Guest Reviews
- Joel (10/5): - We really enjoyed staying at the WC Lipe Mansion - very comfortable for us. The mansion is beautifully maintained, and the breakfasts were unsurpassed.
- D (10/5): - Beautifully maintained bnb. Hosts could not be more accommodating. Breakfasts are superb!
- Susan (10/5): Wonderful experience - We were there only one night, but our host Robert made sure we had a lovely time. The mansion and grounds are beautiful, the room large and cozy, and the breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone except those with little kids.
- Anne (10/5): - It was a trip back in time! Lovely historic mansion conveniently located near the university and Armory neighborhoods. Gracious and accommodating staff made us feel at home. Take advantage of the bountiful breakfast. Stay here if you're looking for a unique experience that offers a glimpse into the past.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing breakfast. Super comfortable bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff and nice accomodations. Breakfast was personal and well prepared. Neighborhood location questional neighbors but no problems.
- Joyce (8/5): In town and wanted to stay in a mansion - Place is worth a stay. Quiet at night on a Tuesday however street construction in the morning( not the proprietor’s fault) was annoying and woke us vacation girls up at 6am. Place was spacious and worth a visit.
- Jim (8/5): - Very nice, comfortable, and unique room with kitchen and washer/dryer
- thomas (10/5): - Terrific service, they went out of their way to make our trip better even after we left. We discovered a missing wallet and they not only searched our room they went to the park where we spent our morning and found it!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Charming alternative to chain hotels in Syracuse - I love the quirky charm of this B and B. Second time staying when dropping off my daughter at Syracuse and much prefer it to a chain hotel. Reasonable price, short easy drive to campus, and a fun frozen in time vibe. Nice breakfast although the coffee served with it could be better. Comfy bed, clean, updated bathroom, love the in room fridge and keurig, new wifi is really fast. Not ideal if you want walkability to shops, etc. but this wasn't an issue for me as I'm simply driving to and from campus. I will stay again!
- Larry (10/5): Great B&B experience in NY! - Beautiful mansion, loaded with interesting history. Staff was attentive and professional and prepared an amazing breakfast.
As far as accommodations go, this was the highlight of our week-long east coast trip!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect. The Mansion is absolutely beautiful!!! My husband and I feel so welcomed. The attention to details is greatly appreciated. Fresh flowers, champagne, and the owner is just delightful. Well done 😀
- Los (10/5): Excellence with a hint of nostalgia - Robert and staff are excellent hosts. Robert greeted us with a friendly tour of the Mansion. The beds are comfy, big fluffy towels, WI-FI service is fast, the breakfast is outstanding, better than a restaurant. Grounds and home is well maintained. The art, stained glass and furniture are beautiful. We had a wonderful stay.
- Steven (10/5): Love this place! - Absolutely fantastic! Great service wonderful staff!
- ada (10/5): - I had a very comfortable 2-night stay. Robert has done an amazing job bringing the house to life - beautiful stained glass, tasteful period furniture. He was a great host - courteous, friendly and helpful. I had to head out before breakfast hours one morning and he packed me a to-go bag with a delicious breakfast sandwich, fruit, hot coffee, and a to-go cup. I was so grateful (especially for the coffee!).
- karen (10/5): - It was for our annual United Methodist Conference being held at the nearby Onondaga Community College-easy to get to from the WC Lipe Mansion. The breakfasts and service was top-notch. I would certainly go again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderfully serene and homey...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beuatiful & unusual hotel experience. the owner upgraded us to a king suite at no extra charge. We were visiting family so we actually needed less services than a normal hotel guest - regretted not taking advantage of all that Lipe Mansion offered!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful early 1900's mansion. Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice B&B close to Syracuse University - Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The daily breakfast was wonderful. Will definitely book here again.
- Cecile (10/5): 💕 One of the best B&B out there! - Enjoyed the stay very much! Highly recommend it! Staff was hospitable and it had really nice cozy rooms. The made to order hot breakfast was a very nice treat. We will be coming back to this place on our next visit!
