Guest Reviews
- Kerry (10/5): Had a blast! Thanks for a lovely stay! - Had a lovely stay. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We booked this accommodation due to its close proximity to the Scarborough Open Air Theatre and would 100% come back here again if we go to another concert there 😀
- Nicholas (8/5): - Great little place!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Alberts is an inn, but we had a lot of privacy thanks to the access of the rooms can be done via a separate entrance from the pub. Although the pub was opened until midnight that music wasn't too loud.
- Karen (4/5): - Unfortunately there was a band on until midnight right below the room, so this was extremely loud and impossible to sleep during evening hours. Staff was polite and attentive upon arrival and gave heads up on the late night noise. Breakfast not available until 8:30am but was able to ask for a favour to have a bit earlier. Overall as expected and advertised minus the noise level
- Katy (10/5): NICE ROOM GREAT PUB - GREAT STAY WILL BOOK AGAIN
The room was spacious clean and had everything we needed the breakfast was lovely and the staff were very helpful
The live entertainment in the pub was great and it finished promptly at 11pm so we could go straight to bed after and even though the pub shuts at 12 we couldn't hear anything in the room xxxxx
- Sacha (10/5): Great stay - Lovely stag whilst going to the open air theatre. Nice breakfast too.
- Miria (10/5): Great welcoming place - Nice and friendly welcome, good pub and close to Scarborough open air theatre
- Christine (10/5): - We had an excellent stay whilst attending a concert at the open air theatre. The room was clean with everything you needed, a well stocked tea and coffee tray with biscuits and two bottles of water. There was also toiletries in the bathroom although we used our own. The bar itself was great, lovely choice of drinks and food. Great band were playing on the Saturday night, great friendly atmosphere. The breakfast in the morning was first class, lots of choice and well cooked. We wouldnt hesitate to stay here again, thanks to all the staff for their hospitality. Chris and Andy
- Michelle (10/5): - Fabulous hosts, lovely comfortable room. Also had a great night in the pub after the gig. Includes a lovely breakfast. Highly recommend
- Valerie (10/5): - Stayed here for one night while attending a show at the Open Air Theatre. It wasn’t the Ritz but for what we paid we weren’t expecting the Ritz! What we got was a nice clean room with what looked like a recently renovated bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast, which we pre-ordered was freshly cooked and plentiful. The Open Air Theatre was a 15-20 minute walk away. Would definitely recommend The Albert for anyone looking for post-show accommodation
- Julie (10/5): - Just got home from 2 night stay excellent service excellent food rebooked for next year
- Karen (10/5): - Lovely clean room, good breakfast, owners and all staff were lovely, would stay there again and recommend
- Harvey (6/5): - Bedrooms over entertainment area. Music om till midnight. This is not clear when booking.
- David (10/5): - Really comfy place. Room was spot on. When the gentleman showed me the room. He noticed a mark on the duvet. (It was nothing really). It looked like they’d maybe rested the vacuum on the bed & it had left a bit of dirt. The gentleman changed the duvet cover there & then. I ordered my breakfast & unfortunately I slept in. When I left I apologised & they couldn’t have been nicer about it. Spot on place , would stay again.
- Gavin (8/5): Suited us - Easy check in with private parking around the back of the pub. Big room with huge bed and everything you need. Ideal for our overnight stay in Scarborough. Friendly atmosphere and a fab breakfast.
- Moira (8/5): - Lovely carvery on Sunday, breakfast was good too
- Gillian (8/5): - Comfy big bed
Convenient location
Lovely breakfast
- Gemma (6/5): The Albert Review - Very friendly staff.
Advertised as breakfast included but when we arrived we were told it would be an additional £30 per day and this is a known problem with Hotels.com which doesn’t help when you then have to add breakfast costs to your stay. Wouldn’t recommend to a family as music very loud until early hours of the morning and loud banging outside from 6am daily. Room adequate but not overly clean (cobwebs over pictures and ceiling and skirting boards dirty) shower in our family room wouldn’t stay upright so had to hold whilst showering. Had breakfast been included it would have been ok for the price but as a room only basis it was not.
