Guest Reviews
- Paul (4/5): Dont expect a modern room - First, the dtaff is friendly and accommodating, very nice. The property itself is old, we know it is, it is historical. However they have not been able to update it to provide modern comforts like a tolorable room temperature. The original floors have gaps in them so light from the space below clearly shines up and through. The shower pressure is absolutely horrible, barely a dribble. Its bad, really bad.
- Michael joseph (10/5): - Hospitality was top notch!!!!
- Daniel (8/5): - The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming! The location is historic and charming. The restaurant served a truly delicious breakfast and lunch.
- Mark (10/5): a great base to explore the island from - From the first few minutes after our arrival when we were shown up to our room we knew we had picked the right place for our week in Antigua. Friendly and helpful staff always ready to advise and assist. Lovely clean and spacious Georgian studio with high ceilings, wood beams and period furniture. All in a most beautiful setting at English Harbour. When we checked out yesterday it felt like we were saying goodbye to old friends. After a week touring the island with it's many stunning beaches and working our way around the many great choices of restaurants around the Copper and Lumber store we can highly recommend this as a base to explore from.
- Jose (10/5): - Absolutely recommended. The hotel is located at a beautiful historical building in English Harbor. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The premise has a lot to offer including a beatiful historical harbor and great seafood dinner on Friday evening. I am happy to spend my birthday at such nice hotel and in the beautiful island of Antigua!
- Noelle (10/5): - Such a charming place! My second stay here. Staff is great, complimentary breakfast was fresh, tasty and filling. Really enjoyed our stay!
- Timothy (10/5): - Beautiful location ... friendly staff
- Isabelle (10/5): Great hotel in Nelson’s Dockyard - I really enjoyed my overnight stay here. The room is very space full, clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was plentiful. The staff were friendly and the historical location was wonderful. The beautiful Pigeon beach is about 15 mins walk and the shops and restaurants are very closed too.
- Philippe (8/5): - Great historical property that’s well maintained on the waterfront. Last minute booking that worked out great for our family! The team was courteous and helpful.
- laurence (10/5): - The property is an historic restoration, brilliantly done, in a gorgeous historic harbor . The staff are amazing...with warm hospitality and professionalism. They were so helpful, particularly Kalia, and treated us like family. They arranged everything we wanted to experience, and chose excellent tours and drivers for us. We can't say enough about our wonderful visit to Antigua, and the staff and atmosphere at C&L were the joyful highlight .
- Rungnapha (8/5): - Great customer service from Claudius. The room looks like it has not been updated in 10 years. A $20 coffee pot no usb. No headboard on the bed.
- Sarah (10/5): - We loved our stay! The front desk staff was very accommodating. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning. Highly recommend staying here!
- Gretchen (10/5): - Unique historic building restored as a hotel with period decor. Really charming, great location. No pool or beach, but a water taxi can take you to a beach 5 mins away.
The best part is how wonderful, welcoming, and helpful the staff was - including the 3 ladies who sang Happy Birthday to my husband at breakfast.
- Alex (10/5): - Wonderful location in the heart of Nelson’s Dockyard - at night you can have it all to yourself, stroll around and pretend you own one of the many million pound yachts moored there! Seriously, the location is brilliant - where else can you stay in the middle of a UNESCO world heritage site! Five stars!!!
- Richard (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly.
- maria (10/5): - Great hotel. Perfect location and incredible staff especially Gillian on the front desk.
- Martin (10/5): - A unique historic property in a beautiful quiet yet convenient location.
- Peter (4/5): - The room was not advertised as being on two floors. The room did not have a microwave, a chair upstairs, or robes as shown in the pictures. There was nowhere to sit upstairs other than on the bed. The bathroom was located on the main level vs bedroom level. The AC was not sufficient for the room. It was very hot downstairs and too cold upstairs. The toilet ran with a loud noise the whole time we were there. We brought it up everyday but the repair was never addressed. Bottom line is that the advertising did not match the reality, which is very disappointing
- a s g (10/5): Great location - Great location right by the harbour in a historic place.
- Robert (10/5): - Very mice historical property over looking the harbor with large yachts.
Many sail boat charters operate out of here.
- Rosalind (10/5): - Wonderfully historic, peaceful and atmospheric
- Peter (10/5): Great place to stay and great staff - We really enjoyed our stay in Copper & Lumber in English Harbour, both the hotel and the area. The hotel and rooms have been appointed in keeping with the historic theme of the building so don’t expect 5* luxury. However, the rooms are very spacious and on two levels. Breakfast overlooking the harbour was a great way to start the day. The staff were amazing, welcoming, helpful and genuinely happy to look after us, Michelle in particular stood out. Just a couple of negatives; the rooms were very dark and the partitions between the rooms were very thin, we could clearly hear conversations from adjacent rooms. Don’t let this put you off, this is a great place to stay and we would return in a heartbeat.
