The place is set back in the woods, which is nice, but make sure you bring fly repellant if you want to sit outdoors.

• 844mistyt (4/5): Sad and frumpy - We stayed here over the weekend. Thankfully only for one night, I personally don't think I could have stayed any longer. I'm only rating this a 2 * and that's Soley on the fact that this place has huge potential, however is definitely not living up to it. First off, when it's this time year and your rolling your luggage to your room, down what I guess what is to be considered to be a 'path' to the cottage, is less than desirable...wet and dirty which you then bring into your cottage and track ALL over the room BC there are no floor mats at either door in the cottage. Paths and walk ways should be noticeable, safe and clean. Then when we opened the door, the entire hall smelt like sewage 😬. The cottages have sooo much potential. Huge rooms, nice bath, little kitchenette. Furniture old and outdated, actually wouldn't surprise me if someone were to get a splinter from the armrest of a chairs in the sitting area...🙄 The leather sofa....swallows you....not comfortable for sitting on what so ever, your pretty much on the floor and it being a sofa bed, I could only imagine what that would have felt like to sleep on. Two double beds in the room, none of which were soft and comfortable. Never slept very well at all. The dining table only had 3 matches chairs, fourth chair was just a random chair. The pool area....whoa....old....out dated not well taken care of. Hot tub was closed and emptied. I've been here in the past to just use the pool and spa services and in the last 8 years or so, this so called spa has seen better days. Front desk service....lacking. being in customer service and wanting the spa vibes....you won't find that here, unfortunately. Lady at desk, is cold and not very approachable. The gentalman who also works the front desk and could very well be the owner was very rude with another guest who's parents asked if they could just go into the the pool room and watch their grand children swim, and were told NO. We don't allow that here....🤔 Then only to see these older grandparents standing OUTSIDE the pool room window watching their grand children swim BC they were not allowed inside to enjoy the company of there family. Breakfast....very basic...coffee, tea, bagels, muffins, cereal kinda deal. If your one for a big hearty breakfast. Not going to suit your needs. I will say that the coffee was very good! The lids for the coffee cups did not fit (only one size cup and lid) we watched four different rooms try and put the lids on these cups and none of us was successful 🤦🏻‍♀️ If your going to book here thinking your going to get the spa vibes, and great quality service, sadly you will not. Like I said, this place can be beautiful, and has a lot going for it, bit is very much lacking on the details

• 575kristal (4/5): Disappointed - Third time to la Vallee and very disappointed to say it is really run down currently. The last time I was there was 6-7 years ago. Sewer smell in the hallway by the cottages. Needs a lot of updates like paint, flooring and in desperate need of TLC. The upside was the spa treatments. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

• kelnb1 (2/5): No Kids Allowed - We stayed here during March Break, March 5, 2020 and it was terrible. We booked a month prior to arriving, stating 2 kids would be with us. When we arrived we were told to keep the kids quiet till after 5pm and during the day between 8am and 5pm. It was March break, it was our get away. How do you keep two well behaved boys under 8 completely quiet while playing in a pool? We tried and kept trying to get them to understand we were told to be quiet but that is unrealistic. Unrealistic to allow someone to book at room at $150/night plus $100 deposit is also taken from your cc in case of damage. (which i don't get as they have your cc on file). So the hotels expectation, when you book with kids, is for them to stay in a VERY small room for the duration of their stay and to be silent. We booked for the pool and area. PLUS if you do not speak French, do not stay here. The evening receptionist only spoke French and we only speak English, not sure why they don't have bilingual people working. And there was a man there, maybe the manager who only spoke French. So there was lack of communication. I would not recommend this place to my friends or family. Its an establishment that likes your money if you want to just stay in the room the whole time. Oh and the TV has limited channels. So just stare at the walls I guess at $150/night. No thank you. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in the service here.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed Romantic Weekend - My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway weekend. Upon arrival we were told we were on the 2nd floor. We had to use the stairs to get to our room, no elevator. Thank goodness I was able to get upstairs, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do. We were given a brief explanation of the breakfast restaurant hours. Upon entering our room, the two wine glass's that were on the table had lipstick marks on the rim of the glass's. The fan vent for heating our room was quite noisey, which caused us to turn the volume up so we could hear the tv. Our breakfast which was included consisted of scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, juice and coffee. The eggs were cold and the sausages were not browned on all sides. As we sat at our table beside the window, dust was very evident on the blinds. We were not impressed!!! On the following morning I decided to have pooriage, yogurt, toast, banana, orange juice and coffee, which I knew would be hot as I made the pooriage myself. Specialty coffee apparently was available to us, but we had no idea that we needed to ask a staff member to make it for us. We were not able to use the spa services as they are not available on Saturday's or Sundays. The hot tub finish was peeling off and not all the jets were working properly. I had to get out of the hot tub every 10 minutes to reset the time, as the time was preset for only 10 minutes. Not too relaxing!!!!

The best part of the stay there is always seeing the owners, Dominic and Natalie. Kindest and sweetest people you’ll ever meet!
• F2515LJlynnr (10/5): Sweet little lodge - We rented a cabin for one night on our way from Halifax to Quebec. Best decision! Heated indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, amazing breakfast, all tucked into a cozy lodge in the woods - and not far from the highway! Great spot to bring your family, wish we could have stayed longer. You could absolutely plan to stay here a few nights and do some relaxing.