- Janet (8/5): Noisy night - Check in was perfect. Free parking.Friendly barman who showed us to our room and explained keys.
Room firstly looked good. Large comfortable bed, bunk beds, en suite, kettle and hairdryer provided. Iron and ironing board outside room.
Cleanliness wasnt so good. Stains on bed runner. Bathroom wasnt very clean, skirting was scruffy. Room full of cobwebs.
Karaoke noise on the night was dreadful, went on until midnight. Wish we had been for warned about this
Location was ideal, walking distance to everywhere.
Breakfast was lovely apart from the grumpy male staff member who served it.
- Lisa (10/5): - The property was great and team were very friendly. Walked into the centre and got tea when we got back. My son loved the bunk beds. Very good value.
- Caroline (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay, felt welcomed, friendly staff, would stay again x
- Kamil (10/5): - Good
- Kirsty (10/5): - Lovely pub and perfect location
- Kathleen (8/5): - Felt like staying at an authentic British pub. Had a great stay
- l (8/5): Good for one night - Beds are super comfy, the rooms have everything you need for a one night stay. I was expecting the pub noise to die down after it closed, but it didn't. Not sure if it was the room next door, or a late taste going on downstairs, but we were kept awake until 2.30ish. Walls so think you can hear the toilet activities of the people in the next room.
- Karl (10/5): Fantastic staff - Everything was fantastic service was top notch the staff went above and beyond we arrived early and the let us use the bathroom it was one of the best experiences I have had
- Lisa (10/5): - Stayed with friends for 1 night after a concert.
Room was comfortable with everything we needed.
Had a couple of drinks in the beer garden which was lovely and sunny 😎
- Maxine (10/5): - Property really convenient placed, staff absolutely fantastic nothing too much trouble accommodation fitted the bill all basics provided clean and airy. The area around property a little run down lots of boarded up houses but the Albion more than compensated for that. Will definitely be staying again!!!
- Paul (10/5): - I travelled with friends to see a concert with an overnight stay. The Albert was brilliant… spacious rooms, with all amenities. Friendly welcome but not overpowering.
Easily better than two hotels I’ve recently stayed in at Manchester for Concerts only earlier this month and literally half the PRICE… we will be returning for future events 💯 Absolutely OUTSTANDING VALUE FOR MONEY!
- stevie (6/5): - Don’t eat breakfast here! Absolutely gross. They also need to have a children’s breakfast available so you’re not paying £10 for two table spoons of jelly scrambled eggs and 2 mushrooms like we did for my daughter. Bad quality breakfast. My partner eats anything and even he struggled with this. Staff are friendly enough, shower didn’t work properly and the shower bottom backed up with water so no good for more than 1 person. This was room 3. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The karaoke is on until 12 which wasn’t a problem to us but may be for family’s with younger children.
- Craig (2/5): - This is hard to write as on first glance it was such a lovely place.
My wife, son and I arrived and were warmly greeted by bar staff who made us very welcome.
Showed all the normal bits and then showed us to the room, the room, room 2, was clean and bedding was great.
The smell however was another thing, the bar staff recognised the smell and said so, but we just thought it might have been because the window was open.
We literally dropped our bags and set off out for the afternoon and returned late in the evening.
Had a beer in the bar, friendly locals and great service but when we walked into the room it was like being hit by a wall of what smelt like heavy urine.
It absolutely stunk and so because of the time we were stuck, a local shop was still open and I bought some frebreeze which masked the smell a little.
The smell was coming from the drains we found out in the morning, it was the shower plug and it smelt so bad we didn’t wash, we kept the door shut, packed our bags and went for breakfast.
The breakfast was fantastic and filling.
It’s such a shame we didn’t notice until late in the night because none of us slept well and we were fairly grouchy most of the day.
Gutted to be honest because everything else was spot on.
- Tony (10/5): - Great location great pub.
