- Darin (10/5): Resturant bar hotel all in one. - Room was clean and tidy as always and had a patio door. Attached to hotel it a good Resturant and a cozy little bar. When I am working in this area I go out of my way to stay here.

- Heather (6/5): - The rooms did not have enough light. Three dim lamps and no overhead light in the entry area. More frustratingly, there was not a light in the toilet/shower room. The only bathroom light was in the sink area that didn’t have a door so every time anyone would go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the light would wake everyone up. The floors on the steps had food crumbs on them for three days. There was no elevator. But the beds were really nice. They were firm but also soft, very comfortable.

The downside...my nine-year old wanted to swim. The pool and hot tub were freezing. The pool needs major maintenance and should just be shut down and not advertised. The paint was chipping. Just gross.

- Denise (8/5): - Very clean inside the room, outside on the property, and inside in the common areas. That's very important to me. The staff were helpful and responsive. Decent breakfast. I would definitely stay here again, in fact this is my second time here. I especially like the patio entrance to the room. You can park right at your room and come in and out easily. I find that very convenient and I feel safe with this option in Carroll. I wouldn't stay in this type of room in, say, Chicago, but here it's great. The property doesn't get five stars for these things: no elevator. The bed isn't comfortable for me; you may find it is for you. The ADJUSTABLE shower head is seven feet up on the wall, so while I would love to adjust the shower flow style, it's impossible for me, thus rendering it useless for me. I think it would have been difficult for my 6'4" son to reach. Lastly, we booked one room, but it had a (locked) connecting door -- and paper-thin walls. The 'neighbors' were LOUD, inappropriately so, and we (and other guests) had to complain. The staff was VERY responsive to our complaints and the rowdy guests were ejected from the room (hotel?). If you plan to be noisy, or need it to be super quiet, you should mention that to the staff at the time of your booking. I definitely recommend this hotel.

- Zachary (4/5): Awful experience - Check in was smooth and easy but was all downhill from there. 1st room was 80 degrees and the AC was broken. Wasted an hour getting moved to another room. Once that fiasco was done our family was anxious to get into the pool. Unfortunately for everyone the heater was broken, water was ice cold!! No warning at all is the most frustrating thing. We were told we would be credited back for our inconveniences but they never followed through with that. Asked multiple times but nothing was done. Not a chance we would ever stay here again

- Verified traveler (2/5): Very bummed, to say the least! - Check-in was rocky, I had to provide all information again, even though I’d provided two pre authorization forms to both hotels.com and Carrollton Inn. AFTER checking in, we were informed that the pool heater wasn’t working, and that the pool had been down for “at least” three months. The pool was the entire reason we chose the hotel, so my child and I could have a fun weekend. I was beyond frustrated and then to top it all off, the air conditioning had a squeaky belt and was constantly chirping, waking up my child and myself multiple times throughout the night. There was no soundproofing even with the squeaky fan going, we could hear every door close. There wasn’t a balcony or a sliding door as advertised in the listing I paid for. There wasn’t an elevator or luggage carts. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement; with tax I wouldn’t have paid more than $70 for that very unfortunate experience!!

The breakfast area is not kept as clean as it should. Breakfast is ok but nothing to brag about having, food runs out quickly but not replaced as such. Checkout lady was not as friendly

- J1909GXtomi (2/5): Wow - Front desk staff were very inefficient, ineffective, rude, and confrontational. Both actually yelled at me both in person and on the phone. There isn’t enough competition in Carroll and they are considered the best place in town by many. Judged against other comparable facilities in 30+ years of business and pleasure travel in 46 states, canada, and mexico, this is about the most insulted and disrespected as Ive ever experienced. And every problem that caused these blow-ups was caused by the Carrollton staff incompetence. Please give us a hampton inn or holiday inn express or fairfield inn in caroll ia so we dont have to stay at the carrollton ever again. When I arrived there was a baby crying its lungs out and was obviously unattended. The first experience was with a desk clerk that was trying to help me investigate that!!! Once at my room i could hear three other conversations that I thought were in the hallway but were in other rooms. There is no insulation in the partition walls! You hear EVERYTHING Several rooms away on either side. Wow

- Tamara (4/5): - Obviously no maintenance staff exists. Outlets weren’t working, TV didn’t work, breakfast was terrible without cups or plates, unless you dug them out of the cabinets yourself. Desk staff was never available. Shower was barely functional. The room needed remodeling 20 years ago. The bed was decent, though.