- Marvin (10/5): - Wonderful B&B. Best breakfast ever at a B&B.
- Raymond (10/5): Stay in early 20th century elegance. - The Lipe Mansion is a lovely turn of the century house, yet it still has all the modern amenities - WiFi, TV, private bath microwave and fridge. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood close to downtown. The breakfasts are sumptious and made to order. The staff is very attentive. The large common area is ideal for relaxing and reading and includes a sitting room with comfortable period sofas and stuffed chairs, and a library.. There is ample off-street parking. The decor is original early 20th century and feels very warm and homey. Each guest room has it's own lock plus you're given a key to the front door, so you can come and go easily. This is a wonderful alternative to a modern sterile hotel.
- James (10/5): AMAZING PLACE - OPERATED BY WONDERFUL SOULS - It is difficult to say in words how great this environment and operation is. It was perfect for us and was exactly what we were looking for. We had an amazing experience. The host Robert (and Jacob) are wonderful people. WC Lipe Mansion has captured and maintained an era providing a clean, organized and extremely well thought out structure. Best way to say this is that they make you feel more than welcome and if there was anything that one wanted or needed you just have to ask. Cheers to Robert, Jacob and company and thank you for making our journey and adventure excellent by providing us the best possible basecamp imanginable!
- Sandy (10/5): Downtown Syracuse - Such an amazing place to stay. Great food, great people, great rooms. SUPER clean and comfortable with incredible history. We will be back!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hope to return - Very nice, comfortable accomodations. Beautiful house. Delicious breakfast.
- Daryl (8/5): Funky in a Good Way - This was a fun find. We were visiting the area to check out colleges and needed something for 3 people. This was funky and worked well. I would return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will go back and stay there again! - Apart from the sketchy nearby neighborhood, it was wonderful!! Robert and Marty (host and server "extraordinaire!") were very hospitable and gave us their utmost attention. We LOVED the mansion itself--its history, windows, porch, structure, furnishings, etc. Breakfast was beautiful and delicious!! Made to order-yum! Tour by Robert was great-Would love to tour the carriage house!
- David (10/5): Great, friendly B&B in Syracuse - This family owned B&B is in a beautifully renovated historic mansion located close to downtown and Syracuse University. Owner Robert Gutierrez and his staff were incredibly helpful and gracious, picking us up at the airport and taking care of our every need. When our flight was cancelled, necessitating our staying an extra night in Syracuse, he came back to the airport to pick us up and gave us a great deal on the extra night’s stay. The suite was beautifully decorated, and the entire mansion looked like something out of a novel. They also served us lovely and delicious breakfasts. We will be staying there again whenever we find ourselves in Syracuse.
- becky (6/5): Great location - Disappointed in welcoming reception, stay at a B n B every year for at least 3 to 4 nights, a girl trip. Decided to book a B n B for my husband and I for a trip to NY. Took awhile for owner to greet us at the locked front door, when I let him know when we would arrive. Usually you are offered a welcoming drink of some kind. The only other person. We met was our morning breakfast server whom was very sweet and accommodating. We stayed in the spa suite. It was nice, but dropped one of my husbands pills and had to search for it and found it was completely filthy underneath the furniture, which was really disappointing to see, because I kind of was worried whether the sheets were really freshly cleaned.
- John (10/5): Great historic stay. - The service was friendly and very accommodating. There are great restaurants nearby. Breakfast was excellent. The room was very clean and cozy. We will be back in the future.
- Misha (10/5): Really enjoyable stay - Came with my wife and our dog for a weekend getaway. It was a great, great experience all the way through. We hope to come back when we have a chance.
Thank you Robert! You hospitality was greatly appreciated!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Booked the suite and it was way better than any hotel stay I had previously. Felt like my own apartment and staff were very welcoming and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hosts.