- Kevin (10/5): - Reasonably priced
Friendly staff
Excellent cleanliness
Good food
Highly recommended
- Richard (10/5): - Very welcoming and rooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was great and unlimited supplies of toast available
- Neil (10/5): Cracking weekend. - 2nd stay this year, friendly owners and staff, extremely pleasant and polite. Stay was at the time of their tenth anniversary of being in the pub and even though the majority were friends and relatives we were made more than welcome even at the expense of us wanting to watch the rugby, it made the weekend. Breakfast fantastic, can't recommend the Albert highly enough
Hope they enjoyed their break in Benidorm.
- andrew (8/5): - Shower head
Was broke,
- Vicki (8/5): - Room was nice and spacious, bed was huge and so comfortable pillows not so good, the lady who ran it was lovely very friendly. Breakfast was included but wasn’t the best if I’m honest, but we would stay here again
- Dennis (2/5): Didn’t stay !!! - When we were told that the karaoke in the bar was on till 12 midnight we immediately left ..lost all our money and walked out .. ..
- Judith (6/5): Average - The toilet needed fastening down. The shower was not draining. Floor needed a clean. Used towel left on the back of door from previous guest. Bed clean and comfortable. Nice size room. Breakfast ok, good service.
- Kevan (10/5): - Had short a stay at The Albert and what a pleasure it was, staff and food excellent.
- Allen (10/5): Scarborough overnight - Great pub stay, lovely room and great breakfast. This is a pub so there will be noise, fully expected this and it wasn’t an issue. The pub is lively clean and great value for food and drink. Definitely will re book when visiting Scarborough again.
- Leanne (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Stayed at the Albert due to having a family wedding in Scarborough, check in was really quick, staff were helpful and friendly. Room was nice and the bed was so comfortable, lovely breakfast the next morning before check out. Will definitely be using again if we ever need to stay over again.
- paul (8/5): august 2023 stay - short stay at the hotel the location was good with esay access to everything locally , hotel staff were very friendly and the food was lovely overall would stay there again if i was to return
- Maged (6/5): - Location is good 3 ms walk to north bay sea bank. Room is small as well as shower box. No modern or luxurious feel and breakfast time is only 1/2 hour. Ther was no sea view as stated in booking.
- Stuart (10/5): - From booking, to checking in and checking out, the whole process went smoothly. Staff and the pub itself were fantastic
- Vikki (10/5): - Stayed for one night to attend the Open Air Theatre. Good location for either SOAT or the South Bay area as we took a walk around and it was only a short walk to the castle and then a short walk from the South Bay front back to property.
Room was nice and clean, only slight problem was although there are heavy curtains on the bay window the track didn't cover the ends of the window. Meaning it was very bright in the room from early on. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
- Craig (4/5): - This is a normal pub with some rooms above.
Check in is via the bar, so you queue with the punters buying pints when your stood with your travel bags. Breakfast was a 30 minute window between 08:30 and 09:00 which wasn't suitable for us as we needed to be on the roar by 8am. The room was ok, regarding space and amenities such as a kettle/tea and coffee etc but we were directly above the bar with Karaoke blasting until 11:45pm. Not ideal for our needs. Booked this on Trivago as was looking for a hotel, didn't expect such a poor experience through a company such as Trivago. Wouldn't go back, really let down
- Bradley (10/5): - Stayed for the night for a concert at the open air theatre, staff was brilliant on arrival right through to leaving the next day, excellently located in between the train station and concert! Will use again!
- Karen (10/5): Excellent value - Just returned from a fantastic overnight stay in Scarborough at The Albert. The host Pauline was welcoming, staff friendly and good food. Our room was very clean and nice and comfortable with a well stocked tea and coffee tray. Excellent value for money, will definitely stay again.
- Tracy (10/5): Great! - Great stay for the 2nd time. Food and drink was good. Staff are very friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Great location for the open air theatre. Will
Definitely stay again!
- Andrea (10/5): - Staff so friendly and helpful!!