- Maureen (10/5): - Staff treated us like family. Intimate surroundings. Breakfasts good. Could walk to several restaurants within 5-10 min. View of harbour and huge yachts from our window. Reception very accommodating and friendly. One suggestion for Hotel is there should be a warning near the taps not to drink the water. I was not aware until a maid told me locals do not drink it. Coffee was not replenished daily in our room for our coffee maker. Asked for body lotion and she left several tubes for me. Bed comfy. Sofa was not.
- Bryan (8/5): - A rough start as the room was not ready until after 6pm. But the staff we accommodating and nice.
Room was clean and spacious. Amazing location and a nice continental breakfast
- Greg (8/5): - Its a great little place where you can go back to the 1800's with some A/C. We booked two rooms and one was grand and the other not so grand however the stay was fine.
- Freeland, (8/5): - Beautiful hotel on a historic site in the middle of everything English Harbor. If you have mobility problems they have no elevator you have to use stairs to get up to the rooms and in the suites we have to climb the stairs to the bedroom. Location is ideal there’s really no beach there but you can go to a nearby beach.
- Robin (8/5): - Quirky, comfortable and relaxing!
- pascal (8/5): - very quiet, relaxing
- Rachel (10/5): - Friendly and helpful staff. Historical and unique building in an historical harbor area.
- Frederick (10/5): - Unique. Charming. Great location.
- Cynthia (10/5): - This Inn is beautiful & charming. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. Large bedroom and new bathroom. All staff were fabulous. Easy to drive to beaches. Enjoyed breakfast watching the sailboats and yachts come in and out. Easy walk to many restaurants. The Dockyards and area are a World Heritage site - very well cared for. We didn't want an "all inclusive" resort so this fit us perfectly.
- Gabriel (10/5): - Must stay at this historic hotel. The rooms have so much character and charm. Split in two levels, very clean and comfortable.
- Thomas (10/5): - Very nice staff & location
- Nadeem (10/5): Will Stay Again - Amazing Stay at an Historic place in Antigua
- Susie (10/5): - Fabulous location.Quiet at night
Especially helpful & happy staff .
A great base to explore the South of the island

- sonia (10/5): - Beautiful historical property. Staff helpful, accommodating and friendly. The location is perfect to access all the English Harbour has to offer. Parking included which is a bonus
- Sean (10/5): - This was our 3rd stay at the Cooper and Lumber Store Hotel. Always a great vibe in the dockyards. Claudius at the front desk was very helpful and helped make our stay great!
- Eric (10/5): - Very nice historical building and conveniently located.
- Teng (8/5): - A historical building located inside the nelson dockyard. A lot of restaurants nearby and easy to get to two nearby beaches. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Greg (10/5): - Simply a really neat place in a historical setting. Great value.
- Hadley (10/5): Beautiful character property in a great location - The building is a beautifully maintained heritage building with tasteful, roomy and comfortable rooms. Beautiful views. The staff could not have been more welcoming.
restaurants, cafe's and the marina are walking distance away.
- Alan (10/5): Copper and Lumber Store, English Harbour, Antigua - Charming inn, full of character. Friendly, helpful staff. Seafood Friday evening is a local must-do.
- Sindy (10/5): Antigua Jan 2022 - Great hotel, cannot wait to go back!
- Grady (6/5): - The property is unique and in a beautiful setting. The suite was nice, but only the bedroom was air-conditioned. It was noisy during happy hour and from visitors on the sidewalk outside the hotel.
- Maria (10/5): - Beautiful, historic property in the center of English Harbour. Walkable to everything. Great dining options. The staff was most helpful, pleasant and very accommodating. Thank you! We can't wait to visit again.
- Claire (10/5): A special place In Antigua - Staff were amazingly helpful. The historic building and its setting are unique and very special.
- Eli (10/5): - The hotel was very clean and staff where very helpful
- Vinnessa (10/5): - .
- Jonathan (10/5): Great hotel!! - What a charming lovely hotel. Spacious charming old world style.. great staff. Not our first time here and it won’t be our last
- Jonathan (10/5): Safe & relaxing - A lovely hotel in a charming part of Antigua
The old village requires masks, but there are close places to go to w/o worries. I love the mask requirement. Hand sanitizers everywhere but also a sense of freedom in this nook of the world and this charming hotel.
- lesley (10/5): Fantastic - It felt like I was at home with lots of comforts
- Lindsay (10/5): - Perfect location. Well equipped and clean. No lovely staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice historic property within Nelson's dockyard and easy walking to many restaurants and shops outside the dockyard.
Very noisy mechanical systems (a/c, bath fan) inside unit and from outside the units.
Whole unit (we stayed in a suite) could use a good upgrade.
- Mirrett (10/5): - Very pleasant experience. The staff was courteous however the
- Vik (10/5): - The hotell feel like you have stepped back in time, yet it has all the luxuries one can expect from a modern
Hotel, staff is wonderf and made my stay a memorable one.
