- Patricia (9/5): Would definitely book again, already recommended to family/friends. - Really friendly atmosphere. Owners and staff/team couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. Wonderful welcome. Our room and ensuite were spotlessly clean. Felt very easy to integrate with local people in the bar. A very peaceful location with lovely countryside views. Nothing. Everything aspect met and exceeded our expectation.
- Katherine (9/5): A gem of a stay - Warm welcome, comfy room with every convenience considered. Pub served great food too. Perfect base to explore Tyne Valley. Nothing

- Longshaw (7/5): - Very nice location to stay. We were in twin room which was ok the beds were rather small. Breakfast was disappointing as would of liked a full English instead of do it yourself
Alles da was man braucht.
- Steven (9/5): Great - Breakfast was good great location and very clean and comfortable The menu was very limited for non meat eaters
- PATRICIA (8/5): - Concept of b&b area separate from the pub itself.
- michael (10/5): -
- Stan (8/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): - The friendly staff, view from our room and pretty village. Good food at the restaurant with great staff.
- Arnoud (9/5): Gewelig verblijf en heerlijk eten! - Prima continental ontbijt. Zeer gevarieerde keuze.
Erg aardige eigenaren.
- Graeme (9/5): -

- Jenny (10/5): Great - Really comfortable and homely with great food.
- Antje (8/5): Empfehlenswert - Ruhige Lage in kleinem, abgeschiedenen Dorf.
- Bowden (9/5): -
- Kevin (8/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Everything I needed - Lovely location and dinner excellent, room for improvement with breakfast. NA

- Horridge (8/5): - Food Although polite, lacking warmth in their dealings with us.
There wasn't a friendly 'Hello' on arrival.
- Jim (10/5): - A lovely community pub with a very good restaurant. The Landlords were terrific, very friendly and accommodating and we had a great stay.
- Judy (10/5): Very pleasant , comfortable stay, good location. - Very clean and comfortable. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Easy good choice continental breakfast Nothing
- Wlodarczyk (10/5): - The staff were friendly, and there was no request that they will said no to it We loved all
- Frank (6/5): Pleasant spot with helpful staff. - Good location for visiting. Quiet village setting. Parking space. Although in a pub there was no intrusive noise. Tea making facility. Food not available some evenings.
- MC DK (8/5): -
- Caryl (9/5): Very good ticked all the boxes and met my expectations. - Lovely location, spotlessly clean, liked separate access from the pub, own area for breakfast with good selection for continental style. Lovely friendly host. Nothing
- Antonella (9/5): -
- Burns (10/5): -
- Catherine (7/5): - Everything we needed, comfy double bed, tea making facilities, working shower and lovely views from the back window. Noise from the bar downstairs. Obviously above a pub so expect some noise, but we were directly above the bar and could hear talking until after 11pm. Also unlucky not to get a table in the restaurant as there was a large party in. Our fault, should have booked earlier.
- Martin (10/5): Nice and friendly BnB - The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean and beds were very comfortable.
- Graham (10/5): Excellent place, room exceptional, clean, nicely furnished. Food was very good and all the staff were lovely and attenti - Very cosy, clean and modern Nothing
- Jeanette (8/5): - Nice clean room, comfortable beds, lovely views.
- Paul (10/5): - Terrific little pub, friendly owners, great meal, lovely room.
- Randle (8/5): - Lovely clean room. Tea and coffee in the room. Very friendly staff. Breakfast could be better, but for £5 per head there's everything you need, a choice of toast, cereal, potted fruit and yoghurt and pastries. 8
- MDJ (6/5): Perfectly fine stay, but no response to communications afterwards so I will avoid in future. - Friendly reception, evening meal was nice. I would have given a more positive review but this was a work trip and having tried 3 methods of communicating afterwards to request a VAT receipt there was no response either through booking.com, by direct email, or on facebook.
- John (8/5): - Food very good nice location
- Martin (9/5): Pleasant , comfortable short stay we will return for sure - Staff absolutely amazing
Bed even better than a premier inn bed 😁😁
Food freshly cooked Shower a little iffy
- Gordon (10/5): -
- Russell (9/5): - Room was very comfortable. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast was decent. Nothing at all apart from the pub itself being closed one day a week which is on a Tuesday, coincidentally the night that I stayed.
- Amelia (10/5): - Location perfect, breakfast perfect N\A
- Sune11 (9/5): -
- jimmyndee (9/5): - Beautiful place to stay out in the country but not far from Hexham
- Jacqueline (7/5): -
- michael (8/5): Pleasant staff and comfortable, clean room. - Breakfast was basic More variety of cereals
- Nick (8/5): -
- BRENDA (8/5): -
- Franca (8/5): - Le corde per accendere luce e doccia La colazione spartana
- Amanda (7/5): Friendly staff, beautiful room and location but seriously misleading advertising on Booking.com - Pros of this property:
Staff friendly. Lovely location. Free Parking. Quiet peaceful town close to Hadrian's wall and other small historic towns with scenic drives. Room was lovely, clean spacious, big bathroom. Views from the window of outside lawn and surrounding fields beyond all very beautiful.
Room is however right on top of the pub and is loud till 11.30pm when the pub closes, as soon as pub is shut, absolutely quiet and peaceful.
Beds and bedding are super soft and comfortable. Had wonderful peaceful restful sleep. 2 Major Errors when booking this room off Booking.com. The listing does call it a "Twin room" with the pictures showing two separate single beds but then for the same room, Booking.com says 1 double bed and shows a picture of a double bed. Because this room was cancellable right up until the day before and included breakfast, and it did say & show a picture of a double bed we decided to take it. Thinking maybe its a bed which can turn into a double and also be separated into 2 singles. Wrote to the hotel to confirm but only received a vague response that the double was already booked.
When we did arrive, we discovered that it unfortunately was indeed a true twin with two separate beds. The lady manager however was very professional & honest & could see the fault in the booking so gave us a discount on the room which we were grateful for.
Second Major Error on Booking.com says "fabulous breakfast included". We should have read the reviews because it was probably one of the worst breakfasts we have ever had. Fabulous breakfast implies cooked, continental a lot of different choice, fresh fruit etc. It unfortunately was anything but. Extremely disappointing & really poor food quality. It was like walking into someone's kitchen leftovers. No cooked food, couple boxes of cereal, no fresh fruit. Literally 1/3 left of milk from a small milk carton. Bread came from half eaten commercial loaf and some jam. All very cheap quality food items you can find in Aldi etc. We were sooo disappointed. Especially knowing they have a pub kitchen. Do not advertise "fabulous breakfast" if it's again the most cheap basic continental breakfast there is. Expectations and customer satisfaction will be seriously let down which will lead to negative reviews. Again owners need to sort out their listing with Booking.com because owners may not even realise this is what Booking.com advertises the room as.
- Jessica (8/5): I loved it - It was nice
- Margaret (9/5): A friendly community pub in a lovely setting - Lovely village setting. The pub is the heart of a lovely friendly community. We stayed for 3 nights. Arriving on a Sunday, it was quiz night, so after a really nice meal in the restaurant we joined the locals for the quiz. We were made to feel really welcome. All the staff were really attentive and they all worked really hard throughout the evening, it was a busy night.
The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was adequate. I understand that a cooked breakfast option will soon be available. Food at the pub is really good and has a nice menu to suit most palettes. Highly recommend. The tenants have only been at the property for about 6 weeks and I have to say they are all doing a great job! I think their are even greater things to come too, we'll done The Rose and Crown. I don't have any complaints
- Lorna (10/5): - Great room, comfy bed and a bath!
- Clarice (10/5): Excellent stay! - Everything was very clean and cozy, and the bed was comfortable. We had dinner at the pub and the food was excellent! Everyone was very nice to us too! Worth every penny.
- Charmaine (7/5): Quality time spent with my son - Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely village setting. Bed & Breakfast was pretty basic, clean, and tidy, likewise the continental breakfast. The room needed a bit of a TLC. Apart from that it was good 2 nights stay for me and my son.
- Sandra (10/5): Really enjoyed the location, the accommodation & the food. - Friendly pub, good food with clean & comfortable accommodation. The mattress on the bed was too soft but that is just personal preference.
- Stephen Mather (8/5): Nice old country pub - Nice location. Very welcoming staff. Really nice pub with beer garden and views lovely walks nearby .
A community owned pub much used by the locals.
Very good evening meal.
They even have my favourite cider. Breakfast very basic but quite adequate. However lack of real coffee is a downside. Instant only.
A Nespresso machine would solve it.
- Jack (10/5): -
- PATRICIA JOY (9/5): great stay -
- Denis (8/5): -
- Rol B (8/5): - Good size room, continental breakfast, very clean and well maintained. Nothing.
- Jennifer (10/5): Perfect in every way! -
- Karen (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Beautiful location and food is amazing. My room (double) was beautiful, clean and so welcoming. The staff there were so lovely too. Highly recommend, and will be back. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Maria (7/5): - Location