Great location
- Doreen (4/5): Nightmare venue - On arrival we were greeted by a friendly barmaid, shown to our room. — OK. We kept having to ask for assistance with the keys as they were causing a problem. The huge bed was great and comfortable. We asked about food in the evening and were told that it was not available on Mondays and Tuesdays (we arrived on a Tuesday). The breakfast the following morning was appalling. I only have cereal and toast but my husband asked for bacon, sausage and egg. The bacon was rigid, the sausage was burnt and the egg was overdone. After we returned to the hotel in the early evening, as we are an elderly couple, we watched some TV and relaxed, intending to visit the bar later for a drink. At 8 o’clock the most appalling loud music started. As our room was directly above the bar watching TV was not an option. I asked the barman what time the live music ended and was told 11pm. We went out. The music continued beyond 11 pm and only ended when I went down to the bar to really complain. At no point were we made aware that the venue had live music and what to expect. If you are visiting Scarborough I beg you to give The Albert a miss.
- Christopher (10/5): - Amy was in charge as the owners were away. She was welcoming, super helpful and produced one of the best hotel breakfasts ever! I will definitely re-book
- Terri (10/5): Honest review - Perfect for us for the night but may not be for everybody
We are greeted at the bar by the chef who was so lovely and welcoming , she showed us to our rooms ect and was lovley throughout.
The breakfast was nice and the table was set lovley too .
The beer garden is beautiful
We got free tee coffee and biscuts in the room , clean towels and shower gell, shampoo ect .
Now I will say if you have high standard or are a snob it’s not for you , I can see some people not loving this place but we liked it , we are just simple Barnsley folk .
The bed we had was 2 singles made into a queen which wasn’t a issue for us but again could be for you .
The showers are small but we are size 2Xl people and fit okay but any bigger you may struggle .
There was paint chipping on the widows and general wear and tear in places but again we didn’t care we liked it .
Scarborough itself it’s amazing I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back for the surrounding area ect but the Albert we probley would go back to .
Give the chef a bloody raise but she was doing amazing!
To sum up we liked it because we are easy to please but don’t go expediting a 5* fancy place
Thank you for the lovley stay
- Anthony (8/5): Excellent one night stay - Only one night. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room clean and tidy. Facilities very good. Food excellent.
- mark (6/5): - There was mould all in the windows , the tv was totally in the wrong area hard to watch when in bed , breakfast was brought on a very small plate, toast was brought to you and 1 glass of orange on the table no jug for a refil
- Laticia (10/5): - Lovely stay at The Albert! Our room was clean and well-appointed. The true highlight here was the staff! They went above and beyond in securing taxis for us at odd times. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice people, but issues, would not stay again - We were warmly welcomed and checked in quickly. Our stay included breakfast, but on check in we were told this was only served between 0830 and 0845, and we were checking out at 0745. I understand we needed to leave quite early, but the breakfast times should be listed on hotels.com so guests know in advance. We were offered a discount on our food that evening, which was very kind, but when we came to order food, the lady who offered this was not there so we could not take advantage of this. In the evening, we enjoyed a few drinks in the bar and some food, the food was ok, the drinks were very reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly. We were staying on a Friday night, we were also told on check in that there would be karaoke and it would stop at midnight... that is quite late for me and my husband, we tried to be relaxed about this, we stayed in the bar until 1030pm, then went to our room, unfortunately the music was loud in our room, there was no way we could sleep, I had ear plugs, but the bass of the music still reverberated, the music did stop just a few minutes after midnight and we then slept well. The hotels.com listing should mention that karaoke is on until midnight, we would not have stayed here if we had known. In the morning, I used the shower, and the shower head did not stay up, it drooped, so the water mostly sprayed the back wall of the shower rather than me! In summary, the people are lovely, but we would not stay again for the reasons detailed.
