Guest Reviews
- Sachiko (8/5): - A convenient bus to Nanchang is located from the bus stop right next to the hotel. Large supermarkets are also nearby. It's not as crowded as Mong Kok, so it's easy to walk. I'm happy to have the service where you can store your luggage after checking out. The staff are friendly. I'll use it again.
- Martin (6/5): - Small rooms
- Verified traveler (4/5): - wi-fi
- Chilai (8/5): - Ok
- Kembo (4/5): - Too many people smoking in their rooms when they are not supposed to
- Verified traveler (4/5): -

- Suet Ying (10/5): -
- Pui Kei (2/5): -
- Kam Mei (6/5): -

- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Sam (10/5): - Staff is very nice i like to much my check in time is 3pm but i arrived in hotel 11am same time staff give to me room very nice staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Joseph (8/5): - its okay
- Morgan (2/5): - Poor place
- phillip (8/5): Know what you are expecting and you will be OK. - Hotel is as expected from the reviews. Very good stay taking cost into account.
If you want to save some money and are willing to accept the compromises I would recommend this hotel. I picked this hotel because the same weekend, just about all the hotels around doubled their prices for some event. This one did not, so I gave this hotel a try.
Compromises are:
the .location is about 3 blocks farther from the mtr,
Rooms are very small,
Closer to being a hostel,
An older hotel, but still clean, and
Bed is more firm.
So, if you know what you will be getting, like a place to get a good night sleep, and want to save some real money, go for this place.
It got my musts:
In room safe and coffee and safe.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This hotel or I should say they call apartment was designed for local clients and nor international. Their Television has only one Chinese station and when we asked them about this they said that their hotel is for locals and not designed for international tourist, Their location is something not desirable for International tourist, even the taxi driver that we rode to get there was unfamiliar and barely able to drop us off one block from where the hotel was located.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok hotel. Cigarette smell is a problem - A quite area. Services are good and helpful. The hotel can’t contral the smoking situation. A smoke free place with strong cigarette smell in some rooms.
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Uncomfortable bed - I would not recommend to stay it in this hotel until they will upgrade the uncomfortable mattress.
I can't sleep at night and I can feel the spring from the mattress, it is very uncomfortable!
- WING CHUN (8/5):
- Gabor (8/5): Good location, Nice staff, clean room. - - This was the second stay in this hotel for me. I liked this again. The room was pretty god much bigger then a normal Mong Kok room. Only the Internet was sometime very slow and the Cable Net did not work. The rest was great. The room is clean, they provided 2-3 bottle of water every day. Good choice
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a great place if you’re traveling on a budget. The location is great, near a major MTR stop and lots of local places to eat. The rooms were clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful. My only real complaint was that the mattresses may be due for replacing and I felt some of the springs. But it wasn’t the most uncomfortable bed I’ve slept in either. Over all it was a very pleasant stay and I would book this hotel again if I go back to Hong Kong.
- San Keung (10/5): -
Asia Miles
- JACK (10/5): SOLO TRAVELER - Good size of room for staying few weeks and quiet area.
- Gabor (10/5): Clean room, friendly staff - I was very satisfied with this hotel. Everybody was helpful and friendly. The location is pretty good because the MTR station is only 5 minutes. There are some restaurants and small shops also. Only one thing which was pretty bad. The WiFi is incredibly slow but I could ask a cable at the reception.
- Frederick (10/5): V P Hotel thumbs up! - very agreeable. The room service people were attentive and very pleasant. Overall s good experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The shower area is a bit small, the floor is not very clean.
- JACK (10/5): My favorite hotel. - This is my 3rd time staying this hotel for passing 3 years and still my best choice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - competitive price. generally clean. polite and helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is located between 2 mtr stations which may be not the most convenient to many. The bed sheet was not changed until the third day of my stay which I found a bit unbearable.
- Epeli (4/5): - Staff were nice just thought it was far from mongkok mtr unlike advertised but was okay for a night.Clean room
- Michael (8/5): Cheap but definitely NOT nasty - I need a bed and bathroom for one night in Kowloon and this one was the closest and cheapest available.
From previous experience in HK I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of the facilities.
It not flash, has all the basic needs and was the best sleep I'd had in days.
The bed was harder than most white fellas would be used too but I slept like a log.
AC worked, bathroom was clean, hot water with good pressure, everything was functional and well maintained.
Bottelled water, coffee and tea, fridge, TV and wifi all working to acceptable standards.