Noise
- ecleme11 (10/5): Lovely pub in an ideal location serving great food - Really lovely place ideally located for Hexham, Corbridge and probably Newcastle, dinner was delicious and the self service continental breakfast in the morning is really good if you like to get up and out early in the morning. Really comfy bed and only a little bit of noise from the pub downstairs No complaints
- Alison (8/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): - From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, Sam was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with an amazing view! It had everything we needed and we had a very quiet and comfortable night. The cost of the taxi to the venue we were going to! However, it was a bank holiday!
Nothing else at all, it was a lovely stay! Thank you Rose and Crown.
- Toni (10/5): Another enjoyable stay. - Another lovely stay in this fabulous pub. Our double room was spotless. Well decorated and some nice little touches inc the well stocked tea/coffee tray. Great location and views to the rear from the beer garden are spectacular. Can’t wait to return soon. Staff so friendly and welcoming too.
- Tersha (8/5): Lovely comfortable stay, -
- Luke (10/5): Cosy English Inn - The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location was gorgeous. The room was really cosy and i had a great night's sleep
- Peter (8/5): - We stayed at the property 2 years ago and found it really
nice. This time, I think we had a different room . Still nice
but unfortunately we could not get the electric shower to function and when I intended to report this there appeared to be nobody around . Still a nice venue in a pleasant
setting. I presume your refund to me was because you
took payment from my wife’s card.
Thank you Peter Carroll
- Yvonne (9/5): - Friendly staff and locals. Good food. Very welcoming.
- Keitha Hayes (10/5): Lovely ! - Very friendly hostess, lovely room, dinner on site was brilliant.
- Kath (8/5): Would stay again if no party in the bar - Great location and good food, lovely staff and very clean We were kept awake in the evening by the noise/singing downstairs till 11.30 when we had an early start, perhaps could have been warned when we booked?

If there was one thing you could do even better is check the dates on the pain au chocolats as they were out of date and most of the UHT cartons had soured and gone off. As mentioned above.