- Jessica (10/5): I never wanted to leave!! - The staff was unbelievably considerate and made our stay comfortable. The room was cozy and clean. I recommend this mansion to anyone in the area looking for a place to stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place amazing service - Enjoyed a great deal
- Cleland (10/5): The Lion King and then a night in a Mansion! - We were in Syracuse to see The Lion King. The location was very easy to find off of I90 and it was easy to get to the Landmark Theater. The host was very pleasant and spent time with us talking about the mansion and the surrounding area. I would recommend this B&B to fellow travelers.
- Martin (8/5): Antique House different type of stay - Given the bad weather it was nice to watch a silent movie
The only negative was that the place was mostly empty
- Bob (10/5): Great Place to Stay - This is a great place to stay, especially if you are going to some event at Syracuse Univ. Robert and his staff cannot do enough for you. The breakfasts are super, rooms large and comfortable. It is just 10 minutes from Syracuse U. and the Carrier Dome.
- marybeth (10/5): WC Lipe - The WC Lipe Mansion is a beautiful B & B. It is well maintained and very comfortable to stay in. Robert & staff make sure you have everything you need. The breakfasts are to die for - fresh fruit and made to order eggs. There is nothing that could have made the stay better.
- John (10/5): great mansion stay. - The location is an historic early 20th century mansion. The place is furnished in early turn of the century furnishings. Our stay was amazing. The service was excellent. We stayed in the guest house which is seperate from the main house. Breakfast was served in the suite. The room has all the amenities including a Jacuzzi tub and a massage table. The suite has Wi-Fi, charging ports, and a full kitchen. If you're in Syracuse, the lippe mansion is the place to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Old world charm - Robert is amazing! He paid attention to every detail. The breakfast was delicious too.
- JC (10/5): 5 Star! - Robert and Marty are excellent hosts! Not one detail missed in making our stay unique and memorable!
- Alan (10/5): Back in time Mansion excellent... - What a wonderful time we had at the WC Lipe mansion . Staff, Robert was awesome a wealth of knowledge. The breakfast was super made with great detail. Will be coming back again THANKS.
- Maureen (10/5): Great B&B; good location - We loved this B&B. We were delighted to stay here, we only wished we could have stayed longer. We will make this a destination B&B and come back specifically to stay here. The owner/manager was incredibly gracious, and even upgraded our room because we "had a long day of travel" which was made even longer by flight delays due the weather . The breakfast was just wonderful. Highly recommend this B&B.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing experience in a beautiful mansion with great history. Historical and modern.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Antique Charmer in Syracuse - The Lype Mansion was the perfect overnight before dropping my daughter off at Syracuse. It's less than 10 minutes from campus, in a leafy residential area. Loved the old world charm vs. a sterile chain hotel. We had a lovely breakfast on the front porch. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The only small issues were that the coffee was very weak, and there aren't any restaurants within walking distance. But I would definitely stay here again.
- John & Belinda (10/5): A Wonderful find on a long trip north to Canada. - The host was very welcoming, the sleeping quarters were spacious and beautiful. The breakfast was healthy and tasty. Well done! Highly recommended. We stayed with two of our teenage children.
- Patrick (10/5): A Night to Remember - It was awesome! From the initial walkthrough of this unique historic mansion to the many unique and interesting features throughout, the awesome Jacuzzi, shower and most comfortable bed we've been in a very long time, this one night was truly a night to remember. Thank you Robert and staff!
- Barb (2/5): Dirty room in a bad neighborhood! - We stayed here on the way home from a lovely trip on the east coast. We were so looking forward to this stop, especially since it stated this was upscale accommodations. This house is dead center in a blighted neighborhood, full of falling down and otherwise boarded up buildings. I was afraid the entire time. The common areas are decorated beautifully. The rooms, however, were a dump. The bathroom had mildew stains on the ceiling and shower. Our white socks were black from dirty floors. There was missing molding and the windows were filthy. I do not believe there was a "spa" there. When I reviewed the condition of my room, the owner claimed it was because we arrived too early. We arrived at the pre-arranged time of 3:00 pm. I feel like we were taken advantage of and ripped off. Unfortunately, this was an expensive mistake. I do not believe this hotel is ready yet to accept customers.