- traveler (8/5): Not bad for one person stay - Small room but good enough for one person. The facilities are old but clean. (The pillow has old blood mark, see picture.)
There are desk, chair, refrigerator, safe box, cabinet etc. You have what you need.
Make sure you are aware :
- its entrance is at Maple St., not at Lai Chi Kok Rd as the address;
- you need to pay HK$500 deposit with cash or credit card at check-in, and it is refunable at check-out;
- there is no 110V outlet, and you must prepare the adapter for the HK standard power outlet;
Overall, it is not bad.
- Lei (6/5): Noisy location with unpleasant experience. - The manager upon my arrival was rude in attitude with my input on the hotel's policy for mandatory authorisation in the deposit of HK500 dollars.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Big hotel - Thank you again. Great location and easy access to and from the airport.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mong Kok Gem - Great place to stay. Neighborhood just off the beaten path so no surprises. I would stay here again.
- christine (6/5): - Tiny room for 2. Paid exorbitantly because of New Year eve
- Pakin (8/5): Convenient hotel, slightly far from MTR station - Nice room although a bit small, but worth a price. Staff are nice and helpful. WiFi a bit unstable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great value for the price - Very good location at a fair price, has all the features a traveler would need. This a small hotel at the heart of the city and is quite.
- richard (4/5): Bathroom was clean- thats all I can say. - Rates change all the time in Hong Kong - the time I got the room rates were up - so if you paid very little for the room than ok - other than that no - I would not stay there again - I was there for one night only- nothing so bad just not like a real hotel/ room
- Verified traveler (2/5): Budget Hotel - Bed was small and very hard. Room was very tiny. Staff were frendly
- Gordon Ho (6/5): OK for its price. - For the price I cannot complain much. The location was decent. 10mins walk from Prince Edward station.
It is also quiet and the rooms is ok. Only 2 complains.
blood stained hotel towels.... I stayed for 3 nights, and had my towels replaced with room service and somehow I still got another blooded towel.. Makes me think that they don't even check and throw them. Quite a turn off.
The bed is also not the most comfortable. the size is small but for any hk apartment or hotel it is understandable. but it felt like the bed was compromised in terms of quality. It feels so airy with no springs or support. A weird feeling.
Overall, 3/5 if all the hotels surrounding are expensive, u can still go for this. Just don't expect much.
- PUI KUM (10/5): Very clean hotel . - This is the 4th time stay at this hotel , area pretty quiet at night and very helpful staffs .
- Bryan (8/5): - Easy location near Prince Edward MTR station. Good option for a cheaper place to stay but not far away from any main attractions so great overall.
- Peter (8/5): Pleasant for a short stopover - My stay was comfortable, and the location was accessible by A21 Express Airbus from HKIA. The room was small, as is typical in Hong Kong, and the TV had limited English-language channels.
There was no breakfast available at the hotel, but there were many local cafes and restaurants.
- OREN (10/5): - great reception service, very understanding and helpful.
- terrance (6/5): - good budget hotel, the staff was very helpful for directions and tourist information
- Verified traveler (10/5): - helpful staffs.and clean hotel.
- Peter (8/5): Not bad for the price - The hotel was good for the price. My only complaint was that there was no closet. But at that price, I can't really complain.
- A Jay (6/5): Reasonable hotel in good area. - Very reasonable hotel in good area.
- sue (6/5): Basic hotel - Just what's needed if your going to be out allday exploring Hong Kong and just need somewhere to stay. It's a very basic room but has everything needed for a good price. The wifi wasn't great though.
- Randy (6/5): Smokers paridise - They let people smoke in this hotel. Other than that it was fine
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cleanliness of room is quite good.
Hotel location is nearby MTR.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great little hotel except for not turning the heat on in January.
- Xing (2/5): NEVER NEVER NEVER GO THERE - HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE, VERY BAD LOCATION, VERY INCONVENIENT, NO RESTAURANTS AROUND, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER CARE, BAD MANAGEMENT. EXTREMELY TINY BATHROOM THAT YOU WILL HIT YOUR ELBOWS WHEN TRYING TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH, THE ROOM ITSELF IS FOR HOBBITS, NOT FOR PEOPLE. SMELLS LIKE URINE, LOUD AND RUDE PEOPLE ALL AROUND. NEVER HAD AN HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS, JAIL CELL IS MORE LIKE IT.