- Peter (8/5): Family stay for one night - Overall good quality accommodation. Room was large but sink was cracked in ensuite and overall the room needed a deep clean. Would stay again. Handy with pub downstairs with no noise after a sensible time. No food being served which was a shame as were not told in advance. Breakfast was ok. Have to choose night before. My son chose just sausage and beans and literally got a single small sausage. Overall I would stay again though
- Sue (8/5): - Nice friendly staff. Lovely big room with a fantastic comfy bed!! Would recommend the place. Would stay again.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely room, and lovely pub great atmosphere,
- Richard (10/5): Always a great stay - We have stayed at the Albert before so knew what to expect. Great service, nice room with freeview Tv, water and usual coffee/tea condiments plus biscuits. There was a darts tournament on until 12am but we did not hear loud music and we were not disturbed at all. Breakfast was really good! Convenient shop next door that is open until 11pm. Cannot find any faults with the Albert. It would definitely continue to be our choice of hotel when visiting Scarborough.
- Samantha (8/5): - Nice friendly place to stay, close to town centre, breakfast was fantastic. The only thing to consider is it is a pub and certain nights they have karaoke till midnight which is very noisy in room if you want a early night but like I said is a pub so have to expect this. The one and only negative I have is I had booked the triple family room which holds 2 adults 1 child my original booking was me & 1 child which came to£100 in total with free breakfast, but then I thought would be nice to take my mum along with us which I thought shouldn’t be a problem has there was enough room in the family room I’d booked but when I got there I was charged an extra £35. I would have gladly paid something for the extra breakfast but think £35 was a bit too much when like I said the room I’d originally booked accommodated for 2 adults 1 child.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect - Lovely hotel, friendly staff. Everything was fine and enjoyed our stay. Definitely need to book again. Perfect location for the open air theatre as well. I just think a feather duster with an extended handle is needed for the cob webs on those high ceilings.
- ray (8/5): - We booked here for one night to see Tom Jones at the nearby arena! Ideal location for the arena and town. Very busy pub but the rooms are lovely with everything you need and breakfast cooked to order. Would recommend!
- Wayne (10/5): Wayne carole - Polite and friendly staff great hosts.Good
Breakfast all together greY overnight stay 😋
Many thanks to all the staff for the great service 😀
- Deborah (10/5): - Lovely clean spacious room quick check in & out . staff were friendly helpful & welcoming . Food available if u wanted and you have plenty of choice for breakfast in morning 😊
- John (8/5): Saturday at the Albert - Nice, clean accommodation and friendly staff. Great atmosphere and service.
- Paul (8/5): Nice room with good facilities - Nice room over a pub -very clean with good facilities - location was ideal for the open air theatre and access to the town .
Was a little noisy until after closing.
- Tracy (10/5): Perfect - Fantastic location, 10 minutes walk to the open air theatre. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was good and a great pint served too. Absolutely outstanding service from the staff…would highly recommend this hotel.
- Brian (8/5): - Enjoyed our over night stay here would book again
- s (10/5): Will go again - Very clean the host very friendly nothing too much trouble
Lovely breakfast
- Robert (8/5): - Quick check-in. Large room. Comfortable bed. Clean with everything needed for overnight stay. No noise from pub.
Would stay again.
- Wendy (10/5): - Lovely place to stay
Landlord and landlady very welcoming and friendly, as were all the staff
Breakfast was really nice
Room lovely with very large comfy bed
The Albert is well situated
We will definitely return
- Matthew (8/5): - Last minute trip, impressed with the room sizes and how quiet they were even with the pub open. Cannot recommend the food at the pub enough - beef pie, amazing!! Would definitely stay here again in if in the area, only improvement for me would be a couple of proper beers on tap.
- Celia (10/5): Friendly staff - Great service and staff.
Breakfast was spot on, just what we needed after a night out.
- Claire (10/5): - Excelle t food, friendly staff, lovely and clean
- Jennifer (10/5): - Overall an excellent stay, all the staff were very pleasant and very welcoming. The food was excellent, and the breakfast fab value. The room was great, bed very comfy, just lacked a bit more bedside table space, a few more coat hangers would have been helpful
- Mandy (10/5): - Nice comfortable room great breakfast lovely friendly hosts great location for open air theatre
- Julie (6/5): Dissapointed - Room was ok apart from window that wouldnt shut as catch was broken and a cracked sink. Noise from outside was bad through the night not due to pub but couldnt close window so made it worse , breakfast lovely
- JOHN (8/5): Decent accommodation - Good size room at the rear of the building so no noise from traffic.
