Guest Reviews
- Thanabhusest (8/5): - It's clean. The room is spacious and beds are comfortable. Not everything is shiny new but it's good for the value. The place itself is also pretty cool and stylish. I recommend this place. It's a bit far from the restaurants area though. But we have a car, so that's not a problem for us.
- ChrisandKate (8/5): - Only stayed one night and checked in late. Problem with room ac which the guy on reception worked hard to resolve. Excellent staff and good breakfast
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I didn't get to use the pool but it looked nice. Booked a taxi to pick up at airport, it never came. Had to get taxi at airport to hotel. The transfers seem expensive but I paid. Very difficult communicating with the gentleman at the front desk. Even with google translate!
The GOOD: Breakfast, nice size room(s). Had a unit with king bed and 2 Twins. Kettle and mini fridge.
The BAD (many of which I had read about previously:
- broken safe
- screen in window in shower missing a massive piece, several inches wide!
- bugs in shower
- missing switch covers
- warped bathroom door due to water overflow from shower??
- missing light bulbs
- horrible pillows
- very dirty looking although hoping it was decently clean?
Crazy I paid LESS THAN HALF the rate in a Buenos Aires apartment with full kitchen, large space, everything works and VERY CLEAN!
- Sandra (8/5): - The location was not the best, we like to be close to the city center but from the hotel, you have easy access to everywhere. The best of the hotel is it staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Don't let what I'd call the shabby entry gste put you off. Staff are awesome. Place is clean. Pool and bar area top notch. (Bar not open during my stay.) I think all rooms are different. Mine was an incongruous mix of modern technology (wifi, remote a/c control, headboard reading lights) and 1950s style. Very comfortable for overnight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet place, some suppermarkets very close.
Not far from centre of town. Staff helpful.
- Roberto Oscar (10/5): Muy bien atendidos, zona alrededor del hotel fea ! - Muy buena relación precio calidad
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excelente hotel - Excelente atención. Desayuno natural .
- Mayra (4/5): Disappointed - I rented two bedrooms for my parents and for myself and my husband. First night they had issues with hot water and waited for 1 hour with not luck, they ended up showering in my suite. Next day the same plus no air conditioning on their room either.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room is simple, there is a bed room, shower room and the kitchen area and open space, which they added an extra bed for us. It was nice to be able to boil water and if wanted to put stuff in the fridge. The breakfast was plentiful. The swimming pool was much smaller than we had expected but we never got the chance to use it. The staff was helpful when we ask for information though don't expect a detailed map of the area which would have been helpful, though we managed with a simple one. We didn't really hang around the hotel, as we was out to the falls on both days.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We stayed for 2 days and really enjoyed the welcoming and friendly treatment and atmosphere. Camilla on reception was so helpful, booking a taxi for us and trips to Iguazo before we arrived. And then super obliging when we met her in person.
The rooms were comfortable with lots of space and the usual amenities.
The breakfast was excellent with a great choice, surprisingly large for a small hotel.
Would definitely stay again if I came back to Iguazo.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to stay. Close to the bus stop that can take you to the Argentine and Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls. Pool looked nice as well but didn't use it. Helpful staff in setting up airport transfer and information on how to take the bus.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The surrounding is not good, the property itself was ok.
- julie (8/5): it did what it said on the tin - plenty hot water and towels, clean but a little dated, staff spoke good english, were professional and friendly; supermarket close by, first restuarant on walk to town had excellent barbecued steaks.
this hotel was value for money,
- Jackie (8/5): - There was no hot water in our room. We mentioned it the next morning and they said a tap was turned off. We had a very late flight but they let us stay and enjoy the pool and refreshments and stored our bags. Very nice people
- Clare (6/5): A solid hotel with friendly staff. - Pros: Good location near a bus stop going to the Iguazú Falls and a short walk into town, massive king bed, friendly staff, good breakfast and great pool.
Cons: A shower that flooded the bathroom every time we used it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful staff, amazing hotel in a perfect location. The small hotel is perfect for families or couples. Cannot recommend any higher
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small hotel. Nice breakfast. Bathroom showing age. Bedroom window needs upgrade to help minimize noise from neighborhood dogs barking all night long.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved our stay here last week. The hotel is clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff was super helpful and spoke great English. The breakfast was amazing - fresh fruit, eggs to order and fresh juices. The pool was also nice and they have a hammock for relaxing. The hotel is close to grocery stores and only a short easy walk to town and restaurants. The bus picks up and drops off right around the corner so it is super convenient to go to the park. The only thing to note is that the hot water takes a while to come in - like 10 minutes. You will think the showers are cold, but wait a while and the water gets super hot. I would stay here again for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pros:
Spacious rooms, close to bus stops to both downtown and Iguazu Falls, super markets, restaurants. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood.
