Guest Reviews
- nicholas (8/5): - Great bar and food, however are a short walk from the restaurant/bar, not great when wet.
- Nigel (10/5): - Excellent stay
- David (10/5): - I always enjoy going back to
- Mark (10/5): - It is a very very peaceful beautiful location perfect for a restfulll break or overnight stay as we had.
- David (8/5): - Rooms are in outbuildings near car park and clubhouse.
Spacious and comfortable, chalet style.
Wi fi good,booster in room
Car park ample
Food was good, massive portion
Breakfast very nice
- Peter (6/5): - Poor food s election and expensive
- Lesley (10/5): - Very good value for money and would definitely stay there again
- Chris (10/5): - Nice location
- Brian (8/5): Good value and good food - Booked a double room but was surprised when I found out I had a lodge to stay in! It was a very warm day and the room was stifling when I opened the door. No air con and then found the radiators were on! jeez.. once cooled down the room was quite basic but value for the money. its a short walk from the lodge to the restaurant but as it was a nice day, no issues. Fodd was nice and portions huge! no need for side dishes here lol.
- Jason (8/5): Lakeside - Lodge type rooms which was extremely hot on arrival sun light blaring into room and radiator on hot - no much in the way of working space /desk
Golf facilities were good driving range & putting plus 18 hole & 9 hole pitch n putt
Food was very good generous portions
- Talbot (10/5): Good night sleep. - Business stop over. It's a nice quiet location in winter with good facilities.nice food. But check menu in bar not room for latest.
- Andrew (10/5): Lakeside Lodge - Great value for money - a quiet location within the golf course, great food in the restaurant. On site gym for guests.
- John (8/5): - Nice enough and out the way. Ideal as we are in a work van. Only issue was the shower which was a trickle!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Here for a wedding reception. Pleasant location
- Stuart (10/5): One night business stay - Spacious parking, well equipped fitness centre. The room was comfortable. Dinner was excellent. Will definitely stay again
- Christian (6/5): EV overcharging - Good quality pub type food at sensible prices. Room was comfy, if a little dated. The real downside was the EV charging. I booked this hotel so I could charge the car overnight, but the extortionate 80p per kWh with an unheard of £1.50 connection charge on a slow 7kw charger was a joke. Charged it the next morning at a Tesla supercharger for 51p kWh.
- Mr Donald (10/5): - Countryside setting. Pleasant relaxed vibe. Very good service. Used pre airshow at Duxford stop.
- Kevin (10/5): - Perfect
- Robert (10/5): Overnight stay - Pleasant and peaceful stay no disturbances overnight unlike some golf hotels
- P (8/5): - Restaurant food is excellent
- Shaun (8/5): Another Fine Stay! - We have stayed here a few times now as it is convenient for family visits. The breakfast is really good. The rooms are comfortable and warm (last days of December!).
Over the years, the management has invested in the site and it now has a gym, which we could have used if we had known about it.
Definitely planning on return visits!
- Adam (6/5): Different - Was ok. Bed was comfy. Room was noisy. Lovely place to stay though
- Russell (10/5): - Lovely and quiet.
- John (10/5): Chalets and great food! - The room was part of many chalets located at im the entrance to the resort and were very spacious and comfortable.
The food in the golf club was excellent and I would stay here again.
The golf club is a 5 minute walk away from the chalet though.
- KIRSTEN (10/5): - We had an overnight stay here as we were attending a big birthday celebration that was being held in the function room. We enjoyed the use of the pool table and bowling lanes in the afternoon as well as a lovely lunch in the clubhouse before the event and the staff were very good and attentive. We stayed in room 15 which was had all the essentials but was a little tired, carpet was ripped in places so could do with a new one or maybe a rug to cover it. Overall we had an enjoyable stay.
- Samantha (10/5): - Very friendly, clean and comfortable accommodation, breakfast was great.
- Mick (10/5): Good service - Sam was excellent in sorting hotels.com out. Would have liked a free round of golf this time of year
- Julie (6/5): - Convenient to the location we wanted but generally needed up grading. Lodges clean, but shower small and decoration from the 90s
- Leigh (6/5): Serious drop in service. - The accommodation is a bit dated but clean and warm. The receptionist was very friendly accommodating. I did have to pay for use of their gym which was quite annoying given this wasn’t mentioned when booking - unless I missed it??
Breakfast was very disappointing. The lady dealing with it seemed preoccupied with paperwork and I felt like I was being a burden. I settled on beans and scrambled eggs which I would put on toast I’d prepare. This was because a fresh full cooked would probably have taken too long. When the plate was brought out I was horrified. The eggs were uncooked and not even mixed correctly.
All in all very disappointing and nowhere near the level of service I’ve experienced here over the years.
I will swerve future stays and find new accommodation when in the area.
- Richard (6/5): - Lots of flies in the restaurant makes you worry about food hygiene and the breakfast buffet was cold. Rooms are tired the curtains are about to fall down.
- Luke (8/5): - Great food nice location useful.
- DANIEL (10/5): Great value - To be fair I booked cheap and last minute. Staff and the breakfast were great, value was fantastic, only complaints were the bed was a little uncomfortable and the shower a bit awkward for a taller person
- S (8/5): Return Visit for the New Year! - We stayed in a room for the night of New Year's Eve as we were visiting locally. We had been previously so we knew the arrangements.
