. We loved sitting in the backyard which was very relaxing. We would definitely recommend The Hotel Marblehead. It’s close to Salem for a nice day trip. The front desk was also very helpful with suggestions for great restaurants. Thank you!
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- tasiaj2025 (8/5): Great Stay in Marblehead - The bed and pillows were super comfy. I loved the larger set up of the king suite. We did not need the pullout couch, but the something about it was off, the cushions sank into it. Overall the setup of room was great, plenty of space for two people. The small breakfasts were a nice way to start the day. Loved that the beach (and restaurants) were within walking distance. Really enjoyed Marblehead and would love to come back.
- RHONDA (8/5): - Let me start by saying what they did do right. The place is beautiful and very quiet. It was clean. The Views around Marblehead are stunning to drive to.
Our room had a patio that we enjoyed sitting on in the evening. Coffee was right out side our room at any time of the day. However, Check in is at 4 and the staff leaves at 6. I was getting a text at 4:15 to remind me of this. Upon arrival the staff was professional but not friendly. Our room was VERY Small compared to a normal hotel room however the tub was a soaker and very spacious. When we went to bed that night I thought the bed would break when my husband got in and expected it to hit the floor at any moment during the night so it slept horrible and had a huge dip in the center. It was definitely broken, but with staff not on property what do you do? I informed the staff the next morning and they didn't know it was broke. Cleaning staff should have caught that. The breakfast was only yogurt and muffins with glass jars of fresh fruit. So not much to get you through the day on.
I will say that upon leaving they did offer me a discount because of the bed if I ever returned. I don't imagine I will ever be in the area again but at least they offered something.
- Meghan (10/5): - This property was beautiful. It was quiet and clean. I do believe it is more a bed and breakfast than a legitimate hotel. The staff, specifically Deb and Julie were fabulous. They were friendly, helpful, and very welcoming. They truly did everything they could to make our stay great. The few complaints I did have were due to my own misunderstanding of the property description and issues outside of the staff's control, like the couch in our room being ridiculously uncomfortable. The area is safe, quiet, and beautiful. The breakfasts were tasty and fresh, but are all cold like fresh fruit and pastries. There are no elevators, which had I noticed sooner, would have had a larger bearing on my decision to stay here. I would stay again, but not for 7 days, and definitely not on the 3rd floor again. I would recommend this place highly and only would suggest replacing the couch and putting in larger print on each room description that there is no elevator.
- roblG3319ME (10/5): Best hotel in Marblehead. - Absolutely loved it. Great accommodations. Solid. Fresh and healthy breakfast was a delicious surprise. So was the excellent coffee service. Thank you!! Score: a super strong 5 out of 5. Or a 6!!
- pfc302 (8/5): Great place to stay - We stayed here on 2 occasions recently and have to say that on both occasions that it was an excellent place for a stop over. The rooms were very comfortable with good quality beds. For us what really set it out from others was the quality of the breakfasts. They were so nice that it set us up for the day ahead. There is plenty of off street parking. A well run Hotel that is a credit to staff/owners alike. We will return
- Freda (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful hotel. Our room has a patio with table and chairs. Fabulous wetroom and the whole place is beautifully furnished. Exceptional value for money. Nothing