- Robin (6/5): - The air-conditioning was very noisy, sounded like a washing machine being on all the time. Good thing we were here over the coldest weekend in 60 years, and barely turned the air-con on. There was no heater that we could borrow, so we had to crawl under 3 comforters to keep warm. The bed, which was flushed against the wall got wet with condensation, and the front desk told us we weren't the only ones to tell them that. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, also the room was very clean. The E21 bus, which costs HKD14 a head, gets you to the airport in about 70 mins and is just a short walk from the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): lam - very good location and helpful staffs.
- Alexander (2/5): Bad place, misleading advertising - The room is very small. I do not believe that staff ever clean the floor during my 8 days stay.
- Chee (6/5): Small room, but normal for budget hotel? - location is fine, about 10 minutes walk to metro. Hotel room is small, ok for a few days stay.
- john (8/5): A simple, small decent budget hotel - Pros: clean room; unexpectedly convenient location so getting anywhere is a breeze; nice staff -- courteous, helpful and considerate; value for money
Cons: tiny room; almost no foyer
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not bad - As a 3-star hotel, I didn't expect too much. Luckily, rooms are clean. It's very important to me. Staff is quite helpful.
- Derek (6/5): - It's a comfortable hotel with reasonable price. The only issue is the shower place is too small.
- K (8/5): Reasonably Priced Accommodation - Given past experience with other hotels in the general area, this by far is the best value for the money. Basically, everything that I needed were there and adequately provided. It met my expectations in comfort as well as space requirement as a traveler.
- JACK (10/5): A nice stay - Very helpful staffs and very clean hotel room.
- Richard (6/5): very poor service!! not recommended!! - when i asked for sugar for my tea, they replied to me that they don't have sugar..and also i asked for a clean cups, they told me to wash the used cups on the room..very poor customer service!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Thoughtful staff, value for money stay! - Check in time was 3pm, but thankful that the hotel staff were very friendly to take care of my luggage, took down my HK mobile number and gave me a call once the room was ready, earlier than expected! I really appreciate that thoughtfulness from them! Room was clean, practical and the location was very convenient (Macdonald's and huge supermarket directly opposite).
I will be happy to stay here again, value for money place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): solo traveler. - Staying for 3 weeks in this hotel and no complain at all.
- Mawien (10/5): Nice hotel close to the market. - My experience was very good, and I'm glad I stayed there. It's quite, easy to walk to shopping places and transportations.
- joey (10/5): the best - Room was nice.....everything you need in tearms in accomodation VP was the best. Easy to ride the going to the central of hongkong, even going to the star ferry station where located the Hong Kong museum
- Andrew (10/5): Kowloon gem - Great location. A little noisy but understandable given it's excellent location. Highly recommended
- Katie (8/5): Comfortable hotel close to shopping/transportation - I enjoyed my stay at VP Hotel. The owner was awesome and was great with directions and giving suggestions of what to do. I was a little worried we would be far from public transportation and everything, but we lucked out. This hotel, though kinda on the outskirts, was only a 10-15min walk from the Prince Edward MRT station, and actually, when we first arrived, we got to the hotel from Mongkok station pretty quickly, with bags in tow! Enough about location, it is in a good spot. Check. The hotel looks unassuming from outside, the corner is under construction and the entrance is actually around the corner on Maple. But once inside, it's pretty nice, and small. The room, a double (2 twin beds), was not huge, which was to be expected, but actually more space than we thought. The room was very clean. There was soap, towels, and water bottles at the ready. The room had an armoire and a mini fridge. Overall, a pleasant space and experience. To balance the review, the bad things were the beds are not the most heavenly and when it is so hot, it isn't fun to walk so far to get to the hotel.
- Mawien (8/5): Nice hotel close to the markets. - I love the place, because it is close to accommodation and I can walk 10 minutes to Mongkok.
- Adam (10/5): second stay - this was my second stay in this hotel and was as good as the previous. the hotel and rooms are in a good new condition with no issues.
- JH (6/5): Good location , but can be improved - The location of the hotel is very convenient, about 10 to 12 minutes walk to the nearest subway station, the room we had was small, for 2 persons, with luggages, there was very little room to fully open up the luggage or to move around. And one side of the bed is against the wall. The wash room is very small, but the shower was good. As for the bed, the sheets were not changed during our stay of not a few nights. We stayed in the 8th floor, the highest, but still we can hear noises from the street with our windows closed, but this is not unusual in HK, unless one stays in a very luxury hotel.