Went in the room and checked the bathroom and it was nasty. They changed our room again to a room that was clean and approved. The front desk person stated she didn’t know the room was not clean for she does not work with housekeeping. Needless to say will not be staying there again.

By front desk was a damp towel witha fan blowing on it not sure why . And if you pay with cash you have to pay double the amount of the price of the room .
- Barb (4/5): - I stayed at this property a number of years ago and had no problem, but I must have stayed in a ground floor room. This time I booked a second floor room - it was just a little bit cheaper - so this is on me. But there are NO elevators in the facility, which made it harder for this 71-year-old with arthritis. I've never had to make sure a facility HAD an elevator before... When I checked in, there was no one at the reception desk. I waited 15 minutes, then called the hotel's number and was immediately put on hold - THEN the one person on duty came to the Front Desk. Also, I found (to my surprise) that housekeeping is by demand only, and it has to be requested a day in advance. Unacceptable to me and I won't be going back.

My husband who is paralyzed, was unable to get into the bathroom without dragging himself on the floor and was unable to use the shower at all for our 2 night stay. Requested to swap upon check-in only told no "suites" were available and could not be compensated.
- Lindsay (6/5): - Dirty toilet, dark room. Didn't know there wasn't an elevator. Wouldn't have picked the 2nd floor option.

- Dawn (8/5): - Would be nice if there were an elevator. Also was told I had to give my c.c. in case of damage. I told them when I checked out I wanted someone to check the room and I didn't want an open ended c.c. once I left they could charge me for anything. They wouldn't accommodate, said housekeeping knew the rooms by heart and wouldn't be in until later to check the room. This practice to me is very underhanded. I don't know what to expect.

- Scott (8/5): - I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times with the last time about 10 years ago and I think they still have the same carpet throughout the hotel. My room was great and clean. The hot breakfast was good and a good selection. I will definitely stay here when I come back.

- Passenger777604 (2/5): Terrible Experience! Tried charging us a smoking fee, and we don't smoke!! - We stayed 3 nights at the Carrollton Inn while attending a memorial service for my uncle in Iowa. During our stay, we opted not to use housekeeping services as we didn't feel it was necessary for this short stay. Prior to checkout, I reviewed the charges on my email and noticed a $250.00 cleaning charge for smoking. My wife and I do not smoke and did not ever smell smoke in the room. When I asked the front desk about this charge the housekeeper said she could smell smoke in the hallway outside our room all weekend. I advised the housekeeper and front desk staff that we do not smoke and it was not accurate to blame the odor of smoke in the hallway as coming from our room. The housekeeper then went into the room and returned to tell us that she could smell smoke in the room. I remembered seeing several employees taking smoking breaks outside the hotel. I asked the housekeeper if she smokes, and she replied "yes". I said of course she could smell smoke because it would linger on her clothes. Not a good system to have a smoking employee determine if someone smoked in their room. At the time of check out, the front desk staff never said they would remove the charge. We left feeling very taken advantage of, as if they had purposely targeted out of state guests. I told them I would be disputing the charge with my bank. A few days later I noticed the charge was credited back to my account. I have left several messages for the General Manager to call me but I have not received any call back. At a minimum, I would have expected someone to contact us during the stay to ask us if we had been smoking in the room instead of waiting until we checked out to incorrectly charge us. This could have been sorted out much more amicably.

- Bobbie (8/5): BobN - Have stayed at this location few times over the past year, plus. Staff is nice and location is clean. Most less satisfactory is the breakfast... earlier stays coffee maker broken, juice machine not completely full of choices. Most recent visit, zero waffle mix in the machine, not empty, just no mix. Hot breakfast, only patty sausage remained. (Admittedly, was there at 8:45, free breakfast concludes at 9am). Of choices available in Carroll Iowa, will remain to book reservations here despite the above.