Large bathroom with modern shower (no bath) .
For me the mattress was a bit hard, everybody have there own preferences so may be ok for others.
No breakfast available due to owners been away but many cafes around locally.
- Sue (8/5): - Traditional pub with very friendly staff. They took us right to our room and explained everything.
Lovely big bed. Great beer garden. Close to amenities and the beach and Peasholme park.
- Callum (10/5): - Fantastic staff and service great value for money
- david (10/5): Great weekend in Scarborough. - Excellent place for bed and breakfast, our room was excellent with king-size bed and lovely bathroom, spotlessly clean and the breakfast was superb, car parking is a big plus as Scarborough can be a nightmare, will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Concert one night stay - We would like to thank all staff that made our stay there very welcoming. On arrival staff were very helpful and showed us to our room. We had a very enjoyable evening at the concert then later a few drinks in the bar before bed.
- Nina (8/5): - People were nice and the accommodation was comfortable. Food could have been better
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cant be guaranteed to get the room you pay for. - Booked a double room, but on arrival was told that the only room they had available was a 2 x single room, and they where unable to change it.
- derek (8/5): Modern, clean room - Above the public bar but surprisingly quiet.
Bar is a run of the mill local so very surprised at the excellent room. Very clean, modern and a good standard of finish.
2 mins walk from the sea and 10 mins to the harbour area.
Parking for 3-4 cars at the rear, off road.
Good breakfast too.
- Nicola (10/5): Superb accommodation. - We have absolutely loved our stay at the Albert in Scarborough. Great and quiet location in the North Bay area.
Everyone was so friendly and the room was really lovely.
Spacious, really nicely decorated and immaculately clean.
A great shower too. Slept better than I've slept for months.
Our hosts were lovely, breakfast was great and they were very accommodating when we had an early start on our final morning and did us a continental breakfast early.
When we next visit Scarborough, we'll book again!
- P m (10/5): Best overnight stay in Scarborough - It's not our first overnight stay in Scarborough but it was the best.
The room was very clean and spacious. The shower was excellent the hosts where very friendly and the breakfast was excellent
We will definitely stay here again
- Joanna (4/5): Not worth the money. - On arrival the lady was lovely really warm and showed us where things were. Room nice and tidy but pillows very uncomfortable, window wouldn't shut and curtains didn't cover the windows on the edges so the room was really light. Breakfast was tiny, asked for bacon eggs beans and mushrooms got one slice of bacon beans and mushrooms, egg had been missed which i didn't mind but by the time it had been cooked rest of breakfast was cooked.
- malcolm (8/5): Comfortable accommodstion above a busy pub - Comfortably ac ommodstion above a busy pub Try to avoid fridays karoake and end of cricket match as it is the nearest pub to the ground
- COLIN (8/5): Great pub on north bay - The Albert offers a great selection of meals at very good price. A new beer garden is a bonus since lockdown with both smoking and no smoking areas. Our ensuite room was clean and spacious. A decent selection for breakfast. A good location for cricket or Peashome Park
- Paul (10/5): Great place to stay - The hotel is in a prime location for everything. The staff and owners are very freindly and welcoming. We would definately stay again
- J (10/5): Spacious and comfortable accommodation - My room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a well equipped en suite shower room. Tea, coffee, bottles of mineral water and biscuits were supplied. The pub does an delicious lasagne and served me an excellent full English breakfast. The owner was helpful and obliging.
- Tracey (8/5): Friendly place - Lovely pub/b n b , staff were lovely, food was brilliant, would definitely recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good value for money. Owners couldn’t do enough for me
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pleasant and friendly Hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic stay, all staff made us feel really welcomed and a fantastic breakfast to finish the stay. Would definitely recommend.
- Neil (8/5): Great alternative to a hotel. - Great value stay just outside of Scarborough town centre. Staff were brilliant/.