It is set back from the road - nice level of privacy / lots of trees. Small bistro style area for breakfast (included - self serve, cereal juice scrambled eggs and various breads) Front desk staff helpful and courteous; after 11 pm the entrance reverts to a code entry style system. Room was reasonable though I found the bed too soft and floor did creak In a few spots. TV, tub, A/C. No extra charge for parking. I did not get to see the pool area though from the photos it looks lovely.

The pool and hot tub are in a nice setting, but are a bit run down. On the plus side, the service was great, and the staff were friendly. A cooked breakfast was included.

Tried to use the dishes, they were disgusting. Had to wash off sauce before I could use a knife. The boys found a towel under the bed so you know they didn't sweep. When we got back to our room they had "cleaned" it. Found a pill that was not ours in the middle of the bathroom floor.

• nb_cpl (8/5): A unique break away from the usual accommodations, yet central. - A natural chalet style oasis, that's surprising in the city. It proved to be an amazing though short winter weekend getaway. The location is close to everything that Bathurst has to offer, yet serenely nestled in a wooded setting that you’d only expect to find in a remote location (deer were seen in the back yard during our visit). We stayed in chalet#1, this suite had two double beds in a single open concept area bordered by a kitchen area, a living area (w/ large LCD Tv) & separate small dining nook area (small table w four chairs) surrounded by windows with access directly outside. It worked very well for us & two children. If it's available will definitely consider it as a base for any extended stays for personal or business visits in the region. The rustic lodge style construction features vaulted/cathedral type ceiling, most finishes in natural pine, ceramic tile floors with infloor heat. The breakfast was very good, self serve though, but more than basic continental. We felt the setting, pace, & amenities (pool & spa) made it an ideal tranquil break. The staff are personable, attentive & take pride in this property, it shows. Overall its was a very pleasant break, & most importantly it was a unique departure from the status quo (cookie cutter) chain variety of accommodations. Unfortunately we didn’t have an opportunity to schedule in any of their well recommended spa services. We didn’t see any other room categories.

• collinj66 (10/5): Amazing stay - My girlfriend and I planned on staying here for an evening away on a road trip from Halifax, NS. We ran into an issue and needed to stay a second evening. They were more than accommodating and helped us out the best they could. Nicole was at the front desk each time we passed by with a smiling face and asking how our stay was. A week leading up to our stay , we were able to keep in touch with Nicole with any questions and without hesitation she answered them all! Our room was beautiful and very clean! The hotel was cozy, clean and well decorated. It has full spa treatments, a pool, hot tub and sauna. All staff were friendly and welcoming. We could not be any happier with our stay! Thank you :)
• deby4 (4/5): jus OK - Stayed one evening on our way to PEI. Room is OK - nothing extraordinary, but the worst part is the breakfast included - self serve, all you have are tiny (not regular plate size) plates to put your overcooked scrambles eggs, sausage, and toast on. No home made jams, breads or anything that would make this a true good breakfast. I don't know if there is an option for no breakfast included, but if so, that is definitely the best option!
• 62beate (6/5): A quiet Location - Located some kilometers from the center of the town. We had a bungalow which was well furnished but gave a dark impression because of the dark wallpaper and floor. Could have been better cleaned. Spa facilities.

• davinaf96 (4/5): Bistro advertised on front page of website closed every evening - We booked this just the day before because we wanted to stay somewhere with a restaurant so we could have some wine with dinner and not have to drive. We stayed on a Friday and the bistro is listed on the front page of the website. As soon as we got there we asked about the bistro and were told it wasn’t open in the evenings. That is on another page of the website. We explained we had only booked because of the bistro and said we would rather make other arrangements. However they insisted on charging for the night so we stayed and had a ruined evening having to drive into Bathurst to have dinner. I was also surprised that although there was a coffee maker in the room there was no coffee, the sleeping area was very hot (air con and ceiling fan and window being at the living end of the lodge not the sleeping end). I would not recommend staying here.

• Paul (8/5): - really like the hotel. all good experience while there. problem was encountered during checkin. I had mad my expedia booking for 3 rooms. One of our parties could not make the trip. I cancelled 1 room, leaving us with 2 rooms. When we arrived, they only had 1 booking. They had the booking for our friends but they did not have my booking. They told me it was cancelled. They had 1 room left at the hotel so we did get a room. I would not have been happy if they did not have that room. I checked my cancellation email, from Expedia, and I did only cancel 1 room. They indicted, to me, that the issue was on Expedia's end.

• CBonn57 (6/5): Overnight stay - My husband and I stayed here on our two day stay vacation to northern New Brunswick. The cabin was the only availability. It was huge with two beds. Furniture was dated and a deep clean is needed. Blinds were dusty and just did not have that clean feeling. Cabin just did not have a homey feeling to it. We swam in pool and did the hot tub which wasn’t that hot. Sauna was available but it would have taking too long to heat. Continental breakfast was good but get rid of the paper plates and plastic utensils. Coffee in a styrofoam cup doesn’t make the grade. The place has potential but needs sprucing up.