- Kathy (10/5): Classy Victorian Mansion - This beautifully appointed mansion is a wonderful place to stay. Mr. Gutierrez, the proprietor, is welcoming and responsive to the needs of his guests. He shares the history of the mansion and information about the Lipe family.
The breakfast he makes is outstanding, served in an elegant room that transports you back in time. I felt safe, secure and pampered.
- Britney (10/5): Wonderful, romantic stay. - I had planned this stay as a surprise for my fiancés birthday. I had been exchanging emails with the owner about ny arrival time vs. my fiancés and how the surprise would work out. They were so helpful and made our stay that much more special by providing a bottle of champagne, and showing me how every special feature in the carrige house worked for me so everything went smoothly. The room was romantic and clean and so comfrotable that we slept like babies. The breakfast in the morning was made to order eggs or omelettes, with a seasonal fruit amd it was delicious. My fiancé is very into history so we got a tour and the history of the place after breakfast. We already have plans to come back next year for both our birthdays, and I can't thank the wonderful owner and staff enough.
- JACOBUS G (8/5): beautiful gem with a gracious host - Robert is the most gracious host. We were unfortunately quite late however he was still up when we arrived making sure that we were ok and would have no trouble getting our suitcases up. The suite is very comfortable for one family. Next morning we had a wonderful breakfast where careful attention was paid to our sons food allergy conditions.
By turning it into a bed and breakfast this special house has been restored and preserved for future generations. Unfortunately that is not the case for many other Victorian houses in Syracuse.
- Monica (10/5): Dream Home Away From Home... - This historical landmark is beautifully maintained and the ambiance is superb. Classic AND comfortable. Robert Gutierrez and his staff are wonderfully attentive without being intrusive, and they've been able to add many updated amenities to the rooms without sacrificing the incredible old world charm, style and architecture. There is also a lovely choice of various rooms and suites for individuals, couples or small groups. Robert's custom breakfasts are truly a treat. This is my dream home away from home when I'm in Syracuse. Already booking my next visit...
- travelguy1 (8/5): Nice hotel close to downtown - easy check in, departure.
friendly staff
great breakfast
- david (10/5): Mansion with style... - Robert (one of the owners) gave me a tour of the home. It was terrific. Lots of history to the property. He also cooked a fantastic breakfast!
- Wendy (6/5): Looks cam be deceiving - I had reserved the carriage house to get ready for my wedding and also wedding night stay. Initially I was put off by the motorized chair for the stairs leading upstairs and there was a noticeable musty smell, until you were upstairs and there are various air freshers through out. I was also put off as the trash cans were full and sheets were being dried in the dryer. The hot tub was broken, and although Robert was quick to come over to assess it and stated he would have it repaired the next day, it was not fixed. The next morning I found thay my son s doughnut box had been pilfered by a mouse as a large hole was eaten through the box and several of them were chewed up. The night of the wedding there was a young group of people sitting at a table right outside thay were being very loud at 9 30 at night. The next day we went over for breakfast and although the food was great it was very awkward as we were the only two there and my husband was interested in asking more about the mansions history but Robert hightailed it to the kitchen and didn't come back out as we ate. As we were leaving we did open a door at the bottom of the steps and found what was causing the musty smell..tons of junk piled up everywhere, which is sad as the upstairs really does look beautiful, but guess looks can be deceiving.
- Julia (10/5): You won't regret this!!! - My daughter had surgery and I kept extending my stay so that she could have a wonderful place to rest and recover. Robert and his family were amazingly accommodating....can't say enough about how great this was for my daughter and me.