The room was comfortable. The parking was easy. We did not stay up to see in the New Year but it must have been quiet as we had a good sleep.
The only downside was that breakfast was not included as the team had been given the opportunity to enjoy the holiday and we would not have had it any other way!
The grounds are lovely and we are certainly thinking of returning!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent - Stayed here for the 2nd week and it’s good value for money everytime.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beat my expectations - Free parking, good value for money, on site resturant, gym, golfing, loads of takeaways nearby on just eat, bowling alley on site, fishing lake nearby and also a tesco express nearby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Absolutely Terrible - This whole experience was very disappointing.
Firstly, when I got there I asked if my friend had arrived. I was told that I had only booked for 1. I said that i booked for 2. At no point was I told that the room would be much more expensive.
The room itself was extremely basic and in shabby condition. The furniture is tired and worn out, the carpets are the same and the bathrooms are shabby and utilitarian.
The towels and bedding was clean and white, but the double bed had two thin pillows which even when doubled up were too thin. The quilt was very thin and I had to go and get a blanket from the car.
The outside was sparse and ill-kept with weeds and very little in the way of shrubbery.
There was no hairdryer. Only enough milk and tea for 1 each, depite a two night stay.
The breakfast was a joke. The smallest self serve bar. Dirty glasses and you had to fight with the hoards of hungry golfers that were piling their plates with half the contents of the food trolley. I had to go back three times just to get an egg and then was told by the man behind me that he wanted 2 of thet 3 left. The Sunday, they ran out of eggs on a cooked breakfast.
When I checked out, I was asked for an extra £80 for the 2 breakasts that my friend had. £80.00 for 2 breakfasts. I had already paid for mine.and they insisted I pay before I could leave. A massively overpriced, shabby hotel. I was told that the manager would call me the day after to sort this, and they have not. Avoid at all costs.
- Nigel (10/5): - Loads to do clean and friendly
- Andrea (8/5): Little weekender - It rained consistently but we still managed to use the floodlit driving range, the golf course and restaurant. Although very boggy under foot and like wading through treacle. There are areas that need some attention along the walkways of the course. Very uneven but to make up for that the food was amazing. The Italian theme night on Friday was excellent
- Verified traveler (8/5): - In the middle let down by restaurant staff
- Lee (8/5): Missed sleep - The only issue I had with the room was that the fire exit light kept me awake through the night. Glowing green, why do you need this light? Can’t you just use a sign??
- Shaun (8/5): More than a Golf Centre! - We stayed in one of the rooms from New Year's Eve to New Year's Day. Our breakfast was therefore translated into a discount off lunch, which was very good. We also played ten pin bowling after lunch. There are also some large houses which are very good for groups of about five couples (as well as the golf courses).
- Verified traveler (8/5): lovely surroundings, comfortable room - Comfortable, clean and lovely surroundings. Only gripe was the mould caused by condensation in the shower room and the fact that the shower controls didn’t work and it wa salmost impossible to get temperature acceptable
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pride of Pidley - Once again, the staff have all surpassed expectations - what a lovely bunch. (And that’s just Claire...!) Thanks for the hospitality and food’s just out of this world!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Food is always excellent. Golf course reasonably well maintained. Facilities close a little too early. Great golf shop.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent. Only small point is that the kettle in the room needed descaling.
- Sue (10/5): Lovely location and friendly welcome - Lovely friendly welcome and a lovely setting. Comfy room in beautiful surroundings. Doors in neighbouring ‘cottages’ a little noisy slamming in the early morning but waking up to blue sky in the middle of the countryside meant that wasn’t a real hardship!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Country setting, golf facilities, good standard of food
- damien (4/5): Nice room, no Wi-fi - Nice onigh rooms and food, but the Wi-fi and phone signal is non existent which isn’t great
- Lee (8/5): Nice place - perfectly placed for my business meeting, nice and quiet and the food was great.
- Peter (8/5): Golf Break - We had a golf break there and it is perfect for that. Food is excellent and the lodges are very nice. Golf course is well laid out but this year the summer had not done it any favours. Downside no WIFI in the lodges.
- Ann (8/5): Ok for obe night - One night stay. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The room I had was in one of the lodges, which was ok, but a bit tired. I’m not the biggest of people, but the shower was a tight squeeze and rather bijou! For the money it was ok. However, the food was really good (despite previous comments there was a wide choice) and relatively well priced
- Peter (8/5): - xxx
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not great - stay elsewhere if you can - Room tired and dated. Hot, with no fan or air conditioning. Wifi barely worked. Breakfast service a bit of a shambles with staff uncoordinated. Not even ready to serve breakfast at opening time of 8am which is quite late anyway in my opinion. For the price paid, does not offer good value for money.
- Martin (8/5): Business trip - A very nice location. Lodges are “quaint” but a little noisy. Food at the bar was good but not a great deal of choice
- Kathryn (10/5): Lodge stay - We had a fantastic time ,lovely lodges ,lovely staff ,beautiful surroundings.great food .lovely breakfast will Debo go back
- Robert (10/5): Weekend at Lakeside Lodge - The bar and restaurant is excellent. Good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room for a overnight for work. Simple comfortable room overlooking golf course.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great value for money.
- pip (4/5): It's was a ok hotel won't go again - You gave us a price and we were change more not happy
Brekfast bacon was cooked in hot water not fried
You can hear when your next door have a shower or goes to the loo day or night