• DawnD25 (10/5): Gorgeous Cottage in Bathurst - If you enjoy rustic accommodations this is the place for you! My husband and I and our teenaged daughter spent the night in a lovely cottage which was self-contained but attached to the main building by a series of hallways which would have been handy in bad weather. The cottage was large with two beds, fully equipped kitchen, TV, fireplace etc. Continental breakfast was included and was lovely. Furniture is a little dated and could use some updating but the shower was top knotch. Would highly recommend for families with small children.

I had heard that it wasn't what it used to be, but I decided to keep my reservation, assuming it couldn't have gotten that bad. We had a horrible and disgusting experience. The room was clean enough, but the bathroom wasn't... The pool was disgustingly dirty, slimy in the bottom with a very visible ring at the top. I wouldn't have gotten in if not for two screaming kids that had been told they were going swimming. Fortunately for me, the water was so cold they decided after a few minutes that they wanted to leave. The spa tub wasn't working. The ladder to get in the pool was broken, and one of the lounge chair on the side of the pool gave in under the weight of my 25 pound toddler... There were also some broken tiles on the side of the pool that had been "patched" with some wide clear tape. Breakfast "buffet" was dry bread and bagels, three very brown bananas, two different kind of cereals and yogurt. It was also really cold in the hotel. We turned the heat up in the bedroom, but we were freezing while eating breakfast, even though we all had jeans and a very warm top. Needless to say, we're not going to be going back, and won't be recommending this place anymore.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Facility has some charm to it - Room too small, no soap available in shower besides shampoo dispenser, toilet was dripping, seat would not stay up on it's own, bed frame and floor was making noise when moving around, matress very hard and uncomfortable. Not much of a breakfast.
• Christian (6/5): Your not going there for the room - It's a nice place. It's warm and cozy. I always enjoy a warm bath after my day. Unfortunately I needed to ask a club for the of the bathtub. They told me that they were afraid of the overflow with the water in it. I could understand that they maybe had an accident in the past, but for me it's not a reason for pushing the customer to use the shower, instead of a bath. Also the headboard in the room number 5 is damaged and not repaired. Finally not soap, except for the lotion one in a dispenser on the wall of the bathroom. For a spa environnement, I will offer nice soap. But I'm not in the hotel business and I could be wrong...
• Michael (8/5): Nice lodge right outside Bathurst - My wife and I spent one night at the Auberge during our honeymoon trip from Halifax to Montreal. The lodge is located outside the city and close to the highway. It is a quite spot and perfect for a good night sleep. The owner and manager speaks French and English and gave us a warm welcome. Our room was clean and comfy. We had dinner at its bistro, where we enjoyed fresh pasta and some French wine.
• Cheryl (10/5): Hidden treasure! - The staff and facility was amazing! We enjoyed our stay immensely! Room was huge and we had plenty of space for our family of 6. Pool was great also. Breakfast was good too.
• Dee (8/5): Recommend the "cabin" - Last time I stayed at this hotel it was in a "cabin" room. Because I was alone and travelling for work, I decided to rent a standard room. I don't think I would recommend renting one of the standard rooms. Although nicely put together is was small and I could hear my neighbours every move. I would however 100% recommend spending the extra money on one of the cabin rooms.
• evy0521 (8/5): Awesome getaway - My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway. We had booked an ATV day trip that we would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area and to take in the beautiful scenery. Dominique was very knowledgeable about the area and the surroundings; he also seemed organized as lunch, snacks and coffee stops were all carefully planned in order to give us a chance to relax and enjoy. When we got back to the hotel, we also got a chance to enjoy the sauna, pool and jacuzzi. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place looking to get away for the weekend.
• fireginger13 (10/5): So many great things about this place! - My husband and I stayed here for two nights on our way to Nova Scotia. We found it online and booked without knowing much. I can't say enough good things about this place! The room was wonderful and the hotel was wonderful. The food? Oh my! Everything is home made and we had many meals in their bistro and they were all incredible! The seafood pasta is to die for. :) I also had a few spa treatments and they were fantastic. I would highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant to anyone in the Bathurst area.

I would highly recommend this hotel, very relaxing with all the comforts of home. Great food as well!
• 481MaryH (10/5): Home away from home - We stayed here before & after our tour around the Gaspe. We had 3 rooms, all very nice, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed being able to relax outdoors at the many patio tables & chairs provided, and in the spa area. We loved the food and the atmosphere and the excellent company of the owners, Dominique & Nathalie, their daughter & their dog. We felt very much at home and would highly recommend this Auberge to anyone.
• TracyT629 (10/5): Excellent place to stay in Bathurst NB - Travelled with a small group on motorcycles, from the moment we arrived the staff were warm, friendly and very accommodating. The rooms, were spacious, clean and nicely decorated with everything on hand that we required. The food was delicious in the bistro and the pool and hot tub an ideal way to end the day. The setting of the hotel gives the feeling of being in the countryside rather than the City. We wish Dominique and his family the very best with their business and are happy that they chose Canada to be their new home.