- Steve (8/5): I and my family really liked this place. - We stayed in the "Carriage House" part of this B&B and loved it. Very upscale looking.
Our only complaints were that some of the sundry items they listed as being stocked actually weren't there and there really should have been typed directions for the shower (yes I'm serious) and the jacuzzi.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful historical home! - We were upgraded to our own private guesthouse for most of our stay. The amenities were great! Anything we needed & asked for was provided for us.
- BoulderTraveler (10/5): Elegant, conveniently located B & B - I was looking for a quiet, spacious B & B for an overnight stay in Syracuse and noticed outstanding reviews for the WC Lipe Mansion. Everything I read online from previous guests who recommended this inn turned out to be spot on. I stayed in the Carriage House which was absolutely beautiful and room enough for a family of 4. The amenities included a full kitchen, living room and dining room and elegant steam shower and jacuzzi tub. Robert is a wonderful host and the breakfast he prepared was delicious. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit the Syracuse area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful mansion, very friendly owners - A lovely house in a quiet neighborhood of Victorian houses. You will need a car or taxi to reach the center of town.
- Carol (10/5): This mansion is a must! - This is such a find-we never wanted to leave the room. We were kindly upgraded to the coach house which was just fabulous. Robert and his staff could not have been more gracious and hospitable. The mansion has a great history and it was so interesting. The breakfasts were out of this world!
- mark (10/5): Step back in time to the Queen Anne Victorian era - The WC Lipe Mansion is a beautiful and spacious Queen Anne victorian with original woodwork, stained glass windows and layout. Robert is a wonderful host and the breakfasts were top-notch!
- Gregory (10/5): Could not have been more pleased - The house was beautiful, and the breakfast was absolutely perfect. The location turned out to be ideal, too.
- Nancy (10/5): Beautiful B&B - The architecture of the mansion is exquisite. Robert, the owner and host, was gracious and wonderful.
- Doug (8/5): Great breakfast and great location - Amazing hospitality. The owner is available to ensure you have a great stay.
- CMSGK (10/5): We loved our stay! - Our room was very nice, our breakfasts were incredible, and the house is so beautiful. We even had somewhere to park, which is a great thing in this area. We appreciated having a TV and wifi, which you don't always find at B&Bs. Robert is so nice and very accommodating to our schedule. If we are ever in the area again, this is where we want to stay.
- Debra (8/5): Nice stay!! - Very nice house. Lots of character and charm. Extremely quiet room and a fabulous breakfast! Owner is very accommodating!
- David (10/5): Perfect Getaway! - We stayed for one night as a getaway and it was perfect. Robert was a terrific host and everything for our stay was provided.
- John (10/5): very nice - very nice
- Mustafa (10/5): Great and unique bed and breakfast experience - Robert is a great host and he will make sure that you are welcomed and taking care off. I asked him for a late checkout (around 4 pm) and I was willing to pay extra for that. Robert didn't charge me anything and said since no one reserved the room I was s staying in it's fine and I can leave whenever I want! You will never get this kind of hospitality in your regular hotel chains.
- elke (10/5): outstanding!! - It was a great stay at the Mansion. The owner Robert took time to give me a house tour and even explained the history of the house after I asked them to sit with me during breakfast.
Breakfast outstanding ,even my colleague was invited to join me (for free) I loved the charm the house had to offer. I felt like in my grandmas house which was exactly what I needed after a long day of work.
- Konstantinos (10/5): Fantastic place - This is a great hotel, one of the best I have been to. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the room was great and everything was perfect and exceeded my expectations. I totally recommend staying there, and if I ever return to the city, it will be definitely my hotel of choice.
- Cheryl (10/5): Beautiful historic mansion in the heart of Syracus - Robert, our host, was attentive to our every need, prepared delectible breakfasts every morning...ask for he's homemade scones and made sure our accommodations were exactly what we reserved or more. We would recommend staying here any season because Robert makes you feel like part of the family.