- Janis (4/5): - No hot water and no shower pressure. They had us go to a different room to take a shower that wasn’t cleaned yet, no towels or soaps available either to use for shower.
- saydees2024 (2/5): ESA Accommodation/ Rude Service Desk Guy - Came here for work with my ESA dogs, front desk guy in the evening was beyond rude about my accommodation. Every interaction I had with the guy was him acting like he’s on his high horse. I tell him that the microwave doesn’t work and he said “I don’t just have microwaves laying around, I can use the community microwave.” Which the microwave looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks, caked on oatmeal.

- Penny (4/5): - While the room was clean, there were many things that just weren't up to par for what we paid. The remote for the TV didn't work, the bed was very uncomfortable, the a/c-heater didn't work properly, and it was very noisy. In addition, there was no elevator. While this isn't necessarily a problem, b/c there is first floor rooms, I have had some knee issues, and had I known there was no elevator, I would have stayed on the first floor; although, I would have had to pay more for that. During breakfast, the coffee machine was out of order. It just wasn't a pleasant experience, and should have stayed up the road at the Days Inn.

- Kathy J (10/5): Favorite stay in Carroll - This is my go-to place when staying in the Carroll County area. My King Jr Suite was spacious and comfortable, and I greatly appreciated the extra space for a 5-day stay. The bed was a bit on the firm side, but still comfortable, and having a sofa as an alternative to sitting on the bed was great. I also liked the close proximity of my room to the breakfast area -- it made getting coffee convenient and easier than having to make it a cup at time at 5:30 am. Only concern was the humidity in the room; because of the weird weather, I used both the AC and the heat during the week, but it always felt slightly damp. Still, I'll definitely stay here in the future.
- Pamela (4/5): Understaffed - I waited 20 minutes for a clerk to check in. Sign said helping other guests. No bell or anything like that so I just started calling them. On the 3rd call she answered and said she’d be up to check me in. Key cards didn’t work so I had to go back to the front desk. Room was fine for comfort and cleanliness. Breakfast room - garbage overflowing. Expecting one person to do the front desk and the breakfast room is too much. Checked out - they charged me for the room although I paid through hotels.com. There “shouldn’t be a charge”. I get a text when charges hit my card so showed her that I did have a charge. She Got back on the phobe with someone and then gave me an invoice showing zero due. Will be checking my credit card to be sure.
- Charlotte (4/5): - I did not like that there did not seem to be staff in the building. Bathroom needed to be updated. Bathtub was very stained and although it appeared clean, it needed replacing. IT looks like a place that houses long term working on area contstruction-type travellers. I would not stay there again.

- Carol (8/5): - Nice hotel. I would recommend getting an odd number room so that you are on the back side of the hotel. The front side is faces the highway and you can hear a lot of truck rumbling up. Nice selection for a breakfast considering the size of the space.

- Bobbie (8/5): - 2nd stay at location in past couple months, comfortable. Unfortunate no restaurant. Breakfast bar is hit or miss. Both visits, no cranberry or orange juice. 2nd this stay had juice. First day this visit, no regular coffee available, only decaf. Desk staff ok, but get feeling they would rather be somewhere else.
- 623kathyh (2/5): Do not waist you money in Carroll at this hotel - This Hotel was in terrible shape they are trying to fix it up but it’s awful there is building materials every where the carpet is terrible it’s not finished and is very out dated. In our room which was half way remolded half the walls painted and half not our sliding door to the parking lot barely opened it was so unappealing outside our door you couldnt sit outside and yet our room was depressing you didn’t want to be in there either we had just one towel each and one soap we asked for more as we thought we were staying 4 nights We wanted to leave early but would not refund anything finally we did leave one day early but we had to do that before 6 pm the day before We paid over 605.00 this was a total rip off We were there to visit family so we stayed a way as much as we could! This was supposed to be a king studio with a couch but you didn’t want to sit on it! Also was supposed to have a breakfast what a joke the milk for the cereal was sour coffee awful juice flat! This hotel is full of people working somewhere Lots of coming and going We found other places to eat we could leave there fast enough . It was a special event place but not now

- Bobbie (6/5): Restaurant is Closed - One of major reasons cancelled reservation at other local hotel was because of internal restaurant at the Carrollton Inn.... Restaurant was closed and assumed has been closed for some time... therefore the amount paid for room vs other hotels in Carroll we have stayed at, not sure was as of the value that I was expecting.