Excellent internet quality.
Stafff are super friendly, helpful and speak English.
Cons:
Street dogs constantly barking at night. (Looks like street dogs are common in this city).
- patrick (10/5): - everything was perfect .... they took care of everything including the transfers for a fair price .... everybody is so nice .... incredible
- Erick Daniel (10/5): - Hotel confortável quarto amplo corresponde a expectativa.
- Kered (10/5): Comfort and relaxation - This was a great place to stay. The room was comfortable and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Kind hotel staffs.
- Rae (8/5): - The staff was very friendly, breakfast was good. Location was fine- a slight uphill walk to get to the main road, but also near a grocery store. Our room was a split-level, and walking up to the bed was REALLY slippery in socks. The hot water took several minutes to heat up. We did lose power one morning (as other reviews said, pretty much unavoidable).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for the price and convenience! - The Tupa staff was professional, polite and helpful, thank you for making every part of our trip perfect! For the price and wanting to stay on budget for an overnight stay to Puerto Iguazu National Park this worked.
- Brent (8/5): Nice stay - Nice stay and not far walk from town. Pool is perfect temperature and nice to chill around. Staff are very helpful and couldn’t complain about much. Lots of dogs in the neighborhood and loud barking at times but nothing too bad
- Dani (8/5): Small basic hotel- good value for money. - Small basic hotel (only ten rooms) a bit out of the beaten track. We actually could not find the place when getting back as it is amongst local residences.
Be sure to ask for a room on the opposite side of the side road….otherwise you will, like us, be kept awake many hours during the night by the sound of barking dogs.
The first night as we left the door to our room opened, while we got our luggage I saw a huge spider enter our room and it went hiding behind the fridge. I went to get a staff person who got rid of it…but could not sleep too well since I also seen another insect quite large later…woke up my husband who killed it. So I put a towel along the door as it did not seem to well insulated from the outside.
The pool seemed nice but we did not have time to try it.
Good breakfast.
A real plus: staff incredibly nice and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little hotel, situated towards the outskirts of the town centre. Friendly knowledgable service and suitable room.
- Mike (10/5): Great location - We stayed for five nights. Location was good ,nice and close to town ,restaurants and supermarkets. Breakfast was really good as well.
- Vitumbiko (8/5): Nice Hotel Location but Breakfast Problem - The hotel is fine..a 3* Standard to be exact. It is located centrally.
The only problem is breakfast. They need to improve a number of things. Its like the bread had overstayed, one egg not properly done, few choice of what to it
- Jack (10/5): Very cozy hotel - A lovely hotel for the price, and deserving of praise. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, although mostly speak Spanish. While the breakfast is simple, it's quite nice. Quite a bit of decor that give a very cozy, tropical feel to the hotel. The only downsides were the unheated pool (which also had a fair bit of drowned insects in it), the weird shower temperatures that sometimes went wild and the occasional power outages that required the backup generator but meant a few minutes downtime for things like wi-fi. Overall
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very helpful staffs - The hotel is clean, room is good size, the staffs are very helpful, I was having a bit of issues with my flight tickets, they let me use their computers and tried to web check in for me, breakfast is also quite a bit of varieties as well
- Yumi (10/5): Most comfortable bed I've slept in, in 6 weeks! - The hotel is small, nice and clean. The room I booked was a 1 bedroom w/ tv and king bed, with kitchen, living room with tv and bathroom. Shower had good water pressure. But the bed, so not hard and not to soft. I didn't feel like I had springs poking into my back. The staff was nice and friendly. They booked my shuttle to the airport for me.
- travel bug (8/5): nice hotel, excellent staff - Good hotel, very informative and helpful office staff who speak English very well. They offered suggestions on how to get to the falls an what to see first. Nice pool but somewhat small
- yuan (8/5): - The hotel is nice and clean. People are friendly. The breakfast is simple. It has fresh fruit bakery and coffee, juice and yogurt. Wish they can add eggs. I recall the dogs were barking late night and rosters waked me up very early. Nice pool.
- Paul (8/5): - Lovely place and great Base. Dubious about location at first as resurfacing of road made the approach unkempt but turned out just fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location to visit falls and city. - Perfect for walking around town and restaurants. Not luxurious but very comfortable. Incredible for the price
- Keith (6/5): Hotel was ok - Nice and helpful staff, we were wanting affordable lodgings, so you often get what you pay for.
