Richard (10/5): - For a small hotel amongst hundreds of others, this one stood out because of the staff. We booked three rooms and were upgraded to slightly better ones. So how was the staff good? One of the rooms had a bad Air conditioning unit. We complained and were switched to a better room. One room did not have a fridge. One was brought in almost immediately and one room was missing the tv remote...5 minutes and a service person brought one. Breakfast was very tasty and there was enough choice for everyone. We took a tour through the hotel to Halong Bay at an exceptional price and the boat was real nice. On our last night we informed the front desk that we will be departing early and without hesitation the person at reception offered breakfast boxes to take with us early in the morning. One word of advice, if you book a shuttle bus or trip make sure you confirm the hotel address because there is more than one Starlight Hotel. Five stars for this place....

Donald (4/5): I will not return. - The staff was nice It is in need of serious maintenance and upkeep. No soap dish in shower, toilet clogged upon arrival, no refrigerator or safe. It was in rough shape. Only nice area was the lobby and even that had no aircon.

Bathroom tiny, sink leaked, no shower screen so water went everywhere. Little to no hot water. A/C could not be adjusted and blew very cold air. A fan would help. Bed was small and pillow rock hard. There was a dental pick on the floor and surfaces grimy. Breakfast was meagre- not replenished, no juice, tea .

Xenia (9/5): Sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für Hanoi & Touren - Das Hotel hat eine super Lage im Old Quarter von Hanoi - Massagen, gute Restaurants & Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind unmittelbar vor Ort. Auch zur Train Street ist es nicht weit. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Personal, vorallem Minh an der Rezeption. Wir haben über sie spontan mehrere Touren gebucht (die super Organisiert waren, man brauchte sich um nichts kümmern!), konnten unsere Rucksäcke für eine mehrtägige Trekking Tour im Hotel lassen & spontan zwei Nächte mehr in dem Hotel buchen. Sie hatte immer ein Lächeln auf den Lippen & hat uns wirklich gut beraten! Aber auch das weitere Personal war stets sehr freundlich & hilfsbereit.

The room is clean and tidy. What surprised me most was that every staff member was so friendly and kind. I had a really wonderful 4 days and 3 nights here. This hotel is really great, and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Hanoi!

Raymond (5/5): Passable - Good location in the Old Quarter, close walk to everything. The price was reasonable for what the hotel was. The rooms were smaller than expected, and the 1 window opened up from the shower into the back of the elevator shaft. The other room the window opened up into the stairwell. One morning we went down to breakfast and a rat ran across the food table! They did apologise and said they rectified the problem and paid for our taxi to the airport.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. One of the best things about it was the location — everything was close by! Shops, restaurants, and local attractions were all within walking distance, which made getting around super convenient. I didn’t like the smell in the bathroom — it was unpleasant, like vomit coming from the hand basin. That definitely affected my overall experience.

Frolov_a_d (4/5): Not recommended - Good interior, location is close to the city center The window in the room looks inside the hotel - to the wall with a mounted air conditioner system. Stuffy and hot room. Only one towel per person. Staff do not seem to be interested in guests. Breakfast is common - instant coffee.
Alan (9/5): Great location at an affordable rate- excellent staff! - Very central location close to old town Hanoi and easy walking distance to all the attractions- Train street and the old town and lake. Communication with the management was excellent- Ms Diep contacted me directly via WhatsApp prior to arrival to let us know if we needed any assistance we could contact her directly. We booked an airport transfer for our early morning arrival into Hanoi (at 1am) and the driver then also messaged me with his exact location was waiting when we came through arrivals. No payment needed immediately, we paid for the taxi room and other services (laundry) the night before checking out- credit card accepted (3% cc charge is standard in Vietnam) the room itself was spacious and clean (we booked a bigger room with balcony) with good air conditioning and WiFi. Huge bed, good shower with very hot water. We didn’t get the room cleaned every day as we didn’t feel it was necessary but when we did the room was cleaned well and bedding and towels changed. Staff were excellent throughout especially the young ladies on reception. Staff- 10/10. Not really a complaint but traffic noise could be an issue for some- to be expected on a busy street in a busy city. There may be quieter rooms towards the back of the hotel.