- Jesse (10/5): Clean, safe, and relatively quiet - Great place! 5-10 minute walk to Prince Edward station (depends on how fast you walk). Honk Kong is a great city. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a slightly bigger room, a fridge, and a clean and quiet environment after a long and hectic day navigating the crowds.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value - This hotel was great for the money. Good bed, internet, bathroom, and a little more space than other hotels or apartments at similar prices. It's also exceptionally clean. The location provides good access to West Kowloon and the MTR.
- Beata (8/5): Value for money - Good value of money. Rooms are bit small, but I guess you can't find a bigger size in Hong kong for that money. The hotel is located 5 min walk to Nathan road and fabric market.Overall had a pleasant stay
- MOHAMED (8/5): nice hotel in a nice place... - small room but nice hotel...
near to mtr prince edward...
many shops,convinience store & restaurants...
got 1 halal restaurant,10 minutes walk....
friendly hotel receptionist...
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice little hotel. - The hotel is little but clean. Only the location is not that great.
It's a bit noisy in the morning. You could hear the traffic on the
street.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel is OK - Nice
- Alex (10/5): You can't complain about this hotel. - For what you pay for a short stay at this hotel is just perfect.
Don't expect a great view as you're facing other building blocks across the street.
My only bad point is the beds are too hard so couldn't really relax properly. Hopefully they will change that by the next time I book there.
- Johnny Pun (10/5): nice experience - this hotel is neat the people are friendly but the rm.we stay is not quiet mostly can hear the vehicles outside.but in total they r good clean and friendly.keep it up!
- Erick (6/5): Cozy but practical ! - Quick overnight in HK. It was an ok room - small (then again so are many hotels in HK) but worked for a brief stay. The walls and windows are thin so prepare for much noise from the street (or any loud neighbours).
- Verified traveler (2/5): No one should stay here!! - This was the worst place I've ever stayed. Not even cows should stay here.
The staff is cold and unreceptive. There's a gentleman there, who seems to be the owner of the hotel/father of the kids who help run the front desk- yes, the kids work there too- univiting youngsters- who do not seem really to understand customer service. The gentleman is kind and willing but was too busy, when I stayed, helping with construction on site. There was constant drilling and hammering and noise everywhere.
The rooms are small and amenities basic. In most places, toilet and bathroom facilities are clearly marked and distinct -well not in this 'hotel'. All that separates the toilet from the shower is a horrible old shower curtain- no ledge, no wall- nothing. So of course, after shower the whole area is wet and messy!!! And not even a foot towel to step on after shower. the rooms- the flooring is not carpeted. The size of the room is beyond tiny- there's really no where to leave your luggage- the closet space is a joke!!!
And then the surrounding area. The hotel may possibly be in the worst part of town. But say the area is 'what it is'- the hotel doesn't try to provide any respite from the unattractiveness outside. Please for god sake DO NOT stay here.
- Dip Dasgupta (8/5): A very practical hotel near to the city centre - The hotel lift is ner to our room-it was very convenient. All facilities are nearby including airport bus. Rooms are small but acceptable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel - Good restaurants nearby. Near supermarkets. Short walk to MTR. Good room size & clean.
- francisca (10/5): Excellent value for the price - We stayed there for 2 nights and thought the hotel was great. Location was awesome - close to metro and some convenient stores. The room and bathroom were small - but that's what we expected in Hong Kong. Bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Customer service was very good - we wanted to book a floating restaurant dinner but couldn't figure out the Chinese website. We emailed in advance to the hotel and they immediately helped us out. We will likely stay here again on our next Hong Kong trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very satisfying - VP was better than I expected for the price. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful although their English was not too good. Of course for the price there were some drawbacks. The room was a bit small and the hotel lacked the plusher amenities, e.g., fitness center, variety of choices on TV (one English-language channel). The location is not particularly convenient. .It's definitely a 15 or 20 minutes walk from the Prince Edward subway station, including time to cross busy streets. (Take exit C at the subway station, turn left for 3 or 4 blocks to Lai Chi Kok Road, turn right for 3 or 4 blocks and VP is on the left side of the road with the entrance around the corner on Maple St.) There's a Wellcome grocery store and a Circle K convenience store nearby. This is where I will stay the next time I go to Hong Kong
- Arjan (6/5): Good location - Location on walking distance to mtr stations. Easy to find although other stories in reviews. Only a small 2 bedded room but clean, nice shower and toilet. Not to much noise. Surrounding Kowloon has the China vibes, the other Hongkong, lot of small shops, restaurants and even nice bars to stay. Markets are in walking distance 20-30 min. Staff was okay.
Beds had hard matrasses, not to comfortable. Seems a bit overpriced but that's Hongkong. We would go to VP again.