The location was not the greatest, but overall it was ok
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Staff extremely friendly and informative. Really nice restaurants within walking distance of the hotel - and safe to do so at night. Overall a great hotel for a few day visit to the cataratas!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good! - Nice!
It was a little outside the center of town, but that is the only thing negative
Nice staff, clean room, nice breakfast.
Overall, great stay
- Antony Edward (8/5): Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian & Argentinian side - Although 8 blocks or a good 20-25 minute walk to the bus station and some bars/restaurants this hideaway is affordable, clean and with nice friendly and helpful staff.
If you are visiting the waterfalls, the local bus to that destination runs outside in the main road as is FAR CHEAPER than taking an organised tour. About 1hr or less to the main entrance of the falls - you then need local money for ticket entrance to the park 260 and also another 650 for the boat ride into the falls and the jeep ride through the jungle - all recommended. If you DIY the waterfalls without a Travel Agency you'll be saving the money to pay for the activities..!!!
There are shops and basic food/drinks, do you can travel light. The falls are spectacular..!!! The boat ride is wet and they give you dry bags for you belongings..! Wear light clothing and bring a change for the boat is my advise. Enjoy.....
- Ankur (10/5): Comfortable Stay - We had a very nice time at the hotel. Breakfast was good and had cereal, yogurt, bread, cheese, ham, tea and coffee. Room was very comfortable and spacious and clean. The hotel had a nice pool. The service was very good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would come back again.
- DC Resident (8/5): Unpretentious lodging, wonderful staff - Close to the road leading to the falls and the airport, but a little far from the restaurants in the center of town. The staff goes out of its way to be helpful, and the option of late check-out for 450 pesos was exactly what we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great hotel - I loved it, nice place. super helpful staff
- Carolyn (6/5): ok if you can't find 1 closer to the falls
- When you first pull down the block to go the the hotel its a little scary and you pray there really is a hotel behind the gate. Neighborhood is a little rough in looks but the people are nice. Roads not paved and you have to walk to restaurants to eat. Best advice is to go to El Quincho a 3 block walk (very upscale in this crazy area) with great food and entertainment. The rest of the time we ordered in. We had room 8, separate bedroom and sleeps 4. Air conditioning was good, clean with kitchen and mini bar but bathroom was terrible. It was so hot and steamy that god knows what grows in there. We literally spent as little time as possible in it. Hotel has a decent pool. Downside is there is nothing to eat once breakfast is served. We arrived midday and were out of luck. Two supermarkets around the corner and places to order but you definitely get nervous walking in this area.
- Graham (8/5): Iguassu trip. - Poured with rain but they made us very welcome & so helpful. Town is not great but went to two good restaurants one walking distance, one cab ride, can't remember names. Very comfortable & pleasant.
- 007cmtv (2/5): Mosquitos, Dirty Bathroom, and early construction - This hotel is overpriced for what it is. The room was not properly maintained and had holes in the walls, dangling wiring and a horrific bathroom. It is located 25min from town on a poorly lit dirt road. The bathroom was disgusting and had tons of mosquitos that feasted on us throughout the night. To top it off we were woken up at 5am to the sound of construction right next to our window. They were adding a roof to the sun deck. Breakfast (if you can call it that) was nearly non existent. They told us we could have espresso but there was none in the morning. Steer clear of this place, spend a bit more to stay in town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, nice location - The staff was very helpfull and the room very comfortable.
This hotel would be greater if they change the pool, or make it better
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stay for a couple of nights - Excellent check-in with good overview of town and falls provided without even asking. Accommodation was large two story room, though we did get tired of climbing stairs to bedroom when we forgot things. If single floor rooms are the same size, I would request one of those next time. A little mold in shower corners, but that probably comes with hot humid environments. Two small super mercados around the corner and bus stop nearby. The only real downside is the location from downtown - almost a mile to first restaurants on main street. We got tired of walk by third day. Breakfast was descent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): I didnt like it - I didn't like this hotel. Staff were friendly but room aren't clean. I really don't recommend this hotel.
- Zukisani (8/5): Good hotel for the price & location - The hotel is nice and cozy, close enough from the Airport and the Iguazu Falls. The neighbourhood looks a bit doggy outside but once you inside the place is lovely.
The pool is nice nd colling after a hot humid day.
The hotel did not seem to serve hot breakfast though.