Thanks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great night in a rustic property. The location is good and the included breakfast is perfect. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely charming - really enjoyed our stay and play to make it our base when we come back
- Osdale (10/5): The Copper And Lumber Store - The overall experience was very good. The entire staff was excellent, especially the Manager and the receptionist working evenings. The grounds and hotel was very clean. We enjoyed the historic site and how well it is maintained and operated. The room was very comfortable and I had the best night sleep ever in a hotel there. We were delighted everything we needed was in the area.
- Patrick (10/5): BREATHING TAKING VIEW - Great rooms beautiful wooden floors service was excellent staff great would recommend 100%
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful restoration, huge room, lots of history, great staff, nice continental breakfast, good lunch, cleaning crew wonderful. Perfect for our Anniversary.
- Kristina (10/5): - We loved the property! It was clean and the history was amazing. We loved sitting out on the Ayer at the cafe and walking around Nelson’s Dockyard . So glad we found this gem.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff ....the at home feeling.. closeness to the beach ... good food
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Fabulous place great rooms. Mosquitos very annoying in room
- Jessica (10/5): Great views - Wonderful, spacious room. I loved sitting at the open air part of the restaurant with morning coffee, enjoying the views and the gold finches and pelicans.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely stunning location, very laid back friendly staff. Rooms are excellent, we stayed in a contemporary suite, which was ideal. Give yourself plenty of time for breakfast in the morning as can be a little slow, but you are in the Caribbean so totally worth it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The historic value in this property and the area is priceless
- Brian (10/5): - We loved this Historic Inn. It was so amazing to stay within Nelson's Dockyard. The staff was so kind and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay extra special. Our suite was absolutely beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Interior of building was nice, staff were friendly. Breakfast, I order omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes. Got it with paprika, (allergy for that)They just change ingredients without asking..
- William (10/5): - So clean. So friendly. Great location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Booked room w King bed upstairs and kitchen and two beds downstairs. When wife and I arrived there they said we would have to pay extra $120 a night for room ($60 per additional child). Felt like a bait & switch. Did not want to be charged 50% cancellation rate so we were forced to "pay up." Complained to hotel staff & Expedia and neither party helped us. I won't stay there again and will not use Expedia either.
- ciaran (6/5): Beautiful old-world building - This is a truly old-world building with authentic room experience located in the heart of Nelson's Dockyard. We loved the location and style, although the bar and dining options were disappointing in terms of service level and a lack of finesse relative to the location. Beds are very comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel was charming, the entire staff couldn't be more accommodating, and we were welcomed from start to finish. There are several dining options around the area. We had two contemporary suites for our family of five adults, and the rooms worked out perfectly. Loved this experience and look forward to returning some day!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nice Historic building, the staff was very friendly and helpful, my first night was ok, it gets very noisy in the morning and my second night in room AJAX was just horrible, some shutters were banging on the roof all night, could barely sleep, woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep with the noise, the second room i got was also missing the shampoo, the tissue box was open and used ...
- Caroline (10/5): - Superb hotel in a wonderful location, right in the historic centre of Nelsons Dockyard. Room was lovely, and staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend.
- Mike (8/5): Historic, but make it a short stay - Lovely historic building. Rooms large but dark, also had beds in the lounge which spoilt the layout of the room. Good location but little outside comfortable seating. Some of the staff better than others. There are better hotels for the money, however, for the historic experience it's hard to beat. Good for a 1 or 2 night stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful historic property. Clean, comfortable room and very friendly people. Highly recommended.
- Tracy (10/5): - Loved, Loved, Loved staying at the Copper and Lumber Inn. Everything and everyone was above what I thought it would be. I brought my parents with me to Antigua and knew they would not like staying on the beach so I decided to try staying here. We loved watching the ships come in and out of the harbor, and just walking around the grounds. The staff was wonderful. often doing things for us late at night or just whenever we asked. The stay was wonderful!!!
- Martha (10/5): - We arrived at the hotel to discover there was an error with our reservation. The hotel was expecting us the next day. Fortunately, we had a copy of the booking confirmation with us. The woman working the front desk was quick to figure out how to fix the error and accommodate us while we enjoyed a free rum punch in the bar. The room we were given was an upgrade and fantastic. Thank you for a great introduction to Antigua.
- Steve (8/5): Good location, shame about the food quality/servic - The hotel itself is very well located within the historic dockyard and in easy walking distance of bars and restaurants. The sea a mere stones toss from the front door. The food was mediocre at best. We are quite sure we suffered stomach upsets due to the breakfast ham. Steer clear of chilled meats. Though the fresh fruit breakfast was little better. The service was almost asleep at times. A total lack of interest was shown by one ot two of the staff which was a great pity as this hotel was very good otherwise and this let down the rest of the staff, who were lovely to us.