- John (8/5): Great experience at Iguazu Falls - We had a fabulous few days. The pool was crystal clear and really refreshing after a hot day at Iguaza Falls. The bed very comfortable. Staff were really helpful and a happy group. They arranged a driver to meet us at the airport. We booked Rene for all of our tours.
- Carmelo Ray (10/5): Nice place to relax after a long day out and about - I chose Tupa for it's positive reviews and they lived up to it. I arrived early at about 8am and check in wasn't until 2pm so I headed out to the Brazilian side of the Falls for the day. As I had arrived early, the staff were kind to allow me to use the back of their office space and even offered bathrooms near the pool to get changed and freshen up. I was welcomed warmly. Whenever I had questions, staff always tried their best to help even with limited English. Breakfast was Okay with some meat and croissants. Shower was great and beds were very comfortable! I ended up sleeping more than planned! Would not hesitate to come back to this hotel again.
- Wonderful (10/5): Wonderful - Very helpful staff! Clean very spacious room with kitchen and an extra sitting room. Nice pool. Relaxing. The staff could speak some English and told us how and where to catch the bus for the falls. It was an easy 2 block walk. There are many grocery stores and places to eat near by. The staff called a cab for us to get back to the airport. It was in a safe area. Air conditioner and wifi worked well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - Great service in this small hotel. Worked out really well to go see iguazu falls!
- Stuart (8/5): Small family owned hotel - basic but great. - Staff very friendly and helpful - excellent value for money!
- mainecoon (4/5): Not a great experience. - First - the positive - the reception staff is very friendly and helpful. There was a fridge that was nice and cold stalked with drinks at reasonable prices if u get in and need a drink immediately.
Now for the bad: the shower - no hot water sometimes and very low shower pressure.
The air conditioner was dripping tons of water. I told them but they didn't come so it continued to drip water to the floor. Also, it made a very loud noise and probably in need of repair. As I had it high and was still hot in the room.
Another thing that was very irritating was the blasting of music loud in the evening by the staff for the staff. I complained and I know I was not the only one annoyed by it. They did turn it off but seriously why do I need to even ask!
Also, the doors had big gaps in the wood and the U stairs balcony had no lock and did not shut all the way?
Anyways, I saw the falls and wasn't expecting grandness - but hot water and air conditioning was included with the room and both did not work properly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Tupa Boutique- Overpriced - You reach Tupa by walking down a side street off the main road into town. The neighborhood was a bit grungy, though relatively quiet. The room we were given had two levels, the upper bedroom level reachable by a steep staircase with a 90 degree turn. I would not recommend this for anyone with mobility problems or small children. The small bath and a sofa were on the first floor. Luckily, the air conditioning worked well.
The hotel has a small shallow pool with 3-4 lounge chairs.
The office staff were helpful, though most had limited English skills (we similarly had limited Spanish skills). WiFi was out most of the time we were there, supposedly a common occurrence throughout Puerto Iguazu.
Overall, the hotel seemed overpriced for what they offered. We payed about $100/night for this "suite."
Restaurants in downtown Iguazu were about a 15 minute walk, thought there was one about 4 blocks away that had excellent steak, El Quincho del Tio Querido and entertainment (2 guitar players the night we were there).
- Verified traveler (6/5): The hotel has nice location - There were too many bugs, like cockroaches, made me very uncomfortable. The service of the front desk was fine the first day, but when I was checking out, they seemed to be very impatient. And they don't speak English. But the location was good. I could walk to the city center, the River Parana, and the bus station to the Iguazu falls.
- NA (6/5): Very helpful staff - Situated near to the main road and supermarket, we arrived just before the crowds from the falls. There aren't many sun loungers for the number of people staying so it got busy by the pool for cooling off after a day in the sun.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very nice with a spa bath and kitchenette but lots of bugs stopped us from using the spa bath.
No restaurants near by so we had to order takeaway which wasn't nice.
The barman made us some lovely capriana cocktails and cheese sandwiches. Lovely breakfast incl fresh fruits.
- John (8/5): Good small hotel on the edge of Iguazu City. - We made this reservation because of the high reviews it got on Hotels.com. When we got off the bus from Iguazu Park, we were concerned because we had to go down a dirt road in a not very upscale area of town. But we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the place and discovered an oasis in the bario. The staff was very welcoming and the hotel was quite nice by small town standards. We did not rate it as high as mentioned in the ratings only because it really didn't measure up to a truly great hotel. But it is definitely the place to stay in Iguacu because it is clean, friendly, and well kept up. We were not disappointed and would definitely stay there if we come back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We all got a free drink at the bar, great liquados, staff is super friendly and helpful.
